Definitely worth repeating, good food and friendly staff, definitely worth repeating.

I stood waiting for ten minutes while three employees stood behind the counter. They saw us, but didn't say a word and didn't help us either!!! Worthless!!!

Verhage is always tasty. But the fact that the peanut sauce and chicken are sold out 3 hours before closing time is not good..

Had to wait a very long time for our food; they were constantly busy with other things than helping the customer, and they even forgot items in the order! I had to chase after them myself every time! In short, bad service! It's a shame, do something about it because the food is actually tasty... and if you say something about it, they just stare at you as if they've seen a ghost... better staff are hard to find, but come on! Do something about this!

Things have gone downhill since the owner himself stopped being present. Food arrives waaaaay late and is cold too. The guy who has worked there for years is awful to look at. He doesn't even smile, it's like someone is holding a gun to his head for making him work there, absolutely not friendly!!!!!! And the atmosphere in the kitchen is not to be missed either; throws plates very hard while serving, aggressive gait. Dutch guy who has worked there for years, a shame about his attitude.

Terrible experience. The service was incredibly slow, and the staff seemed unorganized. We ordered specific items, but later found out that some of them were unavailable. The biggest disappointment was that the food looked nothing like the pictures on the menu. The presentation and quality were completely different from what was advertised. Very misleading and unprofessional. Definitely not recommended.

It takes a ridiculously long time for the order to be ready; we have been sitting here for an hour already and they still aren't finished making the food. Absolutely do not eat here.

What terrible service. An order to eat on the premises was only half brought, they said, the rest would be here shortly. It turned out they had forgotten about it, then the fries were brought and we had to wait another half hour for the chicken. Consequently, the fries were cold again. The Hindustani lady behind the counter didn't even apologize or anything. She asks me: "Didn't you receive the food?!" Oh no, otherwise I wouldn't be standing here!! Don't you listen to your customers? Terrible!!!

We had a delicious meal on Friday. The atmosphere was great, and the staff member, Peter, was a friendly man and made the food fantastic. We'll definitely be back.

This year, I ate at Ahoy again for the umpteenth time. The bacon burger menu was delicious and plentiful, and all for a great price. After the change of ownership, some guests will undoubtedly have changed, as that always happens, but I really don't understand all the negative comments. The staff, although friendly, don't deserve this.

All the staff are super friendly, especially the guy with the glasses (a familiar face, I think). He's always attentive to what's happening in the store, cleans up quickly, and is a hard worker. Zero stars. Unprofessional, disrespectful behavior towards customers. No service, no teamwork. Ordered chicken, waited 30 minutes. An employee came to say that because they have to close after an hour, they couldn't give the order. What lazy, unmotivated employees. Never again.

Getting a refund wasn't easy either: no one would take care of anything, I had to go back to the cash register myself. Drinks? Of course, forgotten. The staff was disorganized, communication was nonexistent, and the atmosphere was unpleasant. This isn't service, this is a waste of time and money. Absolutely never again.

Last year, we went to Verhage Zuidplein with a large group during Vrienden van Amstel Live, which was unfortunately a disaster. This year, we decided to give it another try. Yesterday, six of us dined there and we were very satisfied! The food was on the table within 20 minutes, and everything arrived at the same time, even though we had all ordered separately. The cashier was very considerate of us by keeping the receipts separate until everyone had ordered. In addition, the same employee regularly checked in to ask if everything was to our liking and if there was anything he could do for us. That really made us feel cared for and provided excellent service. Afterward, both the man and the young woman who were there wished us a wonderful evening. Thank you for the excellent service! We will definitely be back next year, hopefully with the same positive experience.

Extremely bad. Placed an order and still hadn't arrived after 25/30 minutes. When I approached the staff, they became defensive. It's ready. Sorry, but two menus don't take 35 minutes. People after me had already received their orders. They claimed to have given me everything. Which isn't true. While ordering, a young Surinamese man was busy talking to his niece, who is under 10, as if she were at home. I had to ask for my order three times. When I asked for a refund, they said, "It's ready." Which isn't the case, since they forgot. I asked for a refund for the menu with the sauce and a separate snack. They won't refund me the money for the sauce. What do you expect me to do with that sauce! Extremely bad.

What a disaster... I received a cold hamburger twice, forgot a snack, ordered loaded fries without arugula due to an allergy, and they actually had arugula on them. Then they asked: is it bad that it has arugula on it? No, we're just jokingly ordering it without...? The staff is completely useless and incredibly slow. After returning to the counter four times, we received the order exactly as we ordered it. Now, 50 minutes later. Worthless, not worth the money!

Unfortunately, Verhage Zuidplein has gone downhill since the new owner took over. The portions are smaller, the quality is disappointing, and customer service leaves much to be desired. You have to wait a long time for your order, and I witnessed the manager getting into an argument with a customer. I also saw several takeaway customers return because their order was incomplete. I gave it a chance twice, but both times it was disappointing. The only ‘old-school’ employee does remain friendly, but otherwise, this is no longer a pleasant experience for me. I will not be coming back.

I ate here yesterday with my mother and sister, and we'd never experienced anything like it. We had two fries, two croquettes, and a chicken schnitzel menu. After waiting about 30 minutes, we initially received two fries and one croquette. A few minutes later, we received the chicken schnitzel menu. My croquette was supposed to be coming later. After 20 minutes, I received my croquette. I took one bite, and it was frozen solid. I immediately went back and asked for a new one. After waiting about 20 minutes, my mother asked where it was. I was asked if I wanted to take it with me or eat it here, and I said I would. After 10 minutes, a young man brought our croquette and said, "I saw there were two croquettes that you ate." We explained that we had sent one back because it was frozen. The young man replied that this wasn't true, that we had eaten two croquettes, and now we're getting one more. He turned around and walked away. We followed him and tried to argue. The man said he'd look at the footage to prove we'd already eaten two croquettes. We then told him we wanted him to, because it obviously wasn't true. After this, he ignored us and said he needed to speak to his manager. The manager then arrived and confirmed that we had indeed sent one croquette back and asked if we wanted anything extra. We said no and told him it was absolutely unacceptable to be accused of eating an extra croquette. It's bizarre to accuse customers like that. We'll never come here again.

I ate here two years ago, and back then it was 5 stars. Went again yesterday. Waited 45 minutes for 2 burgers with 2 fries, the tables around us even longer. The employee apologized to everyone and did her best, but when I read similar reviews here, it appears to be a structural problem.

We arrived here well ahead of time and had to wait 1.5 hours for our order. Many other guests waited even longer, and the staff kept taking orders for takeaway while the restaurant was full. Very bad business.

What a terrible place! People, don't go here! I've never experienced anything so bad. My girlfriend and I ordered two sandwiches, paid for them at the ordering terminal, and were told they were out of them. Strange for a place like this, but okay, it happens. So, we ordered something else. My friend ordered a burger, and I ordered a chicken satay with fries. We had to wait an hour even though it wasn't incredibly busy. Meanwhile, we asked a few times where our food was, and each time they gave a different excuse. They said they'd forgotten our order and that they'd give us extra bites as compensation. Okay, fine. 20 minutes later, still nothing. We asked again where it was, and they said, "The plate is being prepared now, it'll be right there." My girlfriend got her burger, and I... nothing! Okay, I'll wait a bit longer. Another 20 minutes later, and still no satay! My girlfriend had already finished her burger, of course, because if she had to wait that long for me, her whole meal would be cold. I asked someone again where my food was... but you guessed it, nothing came! It was nice to have a nice meal together, only to have one person get nothing! After an hour, I got fed up and demanded my money back. None of the staff could explain it to me. During the hour we were there, the staff wandered around aimlessly, constantly taking wrong orders, and had no idea what they were doing. Absolutely everything went wrong there! I've never seen such a disorganized mess. Mostly young staff who don't belong in the hospitality industry. So, again, don't go there, you'll regret it!

We waited more than 40 minutes for our food. Then we were served cold fries, cold frikandellen, and cold, tough satay. The peanut sauce still had to be made, and they had forgotten the potato wedges. After waiting another 15 minutes for potato wedges that never arrived, we asked for our money back and left. You used to be able to get good food here, but that is a thing of the past. That one star you have to give here on Google is actually already one too many. There are plenty of other options in Zuidplein to grab a bite to eat.

The waiter came over and told my girlfriend she had to eat her bread outside, even though I had ordered food and drinks from Verhagen. They indicated it was a house rule, but there was no prohibition sign anywhere. When I said I wanted to cancel my order and get my money back, the waiter took off his glasses as if he was getting ready for a fight and said he never wanted to see us again. The food doesn't taste like it used to, you wait much longer, and they are totally unfriendly. I wonder how these people are allowed to have the name Verhagen; it has become a disgrace. I used to go there all the time, but now certainly never again!!!!

Ordered online via Thuisbezorgd. After an hour, I decided to call. I called the number I got from Thuisbezorgd and immediately got a recorded message saying this store is closed. Half an hour later, they called. They were going to deliver. No thanks. I had already gotten other food for the children. He did offer an apology, though. Very disappointing.

If you're craving cold fries, wrong orders, and employees who try to blame their own mistakes on the customer: go to Verhage Zuidplein. We asked for wedges and got cold fries. The employee misunderstood his own order, walked back and forth twice, and then decided, cold as a whistle, that we had to pay an extra €2.30 for his mistake. And the best part: "Would you like to take this food then?" Born and raised in Vreewijk, Rotterdam, I knew Pim and Joop, the founders of this chain. Their picture still hangs prominently on the wall. But the service with (laughing) smiles is gone. The food, and that's what you come for, was top-notch. I get it, this isn't a *** restaurant where you're treated with the utmost respect. But hey, a smile costs nothing, right? The whole atmosphere brightens up.

How this Verhagen has deteriorated in the last six months. 2 burgers and 1 sandwich 50 minutes waiting. But unfortunately it can be worse 3 X sandwich 40 minutes and see that the order is not correct. When I indicate this the order goes to the back and we get looks from a lady as if it is our fault. Another tip for this lady if you do not want to work here find something else.

And I don't think it's the intention to get your food 55 minutes later at a fast food restaurant.

Food is always nice, I can't give a 5 because I always eat the same (zalm tostie) it's actually really good but I don't know about the other options. But the staff always nice. Overall Denice, she was on kassa and help me a lot because I get confused with the payment and she helped me a lot.

Eten was lauw, kreeg zacht broodje in plaats van stokbrood bij saté. Het eten was echt niet goed warm. Heb hier sltjjd goed gegeten maar nu viel het zwaar tegen. Kon nog wel stokbrood krijgen maar dan was m'n saté helemaal koud geweest.

Perhaps a hint for the new owner to include Verhage's meatballs on the menu. They are currently not available at Zuidplein.

Delicious meal at Verhage! Last Friday I had dinner at Verhage and it was a great experience! I had the stew, and it was perfectly prepared – tender, flavorful and just the way it should be. My friend went for the Compete menu and was also very satisfied with it. The portions were generous and everything tasted good. In addition, the service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere in the store was pleasant. Definitely recommended if you fancy a good meal with quality! We moesten drie kwartier op ons drinken wachten en zelfs een uur op ons eten. Toen het eten er eenmaal was, kregen we dit niet tegelijk en aten we praktisch om de beurt. Het eten was overigens wel prima.

Food was fine, it was just not clear to us that you had to order at the cash register and that no orders would be taken, which is the impression you get when there are menu cards on the table.

I bought a sandwich, of course I had to wait a while for it. My friend who was with me was told that she could not take a bite of her sandwich because she had not bought it from them. I wanted to buy drinks but I didn't feel like doing that anymore. Toasti was not tasty either.

The staff could be a bit friendlier. It does not have to be said in a catty way that a customer who has ordered €25 worth of food is told that no other food can be eaten. This could be communicated in a normal tone.

Food looked good. Unfortunately the bread was old and burnt. The tuna salad came from a package and was not home made. The raw vegetables were brown. The onions were really coarsely chopped. And lots of capers.

This Verhage is located in the busy shopping center, the tables are well arranged so that you can still sit quietly. Unfortunately, the menu is quite limited for a Verhage restaurant and the emphasis is on chicken dishes and halal, which suits the location well.

Had a delicious meal at Verhagen on the Zuidplein. We will definitely come back again. It was quite busy, but the wait wasn't too bad. Friendly employees.

Had a delicious carpaccio sandwich and the cappucino was very tasty. It's nice that there is a choice of brown (soft) bread. Bread nice and fresh. Friendly service and nicely decorated.

Delicious fries rendang. I would choose to serve the atjar separately. The rendang was tender and nicely seasoned. The fries at the bottom of the bowl had become completely soggy (I think because of the moist atjar) and that made it not very tasty to eat. Furthermore, a cozy place with friendly staff. We did notice that the seats were a bit tight because the tables were fixed, It is understandable that you want to make optimal use of the space and with a bit of trial and error it will work just fine.

Love coming here, it has really tasty soft ice cream.
