Old food and they don't have regular milk

Was visiting The Hague and looking for fresh bakery products. Pretty shop, great atmosphere, beautifully located in wonderful neighborhood, selection of bread/viennoiseries limited though and tad overpriced. Two baguettes and 8 croissants for €24. Would return as all bread seemed to be made in artisan manner.

Some baked goods sold out very early, and our table wasn't cleaned despite being dirty. The food was 5/5! Nice location and easy to find. Overall, definitely worth a visit!

I've been to one of your locations before today. I wanted to buy a gift card, but they basically refused. They said I could just write something on a plain card, but that it wouldn't really look like a gift. I then asked, "What should I do?"—and they said I could try another location. They said they would have them. I then went to another location specifically, but the employee there had no idea how it worked. He looked at me in surprise and said he'd never heard of them selling gift cards. I explained that it's quite common, and that they'd told me at the other location that it just wasn't possible because they ran out of nice cards. Yet, this employee couldn't help me either. I asked if she could call her manager, but she said he wasn't available today because he wasn't working. I ended up leaving very disappointed, because I really wanted to give a gift card to this bakery. Unfortunately, neither of the two locations offered it. Furthermore, I didn't like the contact with the staff — it felt a bit like they would rather I just leave with my problem.

I would even give no star to the service. Profoundly dissatisfied and disappointed by the employee’s attitude this morning. We entered and there was only another table occupied (they were already enjoying their coffee). We waited for 10 min (the 2 employees were chatting between them) and when the boy finally came we ordered a Parisian breakfast. He promptly told us is not possible to do it as it takes too much time (to put together a slice of bread, croissant and 2 different spreads) and that maybe there will come more people and they would not have the ability to serve them all. We decided to go right away and he got his phone and swift his attention to it (probably a better way for him to spend the time, even though he should get paid to attend customers). We decided to come to the same brand on the Fred and got our breakfast fast even though there were more customers and the staff was also reduced to only 2 people.

Waited 15 min to be attended despite there was only another table served and few customers buying to go. When the guy finally arrived he said he could not serve the breakfast because they were two busy. We left and he went back to his phone. Not a good ad for the brand we already know from Fred Hendriklaan, where we went back and get happily served

Short but powerful, it seems like a nice place, but your staff should be part of it. If they don't feel like it and you show that to customers, then I'd rather go somewhere else. If you're alone or 2, they still have time (that's what they suspect), but a few more people and the desire is gone. You can have a croissant, they say (to take away), when you actually want to have a nice breakfast. There were maybe 8 people (inside and outside in total) and there were plenty of staff. I'm not going to take a croissant of around 3.50 euros to eat on the street. I might as well go to the AH. A bit of a shame for what should have been a nice and pleasant morning.

On a Sunday morning, 7 of us wanted to have breakfast at the Vlaamsch Broodhuys. It wasn't busy, there were two tables occupied inside. A young lady indicated that they would help us as soon as possible. After this, however, we were told by an uninterested young man that it was going to be difficult to serve us. Why? We still have no idea. We also wanted to wait a bit longer, because we had plenty of time. But we didn't like the way and tone in which this young man addressed us, after which we decided to eat somewhere else. A shame, because then you lose 7 customers on a quiet Sunday morning who wanted to bring in money. Someone like this young man would be your staff. Disastrous for your business in the long run.

We wanted to go for a delicious breakfast. It smelled delicious but the atmosphere changed very quickly. We could not get in. There were 4 people eating!! What a bad business. Luckily we found another business and spent our money there. Unfortunately I can not give less than 1 star. Because that young man who did not want us gave us the bad feeling of not being welcome. There goes your inclusivity!!

Our visit to the Vlaams Brood Huys on the Bankastraat was disappointing. Although the bread and toppings were tasty, there were too many negative points: - Disinterested service - Dirty glasses - Lukewarm milk Unfortunately, we will not be back.

A Gorgeous local spot to sit and enjoy a bite with coffee and some chat with friends. Location and assortment of offered pastries and breads are amazing.

We went to buy bread and peanut butter. The bottle of the peanut butter is covered with oil. Not one bottle but all bottles like that. The lady (petite) behind the counter insisted that it is water not oil (how hard it is to tell between oil and water?). Then we asked for a paper bag so I can cover the bottle, she said because it is not bread, so need to charge 20 cents for it. 🫠

Together with my daughter we went to lunch today, November 13, at the Vlaamsch Broodhuys in the Bankastraat. Our experience was not good at all. The chocolate milk was very bitter and lukewarm. The Scone had no taste. The avocado feta sandwich was not tasty. The bread looked like it was 5 days old, the avocado was brown and stringy. My daughter's Pastrami sandwich resembled a glorified grilled cheese sandwich with minimal cheese. The staff was downright slow, was constantly on their phone and one even went to lunch while all the tables were still full of dirty crockery. This lunch was €40, but definitely not worth that amount.

Samen met mijn dochter gingen wij vandaag 13 november lunchen bij het Vlaamsch Broodhuys in de Bankastraat. Onze ervaring was helemaal niet goed. De chocolademelk was erg bitter en lauwwarm. De Scone had geen smaak. Het Broodje avocado feta, was niet lekker. Het brood leek wel 5 dagen oud, de avocado was bruin en draderig. Het broodje Pastrami van mijn dochter, leek op een veredelde tosti met minimaal kaas. Het personeel was ronduit langzaam, zat constant op hun telefoon en er ging er zelfs 1 lunchen, terwijl alle tafels nog vol stonden met vies servies. Deze lunch was €40, maar dit bedrag absoluut niet waard.

Sandwiches are very basic, and limited fillings. Over price fir what you get. The team, while nice, didnt make any effort to fix their shortcomings, and was easy in refusing. Wont try again

The opening hours are not entirely correct: I went yesterday at 3:30 PM and it was no longer possible to sit inside.

3 gebakjes gekocht voor 15 euro. Helaas waren ze niet meer vers: waterig en zacht. Hadden beter niet meer verkocht kunnen worden. Voor dit geld verwacht ik vers gebak!!

The food is good and fresh but the service is quite disappointing. We have been there a few times and every time we were disappointed at how rude the staff was to us and the people around us.

A hopeless place where they shamelessly dare to charge €16.45 for a pot of tea and a flat white. And then be surprised that you find that a bit too much. We also refused to pay that amount. Then I could have gone straight to the police station to report the theft. Too bizarre for words. What are those people thinking?

Best bread/pastry in the area. Also nice place for coffee or for lunch.

Excellent service :) the kindness, the delicious coffee and the beauty of the place in general deserve all the stars.

UPDATE: The problem seems to have been resolved. The temperatures are no longer tropical at the Vlaamsch Broodhuys on Bankastraat in The Hague, so an upgrade to 4 stars. 😉 2 out of 2 stars for the service of this extremely friendly young lady; a breath of fresh air. That's in contrast to the abnormal heat! Incredible! How can you leave someone like that behind? 31 degrees! Incredible! Irresponsible! Should I call the Arbo inspection? Really do something about it, management. Unauthorized!

Very often, the best way to explore a foreign city on foot is to simply wander, with no objective in mind other than to observe how locals live their daily lives. So follow the sound of church bells or drift across a leafy square to a local coffee shop and soak up the ambience. This coffee shop is in a beautiful district of the Hauge surrounded by tree-lined boulevards, art-nouveau architecture and elegant stately homes. Coffee here is high octane, the service is friendly and customer oriented and it is a busy spot with locals availing of the opportunity to chill out among their own in a laid back atmosphere. It's said that there is a bread for every mood, mealtime and occasion and judging by the steady stream of customers for the product here the bakery expertly marries the art and science that’s required to create great bread of the sourdough variety. They certainly seem to get things right here and it is surprising that on Bank Street cash is not accepted!

More than 30 euros for a black coffee, hot chocolate, tuna sandwich and a ham and pickle sandwich. I wouldn't mind spending this on this, but then I expect: - big real sandwiches - cutlery or at least a napkin - no napkin UNDER my sandwich so that it is stuck to the cheese - a saucer so that my coffee spoon does not have to lie on the uncleaned table - no sigh when I ask for a napkin - no extensive conversations from the super American-speaking employees about how 'outgoing' and 'blunt' are, but apparently too shy to check how the guests/customers are doing And then they are also looking for staff while the three of them are already serving 5 tables. How to screw up a nice franchise formula......

Are these ladies who work in these bakeries allergic to wearing gloves?? Am fed up of being served by people who think it is ok to Touch their hair/face Touch the cash machine And use the same unwashed hand to pick up my cake with same fingers and worse stab their finger into the cake to grab it! The next time my dear, i will embarrass you by asking you not to serve me or that i do not want the cake and that you wear a glove or use proper tongs to pick up a cake! (ref. @The asian lady) on 4 dec. Am fed up. Now name and shame! I deserve better service in an expensive bakery. @management.. Train better

Als je binnenkomt ziet alles er gezellig en verzorgt uit, daarna gaat alles vrij snel berg afwaarts. Vragen vriendelijk aan de serveerster om een tafel schoon te maken die vol kruimels en koffie vlekken zat, medewerker van de bediening kijkt gelijk geïrriteerd en is kortaf. Daarna probeer je een bestelling te doen bij een andere medewerker van de bediening die doet alsof je een andere taal spreekt. Even later andere klanten die klagen over een baby van nog geen jaar die typische babygeluiden aan het maken is, en dan zegt dat het met de opvoeding te maken heeft, echt een dwaas en personeel wat niet blikt of bloost. Kortom bagger tent zodra je verder bent dan de eerste 3 meter.

After 15 minutes we left. Order was taken. Is table service. Various table with items from other customers. Cutlery cups and plates. Not recommended

They have really good pastries. I've been there once and it was nice. Unfortunately today (Monday 28 August) the staff seemed to have a weird attitude. I felt like an inconvenience stepping in. I asked about their iced coffee, felt like I'm asking questions the lady wasn't feeling like she wants to answer so I ordered a pastry, she proceeded to pack it and I said oh I'll sit here. And whether I should order and pay now or later. I even asked her if she was upset because I was confused and the standoffish attitude. So she said I can pay later I said okay I'll sit outside and look at the menu. I did. The table outside was still dirty from the people before. I felt the staff talking about me before they sent someone out. She said she was new. I ordered a drink and told her that I already ordered a pastry at the cashier. I never got the pastry. When another waiter brought the drink out I asked if it's possible to clean the table. She gave me a fake smile and looked like, again, I was inconvenience them by asking. There were plates and glasses and crumbs on the table I had my laptop on my lap. And she just picked them up and didn't wipe the table. Still didn't get the pastry. So I got up to leave, because i felt unwelcomed. I took the glass back with me, waited at the cashier, was ignored for a good 20 seconds. Finally paid for my drink and left. I felt so uncomfortable by the whole interaction. Still confused as to what the issue was.

I visited last summer with very fond memories. Great atmosphere, super service and delicious pastries. Unfortunately my experience this summer wasn’t as great. Service was terrible. The person behind the counter was very grumpy and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her by being there. Our pastries were still delicious and I would have given 5 stars if I were rating on the food alone.

went here for lunch. they have great and healthy breakfast and lunch options, also vegetarian. mostly centered around sandwiches, salads and bagels. they have fresh juices and smoothies as well. The bread here is fresh and amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. This is not somewhere you go for a quick lunch, it's better suited for when you have a bit more time (45 min to an hour or more) to hang out and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Service is not very fast, but not crazy slow either. The interior felt a bit dark, which is cozy but perhaps not what you choose on a bright sunny summer day.

Mooie locatie waar je lekker brood kan halen, leuk kan borrelen en met goede koffie en taartjes. Het personeel hier is vriendelijk en deskundig. Op aanraden heb ik een vruchtentaartje gegeten met koffie erbij. Omdat de buurt internationaal ingesteld is spreekt het personeel zowel Nederlands als Engels. De inrichting is leuk gedaan en er zijn enkele kleine zitjes met tafeltje aan de straatkant. Ik kom hier graag nog een keer terug

Altijd geweldige service, vooral dat meisje met bruin haar is buitengewoon vriendelijk. Het is altijd een feestje om bij VB mijn cappuccino te halen als de dageraad aanbreekt.

De high tea viel een beetje tegen met thee uit zakjes en te vaak lege theepotten. De scone was heerlijk maar de boterhammen te eenzijdig en zwaar op de maag. Gebak is wel de specialiteit.

De bakkerij met het lekkerste brood

Gisteren heerlijk geluncht bij deze plek. Achterin de zaak zijn ongeveer 20-30 zitplekken. De warme broodjes waren lekker en goed belegd. Opvallend was de koffie, niet gevraagd uit welk land, maar deze was zacht van structuur, vol van smaak en toch aan de sterke kant. Een erg fijne combinatie.

Het is ok. Er is alleen 1 chronisch chagrijnige dame die mijn plezier in het uitzoeken van brood en lekkere koffie verpest.

Étant une française et adorant la boulangerie française et donc de vrais bons croissants ceux là sont excellents!! de vrais goûts comme en france!! et ce n’est pas très chère!! tout était très bon!! j’ai adore!! même le jus d’orange frais très bon et pas excessif !! je vous conseille fortement allez y !!

Nice place for a coffee and breakfast.

- Prima bakker en aanbod, eindcijfer: 6. - Prijzen zijn gemiddeld aan de hogere kant; Avocado feta brood was goed. Voor 1 smalle snee brood is €10,50 aan de dure kant - Ice-coffee was €3,95 maar ietwat aan de bittere kant en waterig. Zelf gevraagd om suiker om toe te voegen. Dit was snel op tafel gelegd. Met het papieren rietje geroerd… toen ik mijn ice-coffee wilde meenemen, werd er een plastic beker gebracht. Aangezien de deksel er niet goed op paste, werd mijn rietje op tafel gezet en vervolgens weer in de ice-coffee. Niet heel smakelijk/hygiënisch. - Jongedame leek gehaast te zijn, snel vragen, snel weg, snel spullen neerzetten etc. Hierdoor komt de ongeduldigheid op je over - Positief: leuk gelegen aan de Binnenweg. Zonnetje schijf ook op het terras (aan de voorkant).

Een high tea voor thuis gehaald. Niet alleen zag het er super verzorgd uit, het was ook heerlijk en ruim voldoende en ook voor een normale prijs. Echt een aanrader!

Mooie zaak. Kwam er voor de 2e of 3e keer. Eerste keer geholpen door de superaardige eigenares. Nu door een wat afstandelijke dame. Ik hou persoonlijk toch wel van wat meer enthousiasme. Taartjes en ook hun jam/honing collectie ziet er goed uit, maar wel aan de prijs allemaal (zal ook wel deels aan de buurt liggen). 8,50 voor 2 gebakjes (tartelettes) is voor de happy few lijkt me.

Mixture between Coffe and Baker. Quality over all is good and the staff is friendly. The little fruit cakes are really nice. We also tried the breakfast and the lunch and both where good. All products are fresh and tasty. Overall a good experience.
