Very good restaurant, great host, very friendly. With 5 people had a delicious combination of the menu. Rice table with meat, vegetables and Afghan wines. Fantastic experience! Everything comes quickly and freshly steamed or grilled from the kitchen. Delicious!

Were received very friendly, by what later turned out to be the daughter of the owner. Received good advice on what we could best order for a real Afghan meal. We were very pleasantly surprised and the food was excellent. Owner also came to the table for some extra explanation. Was still early so there was time for that too. Nice people, but the food was very disappointing. Rice was not warm and we had the feeling that it was not fresh (the taste). There was also amber flesh in it. Mantoe had lentils that were not fully cooked and unfortunately were not warm either.

Reservation was at 7:00 PM. Waiter came to our table around 7:45 PM to take our order and said it was busy. We did not get what we ordered, as we had ordered rice with chicken, there was no chicken in the rice. The table leg was also broken. We ordered a 2 course dinner, after the privilege it took another 45 minutes before the food was ordered. We had more than half left. There were 12 people, who ordered a 2-course dinner 8 times in total. So the food finally arrived around 8:30 PM even though we had a reservation at 7:00 PM. We passed on the complaint at checkout. To make up for it, the seller gave a 25 euro discount on an amount of 325 euros, of which we had left more than half. Had the worst experience in a restaurant. I wouldn't advise this to anyone. We came to eat here because of the many good reviews, but after our experience here it seems as if all those good reviews are all fake or from their family members/friends. on March 29, 2025 I read the owner's response. To the owner. you know we are right, just don't try to justify it. You should be ashamed to leave such a comment instead of apologizing. 300 euros is certainly too much considering what you fed, be happy that we paid. You're talking about claims for damages... not done because of innocent children... first take a lesson in education and communication. Read your response carefully, as an owner you cannot say something like that. the damage was already there and you know it too. You are trying to humiliate us in your response. You humiliated yourself with your response. If you send another response like this, I will share your responses on the internet so that everyone knows what the owner's behavior is like. It would have been better if you had not left a comment, and still a response than an apology response, but you probably don't know what respect is. We were customers, our complaint is justified. And you know that too... Instead of apologizing, you humiliate yourself in your response...

Gem in the South. Delicious food and compliments to the waiting staff. Tip: skip your lunch at home and save room for dinner because if you choose the rice table you will literally be overloaded with delicious dishes.

What a nice place this is. Great service and the food is just an explosion of flavors really delicious. Our first time eating Afghan food, but certainly not the last! The only criticism is that there was no music. (We noticed towards the end of the evening) otherwise fine!! Thank you and see you soon :)

Afsana in Rotterdam is a great restaurant with delicious food and a beautiful location. The interior is attractive and the staff, including the friendly owner, makes you immediately feel welcome. Highly recommended for delicious Afghan food!!

The food was served late, and the kebab was raw on one side and well done on the other. The prices are very high compared to what you get. One portion seems more intended for a child, given the small amount. The service was very poor: unfriendly and irresponsible. The side dishes that were on the menu were not included, drinking glasses were missing, and the desserts are definitely not recommended. It's outrageous that it's all so expensive. The toilets were completely unusable and unsanitary. The restaurant was overcrowded with guests, while the staff was clearly unable to serve everyone properly.

Very disappointed!!! Too high prices for poor quality and service! Salad, sauce and chatni that were on the menu were missing, and we got regular rice instead of qabeli palaw. Too few check moments! DO NOT ORDER SHIR YAKH! You get two scoops of vanilla and pistachio ice cream as shir yakh. When I complained about this, they reacted very rudely and claimed that it is specially made by machine for them. It should then be clearly stated on the menu that it is not TRADITIONAL Shir Yakh!! Very unfortunate!!

The food is fine, but it is not the real Afghan flavors. We had the vegetarian menu for two people. However, for €40 per person this is not worth it. Contrary to what is indicated on the website, a two-course menu cannot be made without dessert. Foreign. Service is mediocre: well-intentioned, but clumsy. Several things were not recorded or recorded incorrectly. At one point a waiter left his empty tray on our table to serve wine at another table. Hold it or put it on the empty table next to us... It would be three stars if the price-quality ratio were not so difficult to find. Rice with pre-prepared vegetable dishes such as qorme daal, lubyah and sabzie at this price is not worth repeating.

Spontaneously walked into Afsana last night. We are very surprised by the delicious food, the friendly staff and the price-quality ratio. The service was neat and hygienic (pouring water, holding wine glasses with gloves). Definitely recommended!

Delicious food in this beautiful restaurant! We had the Afsana menu for 40 euros per person, you get more than enough food and it was delicious. The grill dishes were perfectly seasoned and the starters were sublime.

We went with 30 people for the birthday of my mom. They decorated the place very lovely. They put special music for us and the food was delicious! Service needs some improvement. What I liked was that the owner took his time to talk with the family. The icecream was also very good. Will come back for the food.👌🏽

Oh boy, what an awful experience!! Disappointing Dining Experience ever in Rotterdam We recently visited Afsana Grill and it became Afsana (Story) of my day, we were thoroughly disappointed with the meal. We ordered set menu for 2 which sounded promising, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. The food arrived lukewarm, and the presentation was unappealing. The flavors were bland and uninspired, with an unbalanced seasoning that overpowered the entire dish. The texture was also off, with some components being overcooked while others were undercooked. To make matters worse, the service was slow and inattentive. For the price point, I expected much better quality and attention to detail. Unfortunately, they failed to deliver. Unless they revamp their menu and improve their service, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Rating: 1/5 stars Price: Overpriced / Poor Quality Food Recommended: No

Been to so many different Afghan restaurants and today all the way from Tilburg to Afsana. Food was nothing 3 times!!!! It was old and raw!!!!

Everyone is still talking about how delicious the food was and how professionally everything was arranged. The catering was easily accessible and was always friendly to us. Had heard good reports about this restaurant. Was a bit disappointing. We had booked a different rice table for 2 people twice. Was combined without being asked, resulting in some dishes being omitted. Service not really friendly service. Besides wine we wanted tap water. Unfortunately no tap water available. Very unfriendly if you also order wine. I've had a better meal at an Afghan before. Definitely won't go back.

When choosing a menu from 2 or 3 gangen it was not mentioned or explained that the desserts is not included in the 2 gangen so after eating we sat to wait , finally asked someone , then he said we choose the 2 gangen and the dessert isn’t involved.it’s was a surprise

Food was tasty. We were well advised on what to take. But the food was served more than 1.5 hours later. It was also draughty, the door was closed upon request, but afterwards it remained open. The food could have been served more neatly. The deserts were given while the table was not yet clean. There was also understaffing.

The food tastes fine, delicious. The service, presentation of the food, and the environment (cold, draughty) were clearly less pleasant. Ultimately you'll spend €40-50 per person if you choose the rice tables.

There was a buffet instead of a la carte, because of Ramadan they indicated and nothing else was possible. Furthermore, we had to wait a long time for an explanation (at their request). Well explained, limited choice, but the taste was good. Several chafing dishes, but dessert (profiteroles and fruit) were not cooled and became wet. The price was not communicated, but we assumed the price of the yums loyalty discount (via The Fork), because this was the reservation and they had a special offer for this. Unfortunately this was not the case and it was 45pp excluding drinks, but I still got the discount.

Disappointing (and) expensive! Selected this restaurant based on the positive reviews on The Fork (almost a 9). The menu looked good online, so I went there with expectations. Upon arrival I was told that there was no regular menu, but a buffet (I had mentioned that on the website), which I find slightly less 'festive' when eating out. The dishes were briefly explained: some were tasty (eggplant), others were a bit ordinary (lentil soup), or disappointing (not crispy baklava). All in all it was decent, but really not what I think matches the high ratings I saw - shame. As for the service, an empty plate was taken away by someone with a whole pile of other empty plates. It was put on the table, some leftovers were moved around to make a new pile - not very festive and not really appropriate for a restaurant, I think. And what was especially inappropriate: the bill. A buffet for two people plus a bottle of water cost almost 100 euros!! The price of the buffet was not specified in advance, so this was a very unpleasant surprise. I don't think the amount itself is a problem if it is really very good, but given the quality of what is on offer, this is downright outrageous.

Way too expensive for what it is: 45! euros for a buffet of very poor quality with cheap ingredients. Some dishes were nice, others disappointing. Frozen spinach, potato dish with little flavor, bread not really fresh, baklava soggy. Really embarrassing.

Without any info on the website they stopped the menu a la carte for an incredibly overpriced buffet all you can eat. Extremely disappointing, I was looking forward to try the place, but definitely not recommended. 50 euro per person ridiculous for the variety and quality of food and for the service!

We were looking forward to eating here partly because of the reviews, but unfortunately we did not like it. There were three of us. The mantoe starter was not bad, but our friend had the sambosa and it was still frozen stiff on the inside. Our main courses were dry rice and the chicken and meat were not bad but not special. We asked if there were any sauces and that was a garlic yoghurt and a green pepper sauce. The strange thing was that we got that for 2 people and only 2 salads even though there were three of us! We received 4 small pieces of bread, but when we asked if we could get more bread for a fee, we were given it right away and we didn't have to pay. We were not at all familiar with this cuisine, so it would have been nice if they had explained something or said that we should perhaps have ordered additional dishes because it is now very dry and bare.

We had no idea what to expect but what a fantastic restaurant. Even your coat was accepted, which doesn't happen often these days. Friendly service who came up with good advice on their own initiative. Rijsttafel was delicious and very varied. Would love to come back someday!

The food is decent but misses the originality of Afghan flavors. The worst part is pricing and rather languid service. It took them 50 minutes to bring our meal. And they make you buy their 6€ water bottle instead of serving regular tap water or a cheaper alternative which is unfair to the customer.

Coincidentally, we were eating there at the same time as the person who wrote a 1 star review below. We had a delicious meal and also had a nice bottle of water. The tone in which the price of the water was discussed was such that we offered to pay for the water. If you can't afford water, go to the appie and get a sandwich. There was also a real threat that they would only post a good review if the water was removed. If it has to be like that!! And then ultimately post a 1 star review even though on the evening itself they indicated that everything was delicious. In any case, we had a delicious meal, despite these nasty people next to us.

This place has nice decor and half decent but definitely overpriced food and strange atmosphere inside. The main issues are unprofessional menus with scribbled out prices and no drinks menu. We wanted tap water with our dinner but we’re told they don’t offer it (which is strange). We had no other choice but to order a bottle of water. However as there was no drinks menu, we didn’t know the price until we received the bill. €6.45 is ridiculously expensive for water and we were not informed of this exuberant cost before ordering. Otherwise we would NOT have ordered it. I spoke to the manager about it who didn’t do any favours to leave with a positive experience. He tried to justify why the water was that cost and why they don’t offer tap water. Bad choice there as it just left us more annoyed. The customer is always right and should never have to ask for something to be taken off the bill. He very reluctantly reduced the water cost. I wouldn’t recommend going here as you can get much better value for money elsewhere.

Gisteren met een groep van tien man wezen eten bij Afsana Restaurant. Dank jullie wel voor de geweldige service en het eten was heerlijk. Het eten was vers en heel veel. We mochten het eten meenemen en we hebben alles netjes ingepakt meegekregen. Al met al een geweldige restaurant om te eten. Rijstschotel met mixed grill was heerlijk!!

Het is zeker niet meer wat het ooit geweest is. Eten was niet lekker en veel te weinig voor wat je betaalt. Rijst was aangebrand, eten was veel te zout. Sommige dingen hebben we laten staan omdat het te zout was om te eten. Dit hebben we aangegeven maar is er niks mee gedaan. Ooit kwamen we hier regelmatig maar we komen niet meer terug.

Voortreffelijk gegeten. Dit restaurant overtreft alle verwachtingen, wat een smaak sensatie!

Heerlijk eten en vriendelijke bediening. Een aanrader! We hadden een 3 gangen rijsttafel. Gezellig om samen alle verschillende gerechtjes te delen.

Porties zijn groot, maar 2/3 bestaat uit rijst. Ja daar maak je mij niet blij mee. Je krijgt salade erbij. Verder is het de bedoeling dat je naan, yoghurt en chutney krijgt. Die kregen we pas nadat ons eten op was. Te weinig check momenten om te vragen of alles naar wens is of het eten smaakt. Misschien te kort aan personeel. Maar vond het voor de prijs enorm jammer. 135 voor 5 personen. Sfeer is enorm leuk, personeel geeft persoonlijke aandacht bij het opnemen van de bestelling maar daarna krijg je alleen je eten en doei.

Op 29 mei met 22 mensen bij Afsana gegeten. Er werd goed mee gekeken hoe we op een fijn plek met z'n grote groep konden zitten. De diverse rijsttafels waren heerlijk en er werd goe uitgelegd wat elke hapje was. Fijne avond gehad!

Mooie nette restaurant met een Afghaanse sfeer in zowel eten als decor. Wij hebben daar heerlijk gegeten, vooral de mixed grill en de rijsttafel zijn een aanrader. Zeer gastvrij en klantvriendelijk. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

Een mooi restaurant met super vriendelijk personeel. De hoeveelheid eten is ruim voldoende en de smaken voortreffelijk. Al met al een aanrader, om als je wat anders dan anders wilt eten, deze plek te bezoeken.

Leuke inrichting. Aardige jongeman in de bediening. Afghaans eten heb ik eerlijk gezegd beter gehad.
