Willy Noord Strandpaviljoen in Landelijk gebied Katwijk

Normally, I am not someone who immediately writes a bad review after an unpleasant experience. But I did give my experience at Willy Noord last weekend some thought, and I would like to share it. I was delayed a bit due to a closed road to Katwijk. My girlfriend was already sitting on the terrace and had already ordered a glass of wine for me. I arrived with two children and our dog. One of the children needed to pee and ran inside, after which our dog unfortunately ran after her. That was absolutely not the intention. I immediately went after her to catch her and resolve the situation. I fully understand that a staff member might say: “The dog is not allowed inside.” That is perfectly fine, I get that. But the way this staff member lashed out at me, in front of my children, was something I really did not like. He was shouting through the restaurant, and I spoke to him about it: you are of course allowed to say something about it, but it can also be done in a normal way. After all, it was clear that I was trying to resolve the situation immediately. I then walked back to my table with the dog. For me, that was the end of it. To my surprise, the employee came after me to tap his finger on the house rules on the door again, quite disparagingly, to point out to me that dogs are not allowed inside. I indicated once again that it was absolutely not my intention for the dog to run inside and that I had just arrived. Then I was also told: “You haven't just arrived at all, because your wine is already there.” With that, I was accused of lying as well, even though my girlfriend, who was already sitting at the table, had ordered that wine for me. To be honest, that was the last straw. The rule that dogs are not allowed inside is perfectly clear to me. It is the way you are addressed as a customer that matters to me. Especially when you are trying to resolve an unintended situation yourself, I simply expect normal and friendly communication. If you are considering going to a beach bar with your dog, I would not choose Willy Noord based on this experience. It is a shame, because the location is of course beautiful.

Beautiful location and very cozy, not too expensive.

Basic beach pavilion, had a good lunch.

The seating area is very pleasant, and the food was really good. While the outdoor ambiance wasn't exceptional for a beach pavilion, the cuisine was better than most. If you absolutely want to eat on the beach, this is the place to go.

You can get a delicious cup of coffee, and the cakes are delicious too. Outside, there is also a fun slide for the kids.

Closed promptly at 9 pm on solar eclipse night—a shame, so we weren't allowed to order drinks. But the manager became truly rude when we were NOW forced to leave HIS old, dirty picnic tables (we were watching the sunset for just a moment), which are standing well outside the tent on the sand. Why? This owner understands nothing about hospitality and treating potential customers nicely.

Discovered this place since I moved to Katwijk Noord and unfortunately broke my knee. The nice concrete path by the beach bar took me further onto the beach than all the other beach bars in the area. There is all sorts of equipment for rent at the beach bar: beach wheelchairs, windbreaks, parasols, and sunbeds – really very handy. Next to the beach bar is an extra toilet building that is easily accessible to beachgoers; it is very nice that you don't have to go through the restaurant. The food at the beach bar itself is delicious, and we have already had lunch and dinner there several times. Great!

Nice cold beer, friendly service, decent food, and wonderfully quiet. Not a trendy spot with music that's too loud over your plate. Great!

If you want a quiet day at the beach, this is a real must. Ample parking is available for €1.90 per hour with a maximum of €10.20 per day; it is within walking distance of the beautiful, clean, and quiet beach. Take a break in between and enjoy a delicious bite to eat at Willy Noord. Very friendly staff and a good menu in multiple languages; highly recommended! Prices are reasonable, the food is excellent, and the service is very fast and it is very clean; even the toilets are very clean!

Had a delicious meal twice, good value for money, friendly staff, would love to come back again.

The food was very good, no complaints there. But after we ate and wanted to pay, the trouble started. Bill was 31€, i was content with the service so wanted to give 35€ and pay by card. My first card wasnt accepted. 'No payment with Credit Card possible, we only accept debit'. That's absolutely okay, not usual, but it happens. Then, both my debit card as well as the debit card of my partner were declined too. We never carry much cash on us, so they demanded that we walk 1.5km to the nearest ATM and then back, to get some cash. I think this is pretty much unacceptable, as it isn't listed anywhere (Only Debit) and it shouldn't be our problem if their card readers malfunction. In the end, we managed to pay through a bank transfer (where we still have to carry the additional transfer fees etc.). It left a sour taste behind. But everyone was very civil throughout the whole process, so i think 3 stars are still fair (and the food was good!)

Had a delicious meal, steak perfectly grilled. Ordered tasty grilled green asparagus on the side. Perfect. The service is friendly and attentive.

It is a very beautiful spot by the outflow (very often seals there, now too). The staff keep a close eye on everything, helped quickly and were above all very friendly, really top-notch!

This is a great location if you have something to celebrate, and that applies to all ages. Tasty buffet and excellent service.

It was a cozy beach bar Food and drinks were good

Friendly service, fine fish stew, and plenty of fries. With the fried cod, there was no salad on the plate. It looked very bare. We also wanted a carafe of water with our drinks order, but unfortunately, that was not served. So, we ended up with a bottle of water. I understand that the hospitality industry wants to make a profit, but surely a carafe of water is a service when there is also a drinks order? At our colleague establishment Wantveld, that wasn't a problem.

Fine place to sit back and enjoy a drink. But it lacks a bit of a holiday atmosphere or the real beach vibe feeling.

Nice, tidy staff and beach bar despite the less-than-good weather, tasty food, spacious layout, will definitely come again.

Beautiful pavilion, sheltered outdoor area, tastefully furnished interior. Perfect for stopping in after a walk on the beach, or simply going there to enjoy the sunshine....

Excellent food & an amazing view awaits. The seal beach is only around the bend. The staff is helpful, friendly & attentive. It’s also convenient for parents with children as there is a playground right next to the restaurant with pick-nick tables available too. A lovely place to rest after a long walk on the beach.

The price is good, but the atmosphere and interior are not comparable to the beach clubs in Noordwijk.

A good place for a sunset dinner with a sea view. The place is cozy. The interior decor is beautiful. The tables are well-spaced. The cuisine is local. I'm not usually a fan of Danish cuisine, but this was good. I had chicken. The bathrooms were clean. Excellent service. I think I'll be back.

We stumbled upon this place by chance and were surprised by the variety of vegan options, and that they were even listed directly on the menu. Great! The vegan oyster mushroom carpaccio bread was delicious. The cappuccino was available with oat milk, but unfortunately, there was an extra charge. The pancake (not vegan) was also delicious! We sat on the terrace with our dog. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside. The service was super friendly and quick. We'd love to come back :)

We had a wonderful meal and were seated comfortably. Friendly service. Until we left, we couldn't even say goodbye, haha. Maybe we should have left a tip.

An incredibly beautiful spot to enjoy your vacation. The houses have been completely renovated this year. There's a combined living room and kitchen with direct access to the beach garden. A small bedroom with two beds, another with a 1.4m bed, a shower room, and the bunk bed can be converted into a bed for two more people. This was our fifth time here, and we'll definitely be back. The rental service is top-notch; you can truly unwind, jump into the North Sea, or walk along the promenade to the small town in about 20 minutes. There are four charging stations for electric cars in the parking lot behind the dunes, a skate park for young people, and plenty of opportunities for hiking and walking. Cycling is also fantastic. Leiden, The Hague, and Amsterdam are all easily accessible. It's a perfect place in a superb location. We highly recommend it!

A friendly birthday was celebrated with a delicious hot buffet. Well-prepared and delicious.

Excellent lunch and friendly service. The terrace isn't very large, and all the tables are screened off and covered with translucent corrugated plastic sheets. This makes it quite warm on summer days. No fresh air or breeze.

Excellent, very fast, and friendly service. Great atmosphere! The four of us had kibbeling. Twice the children's version and twice the regular. One was a shame, because the portions were practically the same, but the regular was 10 euros more expensive. And it was a shame that we thought the kibbeling came from the factory freezer. Not freshly cooked, anyway. A shame for a beach bar in Kattek.

A nice-looking beach bar, clean and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and the food was good. The beach huts are also highly recommended (we stayed in them last week). In short, we'd love to come back.

In short: not good, not worth it. The burger was an absolute disaster. The meat wasn't cooked, I suspect it was deep-fried. It was some kind of pressed, dry stuff. The fries were so dark and dry. Nuggets and kibbeling were just as bad. Several times, they didn't ask for new drinks even though they were empty or the food was coming. When new drinks were served, the old glasses were left on the table. Definitely too expensive for the quality and service! (1 burger with fries €18) 🤷‍♂️

We eat here almost every year, including last night. It is a really nice beach bar. You always feel welcome at the owner's who runs the place with his wife and children. Beautifully situated at the mouth of the Oude Rijn. They work hard in the kitchen and the result is always great. Until next time!

Very nice beach restaurant. Friendly staff, good prices, dog friendly. I enjoyed a delicious fish salad with smoked trout, salmon and lots of shrimp.

Beautiful beach pavilion, the staff are really friendly, polite, and attentive. The food is very good, and the Texels on tap is highly recommended. We've been there several times now and have always been satisfied. Some of the staff in the immediate vicinity could learn a thing or two from their friendliness.

A King's Day you will never forget at Beach Pavilion Willy Noord in Katwijk! Tonight we celebrated King's Day with a group of nine people at the always attractive Beach Pavilion Willy Noord in Katwijk. What a wonderful experience this was from start to finish! We had chosen an extensive three-course menu and everything tasted fantastic. Every dish was freshly prepared, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. From the tasty starters to the refined main courses and the delicious desserts – you could taste the attention and love for the profession everywhere. The price-quality ratio here is really great; you get a full-fledged culinary experience without breaking the bank. What made this evening extra special was the excellent hospitality. From the moment we entered we were warmly welcomed. The atmosphere was relaxed and warm, just how you would like it during a pleasant evening by the sea. The young, enthusiastic waitressing lady deserves a special mention: she radiated pleasure in her work, was incredibly friendly, had an eye for detail and ensured that we lacked nothing. You don't find such sincere and personal service anywhere anymore! The location should also not go unmentioned: right on the beach, with the sound of the waves in the background and a beautiful sunset as a backdrop. It just doesn't get any better. In short: Beach Pavilion Willy Noord gave us a fantastic evening on King's Day. Delicious dishes, fair prices, great service and a casual atmosphere: we will definitely come back here again. An absolute must for those looking for a culinary evening out in Katwijk - whether you come as a couple or with a whole group like us. 5 stars – well deserved!

Willynoord is a beautiful, quiet beach bar with tasty and affordable drinks & food. Last week I covered 13 Texels together with two friends on a sunny day.

Well seated...partitions also nice. Tasty snacks, great bouncer... Heineken Fluitje... good beer, all good. Friendly attentive service 💯

The Willy Noord Strandpaviljoen is a beautifully designed beach bar located in Katwijk aan Zee. It offers plenty of space and a lovely view of the sea. The food and drinks are both delicious and reasonably priced. For the little ones, there’s a small climbing frame – and of course, there’s sand everywhere! It’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beach atmosphere.

Great beach bar to enjoy. Friendly service, good location and… a number of vegan options including chocolate cake (tried) and an oyster mushroom carpaccio sandwich. We will come back for that again because I am very curious about that.

Delicious food and friendly service staff

Gisteren met vier personen geluncht. De keuze viel op 2x Vissalade en 2x Kibbeling met daarbij de Pinot Grigio. De Pinot was heerlijk en de Vissalade was eveneens heerlijk en voldoende. Wat betreft de Kibbeling? De bijlagen waren goed, echter de Kibbeling leek wel op te hard gefrituurde flauwe blokjes vis van Kaptein Iglo!!!!! Dit zou je niet verwachten van een plaats gelegen aan de Noordzee. Geen aanrader dus! Voor de rest was de bediening heel vriendelijk en attent.

Unfortunately, there is no alternative to cow's milk in coffee. No soy/oats etc. Not very service-oriented for people with allergies such as cow's milk allergy.

I understand that fishing boats no longer land here. But seriously: you really can't serve frozen kibbeling in Katwijk. Even the bickering of the AH is even better than this captain igloo misery.

Of course you can't say anything about the ambience - beach bar with sunset is great. Food tastes very good! But the portions are far too small and simply too expensive for these PRICES… for me “personally” it’s borderline outrageous!

Hamburger with fries and salad. Fries had been reheated for the second time and the salad was so dominated by the sauce that the salad ingredients could no longer be tasted. You had to bring in staff only concerned with the order they are currently working on. Atmosphere wasn't special either. We didn't want dessert or coffee anymore. Many development points. Current rating is heavily overrated. I won't be coming back here anytime soon.

Nicely located on the beach. Very attentive and friendly staff. Food was delicious, especially the sandwich with spicy chicken. Good selection of drinks, from iced coffee to cocktails. Unfortunately no credit card payment is possible and not all German EC cards work. So bring cash and deduct a point for service.

Hier 8x een huisje gehuurd. Laatste paar keren dacht ik al: waarom kom ik hier eigenlijk nog. Overpriced huisje, beetje aftands. Valt nog overheen te komen. Maar met die eigenaar ben ik echt helemaal klaar. Onvriendelijk, nors, kijkt je niet aan dus denk autist, voelde me totaal niet welkom. Nee ga voortaan lekker naar t Wantveld. Veel leuker en vriendelijker daar!

All prices along the beach are quite high, this one was in between. However, a very good atmosphere and nice, enthusiastic service. Food was top quality.

If you find the price/quantity ratio important, you've come to the right place. Tasty large portions and cheaper than really on the other side of the drainage towards the boulevard.

Such a bad treatment. I got kicked out cause I was on the phone. I didn't scream or what, was just on the phone, while the restaurant was empty. The manager kicked me out cause he sad he could not hear the (very few) clients speaking to him. Bad experience. Won't go back. Not even a smile when you enter. He was basically probably moody

Waardeloze tent, hele nare eigenaar, durft je niet eens aan te kijken als je een klacht hebt. Kwamen hier zeer regelmatig, nu even drankje doen, glaasje wijn, twee cm., maak je een opmerking hierover, nou dat mag niet, meneer zegt dit is een normale hoeveelheid, hier is dus duidelijk het glas niet half vol, maar half leeg. Hier komen we nooit meer!!!
