Aguada Café-Restaurant in Weesperbuurt/Plantage

About 10 years ago, I just walked in and ate a truly delicious ribeye. Then I came back a few days ago and the ribeye was gone! Such a shame… But then I decided to try the white fish and it was just as tasty! I thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the food here! If you are near Roeterseiland and are in the mood for a cozy atmosphere with delicious food, stop by!

The food was absolutely delicious, I loved the Rendang! The prices are reasonable, especially for drinks, which is rare. The service is a little slow, but it's worth the wait!

A very intimate and welcoming place, a little dated but with a great atmosphere. We were served with great warmth, and the vegetable soup was superb! The fish and beef stew were delicious, accompanied by pita bread and rice. The dishes are generous, and the bill is very reasonable.

Truly extraordinary, French and demanding in the kitchen, I was blown away by the dishes. The Rendang is a balanced explosion of flavors that blew me away from the first bite. The fondue is much better than most French restaurants, although it would be a real plus to offer meat as an extra for the more demanding! The setting evokes a picture from another era: rustic and traditional beauty. I'm not familiar with Dutch culture, but you can feel the kitchen's history, as the regulars seem to have been coming for years. The decor infuses the history of the building, certainly an establishment passed down through generations. In short: lovers of a family-friendly, rustic setting and masterful eclectic cuisine, you've found a rare gem. I'll be back without hesitation!

Hidden gem! Fondue was so yummy 🤤 and they had so many other delicious options. Small and unpretentious menu, small and cozy homey vibe.

They don’t seem to welcome you if you are not Dutch. So don’t bother.

I keep coming to this family restaurant over the last 20 years, every time I visit Amsterdam. It has been consistently very good and actually has gotten even better now. Excellent food at very reasonable prices.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff but make sure to bring lots of patience because the food will take an eternity to arrive. We came close to leaving after waiting more than 30 minutes for our food.

Avoid! Very good food but deplorable service... my prawns were assigned to another table, my partner was served 15 minutes before me while I still had nothing to eat. Dog wandering around the kitchen, mediocre waitress, I ask her for the bill and brings me a beer.

Very good place to eat and relax. The staff is very pleasant and helpful to their customers. We came to eat a fondue, it is at an affordable price however the taste of alcohol comes out too much, it spoils our pleasure. Otherwise I recommend this place for other dishes

Buena comida aquí y el personal amable. Tuve las gambas para empezar que eran excelentes y la fondue que era más que suficiente para 2 personas. Mi marido tenía el calabacín casero y la sopa Stilton y el curry vegetariano que dice que estaba delicioso. Sin duda recomendaría

Lovely meal here and friendly staff. I had the prawns to start which were excellent and the fondue which was more than enough for 2 people. My husband had the home made courgette and Stilton soup and the vegetarian curry which he says was delicious. Would definitely recommend

The prices in this simple but cozy homely restaurant invite you to eat out more often. 3 courses plus a 43 with the cappuccino for 2 people 80 euros. The shrimp in garlic were very tasty. Ordered extra bread to sop up the garlic sauce. Thanks for your hospitality Rob and Wendy

Ok restaurant but had the potential to be very good. The menu was diverse offering Dutch and Indonesian dishes (among others). It was nice to have fondue in April.

I was at Augada restaurant on February 27th with my wife. Service was great. However, the Indonesian Beef Stew I ate caused severe diarrhea. Reporting this as 5 days later I am still experiencing symptoms.

Nice neighborhood restaurant with friendly service. The menu is small but nice and you can drink good wine with it. Very nice cheese fondue! You get good value for your money, to put it in Dutch. Reservations are recommended because the relatively small place fills up very quickly.

Heerlijk gegeten gisterenavond! Geen grote trek dus 2 voorgerechten, gamba's en geitenkaas salade. Ik heb gesmuld!

We choose to sit outside, however, only two table are outside. The menu is mixed (Spanish, French, Indonesian, Thai etc. ) and suits all tastes. The team running it all are young and enthusiastic and the quality of food was great. Crema catalana was good too and white wine was good.

Kreeg een goede indiase pizza met smaak en pit. Echter de lams biefstukjes waren volledig door gegaard en lagen in een zielig plasje saus. De thali die mijn vrouw kreeg miste de kruiden die er door heen zouden moeten gaan. Zonde, meestal erg lekker eten hier.

Super Restaurant im Herzen Amsterdam's - wer einen richtigen "local" Spot sucht ist hier richtig! Wir haben vorab reserviert und sind abends eingekehrt. Der Flair, das Design und die Inneneinrichtung erinnern an eine alte Kirche. Mir gefallen die alten Kerzen auf den Tischen und der Blick nach draußen. Die Speisekarte ist klein und übersichtlich was mir sehr gut gefällt und immer für gute Restaurants spricht. Die Vorspeisen kamen schnell und wurden frisch zubereitet, mein persönlicher Tipp - "die Pizza und Chorizo" - mega lecker! Dann kam schon das Highlight des Abends - das originale Käsefondue! Es hatte Anfangs einen merkwürdigen Eigengeschmack, aber nach kurzer Zeit schmeckte es richtig lecker! I like! Die Toiletten sind sauber und gepflegt und auch das Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis ist unschlagbar. Definitiv ein Place to be! Hidden-Secret!

Absolutely incredible rendang! Never had the dish (or Indonesian food ever) but I got recommended this place by a bartender and man it did not disappoint! Definitely take the metro ride out here, it's well worth it!

Granted it was a very wet March evening in Amsterdam and so the coziness that hit us when we entered was lovely. We choose to sit upstairs on the entresol and it was wonderful. The candlelit restaurant creates a magical atmosphere. It is quirky because you expect typical French dishes to match the interior but the menu is mixed (Spanish, French, Indonesian, Thai etc. ) and suits all tastes. The team running it all are young and enthusiastic. I suppose the secret to their success is that they keep it simple…but with attention to detail. We had the roast leg of lamb and cheese fondue which were delicious. What more can you ask and very reasonably priced. Water is offered free and a simple choice of wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

This neighborhood cafe exemplifies the Dutch idea of Gezellig, a coziness that's hard to beat. The decor is outdated, but it works. The old world ambience and candles atop each table feel like a throwback to simpler times. I loved it. It was such a cozy and charming atmosphere. The staff was very welcoming and the food was fantastic. My group shared the gruyere and gorgonzola fondue, which was delicious. I can't recommend this place enough.

The food is great and the staff are more than nice but if you don’t eat hot, don’t order the rendang. It should be served with a fire extinguisher. Otherwise, really nice.

Very cute place near the universities. Service was lovely. Calm, balanced, gentle. I have never used those word for service before but the waiter was all that. Food we had was the chorizo sausage, shrimp, and fondue (which we could not finished). I might order another chorizo to dip in the cheese!! Yum. Very reasonable.

Eclectic mix of starters and main courses (from rendang to cheese fondue). The food is good, though it took a while until the entire table had their dish. Wine is available in two flavors, red and white. Staff was very friendly and the outdoor terrace is nice on a summer evening.
