Vlaamsch Broodhuys Meent in Rotterdam Centrum

I love this place! A bit warm inside, so be careful if you are like me who cannot stand warmth too well.. but nice staff, amazing pastries, and as an Italian even coffee is good enough. Bread looks beautiful. I don't understand how Served is so full of people and this place is empty and nice! Service is a little bit meh, but again.. we are in the NL. Service not their forte! Overall I'd come back for sure.

I had lunch at Vlaamsch Broodhuys in Utrecht and was impressed with the taste and the bread, so I found it in Rotterdam and went there for breakfast on my second day. The food was as good as I expected. The spacious open seating allowed me to relax and watch the people passing by. However, even during the busy morning hours, the bakery and cafe are run by a single woman, so it's understandable that it can take a while. This bakery seems to be found in every large city in the western Netherlands, so I recommend it if you're having trouble choosing a bakery.

We popped into Vlaamsch Broodhuys on the Meent and couldn’t resist their truffle egg salad sandwich—pure comfort with just the right truffle twist. This spot hits the travel sweet spot: classic, flavorful, and unpretentious. The cozy, wood-accented interior is perfect for slowing down mid-tour. Hit pause with a bite and regroup before exploring more of Rotterdam. In short: delicious sandwich, comfy café vibe, excellent pit stop on the go.

Great food and baked goods, OK coffee. If your priority is coffee, there are better in the neighborhood. But if your priority is lovely sandwiches and baked goods, then come here 😊

Quality of the food is good. However, the service is not good. Staff does not pay attention to new guests and the order the come in.

Very bad service. Prices are on the high side. €9.95 for a sandwich with cheese. We had to wait a very long time after which the service first helped other people who had arrived later. For us this was the very last time we went here. In the future we will go to Jordy's a bit further.

Cappuccino not worth the money(4.5). I asked to do it twice because I felt like the beans got burned. I think they should change their beans. However, nice staff… but won’t go back for sure…

If you sell coffee with a cookie, you should do the same for the next one... the price is right, and just coffee without it is so bare. The staff acts so "surprised" by it. Years later, and it hasn't gotten any better: ridiculously expensive, rude staff, and bland sandwiches that you pay a premium for. It's also often very quiet there, and now I know why.

Friendly staff. Wide selection of bread. Small terrace outside. Busy street, but still a cozy spot.

Breakfast was disappointing. Baguette was tough and I found jars of peanut butter and chocolate paste on the table to be less hygienic. This makes the price-quality ratio unsatisfactory

My daughter and I had high tea. Fantastic! Delicious, tasty, and thoroughly enjoyed. The service was also very friendly. Wouldn't change a thing! We'll definitely be back.

3,5 stars Sunday afternoon. Stopped by at 3 o’clock for coffee with a sweet treat. I wanted to try one of their artisanal tarts. Sadly, they had sold most of their tarts already. They only had 3 different tarts left. I ordered the mango tart and lemon tart w/ merengue. Both tarts were tasty. Not too sweet. The crust was hard; difficult to eat with a fork. I also tried one of their sourdough breads. It was tasty. I sampled two of their nut butters. They were also very tasty. I would definitely buy some of their tarts and breads again. The tarts are approx. 6 euros and the breads range from 5 to 9 euros. A bit expensive. If you want to try a specific tart or bread, I would recommend stopping by early.

No stars for the food or service because we didn't get any. We were so disappointed after coming here on Valentine's day and wasting 30 mins of our day because no one came to serve us the whole time. We're regular customers and this used to be one of our favourite cafes- the staff often recognises us and even remembers our usual orders. Today we were completely ignored. They were busy, but not as busy as we've seen it, and several other people were served before us (even though staff had to walk past us to serve them). We were in an open space and easily visible with no food or drinks.

Inflation and shrinkflation are combined here. You pay a lot and then have to score a good meal somewhere to fill your stomach. The food is nice but it's a shame that it's so little for those prices. Also poor selection of beers. Furthermore, well.. cup of hot chocolate was nice, but costs you 5 euros.

Saturdayafternoon , 🕑 p.m. , rainy day , outdoorterrace , cappuccino , Coca-Cola , raspberry cake , Dominican PDRCapa Oscuro . Been here 3 times before at the Vlaamsch Broodhuys Meent , yet this time it felt the tallest female staff member was not having her day because of the way she handled my order compared to previous colleagues of her . It was an attitude of “ this is not my day “ grim face . The cappuccino was fine , but the raspberry dough cake was dry , cold and not “juicy” at all despite it looked from outside the counter very tempting . In all a disappointing 4th visit and hopefully the next will be better cause Vlaamsch Broodhuys has a reputation to hold up .

Really friendly staff. We both had the parisien breakfast. It consisted of tea or coffee a baguette croissant and spreads with an option of adding extras I had ham, and my partner has the boiled egg. Will be back again

I love this bakery! The pastries are always fresh and delicious, and it's my favorite place in town. But I noticed the staff touching the baked goods and sandwiches without gloves or tongs, which is a bit concerning for hygiene. I hope they consider using gloves or tongs for better food safety. All in all it remains a great place!

Wow-wow, employee with a remarkably misplaced attitude! I came to pick up 2 packages 'to good to go'. The lady in question arrives with 2 cake boxes. I express my surprise/surprise at the fact that my order is in cake boxes because I usually receive bread. So I ask her 'can I freeze it?' and she answers 'yes.' Then I ask her what is in those boxes and she says 'cake' to which I respond 'yes, I see that too!' The boxes are closed with tape, so it is somewhat cumbersome to see for yourself what is inside. So I ask what kind of cake it is and she starts making a loud drama (based on her assumptions) about my comment that I can see there is cake in the boxes. She says, among other things, 'I can't help it if you are angry that you don't get bread' and, after repeatedly asking, refuses to tell me what kind of cake is in the boxes because she feels unfairly treated by me... I estimate her to be the age of my grandchildren. Mind you, I was so early in the case that I still had plenty of time to do anything. cancel the order. As I walk out of the store I hear her complaining about the incident to her colleague who is standing in the room where the boxes came from. A very disappointing experience with regard to the service.

Much against. A refined toasted sandwich 12.95, the ham and cheese was very mediocre.

Vlaamsch Broodhuys offers the option to deliver it via Thuisbezorgd. So don't do that, delivery time is more than an hour and people blame each other and you as a customer have to settle for this. To top it off, the bread is not cut and you can therefore go to the store to have this done, even though the cutting is indicated! What kind of toddler stuff is this, not professional at all. I recommend never doing this, because you can still go to the store during your lunch time from work😒

2:15 PM: Menu on the table but kitchen “closed” so only sweets available! Cappuccino (= hot milk with a little coffee) is served without saucer, sugar or spoon. For €3.75…

Thought we would have lunch here this afternoon. There was one other table occupied so not busy. No one came to us, so I asked if I should order at the cash register myself. No, my colleague will join you shortly. Well, the colleague was having a nice private chat at the other table. Got up after more than 10 minutes. Greetings and told by Mrs. that we had no patience and had only been inside for 10 minutes. Well big bye, what terrible service!!

Just good. Portions are fine. However, one of the pieces of bread had a bit of a strange taste, I think some dressing/fillings had been spilled. Smoothie was delicious.

Encantadora bienvenida. Personal amable y atento. Gran elección en el menú. Haga sándwiches calientes y normales en el pan de la casa, . Tomó el pastrami caliente y queso con rábano picante. El rábano picante se sirve en un tazón para que pueda sumergirse en él. Buena idea.

Went here with my mother this afternoon, what a downer! Not a friendly welcome, service that you don't see sitting there, ladies behind the counter having a pleasant conversation, no one who saw us sitting (and with us other guests/customers, who were also not approached for their order). After more than 15 minutes, still no one came to take our order. Now it wasn't really busy, but the service just didn't come! We got up and left, with no illusions about having a nice lunch with my 83 year old mother! Not a nice place to have lunch, but delicious products. In the past I also experienced a few times that the service simply did not come to take the order, then they got sandwiches and left. After a long time I tried again, never again!

Delicious food. The taste of our dish was good. I thought the price/quality ratio was skewed. I had a warm sandwich. A Ham and cheese sandwich and they charged 12.95 for it. I expected at least a small salad with it. But the taste was great!

Had lunch with friends. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, the waiter did not come to ask if we wanted something to drink. There was also, presumably, a new colleague, which caused some confusion with the serving of the food. This has been resolved. Toilets are on the ground floor and you have to walk down a flight of stairs, so not handicap friendly in that respect.

Had a nice Mother's Day High Tea (no, not in theme or something like that, but just good). Delicious food, something was quickly adjusted when I indicated that I had a fish allergy. The only point I have is that it could have been checked more often whether the teapot was empty (this was not only with us, but also at the table behind us). That's why 4 stars for service instead of 5.

A croissant, a cup of coffee and a loaf of bread for a total of 10.50. Bit expensive. The bread was tasteless. The service was fine. And you're sitting there looking nice. But for bread I prefer to go to Jordy's or Lidl.

Croissant was good. The service was incredibly slow and bad. There was only one person walking from here to there while some ladies walked a bit slowly, trying to help people. Chair was covered in crumbs. Received a cappuccino without a coaster. Spoon was simply placed on the table. Too bad... I think they have good products, but I won't go there anymore because of the service

A blond girl who is working there always cheating with the prices, many times I take small cappuccino 3.50 ok they take also for cup 20 cents which is also weird and she was making price like for big one and not one time…later when I checked my card I see the wrong price. I don’t recommend this place!!!

Very attentive staff. Food was great and the coffee as well.

Went inside because it looked cozy from outside. No of the staff said hi or anything to us. We sat there for few minutes, and no one came to take our order. I went to the counter to order, but then there was no one there as well. Only one person at the shop. It was not even weekend and it was not busy(only 4 more costumers) so I don’t get what took them so long. Anyway after that, we just left. If you are understaffed, and can’t come to the costumers immediately, at least say hi to them, and give them waiting time estimation.

I went here for evening coffee to enjoy with a croissant and blueberry oats cookie. Perfect atmosphere to sit and enjoy in chilli winter evening.

Lunch met mijn partner. Koffie was redelijk lekker alleen iets te lang gestaan dus niet meer zo warm. Ik had rauwmelkse boerenkaas op zuurdesembrood. Kaas was wat plastic achtig op een dunne boterham op een plank met 2 mini augurkjes voor 9.95. Mijn vriend had gekookte beenham goudse boerenkaas op gegrilde zuurdesembrood. Bleek feitelijk een tosti voor 12.25 euro. Ja was inderdaad best lekker maar toch waren we wat teleurgesteld, zeker betreft de prijzen. De bediening was erg vriendelijk maar erg langzaam. Ik koop voortaan weer gewoon alleen brood hier. Dat lijkt mij beter.

Reserved a high tea for a birthday with a group of friends. What a letdown. They had reserved the house room for us. We were put in the basement in a kind of unpleasant canteen. With 8 people at a long table (for 20 pp) with fluorescent light. No atmosphere at all. No effort had been made. The service was too busy to come down, so we had to go up ourselves every time to order. The food was disappointing, some sweets and sandwiches. When we mentioned it, the waitress became defensive instead of accommodating us. Definitely not recommended. We paid the price for poor service, a poor high tea and a horrible environment.

Great bread but no zero service ! This is the second time I’m writing a review for this bakery. Last time I gave them 5 stars and unfortunately this time only 1 star for them. The quality of the food hasn’t changed because service is unacceptably low! I am saying this from my last over 10 times visit. I often go there to get a coffee and bread after my Sunday morning run. And I could let alone at the cashier waiting to be served for more 10 mins without any greeting while 3 -5 staff walking in and out the cashier counter. It’s a small bakery/cafe with 4,5 ppl on the floor. Th least you could do is to acknowledge your customer who’s standing at the cashier for more than 5 mins.

I have never been served such a dirty cup. How do you judge something like that? I give 3 stars instead of 1, but I hope they will take it into account next time. Because how am I supposed to translate this if I get a cup like that? Not welcome? I'm worth nothing?

I was here this morning for breakfast, I had to get up twice to ask to order because even though there were four waitresses and six tables occupied, no one arrived. After half an hour we received a cappuccino, a hot chocolate and an almond croissant. I would never recommend this place for breakfast

Leuke plek om te ontbijten of lunchen. Ik ging voor de Pastrami, welke erg goed te doen was. Zeker icm de saus van mierikswortel.

I ordered a kind of pie called rabarber frambozen, and it was the worst thing l ever ate . It costed me above 5 Eur. How come such awful stuff can be sold? Cappuccino tasted below than average, service very slow. It was first and last time l stepped over there.

Lekker belegd zuurdesembrood. Wij hebben het proeverij van Dimitri's boterhammen genomen en hadden 8 verschillende soorten beleg. IJsthee viel een beetje tegen, zat niet veel smaak aan. Cappuccino met het notentaartje, was ook erg lekker.

Nice breakfast! We order by Uber eats. Focaccia is massive, a bit dry if you don’t eat in one go but it’s still really nice. Chocolatine really fluffy and tasty! Brownie & scone weee delicious! And we had 2 sandwich ; truffle & eggs sandwich (delicious) & one with tuna - delicious too. Massive portion.

We have been to this place at least 5-6 times already and always loved it, but unfortunately today was extremely disappointing. We arrived a bit after 11, which admittedly is quite busy on a Sunday. It was three of us, we ordered a coffee each, a sandwich, a yoghurt granola, a savoury pastry and three items from the sweet baked goods. Most of these require little to no preparation time, which becomes important later in the story. Our coffees arrived after about 20 minutes, which is not particularly quick but we could see the workers being very busy so it was not an issue. Our waitress, however, was. One of the coffees she brought was incorrect, and she half-insisted we should keep it. Eventually she agreed to take it back and bring a replacement. The food was the real disaster, however. At some point the waitress came again to "check if we needed anything else". We told her we had ordered some food a while ago (by that point it had been around 40-45 minutes) and it had not arrived. It is noteworthy that in the meantime several tables of new people had arrived, ordered, eaten, and some had even left already. She said something that I did not quite catch, but interpreted as "I will go look" or something similar. We waited for another 15 minutes or so and the food was nowhere to be seen. By that time it had already been about an hour since our order. We finished our coffees, went to the counter and paid for them, to our waitress. She asked if everything was ok and we said that no, it was not ok and we had ordered food an hour ago that never arrived. She was totally passive about the entire thing, did not even comment on it, did not apologise, and just charged us for the coffees and left it there. There was no reason to make a scene, so we just paid and left. Honestly this was one of the worst services I have had in my life, particularly so because of the lack of acknowledgement of the situation. If when we pointed out we had received no food (any of the times we did) the waitress had been a bit apologetic and tried to somehow resolve the issues it would not have been such a big deal. I would have put 1 star but I put 2 just because our previous visits were good.

Heerlijk gegeten en superbediening!

Wij komen hier graag ontbijten! Broodjes en gebakjes zijn heerlijk! Vriendelijk personeel, alleen soms wat onervaren lijkt het. Je moet hier niet heen gaan als je haast hebt, het kan namelijk even duren voordat je geholpen wordt. Verder is het lekker zitten, fijne ambiance, en natuurlijk heerlijk smikkelen.

Een groot en een gezellig ontbijt/lunch plek op de meent. Vlaamsch Broodhuys vaak gezien maar nooit eerder bezocht. Buiten terras is helemaal vol. Medewerker heeft ons opgevangen en mochten we buiten zitten als we over een uur klaar kan zijn want de tafel is gereserveerd. Medewerker is vriendelijk en alert werkt pas 1 dag. Zij neemt de moeite om navraag te doen bij collega toen ik vroeg over een ingredient. Eten is mooi opgediend en heerlijk. Koffie mok heeft een leuk grappig icoontje!

EUR 3,45 voor een saucijzenbroodje, dat is prijzig. Aldus.... het personeel zelf! Mee eens, al was hij wel lekker.

Lovely coffee, the missus had a cheese croissant which was nice. I didn't have any food (apart from the cake samples that came with the coffee) but it all looked delicious. Will hopefully stop by again if we are in the area.

Parijs ontbijt is erg lekker; helaas mist er wel een ei.

Mijn zoon kocht brood en voor de zoveelste keer het verkeerde brood ? Misschien personeel plaatjes van het brood laten leren . Opgebeld wilde ze niet eens kijken ivm mijn allergieën welk brood ik wel had . Moest ik op internet maar kijken zei ze en ja mijn zoon moest beter opletten ?? Ipv Julius spelt kreeg ik brood met mosterdzaad , wel een verschil . En kon ik dus niet eten . Bij de visboer krijg ik ook geen kabeljauw voor zalm als ik even niet oplet .

Came here today and it’s quite a nice place with a good selection of pastries, sandwiches, and drinks. Staff were quite friendly although we did have to go to them to ask for some service once we went to sit. The two pastries we had were delicious and I highly recommend. The coffee was also decent but nothing special. However overall it’s a nice cozy place which I do recommend to others.

Vlaams broodhuys is TOPkwaliteit brood dat weten we. Maar een kipsandwich en een scone voor €17,80 is echt te gortig voor wat je krijgt! Welliswaar zitten hier ook Deliveroo kosten bij maar voor €7,95 verwachte ik meer dan een ijskoude al van tevoren bereide (denk ik want zo smaakte het alsof je s’ochtends een sandwich in de koelkast legt en hem voor de lunch eruit haalt) sandwich met een taaie korst (niet knapperig zoals als je het daar eet) een karig schepje overigens heerlijke kipsalade en 3 blaadjes slappe sla. Ook verwacht ik voor €5,95 geen geschifte clotted cream en had ik een wat ruimer bakje verwacht. Jammer maar voor mij een misser. Voor bv €5,95 en €3,95 was het nog prijzig geweest maar was ik iets minder teleurgesteld geweest. Ik bestel zeker 3x per week buiten de deur dus ben ook echt geen gier of moeilijk met uitgeven maar verwacht van bepaalde zaken voor bepaalde prijzen gewoon een goede kwaliteit. Helaas pindakaas want als je het daar eet is het heerlijk maar bezorgen was voor mij een dure flop vandaag.

Het was gezellig, lekkere sandwich en heerlijke scone. Niet te druk en vriendelijke bediening.
