A Taste of Szechuan in Bovenkerk - Westwijk Noord

I saw the notice that the restaurant has shutdown, and my heart is actually heavy. Thank you for the most comforting, delicious, timeless food. I will keep the memories of me running to my dad with the takeaway boxes to smell the fried rice through the sheet, and knowing it would be a happy night. It has been my favourite for many years and I wish I could have ordered some tonight or left a review earlier, but I think anyone who enjoyed a meal from the Yuen family knows it deserves more than 5/5 stars.

Really delicious food. The dining atmosphere isn't great, but taking food with you is recommended.

A huge mess on the tables, truly unkempt. It was immediately noticeable that there were no customers there. When I wanted to pay, I had to go to the Albert Heijn to withdraw some cash. That was the last straw for me – I immediately left. Awful business, I don't trust it one bit!

This place deserves higher ratings. Owner is cute and the portions are huge and delicious. Recommend the spicy fried rice and dry deep fried noodle

A nice restaurant with a wide selection of freshly prepared, tasty dishes. The portions are generous. One star less for the payment service. It turned out that payment by card wasn't possible, only cash or through the ing.nl website. There's no information about the lack of card payments (but there's also no information about such an option), which seems strange in this day and age.

I just made nasi myself....hubby just picked up two portions of prawn crackers....Good...I think it's at least a week old, I could almost bend it...How old is the meat, chicken, fish, etc.?...unfortunately...I'll never get any!!!

The food was great, the place was calm and the people are nice.

Really scandalous service. Already experienced 3 times that I ordered via their website, receive an email when it is ready, and when I come, they have not even seen the order so you still have to wait 20 to 25 minutes. Also, you can only pay cash, so you first have to go to the AH to withdraw money. This is no longer service! Really scandalous. I will never go there again.

It just so happens that this place is open until night. We arrived at 9.20 and were still being served. The service was quite fast, and the food was all delicious.

Got food again after a long time. The spring roll special was very crispy on the outside but soft and bland on the inside. Some boiled chicken cubes and lots of bean sprouts. The noodles with chicken fillet and vegetables was also dull and bland in taste. I had to spice everything up at home with salt and garlic and also soy sauce. No, don't pick up here for the time being

Got spring roll and Chinese tomato soup. The soup was too thickly bound and only tasted sweet, spring roll was fried to a crispy layer, but the content inside was super bad (a little bit of boiled small chicken pieces and filled with bean sprouts) and had no taste and was a dry bite. Very bad, waste of money. 3 x soup and 3 x spring roll, cost a total of 36 euros. Sambal was very oily in substance. Never experienced anything like this at a Chinese. January 2025.

Good chinese takeout restaurant. For takeout it always has tasy food for a decent price. Not sure how it is when you go eat there.

the sauce was good but did not like slimy tofu. disappointed as i ordered vegetarian dish number 135 but it had pork and beef in it. inedible and unsuitable for a vegetarian . not worth the 20euros

Food was good and also tasty Service, the older gentleman was always helpful. Ambience is fine, only the cleanliness could be better. Floor covering stuck to the shoes and the foil on tables stuck to the arms through its own structure. On the whole, we left well-fed and yet satisfied. Thank you 🤙

The food tasted quite average. The price of the set meal I ordered showed that it included a portion of tea. Later, the bill showed that drinks were calculated separately. When I asked for an explanation, they said that the overall price had increased. Although the difference was not that much, I felt a little bad that the customer was not informed clearly in advance.

We found this Chinese restaurant by chance and we were delighted we did - it was one of the best Chinese meals we have ever had! We were treated very well by the lovely owner. All the food we had was wonderful, but the duck in plum sauce was particularly delicious. If we had more time in Amsterdam, we would have gone back again.

Been coming here for years. Delicious food. Old gentleman is sometimes a little slower but it's worth the wait.

A restaurant like this is almost a rarity these days! Just delicious Chinese food in the traditional environment of a Chinese as we have traditionally been used to - that hardly exists anywhere anymore. We were looking hard for where you can still get a regular spring roll - and here they are delicious. In practice it is used more for takeaway - people come and go. Not for nothing. Delicious; affordable - and the usual generous Chinese portions instead of a snack that you can hardly see sharing. Recommended, then.

You can call it anything you want, but don’t call it Sichuan food, or don’t call it Chinese food. It’s no exaggeration to say that the Chinese food in the Netherlands has the most rubbish taste. Hong Kong people deliberately say that they are from Hong Kong and not from China. This is a typical slave mentality. Last night I got a combination meal with nasi, 2 skewers of sateh, Ajam Pangang and Foe yong hai with chicken for € 18. Dissapointing. The ajam pangang was not roasted but was in dough with sweet sauce. The Foe Yong was more of a sweet red sauce with some bits of egg in it, so not a nice omelette, and a stray piece of chicken and a lot of sweet sauce. Dissapointing.

Just picked up something quickly. Very annoying that you can't pin!! Shark fin soup and fried rice with shrimp and meat. Soup was cold, nasi very dry. I'll go look for some other Chinese.

Too Expensive and very small portions. Really the worst of all Chinese restaurants in Amstelveen. The food was not really tasty. Once and never again.

Perhaps in the past we have had too much of an abundance of Chinese restaurants and the quality is difficult to judge. Everything was good to eat, but there is little distinction.

I asked for fried rice with vegetables, I got fried rice with pork. Unfortunately we don't eat that. Unfortunately, no compensation, not even paying half the amount to exchange the rice with pork for vegetarian or chicken. Shame. Had to throw it away.

Heerlijk gegeten op de westwijkplein 50. Veel afhaal ook en er is een gemoedelijke sfeer in het restaurant. We nemen een Chinese rijsttafel met heerlijke wantansoep voor Martin en ik heb heerlijke tomatensoep vol met stukjes kip. En dan komen er loempiaatjes en een soort pasteitje. Er worden heel wat gerechten gehaald leuk om te zien. En dan komen er heerlijke geuren uit de pruttelende schalen! Een grote pan rijst erbij. Ja het eten is heel lekker. Mijn zusje Ria had gelijk het is echt één van de betere Chinese restaurants

Good day, We placed an order digitally at 4:37 PM. Assuming everything was ready around 5:30 PM. There was no customer present upon arrival. The order was also not ready yet. In fact, the tablet still had to be started. This also took some time. And then a receipt was issued for the kitchen. So we waited with displeasure for the chair. Everything was ready within five minutes. I found that incomprehensible. Afterwards, when I was home, I understood everything. The food was just cold and we think it had been microwaved or something. The spring rolls were really inedible. No taste, and the flavor we tasted was lemon/ginger-like. Brr.brr. brr. So dirty. Then we started with the satay skewers with peanut sauce. This too had no taste at all. Bland peanut sauce without taste and meat again seems half frozen without any taste. The bamis was also tasteless and let's not even talk about the meat. Sorry we have eaten a lot of Chinese food in our lives, but the garbage bin was good for this food. Shame on you for putting these products on the market. Keep it up and your business could close you down next year. This is also the first time in my life that I have reacted this way after pickup. You cannot present this food to your customers. It's time for the food inspection service to analyze the food. People are going to get food poisoning from this. We googled and found only negative reports about your food. We have joined it.

Bad, very Bad food. Spring rolls not fresh, but tasteless, except a sour taste and cold inside. Sambal is 80% oil and 20% something from sambal. Chicken satay was also cold, indicating it was frozen. We will never get anything here again.

Friendly, not too fast, but good food

They do not participate in ordering online (via their app). If you order online and pick it up at the agreed time, that little gnome looks at you strangely and says: "Yes, it's ready. What did you order? Take a seat, it's ready." If you say to him 10 minutes later, where is my food, isn't it already ready? I received the response: "Yes, it's ready, please sit down." That little guy is soooo rude! Customer friendliness is hard to find with that gnome. Unfortunately, the food is tasty, which is why I sometimes continue to order from them.

22-08-2021 Take away food. Very bad!! 3 minute walk home. Cantonese spring rolls were completely cold! Satay sauce and the noodles didn't taste like anything. Sorry, but never again!

Today I ordered food for more than 80 (!) Euros here, for 7 people... but unfortunately this was disappointing, noodles and nasi taste exactly the same as from a pack from the supermarket, satay tastes okay, but that's it. also... and apart from that, this restaurant does not even have an ATM in 2021.... 2 stars because of the free prawn crackers I received, but for me this was unfortunately the last time I ordered here... very Shame

Threw everything away after 3 bites. It actually started in the case that I was only helped after 6 minutes,......I was the only one! So no attention for the customer. When I wanted to pay and I was ready with my debit card... I couldn't withdraw because it wasn't possible there. Just around the corner and paid in cash. Advice...if there is an alternative...pick up your food elsewhere!

The Nasi Goreng Java was completely dried out, I think it had endured quite a few flying hours in the Sahara. This makes the €14 for fried rice extremely expensive and for me the very last time I come here. This restaurant used to be good, but nowadays you pay too much and the quality is 3x nothing. Highly recommended this restaurant!!

Ours in Waardhuizen closed about 2 or 3 weeks ago, so we tried Westwijk. Overall decent but bland. The pangang meat was very bad. Extremely hard. That's not how you deliver food. A lot of money for mediocre and poor quality. If the pan course was good then a little more than 3 stars.

What poor communication at this restaurant! An order placed online was forgotten. This meant we had to wait almost an hour. The lady behind the counter doesn't understand anything you say to her.
