Top food if you like Afghan food and you don't know it, I would say try it. Location at the Kuip on the water. It is also possible to eat and drink outside on the terrace.

Apparently there had been a fire and the Google page had not been updated. Are you standing there? Are difficult to reach. Luckily I was able to score a nice tent around the corner.

Very nice restaurant to combine with activities in the area such as a football match or going to the cinema. The lunch dishes on Instagram also look very good, although I haven't had a chance to taste them yet.

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food. If you are not yet familiar with Afghan cuisine, this is your restaurant for the best introduction. Too bad they are now temporarily closed. I hope they open again soon. Can't find anything about a possible opening date.

Ridiculous restaurant. If you come to celebrate a birthday, bring your own cake and it will be placed on your table for €35 without plates, cutlery or cut.

We had reserved Helai for a large group and paid more than 1500 euros. Well, never had such unfriendly rushed service. The staff was counting down to the minute and rushing us to leave (while closing time was approaching and we and our guests had no time to take it easy!). In addition, not even a fun band that someone had rented as a surprise was allowed to go into the restaurant. I thought the service was a big 1, if you pay top prize you expect thoughtful service. The food was cold and nothing special. Price-quality ratio is not good.

Atmosphere is nice, staff is a bit too expectant, and the food has unfortunately deteriorated. When I came there 2/3 years ago it was so delicious, it's a pity that the rice now only tastes like lemon and the portions are so small. not a good price-quality ratio, that's why I don't come here anymore, it's really bad, scandalous because you really ask too much. Stop spending your profits on the interior instead of the quality of food.

As an Afghan, I thought the food could be a little more spicy. Sambosa were good. Mantu could really use a little spicier. Minced meat was quite plain. The food was tasty, but from an Afghan perspective it could use more spice. For someone from the west I understand it, but next time. Something more spicy! P.S. let the staff talk a little slower. I could follow it, but a little slower

What struck me first and what I thought was special was that the hostess introduced herself and that we could contact her if we had any questions. This already makes a big impression on us. Fast service and friendly staff and the waiter, everything matched the atmosphere and ambiance. I thought the food was good and tasty. I gave 4 stars because I thought the chicken dish was too spicy, but that's normal in this kitchen. But the starters were delicious! I definitely recommend it to those interested. If I ever get married, I would even want to have my reception here, because it looks very beautiful, like 1001 nights atmosphere :)

The food was delicious, we enjoyed all the snacks from the rice table. Just like the bread with the various "dips/spreads" beforehand and the surprisingly delicious ice cream for dessert. We opted for the Afghan tea which was beautifully served. The service is good, smooth and friendly! Pleasant background music that should be repeated less often 😉We will definitely come back

We wanted to try something different and ended up at Helai. We didn't know what to expect, but we were really pleasantly surprised. Very attractive decoration, very friendly staff and not to forget the delicious food. This was definitely worth repeating for us.

Food was very good, but I found it less so with desert. The atmosphere and service were top notch. Definitely worth coming back

Beautiful and cozy venue, delicious food for a very fair price (and lots of it, everyone was stuffed), and kind and attentive servers! The robot server was adorable. Overall a very pleasant restaurant for my birthday dinner :)

Had high tea. Delicious food. Good price-quantity ratio. As a tea lover I have to say that they had one of the tastiest teas I have ever had. The interior is also beautiful and festive.

Beautiful restaurant! We were almost fifteen minutes late, because it was completely stuck around the Kuip, but luckily they didn't make a fuss. Super sweet waitress who really did her best. The food was great, good portions! Everyone enjoyed it.

Really a very nice place to go with your loved one or friends beautiful location nice atmosphere everything is well arranged for you I sincerely give the waitress a 10 very hospitable they also explain what you have on the table and what the dishes are a lot of variety what I like The table also had 1 minus point, which I also indicated to them is that the food gets cold quickly on the shelves, don't forget to keep candles at the bottom so that it stays warm a little longer. For the rest, I will definitely come back.

Unfortunately, I found the food really disappointing. The meat really had little taste, for the price you paid for it I think this is a real shame.

Nice restaurant with tasty dishes from Afghan cuisine in the heart of Rotterdam and a good Afghan restaurant, kebab and cubide have a good taste and are well cooked, the portions are sufficient, the starters and side dishes are generously served, the rice is good but not special and tasty Afghan desserts available. Staff speaks good Dutch.

Good food, beautiful place. However, the waitress was very pushy with their questions and interruptions during our conversations. It's clear they want you gone quickly and it's clear they want to sell you a lot quickly. So never again for me!!

Ik ben naar veel restaurants gegaan maar tot nu toe is dit wel echt mijn favoriete plekje, de medewerkers letten goed op, vragen af en toe of het allemaal smaakt en zijn erg behulpzaam. Het eten is geweldig, wij gingen zelf voor de mix grill en alles was gewoon heel erg lekker ook de sausjes die je erbij krijgt zijn super lekker:) ik vind dat helai het heel goed voor elkaar heeft, we zijn rond een jaar geleden ook gegaan en de kwaliteit is nooit achteruit gegaan.

Vond het een supermooie gezellige en rustige plek. Ook het personeel was zeer vriendelijk. Met name levi, hij heeft de reservering voor me geregeld na een kleine storing. Alles werd professioneel opgepakt! Toppers echt een aanrader

Dank aan de serveerster Soraya ze was erg vriendelijk en heeft mij goed geholpen.

We hebben hier een babyshower gevierd met een klein gezelschap. Een erg mooi restaurant met een fijne sfeer en erg vriendelijk personeel. Het eten was heerlijk! Wij komen zeker vaker terug.

Zeer vriendelijk personeel, het eten was uitmuntend (wij hadden de mixed grill) en zeer ruime porties. Ook het grand dessert was fantastisch. Zeker een aanrader!!!!

Today’s afternoon we have been here for High Tea (25 EUR p.p). Fabulous interior, super comfy seating and nice music. The food was a great delight with a diverse selection of snacks. Staff is friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant and looking definitely forward to come back and have dinner here.

Natuurlijk is Helai prachtig aangekleed en voelt het bijna sprookjesachtig om hier te eten, echter is de kwaliteit en service er over de jaren heen op achteruit gegaan. Ik moest 25min wachten op een flesje water. Laat staan hoelang op het eten. Ook het eten is niet meer een sensatie net als voorheen. Vind ook best dat jullie personeel bij aanvang en afrekening wat attenter mag zijn. Er werd ons namelijk verteld dat wij wel contant mogen afrekenen, maar dat er geen wisselgeld gegeven kan worden ivm diefstal. Dit terwijl ons contant geld werd meegenomen naar achter, ik neem aan dat er meer mensen contant afrekenen en er dus ongetwijfeld wisselgeld achter ligt. Los van het feit dat het klantonvriendelijk is om af te zien van het geven van wisselgeld in een restaurant, is het nog vreemder dat onze ongenoegen hierover werd gesust door het personeel. “Het is sowieso minder voorkomend dat er contant wordt betaald” oké? Dan geen wisselgeld? Al met al was Helai een van zelf sprekend goed restaurant voor mij, maar is dit na deze ervaring niet meer het geval.

Eten was erg lekker, de ambiance was erg goed. De bediening kan wel iets beter, wellicht wat vaker vragen of men nog iets te drinken wilt bestellen en goed luisteren wat er wordt besteld. Wij hadden het kerstmenu met een soepje vooraf, warm brood met verschillende dip en daarna het hoofdgerecht met een zeer uitgebreide rijsttafel met de variatie in vlees-, groente- en vegetarische gerechten.

Op aanraden van kennissen hier gaan eten. Wat was dat een goed idee zeg! Prachtig aangekleed restaurant en je zit er relaxed. Geweldige service en het eten is kwalitatief ontzettend goed met veel verschillende smaken. Als je van alles wilt proberen dan is de rijsttafel aan te bevelen. Het personeel is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Bedankt voor deze ervaring, we komen zeker terug!
