Vlaamsch Broodhuys Twijnstraat Utrecht in Wijk 06 Binnenstad

We stayed overnight at a hotel (Moxy) and weren't in the mood for the standard breakfast buffet. A few minutes' walk away, we found Vlaamsch Broodhuys, where we had a truly delicious and relaxing breakfast.

Delightful coffee shop with good drinks and food

Wonderful place. We came here twice for breakfast.

Spent quite a bit of money to end up throwing almost everything away, the worst sausage rolls so far. Burnt on the outside and as dry as can be inside. I'm really bummed about this. There goes my money and breakfast.

Je word de indruk gegeven dat je ambachtelijk vers gebakken brood koopt. Is niet waar. Is ook ‘fabrieks’ brood allemaal dat in hele grote batches in een centrale bakkerij (vlgs mij Vlaardingen) gemaakt wordt en over t land gedistribueerd. De broden zijn dus niet echt vers meer en dat proef je. De knapperige korst van bijv t stokbrood is taai. 3 eur 25. Het diep bruine brood is sompig en mag voor die prijs (6euro nog wat) toch echt niet zo zou mogen zijn voor wat gesuggereerd wordt.

A lovely bakery with a few tables for eating in. We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning and were the only guests eating in. The shop opens at 8 a.m., which is unusual in the city. Most cafes don't open until around 9 or 10 a.m. The seating area is quite cozy. There's a menu with a good selection. The food was good and was prepared and served by a friendly and attentive staff member. Points are deducted for the hefty prices. €13 for a slice of bread with avocado and feta isn't exactly cheap. The strawberries for the yogurt cost extra, which wasn't explained.

Delicious bread for breakfast, tasty granola yogurt, and delicious homemade lemonade. Very friendly staff!

Everything was just perfect. If you are in the area, don't miss this place. We tried sandwiches, breads, scones, croissants and cakes. Best breakfast in town.

Quality is served here. Large glass of tea, friendly staff. Seating area a bit too boring wall (grey), hence 1 star less. A bit too industrial. Furthermore, a nice place for a cup of coffee and something tasty in the city center of Utrecht.

Very good place for breakfast, but expensive compared to Italian bars

We had breakfast. The products were very good. There is a huge variety of bread and cakes. I think the price is a bit high, but I don't go there every day 😬 the staff are friendly and nice.

Weinig keuze, hoge prijzen en bijzonder onvriendelijk personeel. De prijs-kwaliteit-verhouding klopt hier beslist niet. Hier kom ik zeker niet weer.

Just had high tea here with the wifey on holiday. Very impressed by their genuine service and positive vibes. Highly recommend and will come back here on the next trip!

Why does Vlaamsch Broodhuys pretend to be a traditional baker while the bread contains many e-numbers, thickeners and other unnecessary additives?

Came here twice, first time was better Mid coffee and very overpriced Stale cookie so that sucked The girl serving was pretty judgmental too

Lovely savory and sweet foods. I really like the scone with jam and cream, and the feta/avocado open sandwich is great. I havent tried a sandwich I didn't like. Only reason for 4 not 5 stars is sometimes it's confusing where to sit (sign says wait to be seated but often the servers look at you like you should have just sat yourself). Would love to be able to eat outdoors when the weather is good too.

Gaan lunchen in deze zaak. Bestelde een fruit smoothie en deze was verdund met ijsblokken waardoor het meer naar water smaakte dan naar fruit. Een worstenbrood besteld, maar hadden ze niet meer. Een frambozentaartje besteld, was er ook niet meer. Taartjes zijn daar om je holle tand mee te vullen en dat voor 7€/stuk! een croissant ham/kaas besteld, kregen een kaasbroodje. Personeel telkens moet wuiven want niemand kwam uit zichzelf. Eten was lekker maar miste telkens dat ene om niet meer bij te nemen. 50€ afrekening! Te duur voor wat het is. Voor ons de eerste en laatSte keer

Unfreundlich. Unsauber. Unpünktlich Wir haben noch nie so ein extrem unfreundliches Personal erlebt wie diesen Samstag! Und gedauert hat es ... ewig. Die Toilette war schmutzig. Die Tische ebenso. Nicht zu empfehlen!!!

Arrived here around 12 noon. Drinks quickly taken, but forgotten to bring. As a result, I was only able to order food after some time. Asked if the sandwich (30 sec work) could come first, followed by my hot dish. Came out well. So it didn't turn out well, I waited 30 minutes for a peanut butter sandwich, served with my warm bread. The strawberry banana smoothie contained more ice than drink. 12 ice cubes?? No, sorry, this is really substandard. There is hardly any chicken in the warm sandwich. Disappointment. The only thing that was nice were the colored pencils and paper.

In the Broodhuys you pay the Grand Prize. For good food, that is. The Vlaamsch Broodhuys was founded by Dimitri. I know this because he is everywhere in the shop: in photos on the wall, with recommendations on the menu and even on the salt shakers it is stated that the salt has been specially selected by him. The only thing it unfortunately lacked was his physical presence. I think Dimitri is a smart guy because he makes delicious sandwiches that he sells for a good price. Almost thirteen euros for a toasted sandwich with grilled vegetables (delicious!) and the same for toast with avocado and feta (also highly recommended). Despite the delicious lunch, the price unfortunately gives it three stars because I remain a frugal Dutchman, and not a Burgundian Flemish. Sorry Dimitri!

Snelle bediening met overheerlijke flat whites. Uitstekende services en mooie locatie. De vitrine met lekkernijen is sfeervol en het ruikt meestal naar vers gebakken brood.

Delicious bread, but around 12 the most popular bread is usually gone. Usually fish behind the net unless we make a reservation. I have reported this before, but the staff is always very short, which is a shame.

Good bread (to buy). But the menu in the dining area could use some updating (applies to all Vlaamsch Broodhuys branches). I would like to see some more fresh green salads and fat-free vegan options.

Wow, paying 5 euros for a smoothie made by Albert Heijn... the only addition from Vlaamsch Broodhuys are the ice cubes and plastic. If you don't make it yourself, don't serve it in front of the customer ;). And dear staff, I understand that it is Sunday and you are probably busy all day, but it wouldn't hurt to look up to see if you can help someone...

Onvriendelijk personeel, weinig en onaantrekkelijk lunchmenu en hele vieze homemade Icetea, jammer dat dat niet even aangegeven wordt.. Wij zijn weggegaan!

Staff cough into their hands and then grab the bread for the customers with their bare hands. Very unprofessional and just plain dirty. 1 star.

Were there early on a Sunday morning and there was only one person there who had to operate both the shop and the restaurant.

Zeer slecht. Je komt om 3 uur niet meer binnen omdat ze bijna gaanbsluiten...5 uur. Zeer onbeleefd en gestresst personeel. Er werken ook alleen maar kinderen. Brood is sowieso veel te zout. Advies: ga er niet heen.

Very bad. For the umpteenth time we are sent away at 3 o'clock because they are about to close. Very rude and stressed employees. Only children work there. Way too salty bread. Worthless entrepreneur.

Gutes Frühstück. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Leckere Brote, Brötchen und Süßspeisen. Vor allem die selbstgemachte Nougatcreme ist der absolute Wahnsinn. Da kannst Nutella in die Tonne treten. Kann jeden einen Abstecher da hinein empfehlen 😊

I like some of the bread variations and the small dessert pies are delicious. About a month back I went in and asked the clerk if they served soup in the cafe section and got hit with a "SiR, THis iS a BaKErY!" which was kind of unexpected and rude... There's an entire cafe in there. Maybe there's soup? I mean what did I do? I just asked... Anyways, I still like the place but hope I'm not ridiculed next time I drop by.

De belegde broodjes zijn ongeveer twee euro te duur. Bijna €10 voor vier kleine boterhammen met eiersalade en wat groene blaadjes is echt te veel.

We hebben hier geluncht. Lekker brood. De sandwiches kan je met verschillend beleg bestellen. Dan kan je van alles wat proeven. Bijv. zalm, tonijnsalade.

Werkelijk (h)eerlijk zuurdesem brood zonder toevoegingen die je vers moet eten, alleen gaat deze bakker pas om 8:30 open. Dat is dan ook meteen het enige minpuntje.

Heerlijk eten, echt top en waanzinnig, zowel het brood, als de taartjes, maar wel erg aan de prijs. De prijs is de reden van de 4 sterren ipv 5 sterren.
