Super cozy and good Italian food

We had an excellent meal. Deliciously freshly prepared! We were there for lunch, but choosing from the dinner menu was no problem at all. We initially found the fact that we were the only guests a bit lonely, but that was more than made up for by Roberto, who served us excellently with the occasional witty remark. Compliments!

A cozy restaurant like you often find in Italy, with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of options. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly and attentive to the guests. Even on a weekday, it's no problem to linger a bit longer and have an extra drink.

I had expected somewhat richer sauces; melted butter with oil was a bit too easy. This is the second time. Tuna starter; the slices couldn't have been thinner. Next time, just a pizza.

Last Saturday, we dined here with four people. The service was appalling. So, very bad. We ordered a second beer and wine, which sat on the bar for quite a while. There was plenty of staff walking by to serve it, but apparently that was asking too much. I was tempted to grab it from the bar myself. After a while, we finally received our drinks. The serving of the main course was not okay. Normally, you get your plate neatly placed on the table right in front of you, but that was not the case here. You just had to take the plate from above the table. The food itself was good, but everything surrounding it regarding the staff was terrible. No attention to the guests, which you would normally expect in this type of restaurant. The conclusion is that we will never visit this restaurant again, and on top of that, it is quite pricey. I don't mind that if you get a pleasant feeling and experience in return.

On a cycling holiday in Amstelveen, after two evenings with less-than-successful restaurant choices, we ended up at Villa Borghese on the third evening. What a discovery! From the very first moment, we were warmly welcomed. The hospitality was genuine, the service friendly and attentive, and the food was truly delicious. Everything was just right: the flavorful Italian cuisine, the cozy atmosphere, the beautiful, well-maintained interior and terrace! So good, in fact, that we never hesitated for a moment during the rest of our stay. Every evening we returned with pleasure to ‘our Italian restaurant’; it felt a bit like coming home every time. Thank you for the warm welcome and the wonderful evenings. If we are ever in Amstelveen again, we already know where we will be dining again! From the 4 Belgians.

In this heat, they didn't have any cold wine, and we had to wait at least half an hour for it. The food was so-so. The pizza was very bad. Never again for me.

Upon entering, the place already looks very chic and spacious. Once we were seated, the whole table ordered a variety of pizzas. They were incredibly delicious! Lots of cheese, a thin base with a crispy crust—exactly how we like it. The tiramisu was also top-notch. Nice and firm, not too soft or hard. Just good. It is also nice for a change not to be asked if you want a new drink with every sip. Just raise a hand and the wait staff comes straight to the table. Once we had finished eating, we all received a complimentary shot of limoncello on the house. We will definitely be back here soon!

The best carbonara in 48 years. The two male servers were polite and charming; the female server seemed a bit annoyed with us, but the delicious food more than made up for it. I would have liked a few more noodles... simply because the flavor was so wonderful. We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. There's a parking lot nearby, complete with an electric vehicle charging station.

Luckily, we found Villa Borghese in Amstelveen! A very nice, large Italian restaurant set back a bit from the road. Good parking nearby. Very friendly and attentive staff. We were offered a table on the beautifully landscaped terrace. We felt like we were sitting right in the middle of nature. Although the restaurant was quite busy (midweek), we were served fairly quickly. We were happy to wait for our food (there were two birthday parties!), as we immediately felt comfortable among the other guests with our drinks served promptly. Our meal was, as expected, excellent! Prices range from $$ to $$$. A visit to Villa Borghese is definitely worthwhile.

We had dinner here last night with a group of five and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. A special thank you to Elisa, who provided outstanding service throughout the evening. She made us feel very welcome and contributed greatly to an unforgettable dining experience. I have never eaten so badly. The specially recommended dish, oven-baked turbot, was tasteless; in my opinion, it was just a small dish. Not seasoned or salted. The vegetables consisted of soggy broccoli stalks and a few undercooked, hard carrots. The fish, or at least what it was supposed to be, had lost its flesh in the oven. There was barely 100 grams of fish left on the bone. The potato pieces (small square cubes) were salty and disgustingly greasy. Everything was just thrown onto a plate; it was a terrible sight. My wife had a recipe containing mussels, among other things, of which 3 out of 4 were still closed. You should never eat those; they make you deathly ill. I refused to pay, and didn't. Next to us sat a gentleman and a young lady with a gigantic German Shepherd. That is allowed there, though a choking beast like that is very unappetizing. Advice: never dine here; it is particularly bad.

We had a delicious meal here. That tiramisu, I have never eaten such delicious tiramisu before. Everything is taken care of down to the last detail, and the staff is very friendly. It really feels like a big family where you are warmly welcomed. We will definitely be coming back more often.

We came in early, ordered our food, and an hour and a half later we got it! I ordered a steak. It cost €30. I ordered it medium, and it got like coal! The waiters were nice, and the overall experience was fine, but the food and the waiting time were horrible. הישראלים שבינינו בואו המקום הזה יקר ולא שווה את המתנה

I don't like bad reviews, but... they forced me to write one anyway. The three of us wanted to eat pizza, and then a waiter came over who spoke some strange language 😅 (English, Dutch, Italian, a mix of everything) 😅. He brought the pizza (the dough was raw and undercooked) 🫩. We asked if it was possible to put it back in the oven for another 5 minutes. Refusal. We were told that it would ruin the pizza. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Okay. We had just started eating when a staff member came over to us and asked if we wanted to sit at another table, if that wasn't a problem 😅... in short, they ruined my evening. Discussions 1 out of 10, food 2 out of 10, I will never visit this again (restaurant?)

I have returned here several times hoping that it would have improved, but unfortunately, the experience remains severely substandard. Despite the chances I have given this establishment, it is now final for me: I absolutely cannot recommend this place.

My girlfriend ordered here via Uber and accidentally entered an incorrect and distant address. After we realized this, we called, and the pizza seemed to have already been delivered to the hospital. It wasn't necessary, but the men on the phone were incredibly helpful and even delivered to my address, which is quite far outside their delivery area. On top of that, the pizza was delivered hot and was delicious. Much appreciated, thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience, guys.

Nice Italian restaurant in Amstelveen. The service was super friendly and the food flavorful.

This was our last restaurant in the Netherlands. We chose it on a whim and we were PLEASED. We did make reservations and took an uber, but if you are staying nearby then the walk is a nice one. We arrived just before 6 - but it got busy FAST! It appears they offer delivery for the pizza, which looked good and read well. They brought bread to the table and poured some oil and balsamic. I really enjoyed watching them pour pasta into a massive parmesan wheel and twirl it around the cheese before serving. It tasted like authentic Italian, and our waiter spoke mostly Italian and some English. They do have wifi, but you have to ask. The washrooms are not obvious, and I did not use one to tell you but the restaurant itself is VERY clean. The menu makes everything sound so good! We shared a Bruschetta and a Mussels with clams (they were so good I forgot to take pictures). VERY GOOD. I enjoyed the lasagna al forno, and my husband had a very good carbonera. We loved the tartufo nero and the tiramisu for dessert.

I used to order here often, but the last two times I had to wait an hour and a half for 3 lukewarm, pale pizzas, and I couldn't get an apology either, so this was the last time 🙌

We celebrated my brother's 32nd birthday here. There were 9 of us and we had a fantastic meal! From pizza to pasta, everything was delicious. The truffle pizza is highly recommended. We received good service and there is a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful people welcomed us warmly, the creamy truffle ravioli was excellent, as was the second course: sea bream with cherry tomatoes... Not to mention the focaccia, delicious. One word that unites everything.... WOW!! POETRY FOR THE PALATE. A place absolutely worth trying both for the excellent food served and the very efficient staff but above all.. You're surrounded by a stratospheric environment.

A good friend was celebrating her 81st birthday with family and friends. This restaurant had been recommended by old acquaintances of my friend, who were acquaintances from Vila Borghese. Unfortunately, that dinner was a fiasco. This is the first time I've complained about the poor, unfriendly service by two men. And the other guests were also very dissatisfied. A carpacia was a tiny, thin slice of cornet beef. The pizza was made of cardboard, and I had to use a magnifying glass to find the mushrooms. The other dishes were also tiny pieces of meat or chicken. We waited over an hour for that. It's a shame my friend's dinner was so subpar. She absolutely hated it.

Located at Laan Nieuwer-Amstel 25, 1182 JR Amstelveen, The Netherlands, Villa Borghese Amstelveen is a popular Italian restaurant known for its delicious Italian dishes, seafood, Mediterranean cuisine, and pizzas. It's a nice restaurant with good location plus free onsite parking. The interior is nicely and cozy decorated, bringing relaxed atmosphere to diners. Menu with plenty of choices. Foods are just fine. Waiting time after order is about 15-30 minutes, depends on dishes. Prices are average with its quality. It wasn't much crowded when we had dinner here on 3rd December 2025, and because we came from about 15 differents countries, so staffs were nice enough to carefully introduce to us about wines and dishes, as well as had time for a little chat during the dine. At Villa Borghese, diners can find some of the best pizzas in the Netherlands, as in 2016 the restaurant was honored with the prestigious "Campionata Olandse della Pizza" award at the 2016 Dutch Pizza Championship (a component of the larger 2016 World Pizza Championship - Campionato della Pizza di Parma, where competitors from 35 nations participated).

I had low expectations for proper italian food but what I experienced was, surpringly, even worse. The ingredients were not fresh and of very low quality, compared to the price of the dishes. The sauces were not cooked properly, there were uncooked ingredients in there. The atmosphere I really liked, very nice dining area, nicely lit, rustic, comfortable chairs and table. The service was also good, very friendly and eager to help. But again, the food left (literally and metaphorically) a very bad taste in my mouth after leaving. For the quality of the dishes, I would expect half the prices; it felt like cheap supermarket ingredients thrown together and warmed up.

Tasty, but white wine for 10.50 is a bit crazy!

Unfortunately, tonight, January 25th, I had a bad experience at this restaurant. It wasn't busy, but the service was so poor and slow that I have no intention of returning. Everything took far too long. For example, the bread we were supposed to receive with our drinks arrived almost simultaneously with our dinner (without herb butter or anything like that). The main course was okay. Then they asked if we wanted dessert. After 10 minutes, the menus arrived, and another fifteen minutes later, they finally asked what we wanted to order. Well, my enjoyment was already gone, and I don't even need a cup of coffee anymore. Too bad, it used to be great here, but today the boss seemed absent, and the staff took over. Oh yeah, staff drinking drinks next to the cash register is really unacceptable. I really missed the dining experience.

This is a fantastic place! Super good food, great staff, and the delivery driver was really friendly and fast. The price-quality ratio is also excellent.

We had a reasonably good dinner at this Italian restaurant. The food is generously sized and served fairly quickly. The taste isn't particularly special, and the staff does take note of food requests but doesn't fulfill them. Another drawback is that half the staff doesn't seem to speak Dutch. The prices are quite high, though, and this, combined with the other things, means we won't be returning anytime soon.

Food is really nice and reasonably priced, unfortunately the wait for the main courses was rediculously long which took more than an hour. Sure it was busy but this was the 3rd time we were here and always a long wait, luckily we had enough to talk about in the mean time. The servers though are very knowledgeable and friendly.

I was here for a business dinner on a Tuesday evening. Very, very busy. Great, cosy atmosphere. Top service, despite the large number of guests. Delicious food. The only slight negative impression: it was quite noisy. Either my hearing is getting worse or it was because we were sitting at a table in the middle of the restaurant. Had a bad experience on Saturday. Ordered soup with bacon bits in it. No bacon. Asked for the staff, and they told me it did have bacon bits. It was very rude to contradict a customer. In the kitchen, it turned out the soup did have bacon bits, but only at the bottom, and it hadn't been ladled very deeply. The veal in the main course was tough and overcooked. There were eight baby beans and two potatoes on the side. Soup was €10.50, main course €30. What a disappointment! And the place was packed, and there were too few staff. I waited from 6:30 to 8:00 for my food. I will NEVER go there again.

We went here for dinner with a group of 11. It took a very long time to get our food. We had to ask twice. Also, one person's meat was way overcooked. The pizza I had was okay. The tiramisu was quite disappointing. One person said they couldn't drink milk, to which a waiter replied, "Very good." So, no? We won't be back.

We were early, and the pizza arrived quickly and was delicious. We were asked if we wanted dessert, which we did. But the menu never arrived. After a while, I asked another staff member, and he brought it. I wanted a lemon tart with a cappuccino. The coffee arrived quickly, the tart a bit later. The coffee was lukewarm. A shame. And I think €8.25 for a glass of wine and €10.25 for a pastry (which I've had better) is quite expensive. Or is that just me?

There was only one waiter who knew what he was doing! I'd been here four years ago, and the food and service were better then. The salt and pepper shaker on the table was so dirty it was sticky and looked absolutely awful. From the weekly menu, I had salmon with orange sauce, but it was absolutely inedible! Too bad, we won't be back.

The location is bigger than I expected. We were welcomed friendly and the service was fast, they knew their menu and could give advice. The food was a pleasant surprise, very tasty. The starter with clams and mussels was tasty and perfectly cooked. The linguini was well filled with the fruits de mer and delicious. The Madame Jeanette oil was an extra addition that I recommend. A must to eat here, I will definitely go back.

Second time here and again disappointed!! Food is ok quality but the service is despicable ! Both times , the waiter forgot our order and blamed it on the system . Either their systems suck or they have very incompetent staff ! Either way , happened twice .. won’t be a third time !

This restaurant is too overrated. Myself rate here as below 2. Foods was not fresh and taste nothing. Plating was very street-like. We had 2 antipasti which was same as selling at supermarket, main dish rib-eye and seafood pasta but could not finish it. Furthermore the services was also not satisfying us.

I had a fantastic dining experience at this Italian restaurant. The pasta with seafood was absolutely amazing – perfectly cooked with fresh ingredients and rich flavors. The vegetarian pizza was also delicious, with a crispy crust and a great balance of toppings. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Italian cuisine!

Nice restaurant with a beautiful garden where you can sit. The waiters were friendly, the restaurant neat and clean. Unfortunately the carbonara was not tasty and contained too much sauce/cream. Hopefully this was a one-off. My colleague had the filled ravioli and it was delicious.

Fine. 1 'complaint': the acoustics are very poor, making it really noisy. Easy to solve with the usual means: thick curtains, acoustic panels, etc. Just do it and it will be great and we will come more often

What a disappointment today. They forgot part of my order upon delivery. I had to call to get the rest. Had several people on the phone. Ordered a 3 course menu. Carpaccio, pasta tiramisu. Thought I would get good food but it was nothing. Carpaccio was more like a container with arugula and lots of cheese. And a few very thin slices of meat. Really had to search under all that lettuce and cheese. Pasta was also loads of sauce. Pasta filling had no taste of ricotta with spinach. Tiramisu is just a bowl of whipped cream and lots of cocoa. You don't taste amaretto or mascarpone. Paid so much money for nothing. Too bad because the food wasn't that bad before. No more Villa Borghese for me.
