Upon arrival, the manager rudely snapped at me for wanting to take my coat to the table. The quality of the food was mediocre – the fish wasn't quite cooked through. On the other hand, the service from the ladies was excellent, although I hope the phrase "You certainly don't need anything else to drink" was meant as reverse psychology.

Very nice place with a wonderful koa species

After waiting at least 40 minutes, we received our lunch. The food was tasty, but not worth the long wait. We ordered the goat cheese toastie, but the goat cheese didn't add much flavor. We also had crispy chicken, which tasted okay.

Nice place. The atmosphere outside is very pleasant. We only had a drink there, which was fine. The service was subpar, but that's to be expected with (very) young girls. Upon arrival, we were approached by three people and asked to find our own table. After that, it took over fifteen minutes before we were helped. With five occupied tables and three staff members, you'd expect things to be better. (Point of attention.) The food and drinks, on the other hand, were excellent! Delicious, even.

A truly wonderful experience! The food was fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and always smiling. The restaurant is clean and tidy, and the atmosphere is cozy. Definitely recommended, and I'd love to come back.

The reception at the restaurant was excellent. There are downstairs and upstairs rooms. We were placed in the upstairs room, which wasn't very welcoming. It had a low ceiling and a mediocre view. Next to us was a large group of loudly chatting ladies who were on a company outing. That wasn't pleasant and made lunch quite chaotic. My wife and I had to speak loudly to hear each other. I couldn't hear the waitress because of the noise. I'm home now and can finally relax. The lunch was quite tasty, though a bit pricey. And the portions were mediocre. My wife was still hungry afterward. The cappuccino was good. The ginger tea, however, had too little ginger, and the ginger wasn't peeled. The service was fast and friendly. We were even helped with our coats.

The food is good! The atmosphere is nice. However, we were seated in a spot where the staff knew it was a draft. After 30 minutes, we were moved. Everything else is poorly organized. We ordered a children's menu without any side dishes. When it arrived, everything was included. The staff doesn't check tables as they pass by, so drinks are minimally refilled. The main course was brought out, and we were told the fries were on their way. In the end, we finished our steak, so we decided to skip the fries because they still hadn't arrived. In short, a nice restaurant but disorganized service.

The food was delicious, and the restaurant and service were great. We had a buy-two-get-one-free voucher. Unfortunately, we forgot to give the receipt for payment, and we discovered it right away. We asked if it could be credited, but they said no. This is a huge oversight for such a lovely restaurant.

The main courses were disappointing. The rest was more than excellent!

Beautiful location. Ambience inside and out. We popped in for a drink on Friday evening. We were served quickly, but the bread and spreads weren't great. The spreads, that is. They were tasty, but not what you'd expect. And the kitchen was almost closing. Highly recommended.

We had a delicious meal here, but the service was excellent, polite, and attentive, which is becoming increasingly rare. So, keep up the good work! The carp, sea bass, and even the schnitzel are top-notch. The kitchen staff doesn't mind minor adjustments to the menu, so I found that very pleasant. Conclusion: you can have a great meal here!

With his third stomach ache after this. I've been to all the restaurants owned by this owner, but the food is always terrible. It looks nice and chic, but the food is so expensive and not worth it. You can make it better at home without stomach ache and an empty bank account, leaving you hungry afterwards. We ordered €17.50 for poached eggs with two eggs and a kind of mini rusk.

Beautiful riverside views, but the food and service were disappointing. The crispy chicken sandwich (€14.50) was dry, sparsely filled, and not fresh – for that price, I expected better quality. The dessert (Pornstar Martini Eton Mess) tasted good, but the meringue was very minimal. Wait times were long, and the host was unfriendly, although the waitresses did try their best. Tables are close together, and the smoking area was rather uninviting.

We've been coming here intermittently for years, but this time was the last time. The food has deteriorated somewhat over the years, becoming more run-of-the-mill. The menu itself is still fine, but the price-quality ratio has gone downhill. We ordered a Caesar salad with extra tuna and a salad bowl with goat cheese and nuts. The presentation is fine, but if you look at the "salad" itself, there's little "salad" to be seen, and you really have to rely on the extras. That in itself is strange, because you're ordering a salad. They also chose to serve it with bread or fries (so, chips). We opted for fries and each received one small bowl. You can have some qualms about that, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was that the pieces were all small, hard, almost burnt, and there were no regular fries with them. It seemed like they were the last of the bag or left over from the lunch rush. We obviously raised this issue, but nothing was done about it, not even an apology or a replacement of the contents of the dish. The rest was tasty, but as mentioned, the price/quality ratio is not right. After this disgrace—no self-respecting chef should serve this to a customer, and I'm talking about the fries—we're done for. Plenty of restaurants can serve decent food, so if anyone orders one of the salads, pay attention to the fries and the "salad" part of the salad. It's a shame, but alas.

The food at Willaerts is fine, but relies heavily on haute cuisine-style portions. A salmon steak with a single head of bimi and a small handful of noodles isn't nearly enough to justify the price of 28 euros. In terms of taste, it's otherwise a typical experience of Dutch-inspired cuisine—the teriyaki sauce was mostly sweet, the salmon slightly overcooked, and the whole thing could have used a bit more salt (or, in this case, soy sauce). The various spritz variations are a nice idea, but they mostly contained ice cream and very little liquor. The food wasn't bad, but for what we got, the price should have been half as much. The service was otherwise good. One dish fell through the cracks due to a miscommunication in the kitchen, which meant it took a bit longer to arrive. The wait was a maximum of 10 minutes, but the dish was removed from the bill as an apology. What I really find disappointing, however, is the wall covering in the men's restroom. Why on earth does a grand café named after a painter have a print of a man surrounded by scantily clad women hanging in the restroom?

Nice place on the water, friendly staff and excellent menu

We had a wonderful meal here on my birthday. We arrived and were immediately shown to our table. Once we were seated, it took a while for me to be helped (we weren't in a hurry, but it did take a while). Otherwise, the food was excellent. The chicken thigh was a bit greasy, but that's just my personal opinion. I did mention this, and she apologized politely. We were asked about dessert later, but we didn't feel the need for it. Since we didn't like the chicken satay, my boyfriend and I both received free coffee. Very polite, in my opinion. A great place to stop by!

We've been here before. It's a lovely spot on the water with a view of Dordrecht and passing boats and ships. The water bus stops right in front of the terrace. We were able to order drinks quickly, and they were served promptly by friendly staff. After waiting a while, we asked if we could also order food. Then we were asked if we wanted the menu. This time we chose the drinks platter. You can choose five from 14 appetizers. We asked if this was enough for three people, but she wasn't sure. In the end, it was enough (especially because of the size of the truffle fries). Otherwise, we would have simply ordered more. It tasted very good. The sticky chicken is especially recommended.

Willaert – culinary delights on the Merwede What a wonderful evening we had! We enjoyed the beautiful view of the Merwede and ate delicious mussels, which were prepared wonderfully, off the menu. The service was quick, alert, and attentive; they even asked if we wanted a blanket, and we could always move inside if it got chilly. Highly recommended!

The food here is always delicious. I ate here tonight; soup, beef tataki, carpaccio, and a main course of rump steak. The chef's dessert was the finishing touch.

Poor service. After arriving, I ordered a drink and immediately asked for a card, but it never arrived. After 45 minutes, I paid and told them we'd asked for the card over half an hour earlier, but it hadn't arrived. It was a real shame, the staff were incompetent. They had no idea who else wanted a drink or a meal on the terrace. It's a shame for such a beautiful location.

One downside was the toilet. I use a walker and couldn't get down the stairs because there wasn't a proper handrail. I had to go around the back door to reach the toilet. It was between the crates of empty bottles.

The staff at this restaurant are gems. Friendly, attentive, and dedicated. The food and drinks are also delicious (the virgin mixes are also delicious and I highly recommend them).

8.50 for half a glass of wine (Siraz). This honestly spoiled the fun a bit. The food was really good and the atmosphere was nice. I asked the waitress to at least fill the glass to the middle of the bowl (she's worked in hospitality for years). The girl said she'd be scolded by her boss. Disgraceful. The service was friendly, but the wine pouring was truly ridiculous.

We called to book dinner, and that was fine. The lady on the phone said we didn't need a reservation. Once inside, we weren't helped; we were told to go outside. Once outside, we weren't helped because we didn't have a reservation. We had to go back inside, were asked to sit down, and then weren't spoken to again. This time, we went to a restaurant with friendly staff who understand their restaurant.

Went for lunch last week and ordered a sharing platter for €49, which includes five dishes. The price-to-performance ratio is definitely not worth it, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The service is very friendly, but perhaps they should check in with their guests more often to see if they need anything.

As we've come to expect from this entrepreneur, it's a beautiful establishment with a lovely terrace and excellent service. The schnitzel, as mentioned in previous reviews, is fried without any garnish. However, the drink prices are completely out of proportion. Firstly, the prices on the menu don't match the actual bill. Affligem Blond is listed for €6.50 and is charged at €7.00, while Texel Wit is listed for €7.00 and is charged at €7.50. These prices are simply absurd for a specialty beer (how special is Affligem Blond anyway?).

We dachten leuk aan t water.. Ja mooi terras.. Maar voor ons eenmalig. Erg duur en niets bijzonders.. Ook krenterige porties..frites, dessert.. Kogelbiefstuk helemaal niet heerlijk en van binnen een rauw stuk. Bediening heel jong en tikkie omhooggevallen houding. Geen erg welkom gevoel. (1 echte aardige jongen, die spontaan bij t 2e biertje brengen zei, ja u vond m dus ook lekker??) Btw tapje voor 7,50 ? Nee voel me gewoon bedonderd..

Beautiful location. Very expensive though

We recently had dinner at Grand Café Willaerts. The atmosphere was very good and the restaurant looks beautiful – atmospheric and neatly maintained. Regarding the food: the schnitzel was okay, nothing special and a bit on the small side. There was also nothing else on the plate, which made it a bit bare. The rib fingers on the other hand were really delicious – perfectly prepared, full of flavour and definitely recommended. The service was friendly and the food was served quickly. However, they are quite strict about leaving your coat on when entering – coats on chairs are not allowed. We understand from an aesthetic point of view, but it feels a bit obligatory. For dessert we had the Grand Dessert, which included a little bit of crème brûlée, chocolate mousse, iced coffee, mocha ice cream and strawberries. Delicious and varied! All in all a nice experience with a few minor reservations. The manager does not seem very hospitable, the girls from the service are. But we will definitely come back – if only for those delicious rib fingers.

The mention of it being wheelchair accessible is incorrect. The disabled toilet is outside, via the supplier entrance and then just a ‘few steps’. Really very nice if you can’t walk. Not good!

I find the food incredibly tasty, the portions were fine and everything was very tasty. I was quite shocked by the prices. One glass of rose and one glass of red wine (cheapest) and a delicious platter with 5 dishes for 2 eventually amounted to €75,- including tip. For a lunch! Whereby it must be said that it was a fine lunch, but not an excess of food. The service was fine, even on a fairly busy afternoon there was enough attention and time for us. The atmosphere on the terrace was pleasant, the nice weather worked on me there.

Willaerts is voor ons al jaren een vaste plek om lekker te eten én bijzondere momenten te vieren, zoals verjaardagen met de familie. De kwaliteit van het eten is altijd top, de sfeer ontspannen en stijlvol, en de bediening vriendelijk en attent. Een echte aanrader is de steak tartaar die aan tafel wordt bereid – een leuke en smakelijke touch die het diner nét dat beetje extra geeft. Ook het terras aan het water is fantastisch: op zonnige dagen is het een heerlijke plek om te zitten, met een prachtig uitzicht en een ontspannen vibe. Of je nu komt voor een etentje met z’n tweeën of een groter gezelschap, bij Willaerts zit je altijd goed. Een restaurant waar we steeds weer graag terugkomen. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Willaerts offers an atmospheric dining experience with professional and friendly service. Reservations are recommended. The food is tasty, but the portions are too small for the price in my opinion. I would prefer to see the portions slightly larger for the same amount. If that is not possible, consider a slight price increase in combination with generous portions, or give guests a choice of different portion sizes.

Teleurstelling op teleurstelling, heel jammer is dit, komt het omdat het een doordeweekse avond is of gaat het er altijd zo aan toe. Klachten over het eten met als antwoord, we zullen er de volgende x op letten. Je verwacht dat iedereen een biefstukje kan bakken hoe moelijk kan het zijn. 192,00 ( 2 pers. ) euro armer en het was een aanfluiting. Dessert dreef in de saus. Heel jammer..Meer van verwacht.

What a disappointment, starter fish palette is very little but okay, that's what you think, complaint about meat not prepared as requested and very tough, is dismissed as we will pay attention to it next time. Simple fries probably fried 3 times, how difficult can it be. Dessert was floating in the accompanying sauce. Very unfortunate, it was a real disappointment.

I ordered the fish and chips, but it seemed like they forgot to actually squeeze any fish between the breadcrumbs — mostly just crunchy coating with barely any fish inside. Bit of a letdown on that front. On the bright side, the lager was the star of the show — easily the best thing there.

Wat een slecht personeel, we bestelde een fles wijn, de glazen maar ook de wijn werden zo arrogant ingeschonken de man die dat deed was super chagrijnig, er liep 1 meisje rond die volgens mij ziek/verkouden was dat was de enige die vrolijk en vriendelijk was. Eten verder prima, maar dat personeel, super slecht 3 jaar geleden de zelfde ervaring gehad en dachten dat het nu beter zou zijn maar nee. Voor ons nooit meer.

A bit younger but friendly and with a smile that I missed from the rest. The food and drinks were tasty and well presented. After my almost 80 year old father left, he fell off the step. In addition, none of the staff came to him while the entire restaurant was watching and silent. Fortunately, it ended well and he suffered nothing permanent from it. The next day, his wife sent an email to the restaurant asking if they would ensure that the step was more clearly visible to people. Something lit and a comic maybe. Unfortunately, we have not received any response from the restaurant. To be honest, I find this very rude, disappointing and not appropriate for a business with this allure. And does this mean that I will not come here again and will certainly not recommend it to friends, family and acquaintances.

Nicely decorated place, maybe a bit too nice because we were asked not to hang our coats over the chairs. Furthermore, the exorbitant beer prices immediately turned us off and the shitty music was a bit too loud. Still two stars because of the beautiful view of Dordrecht.

Staff not customer friendly, they roll their eyes and they speak to you not customer friendly. Food is overpriced for what you get. We also had to wait a very long time for our food. Tip: check your receipt carefully because food is assessed twice.

Eten was uitstekend, bediening nog veel te leren. Geen aandacht, ongeïnteresseerd en luidruchtig gedrag en bij vertrek geen gevoel van dat er iets met onze klachten werd gedaan. Ons ongenoegen op de reviews gezet. Schetst onze verbazing dat een paar dagen later ik gebeld werd door de floormanager, een dame die het duidelijk goed begrijpt en het oppakt. Geen slap verhaal maar gemeende excuses en goede eerlijke uitleg waardoor dit helaas voorkomt. Ik begrijp uit haar verhaal en door eigen ervaring dat zij wellicht nog met wat anderen, de enigen zijn die echt voor dit vak geboren zijn. De jonge en ervaren mensen die daar, bij gebrek aan beter, rondlopen, hebben (nog) geen idee hoe het hoort en wat er van ze verwacht wordt. De aangeboden lunch wordt erg gewaardeerd, beter hoop ik dat het haar lukt om echte horeca toppers van hun te maken!

We posted our dissatisfaction on the reviews. Our surprise is that a few days later I received a call from the floor manager, a lady who clearly understands it well and picks it up. No weak story, but sincere apologies and good, honest explanations, which unfortunately prevents this from happening. I understand from her story and from my own experience that she and some others are perhaps the only ones who were really born for this profession. The young and experienced people who walk around there, for lack of anything better, have (yet) no idea what it should be like and what is expected of them. The lunch offered is much appreciated, I hope she succeeds in turning them into real catering toppers!

We come here very often and always received good service, but the last time I was asked if my friend wanted to take off his hat, that was never asked the previous times. When we asked what the reason was, they immediately came with the bill and we were almost I'll never come here again as if I were sent away

The fish palette (25 euros) was a bit on the small side. You think a meal for that price, just think of it as an appetizer. The quality was excellent. We had to send the Irish coffees back. Were served lukewarm. It was resolved neatly, which can happen in these busy times. The service was very young, but that didn't make it worse. Polite, neat serving, friendly, good service. The bill of 200 was a bit expensive for a lunch with all the trimmings, but of course you are responsible for that. It was pleasant and the staff was polite, that's what it's all about. Nice to have eaten once.

Tja... Mijn eerste ervaring was wel teleurstellend.. Nog nooit ergens zo'n karige club sandwich geserveerd gekregen. Brood was gewoon voorgesneden een boterham (zoals in supermarkt) en leek niet eens dagvers. De kip was eroverheen gevlogen (oftewel je moest zoeken naar de kip). En de bediening leek niet met plezier te werken. Op de dame met roodachtig haar na, zij was vriendelijk en attent. Wel mooi ingericht, nu nog even een tandje bij zetten! Voor mij niet voor herhaling vatbaar, helaas!
