Trattoria Il Capo in Kralingen-Crooswijk

Il Capo is a fantastic spot for a cosy, delicious Italian lunch. The exposed brick walls and soft furnishings make for a warm atmosphere, and the friendly staff add to the charm. Their lemonade and aranciata (orange soda) are refreshing, and the coffee is top-notch. The real star, though, is the warm sandwiches/ciabattas. The Salami Milano is a family favourite, but the Pollo and Mortadella options are also excellent. The bread is quite unlike anything I've ever tasted and really, really delicious. In summer, their outdoor seating makes it perfect for an alfresco lunch. Highly recommend!

You should change your opening hours. To...I don't know...until I feel like it. 😉😂😂😂

Always delicious! The only point for improvement I can think of is that the chocolate balls with the coffee are always old (white border around them).

little small restaurant, the pulled pork ciabatta was delicious, and it wasn't too expensive as well the water was expensive though, and they didn't serve tap water :/

Located in a nice shopping street but not much. Focaccia was mediocre and not that big for what you pay for it. Furniture a bit messy. Staff is friendly.

I have been here often and enjoy it, but this visit was a big disappointment. Unfortunately I found a long hair in my bun. Both chefs had long, loose hair in the kitchen, which in my opinion is already risky. I called and had to come back. When I returned, I indicated that I found this very unhygienic and advised to wear hairnets. To my surprise, the chef indicated that he does not intend to wear a hairnet here. He also said that this only happens once or twice a year, and that he finds that acceptable. You would think that a restaurant owner would understand how important hygiene is. In my opinion, hair in food is one of the worst things that can happen to a restaurant. The way this was handled, with a carefree attitude, was shocking. The sandwich went straight into the trash and I will never come back here.

Came here by chance for lunch. At first glance it appears to be a nice, atmospheric restaurant. When you sit for a while it does feel a bit bare, probably due to the tables and the layout. The ciabatta salmone was excellent! Tasty and different from your average ciabatta. Tip: Make sure the menus are clean, this gives a wrong impression. Great location to get a sandwich / something to eat if you are in the area.

Great service, even better sandwiches! They reccomended a Pollo pesto sandwich and it was the best! Best lunch place in Rotterdam by a mile! Reccomend 10/10

They have both nice outside seating and indoors. They have a reasonably priced diverse menu, and both their chiabata and their focacia are delicious and puffy. I especially recommend pulled pork as it is so creamy and juicy a saucy sandwich with nice touches of cheese. Today I had salmone focacia it was ok a little too salty. Their smoothy is quite good but certainly not worth 6 euros.

Great ciabatta for a fair price

Excellent Italian restaurant with good prices. The focaccia was completely stuffed with ingredients, as it should be. The flavors were excellent and there was nothing to complain about. The service is also very nice and friendly, the restaurant is worth a visit.

This delicious lunch spot located on the Lusthofstraat is recommended for every visit to Kralingen. They have a lovely outdoor terrace in the sun, but also a cozy lunch spot inside. This is a must for anyone who loves Italian food

In 1 word; Insane!!! The homemade sandwiches are super fresh and the ingredients are of top quality. Very tasty dishes and the staff is always friendly and helpful. A big advantage is that you can also sit outside, partly covered. Come here often and will certainly continue to do so!

The sandwiches are fine. The girls who work there are friendly but don't pay attention at all. There would be a lot more turnover if they looked around. The 2 men (owners) are downright unfriendly and grumpy. Seem like they are always angry and frustrated. How you can run a business like that is a mystery to me. The terrace in Kralingen looks okay from the window side. The side of the road is very shabby. And they are very dog ​​unfriendly. If you ask for a bowl of water, you get a bowl that a mouse cannot drink from. Make it clear that dogs are not welcome. People prefer not to, but that's how they make their money. Fortunately, I always have my own water bowl with me. Even though the sandwiches are okay, I don't go there anymore and we no longer order sandwiches for the business. There was always something wrong with that order and it was never their fault.

Delicious sandwiches, but you won't be full if you're not 1.40m tall and 40 kilos. The sandwiches are tasty, but far too few to be enough, and ordering two sandwiches is on the expensive side.

Sandwich was fine, not very special, but a bit bland in taste. But man oh man it was completely blue. My clothes, my winter coat, my hair, everything stinks of smoke. After walking outside for half an hour, the air conditioning is still there. The coat and jacket were hung outside, hopefully it will loosen up a bit. In addition to the fact that your clothes stink, I also think it is not very good for your health to sit in a BBQ for half an hour.

Is just closed on days when the tent should be open. And often closes earlier without notification.

Error in the takeaway order made by Il Capo. Called home immediately and then returned but was not helped at all in a friendly manner or offered anything while waiting. We were even blamed for having checked it earlier than when we got home. Very unfortunate and unnecessary as far as we are concerned.

I can’t be more happy than with what I had here at Trattoria Il Capo. We had pulled pork and tuna sandwich and both were super amazing. With no exaggeration, hands down this may have been the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Conquer the world dear owner!

Het eten is hier zo lekker! Dat ik er niet eens foto's van heb kunnen maken. De gevulde chiabatta's zijn geweldig!! Ik had er 1 met kip en die was gewoon perfect! Goed gevuld ook maar je betaald er ook €10 voor. Verder hebben we ook een pizza geprobeerd maar zijn de broodjes echt wel de show stoppers. 100% aan te raden. Zaakje zelf is erg klein, er is wel een terras aanwezig maar wees je ervan bewust als je daar wat wilt gaan eten. Afhalen is ook een mogelijkheid.

Ciabatta met carpaccio, mijn favo! Buiten een klein terras in een gezellige straat, heerlijk om even te zitten wanneer het zonnetje schijnt.

Vriendelijke maar nog een beetje onwennige bediening. Ondanks een 'eigen' fout bij de bestelling werd dit zonder problemen opgelost. Moest wel zelf binnen servetjes en bestek halen.

Heerlijke zelfgemaakte broodjes en pizza! Veel smaak, rijkelijk belegd. Gezellige sfeer. Je kan binnen en buiten zitten. Reserveren is aan te bevelen.

One of the best ciabattas I’ve ever ate! An ultimative food experience. Rotterdam has a great food place in Kralingen and another one in Hillegersberg. During sunny times you can also eat outside on the terrace. The service is young, super friendly, the menue offers a wide range of different dishes and everything is served within 10-15 minutes. That is very fast! My personal preference is the Ciabatta with porchetta, farmer's cheese, red onion, tomato, artichoke, truffle mayonnaise, balsamic vinegar and arugula. Highly recommended!

Heerlijke en rijkelijk belegde pizza en verrukkelijke sandwiches!

Altijd lekkere broodjes. Had alleen laatst broodje salami, maar daar zat wel een centimeter dikke laag salami op, beetje te veel voor de smaak, jammer

Voor de lunch komen eten op het terras en na even wachten werden we geholpen. Maar toen begon het lange wachten op eerst het drinken en toen zo lang op het eten dat een stel dat tegelijkertijd besteld had al klaar was met eten. Daarnaast was het eten zelf ook niet bijzonder en werdt er bij een vraag voor een aanpassing op het gerecht aangegeven dat de chef hier niet van gediend zou zijn en dit dus niet mogelijk is. Terwijl er alleen gevraagd werd 1 deel van het gerecht weg te laten. Al met al een ervaring die ik niet snel zou aanbevelen.

Schönes kleines Lokal. Essen war lecker. Gut besucht zur Mittagszeit. Aussenbereich zum Sitzen direkt an der Straße, es gibt viel zu sehen hier... 😀

Best sandwitches in the world. You cannot get this even in Italy.

Had a very nice experience with the place. The staff is very welcoming, attentive and practical. The food was very tasty. The 150 year old Neapolitan recipe of Ciabatta highly recommended. The Pinot Grigio wine was also good and fresh. The pizza and the Italian meatballs as well.

Goede service, goed betaalbaar en gezellig

Het personeel is erg met zichzelf bezig, staan graag met z'n vieren achter de bar te kletsen of op hun telefoon te kijken. Komen ook niet uit zichzelf langs om nog een extra drankje te bestellen.

Heerlijke broodjes en zeer royaal belegd. Ik vind het afzuigsysteem binnen niet toereikend (kleding ruikt daarna helemaal naar de broodjes) daarom haal ik liever af of zit ik op het terras.

Wij hebben er besteld. De ciabatta met lamsham was écht fantastisch en is een aanrader. Over de service en de sfeer kan ik dus weinig zeggen maar ik ken zo veel mensen die het liefst elke dag naar Il Capo gaan, dat ik 5 sterren zelfs nog te weinig vind. Absoluut een grote aanrader als je heerlijk wil lunchen in Rotterdam!
