Akitsu in Jordaan

One of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. Visited three times. Will keep going back.

We’re from Switzerland and just had dinner at Akitsu in Amsterdam and honestly, it was such a great experience. The food was super fresh and really tasty, nothing fancy or over the top, just really good and well made. The people there were super kind, service was quick, and the vibe was warm and relaxed exactly what we needed. Everything just felt right. Plus, fun fact: my girlfriend’s dad is a world champion pasta chef, so she knows good food and even she was impressed. 😄 We left happy, full, and already planning to come back. Big love to the Akitsu team. ❤️

Good enough sushi, but a little overpriced for what it is. You can get more authentic Japanese restaurants for the same price.

Food is great and fresh, but honestly a bit expensive for what it is. Ramen, sashimi, and nigiri were quite authentic and fresh.

Sashimi & wagyu great! Wine & sake also tasty and of good quality. Price-quality ratio a bit out of balance and atmosphere / entourage could really be improved. It was very hot, a bit noisy & not very atmospheric. We paid more than €240.00 but were still slightly hungry afterwards. Definitely fun to experience once, but not necessarily worth repeating

Excellent toro and hamachi sashimi

Went here with a friend after getting this restaurant recommended multiple times. The food is good, the salmon sashimi is great! I also tried the Toro, it had a distinct taste and very buttery, not really my taste but glad that I tried. The other dishes like fried chicken and chasyu-men were good too. Staff was really helpful in explaining menu items. Definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in Amsterdam!

Akitsu is always very good. High quality food, kind and attentive service, nice atmosphere and very interesting wine list.

Went here with a friend, both of us being sushi lovers, and we enjoyed the food here a lot! They have quite some dishes, but we went only for the sushi. They also have a nice wine selection as well as Japanese drinks. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy, and the staff is very friendly and takes time to explain if you have questions. I would say it was one of the best sushi I had in the Netherlands!

Tuna Sashimi is super soft and delicious! Same goes for the rest of the menu.

Reservation canceled last minute because they could not cook for a group of 7 people during the weekend, which is a shame. Booked almost 2 weeks in advance and canceled 1.5 days in advance. Was looking forward to it, especially because it was on my birthday.

This is in my opinion the best sushi in Amsterdam. Really a hidden gem!

This restaurant can turn out a bit pricey if you order carelessly, as their portions are a little on the small side (eg, 6 pieces per cut roll when I'd expect 8), but you're getting the best quality, so they cannot be downrated for that - top quality products, and clearly experienced people in the kitchen. Their small bottle of house sake is mild and tasty and reasonably priced, make sure to order from their sushi a la carte cut roll. Oh, and if you like tuna, you have to try their Toro fatty blue fin tuna!

Very good sushi, high prices but you leave happy. If you want there are two menus valid only for two people if I remember correctly one for €135 the other for €157

We shared a menu for two people + rice and drinks, which cost €80 per person, but unfortunately we left hungry. The food was really tasty, but ordering something before 10:00 PM was no longer allowed. That's why I went to Febo.

Truly the best Japanese restaurant in Amsterdam! From the outside this restaurant doesn't look very inviting, but don't let that put you off because the food is really great! I personally don't know a better Japanese restaurant in Amsterdam than Akitzu. The fish is so fresh it melts in your tongue! I've eaten here a few times and every time the food has been of consistently high quality. Service is good and friendly! One of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam

One of the best sushi places in Amsterdam!

Excellent sushi at a great price point.

Made reservation 2 wks ahead. While sitting down we were told that table was only available for 1 hr. They were sure they informed us about that , but if they had we would not have made the reservation at all . Serving was slow. Ask several times for items we ordered, but weren't served. Toro sashimi was not smooth. Nigiri had very small rice serving and small topping. Unagi not topped with unagi sauce, Sushi was not rolled firmly and almost fell apart on the plate.

Our favorite Japanese restaurant in Amsterdam. For a very long time. While we live in Amstelveen and there are so many Japanese restaurants there, we always prefer to go here. Excellent quality dishes; the sashimi and sushi prepared by the extremely skilled chef who has been there as long as the restaurant. That's something different from the sad rubbish that is sold everywhere these days as sushi and sashimi. But also the trusted manager, who still recognizes us even if we haven't been there for three years due to corona. Good, traditional Japanese menu. You can also sit traditionally at the bar - or at a low Japanese table. A modern development: the menu on the table via a QR code. Personally, I don't like that - but you can also ask for a regular turn.

Delicious food!! It was quite a hassle to replace the meat options on the menu with other dishes, but unfortunately we had to pay a lot extra for this without being notified.

A great restaurant with a sublime price/quality ratio for years. Always good fresh fish and a warm, lovely family who have been running the business very professionally for years. Lots of knowledge and a nice wine list. The restaurant feels like a cozy warm living room. Clearly Japanese. Warm wood. Nice cooling with beautiful fresh fish. Akitsu never disappoints. Reservations necessary. Actually always busy. But in the right way.

We had a reservation at 8p for my wife’s birthday. We were not spoken to until 8:30, drinks ordered didn’t come until 9p (they close at 10). By this point I was willing to overlook everything if the food was good but, unfortunately, the main course wagu was slimy and flavor of mushrooms and sauce were underwhelming. My partner thought her beef teriyaki was okay, but for a total of €107 it feels like we were scammed. Maybe the other good reviews were strictly for sushi and ramen (ramen not served in the weekends)

I came here and ate only one thing - the charshu ramen with tonkatsu broth. You can also choose miso or shoyu but why be basic. This was hands down the best ramen I’ve had in Amsterdam. And the only reason I had just one dish was because this was so huge I basically gorged myself on it and love every single moment. The best €16.50 I’ve spent on a meal in Amsterdam. Will 100% be back to try other dishes.

Restaurant familial japonais un peu éloigné du centre-ville. La cuisine est fraîche et houteuse. Les portions sont en revanche petites pour des tarifs relativement élevés. On regrettera un service un peu long.

Our first dining experience was at Akitsu. We left speechless and smile, ranting about how good the buttery yellowtail's was, the wagyu beef & mushroom was to die for. Thank you for a wonderful meal at your fine establishment.

Cycling through Amsterdam I always pass by this restaurant. Finally I decided to visit. Even for a not fish lover they have plenty of dishes to choose from. The service is friendly.

We hebben gekozen voor een menu . Veel gerechten om te delen Waanzinnig lekkere fatty torro tonijn Sushi met Spicy zalm Wayu beef spiesje gegrild Enzovoort... We zaten aan de bar, recht tegenover de koks, super leuk ! Ga zeker snel terug

Sitio fantástico japonés auténtico. Si te gusta la comida japonesa y no tienes prisa te lo recomiendo 100%. El único inconveniente es que son un poco lentos. Pero si no tienes prisa es un sitio fantástico para cenar o comer. Déjate aconsejar pos los camareros para pedir.

I was craving for nice sushi for a while and Akitsu was perfect! Food was fresh and tasty especially sushi and grilled chicken. Will definitely come back again. Update: There was English menu. The staff were super friendly and could speak many languages(Dutch, English, Mandarin,…) which was a plus!

Why has it taken me so long to visit Akitsu? The salmon sushi was the best I've tasted in over 20 years and the Teriyaki mix was fantastic! I did my best eating with chopsticks but the attentive staff noticed my struggle and discreetly offered me a knife and fork 😁

Wat was het eten weer geweldig!! Nu paar keer gegeten en elke keer ben ik weer verrast door de kwaliteit en de smaken. Ook erg goede en lieve bediening. Het restaurant ziet er van de buitenkant niet heel aantrekkelijk uit, maar het eten daarentegen maakt het meer dan goed. Ik denk dat dit het beste Japanse restaurant van Amsterdam is.

I would say this place has a lot of potential but the sushi we were expecting a little bit more quality for the price we paid. We will go back and give it another chance

Authentic sushi place. Food was amazing and service was impeccable. Kuei, the waitress, was very nice and made us have a memorable experience. Will definitely come back!

Real Japanese food. Really good.

We mochten op de avond zelf, na een belletje, nog plaats nemen. Niet dat ik zelf Japanner ben, maar dit proefde als sushi zoals het hoort. Zijdezacht, smelt op de tong met pure smaken. Aan het eind nog tips meegekregen van de chef. Fijne bediening!

The food is really good but the service is terrible we waited for so long! It is also very expensive..I don't mind to pay but I'd like to have a good service waiting 45min for a dish is a way too much!

Absolutely fascinated by the semi-traditional decor and the way the two Chefs masterfully craft each piece of sushi. Sharpened knives carving intricate cuts for sashimi. My 1st time but won't be my last

どれもとっても美味しくて食べる度に幸せな気持ちになりました。ひらめのお刺身の口当たりがひらめの握り寿司とはまた全く違う食感を楽しめて感動！！これほど本格的な日本料理でメニューも豊富なのにお値段が良心的なのは驚きです！日本人としてもかなりおすすめします。

Overpriced with chaotic service, but delicious food

This is possibly the best Japanese restaurant i have been to in Europe. Sublime dishes of a diverse nature all impeccable and full of flavor. You know what they say about UNI ?- it’s quality defines the quality of the establishment. The uni was perfect and marvelously fresh.

Fun food and nice atmosphere, the tempura wasnt crispy. The broth of both were amazing which is of course the most important part.

The chasyu ramen is amazing! And the interior is super cute, friendly staffs as well But the tempura udon was okay, fries weren’t crispy.

Hier op een vrijdag gegeten. Erg lange wachttijden , en dan 1 gerecht per keer krijgen. Ook heb ik elders lekkerdere sushi gegeten , zeker voor deze prijzen vond ik het erg tegenvallen.

Good quality regarding the ingredients… but considering the prices, it could have been better. Also, the presentation of the dishes and the setting is mediocre.

Very fresh ingredients and helpful fast service!

Delicious food. Exceptionally fresh fish in sashimi, the tuna blew our minds and the shrimp was so sweet. We had wagyu udon and stir fried scallops, both dishes were a huge success. It’s good for both date nights and as a group outing spot. I’d love a little bit more variety in beer offering and perhaps some more dessert options. But we will definitely be back here for a sashimi feast!

A mixed experience at Akitsu. We enjoyed the food. I'm no Japanese food connoisseur but I've not tried sukiyaki before and that was a good choice. However, I felt we were pushed (multiple times!) by our waiter into ordering too much food. As the customer of a restaurant, I want to trust that the staff are on my side and are helping me to have a good experience. That's one of the things that makes me want to come back a second time. But that's not what I felt at the end of my meal here. I had no way to know what the portion sizes were from the menu, and I felt purposely mislead. Sushi is not cheap. Overall, we probably spent €40-50 too much between four people.

Normally five stars… the food is vert tasty and the choices are good..sake variations are good..but the service takes some much time and the order is coming sone uncoordinated.. but the food is perfect
