Delicious food in a nice atmosphere

We were quite disappointed. We had high expectations, but they were not met. Starters were fine - arancini only lacked salt. Then we had to wait more than 1.5 hours for the main course. Fish of the day was a mini portion with lots of bones. The side dish 'roasted seasonal vegetables' for €5 was absolutely nothing. 3 bites that looked like a bag of frozen vegetables from Albert Heijn. The ravioli was nothing special and also a small portion. Desserts were tasty, especially the torta limone. Service was fine.

My boyfriend took me to this restaurant for my birthday and we haven't eaten so well in a long time. The place is close to the city center but nice and quiet and not touristy so very easy to reach. The interior and the ambiance are cozy and pleasant and there was a nice friendly atmosphere. We were helped by Ludovica and she was very helpful and gave good advice about the dishes. The food was excellent and the price was very reasonable. I recommend the antipasti for two people and the ravioli with lemon sauce. The homemade tiramisu and limoncello were an excellent end to the meal. We found out that there was a promotion for a three-course menu. Even though we hadn't taken this into account, we still got the discount. Polpette gets five stars from me!

Really delicious food - every dish was perfectly seasoned. The chicken could've used a different accompaniment, but that's just a personal preference. The seasoning on the chicken was the best I've ever had and the dessert was also very good. Service was very friendly and quick - very grateful that my server kindly let me practice my Dutch! But the atmosphere of this place is what really makes it stand out; it's small, but bright and airy with lovely big windows and a beautiful view. A very peaceful, welcoming setting.

Very nice and quiet restaurant with delicious traditional Italian food. Sometimes we had too wait a bit longer, but the service and food made that all good. I would 100% come back here, but you should put in a reservation to be sure they have a table available.

We stumbled upon this restaurant around 4pm, ordered one wine, one affogato, and a salad, then sat outside watching the windmill. Everything was lovely. Definitely recommend the salad!

It is special that most of the reviews here are good, because we experienced it completely differently, a terrible experience. Waited more than 1.5 hours for the main course while there were only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant. Starter was tastier than both main courses. Italian was nowhere to be found in the taste, a shame! And then there was a group of boys, one of whom was very loud, which tested my patience...

We ate here with a group and unfortunately had to send dishes back several times... Service was very friendly and helpful

Polpette is a small but very nice restaurant. Service is ok but in English. The food is delicious and for a good price. The interior is modern and attractive. Nice little tables, ideal for dinners with friends, family or your partner. Less suitable for children.

Really delicious food here! The Fiochetti was really delicious (cheese and pear together is a great combination) and so was the Stufato (special Italian dish!). Would like to eat it again today. Gin and tonic also tasty. For dessert we had pannacotta and tiramisu. Service was also good, contrary to what I sometimes read here. Nice service that always arrived on time. The only downside was that it didn't smell that fresh in the restaurant. There was a sewage smell. But that didn't spoil the fun.

Cozy place, suited for dinner with friends or a date night out, lovely small menu with great charcuterie board (you might think what can be special about it untill you try polpette's). I try a different main each time and I am never disappointed, but my desert is always their very best tiramisu.

The food was very tasty, nice wine list but the service was substandard. Extensive cleaning up while we were still eating, clattering cutlery while you are having a nice meal... just not hospitable, so to speak... this is a shame!

It was fine, but not great. Unfortunately, the restaurant also smelled a bit like sewage/pets, I don't know if this was temporary or if it always smells like that.

Dishes taste flat - the Italian touch is missing. The tagliata di manzo was okay but nothing special. The sweet potato was a huge mismatch. The recommended wines do not always match well with the dishes. A sweeter wine is welcome with the cheeses. The wines were probably too cold and not at the right temperature. Price-quality ratio out of balance. Too bad, it seems like the quality has gone down compared to our last visit. Staff regularly left empty glasses on the table. Also no goodbyes when leaving. A bit sloppy when people have just withdrawn a huge amount.

The day's course took us to Trattoria Polpette. The name alone makes it fun. One step inside and you find yourself in a small and attractive restaurant with hints of Italy. Start with an olive roll with green pesto and butter with rosemary and sea salt. A very nice start to a Friday evening. Main eggplant and lasagna. The eggplant is soft and tasty. The lasagna was ordinary and too much carrot and not enough seafood. I also missed the real heartiness of lasagna, but maybe bringing Italy to the Netherlands is an unfair comparison? Finally, three mini desserts with a cup of coffee and tea. The cake was fine and enough, the cookie well filled (cannoli) and the tiramisu firm, but messy in overall structure (liquid coffee/drink was still present at the bottom of the tiramisu). Price quality good. About €40 per person with two drinks per person. All in all a nice place and for 3 seventeenth stars plus a two tenth bonus for the atmosphere this is just fine.

The food was flat. We did not encounter the real Italian flavors. The tenderloin was lamb and the cod was salmon. So 2 main courses that were different than what was on the menu? Too bad if you came for the tenderloin....... We found the price-quality to be out of balance. It is possible that the many good reviews had made our expectations too high. Too bad, but still a disappointment for us.

Had a delicious meal last night in one informal atmosphere, top dishes and because we ate with socialdeal also a top price. Normally the price of a three-course choice menu is €36.50 and that would have been worth it. We will definitely come again.

Este nuevo italiano en Utrecht es una joya de un hallazgo fuera de lo común. Está situado fuera de la ciudad principal, pero cerca de un famoso molino de viento para que pueda encontrarlo fácilmente. Dirigido por un personal femenino, es un lugar acogedor con asientos para unas 30 personas. Una buena selección de cervezas artesanales y vinos, para acompañar la comida. El menú es de tamaño modesto pero ofrece una gama de platos agradables. el Tonnato Vitello era de calidad excepcional por el precio y Finocchio una experiencia creativa maravillosa. Para la alimentación elegimos Lasaña con frutos de mar y risotto, ambos bien presentados y bastante sabrosos. Para terminar teníamos la magnífica tabla de queso. Con unas cuantas bebidas la factura ronda los 100 euros para dos personas, pero sí que se consigue buena comida italiana por el precio. El servicio fue discreto y agradable. Muy recomendable y volverá a probar el resto del menú.

This Italian restaurant opened last week (also Polpette's second location). The food is delicious, the atmosphere feels warm and romantic, the service is friendly and hospitable. The mocktail 'Gingerino' is highly recommended! If you have an intolerance or allergy, this will be taken into account!

Yesterday we had dinner at Polpette with a group of 12. Had no expectations beforehand, but these were far exceeded. Delicious food in a friendly atmosphere. All the dishes we took were of excellent taste and sufficient quantity. Can recommend everyone to eat here.

Heerlijk gegeten bij dit restaurant van een bevlogen kok. Verrassende gerechten uit de Italiaanse keuken, die op eigen wijze worden gebracht. Aandacht voor jouw als klant is goed. Er werd zelfs gevraagd of de nieuwe decafe koffie gesmaakt had.

Super nice cozy restaurant in a nice spot opposite the mill in Utrecht with delicious food. The food is prepared with care and you can tell! The Tonnato Vitello, the Salmone and the Agnello are all highly recommended. The bruchetta salumi was also tasty, although the bruchetta itself was a bit hard and chewy. The Salmone is served with delicious caponata that tasted just right. And the roseval potatoes were also really tasty. The Agnello comes with a soft polenta. Not necessarily my favorite, but nice to eat something different again. And the meat was perfectly cooked! All in all, all well-seasoned dishes with their own twist, making them slightly different than usual. The desserts were good too! We had a cheese board with caramelized sugar bread and a meringue tart. The service was friendly all evening and the time between dishes was also perfect. It was indicated that we could let us know if we wanted dessert and this was also served quickly. The portions are good and the beers on the menu (from the sisters brewery from Utrecht) are also something different! In our opinion, Trattoria Polpette is highly recommended and we would love to come back.

Food excellent in terms of price-quality. But acoustics are terrible.

Polpette cannot live up to expectations. The menu looks nice, the food is tasty but the rest of the experience is bad. The service is really substandard. Drinks are not brought, cutlery is on the table, but when it is finished, cutlery is placed messily on the table as if you were in a student house (the wrong way around!), a bottle of nice wine is placed randomly without any words or giving anything in return, food for share is taken from the table & nothing is said about whether the rest will come and this is far from all. In addition, the place is also very poor acoustically, it reverberates a lot. There are really nicer and better restaurants in Utrecht in this price range!

The location itself is great: opposite the Rijn en Zon tower windmill, the highest windmill in the province of Utrecht and also one of the five highest in the Netherlands. We only came here for a quick coffee and stayed much longer because of the dolci. Lovingly prepared, the perfect service - fully recommended!

Disappointed, the food was okay without being amazing, expensive for what it was. The spaghetti meatballs can easily be done at home. Service : strict minimum. No extra effort. Ambiance : really noisy restaurant. Overall : 3/5 stars.

Super nice place with the same service, it's a pity that the allergies were not properly listened to so that a meal had to be remade. That can happen, but that's not a pleasant meal... Better luck next time !

Heerlijk modern Italiaans eten op een toplocatie

Heerlijk gegeten! Vriendelijke ontvangst, goeie kaart met niet te veel keuze. Gerechten waren mooi opgemaakt en smaakten voortreffelijk. De tiramisu was een échte tiramisu ;-) top!

Lekker eten, beetje amateuristische bediening ( duurde vaak ook wel voor we de aandacht hadden van de bediening) en de porties van het eten waren véél te klein! De vis van de dag was echt een voorgerecht en we hadden allemaal nog honger na het dessert…

Gaan lunchen bij Polpette. We werden al niet begroet; het personeel was te druk met kletsen in de keuken. Ook daarna regelmatig zelf moeten vragen om te kunnen bestellen, we voelden ons echt een beetje vergeten! En dat terwijl we een deel van de tijd de enige tafel waren. Ik snap dat je dan wat andere dingen gaat doen, maar daar horen de gasten geen last van te hebben toch (glazen flessen verzamelen, gesprekken erg luid in de keuken). Jammer van deze ervaring, want het eten was best lekker..

Menu en uitstraling beloven wel wat. Helaas heeft Polpette de hoge verwachtingen niet waar kunnen maken. Bediening erg langzaam en ze gaan niet echt voor de ervaring, je moet bijv. zelf om de gerechten van de dag vragen. Ossobuco was droog en werkelijk smakeloos. De risotto Milanese bevatte te veel saus in verhouding met rijst. Serveerster ging dit 'doorgeven aan de keuken' maar daar heb je natuurlijk niet zo veel aan.. Polpette (gerecht) wel erg lekker, Gingerino ook leuk gedaan.

Wel aardig, personeel moet nog veel leren.

We waren onder de indruk van de zorgvuldig samengestelde wijnkaart en de smaakvolle gerechten, die een mooie balans boden tussen klassieke en moderne keuken. Helaas was de ervaring minder aangenaam als het op de service aankwam. We wachtten meer dan een half uur op ons eerste drankje na aankomst en moesten zelf informeren naar de wekelijkse specials. Mijn vriendin's hoofdgerecht was vergeten, en er was geen communicatie over wat er was misgegaan of wanneer we het konden verwachten. Nog teleurstellender is dat er geen enkele vorm van compensatie werd aangeboden voor deze tekortkomingen in de service. Ook leek het personeel weinig aandacht te hebben voor de gasten; we moesten zelf moeite doen om hun aandacht te trekken voor bijvoorbeeld een glas bijvullen. Ondanks de uitstekende keuken zijn we uiteindelijk gefrustreerd en teleurgesteld vertrokken.

Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed with the place. First we were asked to move to a 2 person table because it was going to get busy, this would have been absolutely fine if the next couple that literally sat down at the same table 1 minute later with 2 people would have also had to move… but they were there the rest of the time with also just the two of them. The starter was pretty tasty and the wine was also nice. Unfortunately both our mains were lukewarm and lacked flavour. My dish involved a lamb shank and their was barely/no meat on it. Really sad because this place is in our neighbourhood and we would have loved to make it a standard, but we won’t be coming back.

Knus restaurantje met mooie kaart. Vriendelijke bediening. Op vrijdagavond was het goed druk, de keuken kon dit niet helemaal aan, dus het duurde ca 1,5 uur voor we het hoofdgerecht kregen. Gezellige sfeer, wel veel lawaai, het zou goed zijn om de akoestiek iets te verbeteren.

Ook deze locatie is super sfeervol ingericht het eten is een ware smaak explosie!! Heerlijk! Vriendelijk personeel. Wij komen beslist terug.

Een heerlijke lunch vandaag, Vitello tonnato met tonijnsalade, een echte aanrader. Je voelt aan alles dat er met passie wordt gekookt. De bediening zeer vriendelijk en gezellig. Wij komen zeker terug!!
