Wing Kee in Burgwallen-Oude Zijde

I'm Japanese. Since I was on my 2024 spring tour and didn't have much time, I checked this restaurant beforehand and ordered nasi goreng (shrimp) and wonton soup. But both amounts are enough for 2 adults! Both the Thai rice and the soup in Nasi Goreng have no taste! That's 35 euros! 😭 1 euro 170 yen really makes me cry! In the Netherlands, you can never go wrong with Chinese food, but this is not the place to choose! The atmosphere and service are the worst I've ever eaten in Holland. Let's take out from the fast food or supermarket inside the station.

I had dinner here with my girlfriend. I hadn't been there for at least 1 year. When we entered there was hardly anyone there. We ordered a beef stew and tja-siu with Peking duck. Everything was too salty and oily. Peking duck was not crispy and was drizzled with thick gravy. Even the white rice was still hard on the inside. Sorry I will never go here again!!

Tastebuds will be satisfied when you have been to Hongkong Soy chicken was spot on and the classic Cantonese sauce even better. The star anise really comes thru. Char shiew came pretty close to the traditional street food kitchen. Reasonable prices considering how hard it is to find authentic asian restaurants that didn't adapt to the European taste pallet. I read in some other comments that the flight attendants of Singapore airlines come to eat here. That seems to be a good indicator as well.

Sometimes I like to light-heartedly tease people about traveling to the other side of the planet just to eat food you can get at home. For whatever reason this trip might be the first time I really missed home-cooking/comfort food for once. My wife and I ordered their 2 meat platter of your choice (which comes with rice), a small wonton soup, and beef chow fun. I’m personally VERY picky when it comes to beef chow fun. Before I took a bite of anything else, I had a bite of the chow fun first and was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious (though a bit bland for my taste — personally). The smell of wok hei coming off the dish was very reassuring. The onions had seared spots, so I knew this chef knew what he was doing. For the 2 meats, we ordered siu yuk (crispy pork belly) and char siu (BBQ pork). Both were equally good, but I thought the siu yuk was a little better. The braising liquid/juices it comes with really enhances everything. Excellent with rice. Wonton soup was light and very delicate. The wonton was good, though nothing special. Perfect for the weather. Honestly the meal really hit the spot for my wife and I. We’ve had better at home, but Wing Kee is the real deal for Cantonese cooking and will guarantee to scratch that itch for home cooking. ALSO: the chili oil they have at the table is pretty spicy!! a must try for hot heads like me!

From Singapore and already into our 2nd week in Europe. This restaurant is good, and authentic. We miss our Asian food tremendously. Was here for lunch yesterday. Back for lunch again today.

This is not a star restaurant with romantic candles and background music. But a place where you can eat something tasty and quick without any fuss and for a reasonable price. Definitely a place to return again.

It’s extremely delicious. I’ve never had anything better than this in China. I came to Ammu for two meals and four cups of Hong Kong milk in two and a half days. The beef brisket pot is particularly delicious, the tendons are soft and tasty, and the brisket is very tender. The pho is very authentic and has a national flavor, the beef rice with smooth egg is also delicious, the roasted pork is invincible, the rose oil chicken is especially delicious, the skin is crispy and the meat is tender and juicy. The boss is very nice, the service is very good, and he also reminded us that we have more dishes to order. The atmosphere in the restaurant was so special that I returned to my country in a second.

It’s a very authentic Hong Kong style restaurant, great aroma and flavor. It feels just like being back in Hong Kong.

The double set rice is really delicious and big. The frozen lemon tea is also highly recommended. It is recommended to order a cup to drink with it (because it is a bit salty) The small drawback is that the clerk feels very busy and the service is not good. But I still think this store is great! !

This is the second time I've been here. I have to say I've visited various Peking duck restaurants in Amsterdam but this one is by far the best. Everything tastes super fresh, super tender, nice and warm, delicious and juicy and very quick at the table. We hardly had to wait for our food to arrive, even though the restaurant was almost full. If I come back to Amsterdam, which I don't rule out, I will definitely go here again. I can highly recommend this restaurant, the price-performance ratio is very good.

Takeaway Char Siu. Decent portion, well flavored and authentic. We had 4 different dishes and in all dishes the meat was (refrigerator) cold... Quite well priced, but that will undoubtedly have to do with the location of the restaurant

I have eaten at Rong Kee too many times, and overall it is good quality and reasonably priced. The roast duck and beef offal are both excellent, and it’s really worth coming back!

I ordered a double combination of duck and pork, and a stir-fried water spinach. The price of water spinach is slightly higher than that of meat, but it tastes like the taste of my hometown. I also ordered an iced milk tea, which I don’t recommend. It tasted like creamer aftertaste. The aunt and uncle in the store are very nice people. They are not overly enthusiastic but not arrogant. They also warned me that if I order too much, I won't be able to finish the food. My uncle saw that I couldn't open the door and opened it for me. The portion of the food was quite large, so I spent extra money to take away the uneaten portion. When the lady at the hotel front desk helped me heat the food the next day, she asked me where I bought it. It smelled very fragrant and was delicious.

The food here is simple. Just eat and go for a walk in the streets. On the table set with sauces, salt and pepper was dirty and with dust, but maybe it’s Saturday and waiters are tired.

Insanely good food. Quality is awesome and portions are of great size. Great options to share with friends and family and that for a very kind price. Staff is polite, kind and patient and provides accurate information regarding allergens. Questions are answered swiftly and with confidence. Definitely a must visit!

“ok” Chinese food for Amsterdam. Quite expensive. We ordered the crispy pork and sweet pork with rice and a wonton noodle soup. Food: The crispy pork and sweet pork was pretty good. The crispy pork tasted the most authentic; you get the moist meat and crispy crunch. The sweet pork was also pretty close. The rice was a bit hard as if it was left out for too long or reheated from fridge. The lettuce is not Chinese lettuce. The wonton noodle soup was not good please avoid. (except the soup was ok). The wontons were chewy; like fake. You only get 4 small pieces of wonton. The choice of vegetables was ice-berg lettuce and not Chinese lettuce which is so wrong. Service: The staff speaks Mandarin & Cantonese and of course English. I spoke in Cantonese and the staff was quite nice.

super authentic as a child I was in Guangzhou and Hong Kong where I spent a lot of summer holidays there The restaurant here is just like a time machine back to the 80s and 90s, just enjoy the best time in China!

I ate at Nan Kee last time I came to Amsterdam, so let’s try Rong Kee this time! I ordered beef offal and roasted meat as a combo, plus stir-fried beef river and fried dumplings... The beef offal is the most decent I have ever eaten in Europe. As for the roasted pork belly and roasted duck, it tastes like Hong Kong. It is worth praising, especially the sauce. It is so delicious that I can finish a big bowl of white rice!

Located in Amsterdam Chinatown & also the Red Light District. Wing Kee is by far the most decent Asian restaurant. We found it quite authentic as compared to some Asian restaurant in Europe. We went there on a Saturday night, place was quite packed. No reservations, it is first come first served. We were more surprised when the staff were speaking Cantonese! We waited for about 15 mins before we got a table. This is a no frill restaurant, menu was pretty decent. We spoke to the server, Wing Kee has been in business over 40 years by the same owner. We ordered the 3 meat plate, stir fry greens, stuff tofu with sauce & a wonton soup. With white rice. Everything was good & delicious, the soup for the wanton wasn’t salty, soup was actually flavourful. The sauce that came with the 3 meat was good to put on rice. The stuffed tofu with sauce was very good. The setting in the restaurant is simple, like I said… no frills, just decent Cantonese food which is a rare find in any European cities.

The ceiling of Cantonese cuisine in my mind is the best Hong Kong-style tea restaurant I have eaten in these days. The rose soy sauce chicken is tender and juicy, and the barbecued pork is very juicy. The service is very polite. I will come again.

Used to come here often with my husband. Also often for the whole duck of 42 euros. And in the waiting line, Chinese customers kept being pulled in front of us. Even a Chinese customer told that rude woman that we were waiting too. She told them to wait, while we had been waiting for a long time. Were completely ignored. So we walked away angry and lost two good regular customers again! There were other and better Chinese restaurants in the seawall.

Even though NiewMarkt Amsterdam has many Chinese restaurants, Wing Kee is my favorite one. This restaurant is the real OG style of Hong Kong vibes, not only in its decoration but also in the staff uniforms that we always saw in Chinese restaurants when we were young. The roasted duck skin is exceptional, and other menu items provide comfort food reminiscent of home. Additionally, the lemon tea pairs nicely with the food. In my opinion: I think duck skin tastes better in the dinner time. I tried it once at noon, and it seemed that the skin hadn't reached that level of crispy yet. But it’s always nice tho. 🦆

Gem on the Zeedijk with delicious Chinese food. Cha sieuw, soy chicken, Peking duck and nasi are recommended. The beef soup is also tasty. It is often very busy so you may have to wait. But it's more than worth it. Management is often busy. They are fast and friendly.

Even Wing Kee has ridden the crest of the wave of tourism, where there is plenty of money to be made. Where you used to get a plate of delicious food for around €15, you now pay €20 for five (!) tiny pieces of fried spare rib (without vegetables or anything). Bah.

Love this restaurant which is a reminiscence of similar restaurants in Hong Kong in the 1970s. This probably tells a lot about the history of the operators. The menu, the decorations and even the outfit of the waiters looked exactly like what I saw in my home city ​​when I was small. It is more than just a dining experience. If you are from Hong Kong, remember to order a cup of frozen lemon tea, as it is the most delicious cup for Europeans!

I didn’t think about taking pictures until I finished eating. The roast duck tastes good, with cabbage underneath. The spicy beef is not spicy but super spicy, so order with caution. I didn’t expect that prices in the Netherlands are so expensive, much more expensive than Chinese restaurants in Paris, and they don’t accept cards, only cash.

The decoration, clothing, and dishes all have a very retro feel.... The waiters are very busy, and one of them, an aunt with short hair and glasses, is always smiling and friendly. Like stepping into an old hong kong diner from the late 90s! Decor looks a little dated but adds to the charm, including the vests on white shirts by the waitresses. Food was fantastic. We came in and ordered nr.11 for 3 types of meat and it was amazing. The roast duck was melt in your mouth crispy and roast pork was crispy but firm to the bite. Get these 2 instead in a combination(nr.8) Also ordered a nr 84. 'Rice sticks' are actually broad rice noodles. The black bean sauce was lovely with a beautiful and very rare burnt aroma (wok hei). They were also generous with the beef . Tea is reasonably priced and the menu is in 3-4 languages. Waitresses also speak english, dutch , cantonese and chinese. Bring cash! Although we did spy the use of a mobile card machine, there are mulitple signs which state no card payment. Come for high tea around 2pm-3.30 if you want to miss the crowds.

We waited for a very long time and being ignored many times. When serving the plates, they were half thrown in front of us. The people behind us got the food first. Food was great though 😄
