Kagetsu III in Buitenveldert-West

The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and quiet. However, I was quite disappointed by the food. Unfortunately this was one of the least tasty katsu I have had. Given the many nice restaurants in Amsterdam I don’t recommend.

Tucked away in an apartment complex among the businesses on the lower level, Kagetsu has been my favorite Japanese restaurant I've come across in Amsterdam . The staff is very kind and I love the cozy vibes inside the restaurant. There might be a wait because of limited hours and limited staff, but I find it very much so worth the weight. This isn't slamming a quick meal and running out on the town, this is a culinary experience that is best experienced with friends and food conversation.

Food was good but the service is incredibly slow- like +1 hour waiting time. Not worth it I wouldn’t come back again.

It’s great to be as first customer to enter at 18:00 PM! We have fast service and the staff is very friendly! We ordered fried shrimp curry rice and also chicken skin salad are all very delicious! We will come back again for sure!

This is a restaurant where you can drink Hertog Jan draft beer, which is rare in Japanese restaurants, and where you can eat the most delicious curry in the Netherlands 😋 We ask for team banquets about 2-3 times a year, and they change the menu each time, and the winter hot pot with the members is the best🥹

Simply one of the best japanese restaurants we've visited so far! Very authentic, calming atmosphere and friendly service. We had Niku Udon and Kitsune Udon, which we both enjoyed so much, we just kept talking about how tasty the food was all the way back to the hotel :-) Greetings from Germany

Really tasty food, Udong(noodle), Don and Curry were all great and even tempura was super. I can travel from Rdam to Amsterdam only for this restaurant!

The food is ok but really overpriced!!! It’s better to go to the Japanese market next door to buy and cook yourself, and it wouldn’t be much difference. The service and the atmosphere is ok, but the selection of music playing there is horrible.

I would recommend to readjust your restaurant and mission. Unfortunately, Amsterdam has lots of places with low quality in food, high price, and unsatisfying service. But you do not have to be one of them, you have a nice atmosphere and location. - The waiter has no idea what is going on. - Got a Katsu Don for 16.50eur and had a smaller then medium bowl of mushy and wet rice with mushy and wet pork + salty. - 4 people ate each of the dish had similar quality and price.

Went here with a friend out of curiosity, we had katsu kare and katsu don. We liked the food very much, the katsu kare is as nice as the one I had in Japan. Friend also liked it. Katsu don might be a bit salty, but the katsu is cooked perfectly. Don’t know why thw avg rating is 4.2, would give this place 4.5

砂ずりがとても美味しく、日本の居酒屋に来たような気分になりました。お店は綺麗で、モダンな感じでした。他の人の口コミにあるように、丼物は日本人にはちょうどいいサイズでしたが、こちらのサイズにしては小さめでした。値段を少し上げて、サイズを大きめにしてもいいのではと思いました。

Really nice food options, delicious. Lacking in atmosphere. There used to be a very good Colombian restaurant in this location, which we were looking for. It was a bit late so we ended up going in anyway with no expectations. Tempura was fabulous, the seafood yakisoba was also great, if a little bit small in size. All washed down with Sapporo. Only complaint is that the place looks like a pop-up restaurant, with polyestirene covering the windows to keep the cold out, no real intention in the decor, but might be because it's a new venue. A little bit of love could go a long way. Service was very nice and relatively fast.

Hidden gem in Buitenveldert. Heerlijk gegeten en we kregen goede hulp van de bediening om verschillende gerechten uit te zoeken. Ik kwam hier naar aanleiding van de positieve NRC recensie.

Felt like this place had a lot of potential but fell short. Mediocre service, waited an hour for our food (the miso came even after our main?) despite almost empty restaurant. The food itself was ok but portions ridiculously small, left 40 euros poorer and more hungry than upon arrival.

We spent a good 1.5 hrs at this restaurant with few customers. Had to wait for half an hour for the first round of drinks. After more than an hour half of the appetisers arrived. Kids were hungry.. After informing at the kitchen if the tempura was already being made (unfortunately it was not) we asked for the bill. Went for pizza. It was a shame, because the quality of the sashimi we did received was really good and we had high hopes. But the service and not enough staff ruined the evening. Hope this place will get their s**t together because the food is promising for sure.

Het was erg duur voor wat je kreeg. In de salmon pokebowl zat alleen maar wasabi, zelfs ik die tegen goed tegen pittig eten kan zat met tranen dat weg te werken. De tempuraroll zat namelijks garnalen in en viel telkens uit elkaar. Ook was er geen airco binnen. De service was wel erg top. Aardige personeel.

Great food and amazing service. I had the miso soup, katsudon and sake onigiri. Food and drinks arrived in a timely fashion and tasted heavenly. The menu was small, concise and not overwhelming. Prices were absolutely acceptable. If i visit amsterdam again, one of the main reasons to return will be this restaurant.

Leuk plekje ver van het centrum in elkaar gezet met plakband en lijm. Maar prijs/kwaliteit is helaas niet in balans. We hadden de chicken karaage die gewoonweg droog was, tarter saus ernaast voegt ook helemaal niks aan het gerecht toe. Daarna curry tonkatsu ook gortdroog en klein beetje taai de curry was ook niet bijzonder. De Tori edon was wel heel lekker maar voor het bedrag en de hoeveelheid niet echt waard. Bediening was in haar eentje dus bestelling doorgeven of drankjes ontvangen kan lang duren.

Uitstekend eten. Daar moet je het niet om laten. Wij hadden de pech dat er maar 1 meisje in de bediening was en dat er maar 1 kok in de keuken stond. Drankje bestellen duurde 20 minuten terwijl het restaurant niet vol was. De kok kon de bestellingen duidelijk niet ook aan maar wat die maakte was echt heerijk.

Amazing authentic Japanese food experience! Would definitely recommend the ‘grilled chicken skin’. One of the tastiest dishes I’ve ever had. The restaurant has a really nice vibe. You can park in front of the restaurant for free.

Fantastic meal here. Great authentic flavor for curry and grilled chicken skin. Lacking on juicyness of pork in the katsu, which may be out of restaurants control. Definitely will come back if in area again.

Your place to go! The savory taste of the meal gave me a warm feeling. I am smiling now when I think of it. Interior is open yet it does not disturb the intimacy of your table. The middle section is a long table perfect to seat a bigger group where any member of the party feels close to another and can keep a lively conversation. Lunch menu has also set meals that fill you up. Tasty food and attentive service!

The curry kagetsu was really good, I was very impressed, but I must add that the kagetsu is a bit small and we waited almost for an hour for our food. And we came ten minutes after the opening time, so there weren’t a lot of customers then. So be prepared that your food might take a while to come.

Loved the tokoyaki! The best in Amsterdam for sure. Great service as well. Katsu Curry (the curry flavour can be stronger) and more of the delicious vegetables would be great. Will definitely be back.

Food is average good and worthy money in Amsterdam Compared to other Japanese restaurant in Amsterdam. However, the waitress and the service ruined the whole experience.. waitress is rude and arrogant and not on the mood to serve their customers. Super slow services. We waited almost 2 hours for our foods and it was not busy in the restaurant.

Tori-kawa(chicken skin) and katsu-donburi were yummy.

Excellent tempura and very nice porkchop rice. Apart from that, we drank sugar-free oolong and plum wine, both of very good quality. When we arrived, there were no other customers yet, and honestly I don't understand why, because the food was amazing. Never ate such tempura before. The service was friendly and very quick. Another nice part of this experience is the free parking on Valkenstein, just in front of the restaurant. From 18:00 I could park for free. In the week-ends it might even be free all day, but better check that first. For two delicious drinks and two bowls of excellent food, I payed around 35 euros. Really worth it.

hands down the best japanese restaurant in the netherlands. coming from a neighboring country of Japan, I assure you that you'll experience the most authentic japanese flavor & style!!

The restaurant has a nice ambiance. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. I don't often write reviews if ever but the food and service were so good here I really felt compelled. 5 Stars Highly Recommend!

Delicious food and good portions, this is a very charming and cozy place for a quick lunch or to grab a drink with friends and order some snacks. I really appreciate the little touches such as complimentary tea and a small dessert on the house.
