I used to come here to go out. Now it's completely renovated as a restaurant. Went back after a long time. The food was delicious.

Beer at the right temperature, delicious sandwiches, and excellent service. The chicken breast slices were even better with freshly cooked shredded chicken breast. Who knows, maybe five stars next time.

We had a delicious shared platter with meat and fish. The meal was filling enough for two people. The restaurant is also nicely decorated and has a great location in Zaandam's city center.

Everything is exactly as you'd expect. The prices are just quite steep. €8.50 for a (simple) grilled cheese sandwich.

De Mail Company zit er al even, en dat is wel te zien aan het meubilair en de faciliteiten. De verf en het behang kunnen wel wat opfrissing gebruiken, en pak in hemelsnaam de toiletgroepen aan. Zo versleten als in een dorpskroeg van 30 jaar oud. De bediening is vriendelijk en amicaal, bijna nonchalant. Nou ja, iig zeker niet opdringerig, maar ze zijn er als je een seintje geeft. En dan: Het eten is er wel oke, en de pricing gemiddeld tot iets te hoog voor het gebodene. De toetjes zijn echt te duur voor die porties. Dat ik er toch steeds weer terugkom is vooral te danken aan de gemoedelijke bediening. Als oud Zaandammer voel ik me er op mijn gemak, al was het maar omdat ik er ook al kwam toen het nog een postkantoor was. Maar alsjeblieft….doe iets aan die pishokken! Dank u!

Plenty of tables available. Unfortunately, there wasn't any staff; they just walked by, but that's about it. Later, I ordered from someone else and paid immediately (otherwise, it would have taken another while). The order was served very quickly, though.

Today we had a half-hour break from 12:30 to 1:00 PM. In the morning, we called to request that our food be ready by 12:30 PM. We had already placed our order. We arrived at the restaurant around 12:35 PM. To our surprise, the food wasn't ready yet. One waitress said it was too busy, another said it was quiet. The drinks also arrived late. Our food wasn't delivered until 12:55 PM, even though we hadn't requested it. Because of this, we couldn't use our break as planned. Within 20 minutes, we spoke to four different employees at the table...total chaos. This is not how it should be. Today's team struck us as completely unfriendly and arrogant.

Had lunch with a croquette sandwich. No salad or anything else. The plate was quite bare. The staff let some plastic blow away from the tray, saying, "Oh, that's for the street now. We cleaned it up." The staff wasn't particularly friendly either. And the smoking area on the patio is really disgusting, making it uncomfortable.

The venue is in dire need of renovation. Especially the decor, especially the restrooms! It's a stark contrast to the new hotel above.

Excellent service! They offered several seating options, and the service was prompt and very friendly. The food was delicious and more than enough, including a generous portion of salads. The atmosphere was very pleasant. We'll definitely be back!

Waited 15 minutes trying to get the waiters attention before leaving. The restaurant was empty. Update 2025: tried again, actually got served but food was terrible. I will try again in a few years.

I'm still writing my review because I'm still angry about the waitress's reaction. I ordered a mojito, which was quite expensive, so it's not something I drink often. After a long wait, I ordered it myself. Oh well, there was a brown leaf on the mint. I fished it out, and there were no telling how many rotten leaves there were, and the bottom of the stem was all slimy in the glass. I asked the waitress if she considered that normal. She said, "Yes, that's nature," and looked at me like I was stupid. "Yes, I understand that the mint goes bad, but you can't make a drink with that." She eventually took the glass and supposedly made a new one, which I highly doubt, given her arrogant look. So check your glass carefully to see if it's fresh. It's a shame I didn't take a picture.

Nice place, friendly staff. Do not order the Damburer. It is really inedible. Pressed so compactly that it is almost gum that you chew on. So many herbs and salt in it that you can no longer taste the meat. The average burger from an Aldi or Lidl is twice as good. The healthy salad is completely fine, well filled and tasty. We did get a beer as compensation. That is fair. Unfortunately 3 stars,

The high tea is really recommended! Very cozy afternoon with delicious dishes and different wines. Service was also excellent.

Vi kunne selv sætte os, hvor vi ville, der var et menukort ved bordet. Vi bestilte relativt hurtigt, caffe latte, salat teriaky og wrap med carpaccio. Maden var god, salaten var en stor portion. Dog var wrap med carpaccio ikke ret stor. Hvis man er meget sulten, kan man ikke blive mæt af den. Kaffen var meget tynd og ikke den relativt høje pris værd. Betjeningen var fin, de gjorde det de skulle, hverken mere eller mindre. Stemning var her ikke meget af. Jeg hørte kun hollandsk ved bordene, men jeg havde ikke indtryk af, at gæsterne var lokale.

Had dinner with my wife. I had the satay which was fine. My wife had the surf & turf. The meat and vegetables were fine. Unfortunately the gambas were inedible. They were not fresh. They did not look tasty which was a shame.

This is actually the standard place for lunch for me. The sandwiches are just good: tasty flavors, good portions and fair prices. Other businesses in the area could benefit from this. The staff is friendly and helps you well. Occasionally they forget something, but that can happen and is usually resolved well. The atmosphere is also just nice, whether you sit inside or outside on the terrace. All in all a pleasant place to have something to eat.

Not a bad restaurant for lunch. A bit noisy design, not very friendly service. The salad is ordinary without any finesse, but the ribs deserve praise, which is why the food is a little overrated.

Very disappointing experience. The service was inattentive and borderline rude — I had to call out multiple times just to get the staff’s attention, and only after snapping my fingers did someone come over. Even worse, when I asked about my dessert, the waiter questioned whether I had actually ordered it. What bothered me the most, though, was the clear difference in how I was treated compared to white customers. Staff were attentive, friendly, and responsive to other tables, but consistently ignored me. It felt like I was invisible. As an Asian traveler, I can’t help but feel this was a form of racial bias — subtle, but unmistakable. Not to mention the food is not even good，the taste is so bland. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place truly left a bad impression. There are plenty of better options in the area — don’t waste your time and money here.

We recently went to this restaurant and the food was really, really good! We were impressed by the quality of the food and enjoyed every bite. However, there was one big drawback: we had to wait about an hour for our food. This was really disappointing, especially for my hungry children who didn't like it at all. Unfortunately, this long waiting time brought some negative points for our visit. Despite the wait, we would give the restaurant a second chance because the food was simply fantastic!

My first time eating here! It was all delicious! We had a shelf with all kinds of things on it!

Food was good. Service mediocre. Took a long time before we could order. In between we were not asked at all if we wanted something to drink. After our food was finished, our empty plates remained on the table for a very long time. After clearing the table, we were not asked if we wanted dessert, so we had to contact someone ourselves.

Had a nice drink on the terrace. Service was quite fast at first, but as the evening progressed it got a lot worse. Also, a whole glass of wine fell from the tray over my girlfriend. It can happen of course, but in terms of cleaning up, the person came with a dry tea towel that did not absorb any moisture but also caused stickiness afterwards. My girlfriend then got the same dry tea towel to dry her jacket and trousers a bit. A bit clumsy, could have been better. In terms of food, we mainly had the drinks bites, which were fine. Also nice places to sit on the terrace.

Today, March 22, I sat indoors and worked. The service is very good and the food and drinks delicious. It's a real shame that there was a lady behind the bar who just shouted and cursed. About how she was tired and worked at night. I would do something about that.

Ate here tonight. First we had to "wait" for half an hour until someone came to our table. Ordered everything. You're looking forward to your sludge tongue. This was bloody and tasted raw, did not fall off the grade and there was red around the bones. The kitchen: it's fresh, it should be. Well my appetite was gone. I was offered something different. Starter was delicious, dessert okay. No one came to ask between courses whether anything was okay or whether we had enjoyed it. Having to ask for everything yourself. Shame! Previous experiences were good.

We had to be in Zaandam and had a long drive behind us: time for lunch. There were six of us, and everyone ordered what he/she felt like. The service was good and correct. Because one of the attendees cannot eat large bread, we asked about the volume of a focaccia. Turned out to be too large for this one. Another did order a focaccia that in retrospect turned out to be smaller than was stated during the explanation (question). A difference. 4 star rating, there is always room for improvement for the entrepreneur(s).

always come here for a delicious lunch. On Saturdays it is often a bit busier, so you sometimes have to wait a little longer for service. But one signal and they will come running. Always a reason for me to return!

Super leuk restaurant kom er vaak aangezien ik in de buurt woon. Nooit problemen gehad, op deze keer na. Drinken belachelijk duur 5 euro voor 1 wijntje… eten was niet net zo lekker als andere keren. De kipsate miste kroepoek en was niet heel lekker. Je krijgt 5 zielige stukjes op 1 stokje voor ongeveer 16 euro, hebben ook bijna 1,5 uur gewacht op ons hoofdgerecht.Daarnaast stond de muziek NIET NORMAAL hard. Kon niet eens een normaal gesprek hebben met mijn vrienden. Heb gevraagd of de muziek wat zachter kon werd alleen helaas niks aan gedaan.

Nice round table where we could eat with 6 people. Unfortunately, a speaker was blowing at full throttle, so no conversation was possible. Even the staff had to ask several times what we said when they came to take the order after we had asked for a menu. When asked if the music could be a little quieter, they said yes and no. Shame.

Had lunch here. I don't really find it pleasant there. We were served by someone who was efficient but not really customer friendly. A question about whether a dish can be served with fries instead of bread was already very difficult. The bill by threes is also not possible. It gives no feeling of hospitality. Food is okay but not exciting and quite expensive.
