Staff was nice, really busy place a lot of atmosphere.

It's a shame about the standard all-you-can concept and the luxury all-you-can-eat concept. I was with my daughter and I only wanted the luxury all-you-can-eat (like scallops, salmon, and more upscale sushi). One-person luxury isn't possible!! Okay, then both luxury. Quite expensive, but okay... everything is all-inclusive because it's all-you-can-eat... turns out dessert isn't included... just annoying. You already pay 95 euros with a few drinks for 2 people for 0 service. The wait staff are wearing tracksuits, Nikes, and a baseball cap. They don't know the first thing. Fine, I know the concept, but for almost 100 euros I can also eat at a reasonably high level without this all-you-can(not)eat concept. If you take the deluxe concept, everything is included for an extra charge... however, dessert isn't...

Nice atmosphere downstairs, plenty of space between the tables. Tasty food, convenient to order yourself via an iPad, although there were often items in the ‘shopping cart’ that we didn’t click on. Service a bit lacking; they don’t speak Dutch and clear away rarely used glasses and plates. Somewhat clumsy. Great price. I will definitely come back.

Drove all the way from The Hague to Utrecht to eat at your place, but it was terrible. The sushi was not fresh at all, and I don't know how you roll those sushi rolls; they were practically falling apart. I have never eaten at such a bad sushi place; it was a real disappointment. An ebi roll is supposed to be crispy and warm; there wasn't even a shrimp in it. Very unfortunate.

My first visit was wonderful; the friendly service and delicious food, along with the unique scenery along the canal, made for a perfect ending to my trip.

We went out for a bite to eat with colleagues; we had only chosen the Deluxe Menu as an option. This allowed us to try dishes from the entire menu, and every single one of them was delicious! Unfortunately, there were occasional glitches with the service, and some dishes didn't arrive at the table, or only arrived very late. It also happened that we received dishes and a drink up to four times that none of us had ordered. Luckily, we were able to have one of the waitresses remove the drink from the bill, but we felt the ordering process was a bit chaotic at times. All in all, we had a great meal, and I rolled home afterwards 😁

12-07-2026 We had reserved on time. Upon arrival, the lady pointed to a table in the corner. We thought for a moment that we were in the wrong restaurant. When we walked downstairs, we finally saw what we had seen online, so we asked if we could sit downstairs and the woman said no. I asked why? She said downstairs closes at 6:30, which is strange because I didn't see the guests sitting downstairs leaving until around 9 o'clock. Very unfortunate. The dishes are tasty, and the sushi and everything is fresh, but the service wasn't friendly. At least upstairs where you enter. Downstairs had a much nicer atmosphere, but we weren't allowed to sit there even though it was half empty :(

We had a delicious meal and a pleasant evening. Personally, I have had better sushi before. Some of the fried dishes were a bit chewy, possibly because they had been fried slightly too long. There were just the two of us, and we got the impression that the attention was mainly focused on the larger groups present. Nevertheless, we had a nice evening.

Food is really below any expectations. The cuts of the fishes are so tiny that looks like carpaccio. The price is high the food is terrible. The service is amazing, the only thing that worth there.

I soon had a bad feeling after the first round of sushi. At home, that turned out to be completely true. I suffered from stomach pain, nausea, and vomited. I will never be seen in this place again.

My friend highly recommended that I eat at Umami if I ever visit Utrecht! Today I celebrated Father's Day with my husband and it was a wonderful surprise! Beautiful surroundings and stylish decor. The salmon was incredibly fresh and the sushi had a wide variety of flavors. We ordered the deluxe menu and were amazed when the oysters arrived – each one was almost as big as a hand! The various stir-fries and steamed dumplings left us completely full! For such a wide selection, it was absolutely great value for money! The service was also excellent. We will definitely be back!

WORTHLESS Because of the many good reviews, my girlfriend and I thought this would be a good restaurant, but that turned out not to be the case at all. The sushi on the menu looks very different from what you actually get. We started with salmon sushi, but it had virtually no taste and was mainly incredibly salty. That is why we only ordered the spicy chicken sushi after that. We didn't dare order salmon or tuna anymore, because we had completely lost faith. The sushi rice was dry, and I even doubt if it was real sushi rice or just normal rice. The chicken was also very bland. The carpaccio was the only dish that was decent to eat. At the end, we ordered the Japanese beef. After one bite, we looked at each other and both almost threw up. We eventually hid it under a sauce from another dish so we wouldn't have to pay extra for food we didn't finish. It's a shame that you also have to pay for dessert. Perhaps that was the only thing that was even remotely edible, although I had little faith left in it after the rest of the meal. The price-quality ratio is truly ridiculous. You pay a lot of money for food of very poor quality. We were allowed to stay for two hours, but left after about fifty minutes. That pretty much says it all. I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We are fans of this type of restaurant. Menu put together by a Chinese chef... Everything was way too sweet! We chose the deluxe menu, but we couldn't find anything extra "deluxe" about it! Much too expensive for the quality provided!

We ate here for the first time today for our son's birthday, at his request. Delicious, high-quality food; there is also plenty of choice for people who don't like sushi. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

I just called to make a reservation and asked if it was possible to bring a stroller. To my surprise, I was told that this is not allowed. I find this absolutely unacceptable and very disappointing, especially since a stroller is simply essential for many parents.

Really nice all-you-can-eat Asian buffet right alongside Utrecht’s canal. You order food on a tablet, and dishes come out pretty fast without long waits. They have fresh sushi and thick-cut sashimi alongside fried snacks, dumplings and grilled bites. Everything tastes well-seasoned and not overly greasy. Staff clear tables regularly and are welcoming. Great price for the quality, easily one of my go-to spots in Utrecht.

Honestly, I have eaten at many sushi restaurants in the Netherlands and this is the worst one. Maybe i have high standards I don't know but. The Nori was just plain bad. It tasted old and poor quality. For some reason they don't serve wasabi on the table which I think is very strange for a sushi restaurant. The food just simply had no flavour and tasted watered down. In particular the salmon fried rice was just inedible. The things we did like were just OK. I would definitely say to avoid this restaurant if you have any good taste. About the service. We got served a dish three times that we did not order. The atmosphere was fine. Bit crowdy. Honestly, I almost never leave reviews. But I was genuinely very disappointed about the restaurant and I feel like I threw away my money.

The sushi here is very tasty and the selection is quite varied. It is also nice that you can decide along the way whether to order 1 or 2 deluxe options for a small extra charge, instead of having to select the special menu in advance.

Overall, I had a great experience at this restaurant. The environment was clean and comfortable, making it a nice place for gatherings with friends or even a date night. The dishes we ordered were all delicious, and the ingredients tasted fresh. The scallops and lamb chops were especially impressive and definitely exceeded my expectations. It was very disappointing this time. I’ve been coming to this place for around half a year now with friends and family, so I definitely know the difference in quality compared to before. Unfortunately, the consistency has really shifted over time, and what made it more frustrating was the lack of transparency about the changes. My order was wrong multiple times. Instead of scallops, I received mushy oysters. Instead of crispy chili prawns, I got soft prawns in sauce that were quite tasteless. And instead of mochi ice cream, I received a side of ice cream with separate plain mochi piece. As far as I know, mochi ice cream is supposed to be mochi with ice cream inside. The issue is that these dishes used to be served differently before, so clearly things have changed, yet nothing on the menu mentions it. If certain items are unavailable, replaced, or prepared differently now, customers should be informed properly or the menu should be updated especially since the desserts are not free. Sadly, after this experience I won’t be coming back anymore. Of course, everyone can still give it a try and decide for themselves, but for me it’s no longer worth it. Staff was normal, additional sweet lady at the reception.

For a price of 47 euros per person, you would expect dessert to be included in the price; unfortunately, you pay 1.50 euros per scoop of ice cream. I ate at Umami this week. The food itself was fine, but not particularly special. Unfortunately, the service really left a lot to be desired. We had to wait a very long time for our drinks. When I asked a young employee where my drinks were, he just looked at me and walked away. I found that very unprofessional and not customer-friendly. Also, the dishes were simply placed on the table without any explanation, even though it is nice to know what you are being served. It is a real shame, because with better service, the experience would have been much more pleasant.

Mediocre. The food isn't special, but it's fine. The portions are small, though. The staff, on the other hand, were poor and uninterested. We didn't receive the first round until 45 minutes later. Dishes were missing in three out of four rounds. During the last round, they went to check, indicated they would reorder it, and said it would be there in 5 minutes, but those four dishes never arrived after waiting for another 20 minutes or so. I pointed this out when paying; the waiter said he didn't know either. I hope for their sake it was a King's Day hangover, because this was downright bad.

Very poor selection of sushi on the menu; the garlic prawns were swimming in an unappetizing-looking garlic sludge. The floor below was hot and smelled strongly of sweat. The toilets also stank terribly. Service was also mediocre; every time we asked for wasabi, we received a tiny dollop that was enough for three pieces of sushi. The passion fruit lemonade tasted chemical and was sickly sweet; I couldn't even finish it.

Because we wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and our favorite sushi restaurant was closed, we ended up here. Unfortunately, I got sick after the meal. The sushi was far from fresh. We also asked for a glass of sparkling water, and a bottle was immediately placed on the table. Later, we noticed that you can also just order a glass or a small bottle. Anyway, you won't see me here again.

As someone who has eaten authentic sushi in Japan, my verdict is particularly clear: this restaurant has nothing to do with high-quality sushi. The dishes are unbalanced – the rice content is excessive and overpowers the already barely perceptible natural flavor of the fish. The freshness and quality one expects from sushi are simply not present. Overall, the offerings feel more like mass production than carefully prepared Japanese cuisine. The service was also underwhelming. The staff seemed uncertain, inattentive, and unhelpful, which further negatively impacted the overall impression. Anyone who values ​​good, flavorful food or expects authentic sushi should definitely look elsewhere. Even within an all-you-can-eat concept, a certain standard of quality should be maintained – which is sadly not the case here.

We had a reservation and waited 10 minutes for someone to greet us and tell us which table we could sit at. A line formed at the entrance with other people who also had reservations. What's the point of booking then? Then we waited another 10 minutes for a tablet to be brought to us. I understand it was busy, but empty plates were barely cleared from our table. New plates with dishes were literally thrown at us by the waiters, though a few of them were genuinely nice. You pay for the Deluxe menu but desserts aren't even included, what a joke. We waited 20-25 minutes for French fries. And seriously, why did you stick a crab stick on rice and call yourself Asian cuisine? The only tasty things there were the grilled meat and rolls from the Deluxe menu, and even then, what you get looks very different from the menu photos. This food is not worth the price

We went out to eat here today with friends. We had high expectations due to the 4.4 stars, but this was totally not what we expected. It took a long time for the food to be served, and it all came out separately. Furthermore, the food did not look fresh at all; the rice was very hard, and many ingredients were tough. We ordered a second round with different dishes to see if we liked that better. But that was a total disappointment; we were all nauseous, and two of us even threw up because of it. I spoke to a waitress about this, but she insisted that it wasn't their fault that the food was fresh and that no one was complaining. I absolutely did not want to pay the full price for this; they were completely uncooperative. It was a very bad experience and certainly not recommended.

The most delicious sushi I have ever eaten! Good service, you don't have to wait long and can order 4 dishes at a time! The only downside I found was that we were sitting too close to other people. But for the food and the service, a solid 10!

It was okay. The price was about €40 per person (excluding drinks). Unfortunately, some dishes were cold when they should have been warm. Also, it sometimes took a long time for dishes to be served, meaning we didn't receive items from round 2 until round 3. The food was fine, but nothing special.

I can't imagine the positive reactions. I didn't find the food tasty, and you had to pay for desserts, which wasn't mentioned anywhere. Also, several times something was served that no one had ordered. At €58 per person, Umami is grossly overestimating itself. The explanation for the extra charge for dessert was that the price was based on the food alone. We had the deluxe menu. In my opinion, dessert is also food. The atmosphere was lackluster, and the service was very amateurish. Sorry, I can't be more positive.

Went here for the first time, and I really enjoyed it! This is becoming one of my favorite Ayce Japanese restaurants!! Delicious food, great drinks too, fast service, nice restaurant. It's a shame that when the music stopped, I have no idea why. Will definitely go again. The menu is nice, but it needs replacing a bit, and some plates were slightly broken.

They sent us away. They told us at the beginning we can order for 2h (ofc i understand that, because it is AYCE). But they didn't tell us we had to leave after 2h. We thought we can order for 2h and still order dessert and drinks after (desserts and drinks are not included in the AYCE price. They gave us the receipt because the people were waiting for their table. And we had to leave. Bad communication.

Dear google readers, Me and a friend saw this on google maps and wanted to try this restaurant. My friend really thought the drinks looked devine. I booked a reservation online. and it was sadly in all english. but i guess that's how Utrecht is. We got a spot and arrived well on time. We did had a spot downstairs. and the atmosphere was nice. but it could get very crowded in a small space where everyone talks loud. We got helped by a young man and he was very helpfull with explaining how all you can eat works. And if we had allergies and wrote down which dishes had these products in them. He really handeld the night well We only had 3 rounds. but at the first round it took almost 30 ~ 45 mins to get our 1st round. and we already added the 2nd round. and we still did not get every order of our 1st round. after waiting so long for our dishes we decided to get our 3rd round. in the hope we would get more dishes but sadly only got some. almost every sushi dish was not delivered. it was DISSAPOINTING. you pay 50e per person for Diner Deluxe(DRINKS EXCLUDED). but i left like i did not ate anything at all. it was just "Diner" at best. Price wise it was expensive. 50e for deluxe but we did not even get everything. So it felt way too overpriced. Overall I am really happy with the waiter. he kinda made up for the evening. But paying 130e for not even having all the dishes is a real let down. I drinks ended up pretty nice. at the atmosphere was alright for the evening. but i expected more. 2 out of 5 stars. Because of the waiter Like my review if it was any help.

I would not recommend this place. We ordered via the tablet and we received almost none of the ordered sushi. Only the non-sushi dishes will come. After an hour, we highlighted it to the staff . After a second hour, again. The staff communication with us was very poor. When they told us our time was up, we negociated that they will take our order on a paper ( because at this point, we had 4 sushi per person) and leave us extra time ( no discount could be done) Very unsatisfactory experience.

We ate here yesterday with two friends, but honestly, we can't believe the many positive reviews. Our experience was unfortunately disappointing. Almost all the dishes were either tasteless or overly seasoned with far too much pepper. It really lacked balance and refinement. What we received felt more like standard "food shed" food to be served quickly than delicious, fresh sushi that had been carefully crafted. Some dishes were also served lukewarm. To make matters worse, one of my friends got sick later that evening and had severe stomach problems. All in all, there's no reason for us to return.

Very bad experience on Valentine's day this year. We had a reservation for our entire family of 5 adults to celebrate something unrelated to Valentine's, but was not told that there are extra charges on this day and lunch menus will be 10 euros more expensive than normal. So we had to pay 50 euros more, and the service was extremely slow. For 5 whole rounds none of the sushi/maki/nigiri came out, we could only eat salad or warm dishes. And then at the very end of the meal they all came out at once, but we were already full with warm dishes and salads by then. We were very disappointed by this meal. It costed 200 euros total, without drink!

We went here on Valentine's Day, so I'll cut them some slack with this, but service was extremely slow regarding the sushi. Other dishes came out relatively quickly, but we were already at the point of leaving, our plates already taken away, when some sushi arrived we had ordered over an hour earlier. That said, Valentine and it was extremely busy so... Might not be the normal experience. Quality of the food is absolutely great though, the extra items you can choose from of the deluxe menu are absolutely worth the small price, they're delicious. The sushi on there, absolutely some of the best we've ever had.

We went for dinner on February 16, 2026. Upon arrival, we had to wait five minutes, and a staff member looked at us three times, ignoring us. We were then sent downstairs, and no one came with us. We sat there for an hour, and my girlfriend and I felt unwell. We both ended up hovering over the toilet, feeling like someone had sambal smeared on our bottoms. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!!

I ate here today with my partner. I felt there wasn't enough variety at all. The steak had a bit of fat on it and didn't taste like steak. The chicken was very tough, and the sushi rice was hard, as if it was old. Several times, dishes were completely forgotten. We had to ask for them. Drink bottles were put on the table, but the glasses were forgotten. Not a pleasant experience; there are so many better places than this.

They give your food to someone else

My husband and I visited recently for lunch on a Sunday. The menu has lots of options from sushi to cooked items. You get the table for up to 2 hours and can order 4 items per person at a time. It was our first visit but won’t be our last.
