Highly recommended! Excellent food, fast and friendly service, and fair prices. The view from the top of the Markthal is truly beautiful. A highlight of our visit to Rotterdam.

Lekkerbek is tasty and for really good price. 4 oysters for 10 euro is a great deal too! They give great option to sit and have the food upstairs.

Visiting the Markthal during your Rotterdam trip and looking for a place that serves great seafood? I highly recommend that you try Vishandel Andalus Fish! Let’s talk about the food. As an avid fish enjoyer, their fresh raw herrings is something to die for! One serving is simply not enough, and I would suggest that you order two! Their Kibbeling and Calamari are also seafood that I would recommend you try out as well! If you want a little bit of everything, you can order their Mix for two. Food items do feel quite pricey, for tourists who visits from a country of a weaker currency. Staff members were quite friendly, and will not hesitate to ask if you may require their assistance. Slightly unhelpful that they say everything is good, instead of sharing their personal favorites. After ordering and paying, they will point you to the stairs that lead you up the rooftop of the stall. The rooftop view is unique, to this stall and all others within the Markthal. The height to the ceiling is enormous and spacious, decorated with a beautiful art mural of fruits and Christmas decorations. Because it’s also turning winter, the place was rather cold as it was near the entrance, where people are coming in and out, leaving the automated doors open most of the time. All in all, will definitely come back again to visit with friends the next time I return to the Netherlands and Rotterdam.

Those who love mackerel sashimi will be in heaven. The herring is delicious. If you're sensitive to fishy flavors, try the haling sandwich first. If you enjoy it, try the raw haling right away. The view from the second floor is also beautiful.

Let me clarify the rating; I don't think it deserves such a low 3.7 stars. I ordered a bowl of soup and their specialty (a raw fish). The fish soup was fantastic. They were incredibly generous with the ingredients and it tasted delicious. The bread that came with the soup was also to my liking—not too hard, and it was great on its own. As for the fish, some people say it smells bad, but I personally didn't think so. Especially with the onions, it was really satisfying. Sitting upstairs for dine-in offers a great view of the arched market—highly recommended!

I tried the 500g fried fish with sauce. After ordering, service was prompt. They give you a small disk. It vibrates and lights up when your order is ready. You pick up the food from the buffet. The waiter upstairs was attentive and polite. The fish was as it should be, but the sauces were insufficient for the fish.

If you are in Rotterdam, and you are craving excellent fish/fish soups, you must try Andalus - it is located in the food hall. Plenty of seating upstairs. One of the tastiest fish soups! All fish sandwiches are made on the spot fresh! To top it off, the staff are so friendly - could not ask for a better place for lunch!

I ate a lot of French fries and wasn't very hungry, so I was looking for a quick bite to eat when I found this place. The owner is friendly, and after ordering, you get a buzzer, and you can go up the stairs right next to the restaurant and sit down to eat! - Kiebeling (a typical Dutch street food, fried whitefish) €7.50

October 14, 2025. Dinner here. One of the online food recommendations. I ordered a fish burger for €5.50 (about NT$196). The burger was huge; one was enough to fill me up. My daughter ordered an oyster for €2.75 and raw herring for €3 (about NT$205). "Andalus Fish" usually refers to a fried fish and seafood snack shop located in the Markthal New Market in Rotterdam, Netherlands. I ordered a mixed fish platter here for 22 euros. Half the plate was salad and fries. I literally got three small sardines, two pieces of cod, a few pieces of calamari, a small piece of salmon, and whitefish. I've had fish everywhere in Rotterdam, but this is the most expensive and the least expensive for your money. For this price, you can get considerably more elsewhere. It's a shame it's like this; I mentioned it.

Nice place and very delicious food with various types of seafood.

The fish was really good - I recommend it for it's taste. The workers are not really good.. Got scammed. Not for much money (about 30 cents - we ordered sauce, but didn't get it, and worker pretended to be dumb, lol), but it still left a bad impression. Also people near us got the wrong order too, the one that costs less money. Overall - be careful not to be scammed, but if you're willing to risk - you'll enjoy the taste😂

It took too long to get my sandwich, and I don't understand why. While they were serving me, they weren't serving anyone else. The staff didn't know who their order was at the end! 🥴

Our order took an extremely long time to be prepared. We had ordered the kibbeling and plaice, but the fish didn’t taste good at all—probably because the oils were old. The portions were large and filling, though. On the bright side, the staff were friendly and welcoming.

An absolute recommendation... a platter for two... incredibly delicious, well-seasoned, and very plentiful. The advice at the stand was exemplary. TOP! The 20-minute wait for the food was absolutely fine... I can't understand the negative reviews regarding the friendliness and quality of the food... and I've already been around quite a bit 😃😎

If you want to order multiple items, remember to take a photo before they sent them to cook. Very likely I didn’t get what I ordered and paid. No way salmon after cooking change to a white color and shrimp become so tiny. They also missed two items of my orders. And after I pointed that out, it took three staff to finally get those two items served. It doesn’t make any sense as the food was charged based on weight, means what happened seems like a proof of they didn’t send the weighted ones to the kitchen.

I had a really frustrating experience at [Restaurant/Fish Market Name]. After ordering, the staff gave me a vibrating token and told me to go upstairs to wait—but going upstairs just to sit for a few minutes felt pointless. When I said I’d rather wait downstairs, the staff acted puzzled, like I was doing something wrong. To make it worse, an older lady nearby kept staring and laughing at me the whole time—super uncomfortable. The staff didn’t bother explaining the system clearly; it all felt awkward and unfriendly. Honestly, the whole process was unnecessarily complicated, and the staff’s attitude made it worse.

The fish meat is very fresh, with many varieties to choose from.

The salesperson is racist. Even though I was in line, when it was my turn after the person in front of me had finished serving the customer, they ignored me as if they didn't even see me, walked away and started serving another customer who was standing far away.A local person helped me and I was able to order, but they started serving the food of a customer who had ordered after me first. After waiting for a while, another waiter came over to check with me and told me that I had already ordered, and finally started making my order. I understand that we have different values and ways of thinking, but if you come to my country, I will not welcome you. And I would like to say thank you very much once again to the man who helped me then. I will never forget this. I hope you have a happy life.

Nos topamos con esto y para ser honestos nos preguntamos acerca de elegir algo tan simple como el pescado frito, ya que hay muchas otras opciones más elegantes disponibles en este lugar. Sin embargo IT fue definitivamente la elección correcta. El propietario era servicial y pedimos en el mostrador y fuimos a sentarnos arriba. La comida fue rápidamente traído a nosotros y el comedor estaba limpio y tenía un buen ambiente. Lo mejor fue el tamaño de la porción y el sabor del pescado. No grasienta, fresca y algunas salsas agradables. La ensalada también estaba sabrosa. Teníamos una porción de pescado con ensalada y patatas fritas. Me alegro de que decidimos compartir, ya que no podríamos haber gestionado más. Trabajó a £ 16 que creo que era muy buena relación calidad-precio tbh.

Ordered here through Thuisbezorgd. Waited over an hour. I'll give them a call. They simply tell me to call Thuisbezorgd and see if they can send a delivery person. That's not how it works.

The staple fast food of the Netherlands is broodje haring. You absolutely must try it.

The food is quite good and reasonably priced. Wide range of options of cooked and uncooked fish and other seafood. Seating is available upstairs.

We had delicious kibbeling. The dish was excellent, and the men behind the counter were very pleasant and friendly. I even got some extra sauce after joking that I'd get into trouble if I came home without it. Excellent food. Not cheap, but you're in the market hall, so what do you expect? I recommend it.

Fresh fish dishes served quickly with generous portions. Myself and a few mates stopped by here whilst visiting Rotterdam on our Interrail trip and were very impressed. Fresh Herring with some lovely light pickles was the perfect starter followed by a fish lasagna that tasted like it was almost still in the sea with a gorgeous parsley sauce, delicious and an awesome breakfast to start the day. Will definitely be back next time I'm here.

SCAM!!! This shop is a scam. We asked the staff if the dish is shrimp, and they said yes. However, it’s not real shrimp — it just looks like shrimp. It is fish ball made with flour. Do not buy from this shop. The rice tastes terrible and is mushy.

Great fish place within the markthal. You can sit at the rooftop terrace and enjoy your lunch/dinner.

Don't go there at 5:15 PM and think you can eat in peace. We were 5 people. No one told us in advance that we had to leave at 6:00 PM because the market hall was closing. We then got our food around 5:30 PM, after 15 minutes the waiter was rushing us to leave. Very unfortunate, you could have also informed us when ordering that this is not possible. I paid a lot but didn't enjoy it! I still think 1 star is too much.

Loved the fish, freshly fried and super tasty and crispy. There are seats above the stand which was nice surprise so we could sit and eat in peace.

The food wasn't fresh at all. My friend ordered a shrimp dish, but what we got didn't even resemble real shrimp—it was that bad. The sardines I got were raw inside, which is unacceptable The fries tasted like they were straight out of a supermarket freezer. Prices were way too high for such poor quality. Avoid this place if you value good seafood!

Los puestos en el Markthal van y vienen. Pero Andalus Fish tiene su lugar en el Markthal desde mi primera visita hace años, así que deben hacer algo bien. Decidimos que ahora era el momento de probar Andalus Fish y ver si habían superado a muchas empresas ofreciendo calidad. Pedir y pagar es abajo en el mostrador, la zona de sentarse - abajo está arriba. Esta zona es bastante cómoda. La comida se transporta en ascensor hasta el mostrador de arriba, presidido por una agradable dama. ¿Qué puedo decir sobre el pescado con papas fritas que pedí? El plato fue elaborado con ingredientes frescos y deliciosos. Vajilla y cubiertos de verdad, de ninguna manera plástico aquí. Resumiendo: Andalus Fish ofreció una experiencia sorprendentemente buena y llegaron para quedarse. No hay trampa para turistas.

When you come to Markthal, of course you can’t miss the famous Dutch traditional snack "raw herring"~ There are two ways to eat raw herring. The most authentic way is to eat it raw, and the best way to try it for the first time is to sandwich it with bread and onions. We chose the latter without thinking about it. We were originally worried about the special taste, but we didn't expect it. It's quite delicious, not fishy at all, and I'm still a bit unsatisfied after eating it! In addition to raw herring, the seafood stall also has a lot of seafood combinations. We ordered the fried shrimp paste platter, which was really delicious. It tasted like sweet but not spicy, but it was full of the aroma of fresh shrimps. It was a little bit delicious. The prepared mayonnaise will make you feel more comfortable the more you eat it, it will become addictive! The indoor area is just above the stall. It is very comfortable to enjoy the atmosphere and scenery while having lunch!

Bel posto per un pranzo veloce all'interno del bellissimo mercato coperto di Rotterdam. Ottimi i panini con la tradizionale aringa olandese (sia cruda che fritta) che si possono consumare comodamente seduti su un terrazzo al piano superiore. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.

I found the kibbeling to be quite mushy and not crispy

I'm no expert in this fare and fried fish is fried fish, but it was hot and fresh the two times I ate there. The pickled herring sandwich was good too. Make your order clear and confirm it when it's crowded. It's not exactly a date spot, but has a nice view of the Markthal interior from the rooftop seating. Great service up there too. Make sure to tell them you're eating upstairs when you order and they'll give you a pager and have your food sent up.

Kibelling and a good fish soup in a spectacular building

Today we ate on the roof terrace at 'Andalus Fish'. I had a delicious dish with freshly baked mussels, fries and raw vegetables. It was a very generous portion and the quality of the food was top notch. The staff was friendly.

I had severe food poisoning and I was hospitalized after eating a herring there. Please don’t eat at this place unless you are willing to take such a big risk🤮🤮🤮

It is located at the end of the covered market. You order and then you can consume on the upper terrace. What you order is collected on the terrace (you are notified to collect what you ordered via a buzzer). The food is mainly fish and is of good quality. We ordered 4 sandwiches with fried calamari and spent €26. The rolls were soft and fresh. The staff is friendly and ready to meet the customer's needs.

First time seafood poisoning in years ☠️☠️😭

We were 3 friends and 1 of my friends ordered food here and we decided to sit with her since she was dining in (there are very limited places in this foodhall to sit together). I felt weird stare from the man working here when we were walking upstairs to sit, and ask is that okay we sit together (out of respect) while she is eating her food and he said guys it’s not really nice of you, 1 person orders food and 4-5 of you go sit and take space bla bla. I found this really rude honestly, since the place was 20-30% full, seats were empty. Even if that would not be the case, if person decided to dine in, she will occupy a table anyway and no stranger will come and sit with her. Soo didn’t really get the point why it was important to ruin our mood like that. Food was 3.5 but for the experience 2. Be nicer :)

Andalus mix is a gross chemical fish paste

When we arrived, there were two lines, and only two registers were open. The cashier took the orders of the two groups in front of us, but then completely ignored the elderly man who had been waiting for a long time. He eventually left without placing his order. We waited as well, but the staff continued to ignore us without any explanation. As of now, you’ve lost five customers. We decided to try the another one next door, and it was great. If these employees stay, you’ll continue to lose more customers.

Very bad fish you pay 15 euros for 2 fish mix sandwiches you only get peppers instead a lot of fish this is not normal how you do this because there are tourists there you can play with it but we Dutch are not stupid and know how and what about fish with plenty

they served customers who arrived after me even though i had been standing there for a while. i was ignored and felt discriminated against, similar to the experience of several other asian commenters. you will be served first if you're white. lesser luck if you look asian. the fish soup was served cold, and when i asked if it could be warmed the lady said it couldnt be, and cold soup with a fishy taste isnt great. the pepper was overwhelming in the soup as well, i wouldnt come back for the soup. there was a nice view of the ceiling in the market hall from the second floor, but the same could be viewed at other shops. you would do yourself a favour by going to another shop.

The fish was not fresh and had a strange smell

Me encanta este lugar cuando se trata de mariscos frescos! Tiendo a venir aquí cada dos meses. Hay una gran selección de pescado crudo cocinado justo como usted quiere. Normalmente obtenemos varios platos de pescado crudo y mariscos a la parrilla. Lo mejor es comerlo arriba en el comedor para que todo siga fresco y caliente fuera de la parrilla. Pagas primero y luego esperas hasta que suene el timbre que te dan. Por lo general, está lleno de gente, especialmente los fines de semana, porque es popular entre los lugareños, por lo que puede tomar entre 10 y 15 minutos para obtener su comida porque se cocina a la orden y no sentado debajo de alguna lámpara de calor como en algunos otros lugares. El propietario es muy agradable y se acomodará a casi cualquier solicitud.

Tried herring sandwich. This is my first time so I can’t compare! But personally I did not find it attractive. Anyways, they sell many other seafood products. Staff are so friendly and service is fast. Prices are reasonable. They have few seats in front of their shop. Might try something else next time.

We tried calamari, it was delicious. There are fish products sold by the kilo, you can order accordingly, then there are seating areas upstairs. If you do not want to choose it yourself, you can buy it from ready-made menus.

Ordered for 2 people. Received 2 shrimps and 4 pieces of calamari and the rest was all old fish. Fries broke through at least twice if it wasn't more. Not a second time for me, stomach ache afterwards was also present

I ate here around 4:30 PM, it was quite busy. I still received my order quite quickly. The staff is very nice and helpful. This helped them make a good choice because I am not really a fish fan myself. I am very happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone. The food was fair, the roof terrace had a good atmosphere, good prices and the staff were nice and helpful. I would definitely eat here again! By the way, I definitely recommend the kibbeling dish, delicious crispy kibbeling.

RACIST, HORRIBLE SERVICE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!! 10h30AM, 10 mai 2024, we arrived with our luggage. We stand in front of the stand and wait for the service. They served everyone eles before us, even that we arrived before. Then when we take our command, another client arrived. The sale man didn't even listen to me for the rest of my order but turn directly to the new arrived client. When I told him that im still ordering, they just told me they are busy with another client and we have to wait??!?. They just simply don't want to serve us or thinking that we don't have money or maybe we don't eat that in our food culture.

While passing through the Makthal market, we took a break to taste their original sandwiches...squid, herring which are very good. We discovered these specialties and have no regrets. We loved the terrace above the restaurant, we had never seen that before.
