The food is delicious and what you'd expect from a bakery/lunchroom, but the prices are a bit steep. For example, €11.25 for a 1/3 baguette and a croissant is too much.

Always loved the place, especially bread is great but unfortunately something happened with the service ( they counted an extra product that I didn't order and when I pointed out and asked money back, turned out it was not possible to get money back (how strange) and I had to choose something else to buy that I didn't even need and no one even said sorry ! Not nice really!

Used to be good quality but a little expensive. Quality has dropped. Seems like all people are new. Went to buy half a bread, but they sliced off a lot so it was more like a third that we brought home. Super expensive in this case.

The kitchen always closes way too early. Today I was there at 1:25 PM, and the kitchen was already closed. This isn't the first time this has happened. Google says the store is open until 6:00 PM, but apparently the kitchen closes hours before. Absolutely ridiculous.

Overpriced and bad service. There has been a recent drop of quality and especially quantity served. They definitely need to have a look at other bakeries of the same sort

We are here today, it has been 40min and the food is not here, the lady who is making the food has been chatting non stop so, we are hungry and still we can't have food.

The price-quality ratio is really bad here. I just paid almost 13 euros for a ham and cheese sandwich. Definitely not recommended for lunch.

Incredibly expensive for what you get. €7.95 for two sandwiches with a meager topping. I regularly come here during my lunch break, but the amount of toppings this time was outrageous. You're better off going further down the street to BLT; their sandwiches are well-filled, you get more bread, and the price is even lower.

A cosy little bakery with really good breads and baked goods.

They are quite slow, sometimes you need to wait 10min or more to get a coffee even if 4 people are working in a non-busy time. Super expensive, but what troubles me the most is that they touch bread, croissants , actually everything with their bare hands, no gloves whatsoever. Today there was a dog inside and one of the waiters petted it, did she wash her hands after touching your bread afterwards... I guess we'll never know

We waited a very long time to receive our order (appx 10-15 minutes for just water and lemonade and then another extra 10 minutes to get our salads). They have decreased the quantity of the meals - and they also forgot to add some of the listed in the menu ingredients to the salad. Hygiene is also very low - they touch the bread and everything else with bare hands. I wouldn't visit again...

There's really nothing wrong with this place for a drink and maybe even lunch. Quality of the products is okay. As with all catering establishments in the cities, in terms of prices, this bread house is also just a hair's breadth away from making delicious coffee at home, baking a cake or delicious cookies and inviting friends or neighbors. Catering can actually only be done by bicycle or on foot. Because if you also have to pay the municipality for parking, it is unaffordable. It's a shame that it all has to cost so much money.

Good for business appointments if you want a quiet place to work.

Really good products especially on the bakery side. I would wish though that they would wear gloves or some kitchen tongs when picking up the bread/croissants/etc. From a hygiene perspective this is not OK at all, especially since they are not washing hands every minute.

Delicious bread, but the fact that the bread is at the front without a cover, so that every visitor who talks about consumption can talk about the bread is quite bizarre. Just like an employee is cleaning and then helps me with the bread. What hygienic standard is adhered to here?

Since management changed last year the service went downhill very fast. No-one cares, unfriendly staff, long waiting times. In short, a clear example on how a completely inept manager can ruin a place by demotivating personnel and scaring off customers.

Worst service ever and too expensive: don't come to this unfriendly place

Not good service. I have now given it the opportunity to prove itself a number of times, but every time I have to walk to the counter myself after waiting twenty minutes for the staff. I wouldn't have minded this if the concept was that you had to order at the counter. However, that is not the case here. What makes it an even more unpleasant experience is that an employee brings coffee to the table next to me and then does not inform her colleague that there are customers waiting or the like. In conclusion: very poor, slow and above all absent service. In addition to the poor service, the prices are also far too high. 13 euros for a sandwich?

Great food. Nice and cosy, but quiet enough to work.

I waited 30 minutes for my order, and the staff seemed to completely forget about me. No apology was offered whatsoever. Then the muffin I ordered turned out not to be fresh at all. What I found really unsanitary was that they used one jar of jam for all customers instead of serving a clean bowl of jam per customer. The idea that someone could have put the spoon directly into their mouth and then put it back in the pot was very distasteful to me. All in all, this was a disappointing experience, and I will not be returning to this cafe.

I used to like this café when it first opened. Since the new management took over, the service has gone down hill. I have sat there several times waiting far too long to be served and the workers could not care less, they were busy chatting within themselves, doing "computer work", looking gloomy and uninterested. Once I waited 15 minutes for someone to even come to my table despite the fact I was the only custumer there and there were three members of staff. In addition the menu has literally not changed AT ALL in years. In my opinion they need a wake up call. Overall very unfriendly staff.

Broad selection of French breads and pastries. We had a coffee inside with a tarte tatin and a chocolate muffin. They let us in with our dog. ☺️

Great guys work here. I noticed this during my visit that was severely understaffed. But everyone was helped in a friendly manner within a reasonable time. That's great when the whole place is full and there are only 2 of you working. Good coffee and delicious sausage rolls!

The response I received from a staff member, who appeared to be the owner, was rather dismissive, stating that the sign was old. If that is indeed the case, I would kindly suggest they remove it to avoid confusion. However, the interaction left me with the distinct feeling that they may not be particularly open to hiring people from diverse backgrounds. Secondly, there were significant hygiene concerns. When I placed my order, the staff member grabbed my bread with his bare hands, rather than using tongs or gloves. This is not only unprofessional but also raises questions about the bakery's commitment to basic food safety standards. Another issue was the way the beverages were served. I ordered a cappuccino, which was given to me in a regular glass. As the drink was understandably hot, it made it difficult and uncomfortable to hold. Cups are designed for this very reason, and I would recommend the bakery reconsider how they serve hot drinks for the comfort of their customers. In conclusion, while this place may have potential, it needs to address several areas of improvement—particularly in terms of hygiene, professionalism, and openness to diverse clientele. A more welcoming and inclusive attitude, coupled with attention to basic standards, would go a long way in elevating the customer experience.

Lack of hygiene, ppl serving touch the cleaning cloths or money and then serve you in their bare hands.. ever heard of food hygiene standards? Or just common sense maybe?

I ordered a coffee and a short-lemon cake. I was shocked how "short" it was, it is really tiny for this price!!! But that was not even the main issue. I drank half of my coffee and decided to go to the toilet, I left my cup on the table together with my clothes laying on the chair, so it is visible that there is still somebody. When I came back the coffee was gone, I went to tell them that they took my coffee for nothing, so the waitress told me she would bring mew a new coffee. 5 minutes later NOTHING, I already didn't even want it anymore, so I stood up and went to pay. I had to wait another 5 minutes at the kassa and when it was my turn to pay, I asked to take that coffee out of the check because I do not want to pay for the coffee that was taken away from me. The kassa girl said ok, no problem and invited me to pay, I didn't see the amount and paid, only then I saw that it was 7,50. I asked why? She told me because we made a new coffee for you. I told her they didn't and I don't need it anymore after all this waiting. The funny thing is that the bartender has not even started it yet, he literally asked her whether or not he still needs to do it or not, right in front of me. So I explained her again that I should have not paid anything after all this, but she refused to understand. I was not in the mood to fight over 4 EUR and literally said OK BYE and left. What a crappy service! I will never go there again and will never advise it to anyone.

Delicious sausage roll with a well-made Flat white coffee with which you received a free piece of cake instead of a cookie

Een gevalletje mooie uitstraling (design) en beroerde uitvoering van de werkzaamheden. Er was geen lunch meer vanaf 14 uur door omstandigheden. Ok...toen zijn we voor 3 biertjes en 1 appelsap en een worstenbroodje, saucijzenbroodje en een kaascroissant gegaan. Dat we in het Engels moesten bestellen, is iets wat we al gewend zijn, maar de ongeïnteresseerde houding was wel bijzonder te noemen. Ze was niet bekend met de biertjes op de kaart, en bracht ons in eerste instantie de verkeerde. Wel daarna de goede biertjes gebracht, maar niet echt vriendelijk....en de blikjes waren smoezelig. Zeker wanneer je 34,45 euro aftikt voor iets simpels als dit. Het was allemaal een beetje teleurstellend...lauw bier, vieze blikjes, broodjes waren qua smaak prima , maar de fruitvliegen in de zaak waren een teken van desinteresse. Hier mag weleens een manager een bezem door halen. Geen prettige ervaring.

We were told we had to wait at least 40 minutes... because they didn't have enough plates. Even though there were 4 staff members and it was not busy. After 20 minutes, 5 people sat next to us who received their food 10 minutes earlier. I understand that there are not enough plates if you don't clear the tables. The man next to us had to wait 30 minutes for a cappuccino and a croissant... The food was tasty but after waiting 40 minutes everything tastes good. Shame..

Long waits, tables with dirty stuff, service running around like headless chickens, mistakes in orders, quick-witted and unfriendly. It's really too expensive for that. Better avoid lunchtime.

Update; I once went by around 5 o'clock and had previously heard from staff that you could buy loaves of bread at a discount at that time. However, the gentleman behind the counter looked at me indignantly when I asked about this. In the end he made me pay the full amount, without explicitly stating this. I found this out afterwards. Not very customer friendly... unfortunately. Because of this incident, I now go to another baker. ---- A cup of cappuccino (with soy milk) is delicious and you get a piece of cinnamon bread with it. The breads here are also very tasty. It's not cheap, but I go there every now and then for a little treat. The staff is very warm and inviting. I hope they add vegan pastries to their range... it would really make it perfect! In any case, the alternative milks (soy, oat, almond and coconut) are appreciated. I.v.m. sustainability it would be even better if they made these options more attractive: let it be the same price (or cheaper) than cow's milk!

Very tasty sandwiches and sweet and hardworking staff.

Some of their breads and pastries are really delicious. Try the myltiseed pavé, the pavé Christophe, the muffins, the nut bread, the red berry pie and the coffee. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the rest of their breads and pastries (I tried them all). Especially, stay away from the baguette.

After serve the drinks they told us that we cannot order anything to eat because they were to busy (really quiet at that moment). 5 minutes later one person order a tosty and they served it to her quickly.

Waarom is het zó moeilijk een behoorlijke Cappuccino te krijgen? Dit was echt verschrikkelijk,lauw bakje tja wat…café au lait? Misschien. Suikerklontje van een andere tafel, lepeltje wordt in de hand achterna gebracht, kom op nou jongens…

On Thursday, December 7, I visited the Vlaamsch Broodhuys with my wife and mother. We ordered an apple pie, brownie and a sausage roll along with tea and coffee. The food was very good. You can taste the quality and the craftsmanship shines through. The drinks were fine. We sat in the back and that was a nice place to be. In addition to the counter to order bread and pastries, etc., there are plenty of seats here for lunch (with colleagues). The service is top notch. Why do I give 3 stars? It is incredibly expensive at the Vlaamsch Broodhuys.

Okay, their breads and almond croissants are very good… but they ALWAYS run out by midday, the coffee is undrinkable (seriously, THE worst)... and the staff are always rude (which is pretty rich considering the prices they charge! I mean, it would be crazy for customers to actually want their products in stock, right?) Markt next door has great bread (at half the price) are there are other bakeries to support. Don’t waste your time here.

Decent food, but very overpriced. Over 8 euros for two pieces of toast and three toppings (jam, peanut butter and chocolate smear), or double the price for an extra croissant and 1/3 of a baguette is rather steep.

Needed to buy some cakes to take with me. The personal handled the cakes without any tool or gloves, with the bare hands! Paid more then what the sign said, -The cash register says this price. Sometimes the prices change and we don’t change the sign. Yes, I’m aware that just could cancel my purchase but I was in a hurry.

Het brood was wel lekker, alleen wel erg veel geld de hoeveelheid beleg dat erop zit.

This bakery has a nice vibe but they’re trying to do too much with their offering without the oven capacity to back it up. They have such a variety of products but frequently run out of the basics like croissants and pain au chocolat. A bakery shouldn’t run out of those in the morning! It’s pretty expensive for what you get too.

I never like cinnamon bun until I tried at this place. Everything is good. Ambience is super cosy and staffs are friendly. However, you can only use their free WiFi for one and half hour. Understandable since their customers are double the amount if their seating can offers and they keep coming. The toilets are super gorgeous and clean. Love that!

Heerlijk koffie gedronken met wat lekkers erbij...

Pay no mind to the photos, the light is cozy and atmospheric, but doesn't make for the loveliest pictures. However, if you want a scone-induced org@sm, no other place in the Hague will get you there. All jokes aside, Vlaamsch Broodhuys is a great spot for bread (something the Dutch have not figured out in 2023 years), if you're a German expat looking for great bread, this is the place (bitte, probieren sie das Brot). The pastrami sandwich was great, and the coffee was also excellent.

Te duur voor wat je krijgt en lekker zeker niet, een soort van tosti met kip of zo... proefde de kip niet en met parmezaanse kaas... waar die ook mag wezen. Beter naar de buren. Personeel wel top. Ik denk dat het niet lang gaat duren met dit bedrijf.

Nice desserts but not a great atmosphere. We frequently visit cafes in the neighborhood to read, do work, or relax but here they were pressuring us to buy more and to sit together on a tiny table even though we needed the tabletop space. Not relaxing and more of a restaurant cafe culture like on plein where you have to consume and be with people rather than a coffee place where you can relax and do your thing. Wasted opportunity in the neighborhood and we prefer koekela and coffee company for their relaxed attitude.

Je kunt niet alles hebben in het leven. Brood is hier uitstekend. Helaas is de bediening vaak afwezig. Ik ben hier waarschijnlijk net zo vaak weer weggegaan als dat ik er wat heb besteld. Kijk daarom eerst even naar binnen, voordat je besluit er wat te gaan halen.

Heerlijke cappuccino en kreeg een stukje koek erbij. Vroeg wat voor koekje het was, want deze was heerlijk. Twee tellen later kwam een heel vriendelijke dame mij een doosje brengen met een stuk koek. Deze kreeg ik van haar omdat ze het anders toch weg zou moeten doen! Dit is pas vriendelijkheid naar je klanten toe.

Very nice bistro, good for a quick lunch. Staff is very attentive, pastry and bread delicious.

The bread is amazing, I highly recommend getting the Parisian breakfast so you can try their croissant, baguettes and spreads. The decoration and setting of the place is also great, minimalist and confortable.

The most wonderful staff! We were trying to put together a Passover meal for our daughter.. they were incredibly helpful with finding all the ingredients they made our dinner as success! The prices were great and the place was pristine and clean!

Great food and service for my family of 6!

Nice selection of artisan breads, and one place you can get sour dough bread. French style cake with a selection of teas an coffee. I really like the pigs in blankets (sausage wrapped in bread), these are excellent hot in the store or cold as a lunch snack. It's also a good place for breakfast. Staff are always nice. The store has plenty of seating and has a nice atmosphere

We moesten in een winkel in de buurt zijn en hebben hier geluncht. Wat een heerlijke, lekkere gerechten en broden hebben ze hier. Echt een aanrader!

Lunch, broodje zalm. Beleg vond ik een beetje karig. Daarom ook de prijs te hoog. Service was goed.
