Vorige week donderdag hebben mijn collega's en ik kibbeling besteld om mee te nemen naar het werk. Bij het openen van de porties zagen we tot onze verbijstering dat het frituurvet er letterlijk vanaf droop. Wij eten regelmatig kibbeling, maar zó slecht hebben we het nog nooit gehad. Dit was simpelweg oneetbaar. Ik heb direct contact opgenomen met Vishandel Schuitemaker in Sassenheim, waar mij excuses werden aangeboden en werd beloofd dat het de volgende keer goedgemaakt zou worden. Er werd zelfs een notitie van gemaakt. Prima, dacht ik toen. Vandaag (12-03-2025) ben ik opnieuw naar de winkel gegaan om weer kibbeling te halen, zowel voor mezelf als mijn collega's. Toen ik de situatie van vorige week aankaartte, kreeg ik een ronduit belachelijk antwoord. De jongen in de winkel beweerde dat hij ervan op de hoogte was, maar volgens hem lag het probleem niet aan het frituurvet – nee, het zou de ‘sappen van de vis’ zijn. Alsof dat geloofwaardig is! Bovendien gaf hij aan dat hij de kibbeling zelf had gebakken en dat het onmogelijk was dat deze zo vet kon zijn. Wat een arrogante houding! Hij weigerde enige compensatie en het enige wat ik kon doen, was ‘de volgende keer om een andere vis vragen’. Dit is werkelijk absurd. Blijkbaar zijn ze hier totaal niet geïnteresseerd in klanttevredenheid en nemen ze geen enkele verantwoordelijkheid voor de belabberde kwaliteit van hun product. Schandalig is nog zacht uitgedrukt. Dit is pure minachting voor de klant. Niet alleen was de kwaliteit van de kibbeling abominabel, maar ook de manier waarop met klachten wordt omgegaan is ronduit respectloos. Ik kom hier nooit meer en zal iedereen afraden om hier ook maar iets te kopen.

Last Thursday my colleagues and I ordered Kibbeling to take to work. When we opened the portions, we were astonished to see that the frying fat was literally dripping off. We regularly eat kibbeling, but we have never had it this bad. This was simply inedible. I immediately contacted Vishandel Schuitemaker in Sassenheim, where I was apologized and promised that things would be made right next time. A note was even made of it. Fine, I thought then. Today (12-03-2025) I went to the store again to get some more groceries, both for myself and my colleagues. When I raised the situation last week, I received a downright ridiculous response. The guy in the shop claimed he was aware of it, but he said the problem wasn't the frying fat - no, it could be the 'fish juices'. As if that's believable! Moreover, he indicated that he had fried the kibbeling himself and that it was impossible that it could be so greasy. What an arrogant attitude! He refused any compensation and all I could do was 'ask for a different fish next time'. This is really absurd. Apparently they are not interested in customer satisfaction at all and do not take any responsibility for the poor quality of their product. Scandalous is putting it mildly. This is pure contempt for the customer. Not only was the quality of the bickering abysmal, but the way complaints were handled was downright disrespectful. I'll never come here again.

Eten was lekker maar servive was waar ik mij aan ergerde. Voor mijn schoonvader van 93 (!) vroeg gen wij of de sliptongen gefileerd konden worden door de kok. Zijn handen trillen teveel om dit te kunnen doen. Dit kon niet maar het filleren was erg makkelijk. Als het restaurant tot de nok gevuld is begrijp ik dat dit niet kan in de drukte. Zelfs op een rustige doordeweekse avond, deze geste niet kunnen doen, vind ik erg jammer maar maakt wel het verschil in gastvrijheid.

Heerlijk gegeten. Paradijs voor visliefhebbers middenin Sassenheim. Geweldige keuken en vriendelijke en efficiënte bediening. Echte aanrader.

De kaart en de openingstijden zijn verruimd. Inrichting is verbeterd nu er geen doorgang meer is naar winkel. Maar de prijs kwaliteit is helemaal uit balans. Kleine porties, hoge prijzen. Kwaliteit minder dan het was. Personeel doet zijn best maar heeft t niet in de vingers. Jammer

Wij hebben hier Sushi besteld en op dinsdagmiddag 24 december opgehaald, het was een schoteltje van euro 50,00. Het is werkelijk schandalig dat de sushi eigenlijk niet te eten was op eerste kerstdag, een dag later. Het was absoluut slecht van kwaliteit, te droge rijst en uigedroogd. Adviseer hier geen sushi te kopen, hier begrijpen ze echt niets van.

We went there for dinner today and it was very good!!!! We each had a mussel pot (1 kg) with white wine/vegetable stock. There was also a bowl of fries and salad as well as 3 dips and a chip sauce. The dish is not on the menu but you can get it if you ask. Price/performance is very good. The service was also very friendly.

We visited this restaurant on Saturday after a tip from friends. We enjoyed the sole. The staff was very friendly upon arrival and the help was excellent. The chef has a lot of love for his profession, which you can see and taste in the dish. REALLY RECOMMENDED.

Het was een restaurant waar we vaak en graag kwamen. Maar na vertrek van al het personeel en verandering kaart zal ik er niet meer komen. Duurder en slechter eten is een combinatie waardoor veel trouwe klanten uit bollenstreek weg zullen blijven. Tip: verander kaart weer terug....

We were on vacation in Kaag, we rode our bikes through Sassenheim every now and then... Our landlady recommended the fish shop to us... Simply delicious, we really liked the remoulade - the price was also okay. We ate outside in front of the shop, there are benches with a large table there. The staff was very young but also very, very nice and accommodating, just great...

Not happy at all, unfortunately. I don't welcome the renovation. I liked much more the previous chef and waiters, I came here for the famous schuitenmaker salade, but that is not served anymore, and the prices went up a lot. It is a pity, we loved this place :-(

Forget the old schuitenmaker restaurant. The chef is not the same as before , the crew is completely different and the prices are 6/7 euro more and you get less. It is a shame. Prices like the hague for sassenheim

Enjoyed a wonderful 12 hours of bickering. Friendly and helpful staff. I can highly recommend a visit to Schuitemaker fish shop to everyone. Try it, and I promise you, you'll be hooked. Top dining option.

Je moest reserveren op vrijdag en zaterdag. Soms zelfs een week van te voren! Was dan ook zeer verbaasd dat ik op deze zaterdag een tafeltje kon uitkiezen. Meubilair vernieuwd, keuken aangepast, prijzen verhoogd. Eten is goed, maar de swing van Gerard en Cees is weg!! De gemoedelijke ontspannen sfeer van Fish en Chips is weg. Ineens een restaurant wat het niet heeft. Jammer, de oude Schuitemaker, had het anders bedacht en dat was prima.

Unfortunately: after the renovation a different menu and different staff. Gerard from the kitchen was very good at the refined flavors! No more real or fresh flowers. No more salad automatically with the catch-of-the-day. In short: more expensive but not better. Very unfortunate, it was always 5 stars. Still tasty but no longer noticeable and excellent!

De charme is weg. Het was ooit een pareltje, waar je bij de gerechten standaard vooraf een heerlijke salade met verschillende soorten vis kreeg. De aandacht van de bediening is er niet genoeg.Kwaliteit is achteruit gegaan. Zit geen liefde meer in de beleving. Erg jammer. Het eten was niet heel slecht, maar prijs kwaliteit verhouding is zoek. Recently had dinner in the Sassenheim restaurant of Viswinkel Schuitemaker. What a shame is that the website does not show a menu. You have to look for it yourself, but we were tipped off that the map is on the site of Schuitemaker's mother from Katwijk. Later, when you receive the card at the store itself, it turns out to be slightly different from the web version. What was striking on the site is that in the News category there is mention of the daily catch of February 3, 2023 (it is now May 2024). It was very quiet in the neat store, recently renovated. In the 2 hours we were there, there were never more than 3 tables occupied at the same time. Not much for a weekend evening, I think. The quality of the food was excellent, although I personally expected a little more from a fish specialist. I found the creamy fish soup watery and the fish mainly consisted of a handful of crayfish (not actually fish). The Royaal fish salad is indeed substantial. It is a full plate with fish (salmon, tuna, eel, mackerel), crayfish, salad, vegetables and bread. I usually get eel along the ring canal, which is tastier because eel is certainly available in many qualities. The sushi starter was also poor. Eight makis and two nigiris (salmon and tuna). Unfortunately I couldn't take a good photo of it either. There is a charge of E12.50. The portion of kibbeling was definitely good. Very generous. What I found strange was that the chef in the kitchen had to ask which fish was included in the kibbeling. Fortunately it turned out to be cod and it was also fine. The service was friendly, the food was tasty, but the atmosphere was a bit serene due to the few visitors and did not resemble the situation of the past (always packed). I'll sit somewhere else next time.

Na het vertrek van de kok Gerard en Maxime is de zaak uiterlijk opgelapt . Maar wij zijn afgeknapt ! De heerlijke salade vooraf is afgeschaft , de prijzen verhoogd .Een glaasje huiswijn kost €6,50 en vis van de dag €26 . Kibbeling €18 . Verder was het eten niet op smaak en de kibbeling van een weke vissoort . Bah . Bediening niet vriendelijk . En kok stond zich te vervelen omdat het zo stil was . ( geen wonder ) . Jammer hoor !

Shame… We are regular visitors to this small-scale restaurant that is connected to the business where fresh fish and fish products are sold. I wrote another review about this on July 5, 2020. The business has recently reopened after renovations. We ate here again but were still a bit disappointed. Although the business looks nice, a lot has changed in terms of business operations. As standard, a bowl with some types of fish and salad was always served outside the menu. This as an appetizer. Unfortunately, this was no longer the case. I always order catch of the day. This was good in itself, but not very tasty. My partner was bickering. This was a bit soft and with little taste. In addition, the fries were excellent. The prices have also been hiked up quite a bit. For example, a glass of Sauvignon Blanc charges E6.50. Conclusion: it is no longer our restaurant. As far as we are concerned, the friendly atmosphere before the renovation has disappeared. Another factor is that the excellent chef Gerard no longer works there and was recently taken over by Maxime, who was doing very well. But it turns out that he no longer works here either. We zijn een geregelde bezoeker van dit kleinschalige restaurant dat verbonden is met de zaak waar verse vis en visprodukten worden verkocht. Op 5 juli 2020 heb ik daarover nog een beoordeling geschreven. Sinds kort is na een verbouwing de zaak weer geopend. We hebben hier weer eens gegeten maar zijn toch een beetje teleurgesteld. De zaak ziet er weliswaar fraai uit maar er is wat de bedrijfsvoering betreft wel het nodige veranderd. Standaard werd altijd buiten de kaart om een schaal met wat vissoorten en salade geserveerd. Dit als een voorgerechtje. Helaas was dit niet meer het geval. Ik bestel altijd vangst van de dag. Deze was op zich goed, maar niet erg op smaak. Mijn partner had kibbeling. Deze was wat week en met weinig smaak. Daarnaast waren de frietjes uitstekend. De prijzen zijn ook behoorlijk opgeschroefd. Voor een glas Sauvignon Blanc wordt bijvoorbeeld E6,50 gerekend. Conclusie: het is ons restaurant niet meer. De gemoedelijk sfeer van vóór de verbouwing is wat ons betreft verdwenen. Ook speelt mee dat de uitstekende kok Gerard daar niet meer werkt en laatst was overgenomen door Maxime die het heel goed deed.Maar deze blijkt hier ook niet meer werkzaam te zijn. Wat ook opviel was dat de bezetting matig was. Voorheen zat de zaak altijd vol…

Okay, all the lads working are so polite, it is such a pleasure to visit this fishmonger! Selection is great, loved everything we got from them so far. In my opinion the staff working here should do a master class to other businesses in Sassenheim on how to treat the customers 😉

This Restaurant is "The Catch of the day". Food is mega delicious. All fresh and very tasty. We enjoyed every bite. Really the best fish restaurant i know. The Ambiente is very, very cozy. The waiter was very kind, funny and patient. Everywhere smiles and friendly faces. A highlight of our daytrip!!!!

Niet normaal leuk, zojuist bij Schuitemaker geweest voor wat tongfilets. Namen en mystery tas mee voor €10. Wat een heerlijkheden. De zaterdagavond is begonnen 🤟😀. Dikke aanrader

Net overheerlijk gegeten in het restaurant wat aan de winkel vast zit. Eten was zalig en de bediening heel tof. Eigenlijk jammer dat het restaurant al om 18 uur dicht gaat, maar het is het waard om af en toe wat eerder het werk neer te leggen. Het is namelijk echt wel super lekker

Beste vishandel uit de bollenstreek. Heerlijke haring en altijd vers van het mes! De kibbeling en lekkerbekken worden altijd vers gebakken en de saus erbij is heerlijk. Niet goedkoop maar wel kwaliteit en vers!

O.a. ook de mosselen (nu buiten seizoen) zijn beter van kwaliteit dan alle andere adressen waar ik het weleens heb gekocht.

Mooie winkel met een zeer uitgebreid assortiment verse vis en gerelateerde producten.

Wij hebben de lunch hapjes gekozen voor een feestje en hebben daarvan genoten, het was geweldig lekker! Met veel complimenten van onze gasten, super goed!
