We traveled from Cologne and wanted to eat at a Kurdish/Oriental restaurant. The restaurant is large and offers plenty of seating. Parking garage nearby. Kid-friendly. The food was excellent: fresh, juicy, and crispy. The staff and chef were very friendly. Thank you for the warm welcome. 👍🏽

An Unsavory Experience That Justifies Every Avoidance My recent visit to Al Hayat was utterly disappointing and left a deeply negative impression. From the moment I stepped inside, the overall atmosphere was immediately offensive; the dingy ambiance and a distinct lack of hygiene were undeniable. It felt as if it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in weeks, which is absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant. As for the food, it was simply inedible. The dishes lacked any flavor and seemed prepared with utter indifference. The quality was lacking, and the texture of some ingredients suggested they were long past their prime. This was a culinary insult and far below what one would expect from any restaurant. On top of this disastrous experience, the staff was exceptionally unfriendly. There was no trace of hospitality or service; I felt more like a burden than a welcome guest. Questions were answered curtly, and complaints were ignored. It's clear that customer service is not a priority here. All in all, I can honestly say I don't recommend Al Hayat. Save yourself the trouble, the money, and the disappointment. There are countless other places where you can enjoy good food and pleasant service. This experience was a complete disappointment, and I will never return.

Even the *starters* were a dream: - The *Baba Ganoush* was wonderfully creamy, smoky in taste and perfectly seasoned. - The *Koba Makli* – beautifully crispy on the outside, wonderfully hearty on the inside with minced meat, bulgur and fine spices – simply fantastic. The *main course* continued the same way: - The *Chicken Tagine* was tender, juicy and flavored with a great mix of herbs, olives and vegetables. - The *lamb tagine* was my personal highlight - buttery soft meat, combined with sweet dried fruits such as plums and apricots - a real taste explosion! - The *Shish Tavuk* was also great – perfectly grilled, spicy chicken skewers, nice and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. - For the children there was *breaded chicken strips with fries* – fresh, crispy and also great in taste. The ambience was pleasantly quiet at lunchtime, stylishly oriental and very clean. I've tried many hookahs in Den Haag, but Al Hayat has the best ones. The food is also amazing (I love their kunefe). The atmosphere there is very nice, all the people working there are very friendly. And bonus, the guy making hookahs is very cute. Will come back definitely

Ate here two weeks ago with my mother. We ate Iraqi kabab. It was very tasty. But we were throwing up all night. We were very ill for a few days. Apparently the quality of the meat was not good.

It is an Iraqi restaurant, they are clean and look neat, the employees are very unprofessional, you have to repeat it 10 times and they still forget it, if you see something that is correct and you report it to them, the owner, who has a lot in his mind, walks by as if he works in a French culinary restaurant, you will not get fries on your plate in a culinary restaurant. The tenderloin I had on my plate for €29.50 took some searching on my plate, normally you have to ask how many grams your customer wants. At €29.50 you should get a double portion. Mezze's were tasty, the best I have eaten so far.

I had a great experience at Restaurant Al Hayat in The Hague! It was a cozy atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. Dimitri helped us and made us feel welcome immediately. He gave excellent recommendations and was attentive without being pushy. The food was fantastic, with fresh ingredients and delicious flavors that take traditional dishes to the next level. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a night out. Definitely recommended for those who enjoy tasty dishes and excellent service!

Truly a very positive experience. The food was super tasty and beautifully served. The employees were very polite. You can park your car opposite the restaurant in the Q-park parking garage, which is very nice since it is in the center. They also have a very smart system where you turn a light on your table and an employee will immediately come to your table. So no fuss with making eye contact and waiting for a waiter to walk by! The atmosphere was really nice, it's a really nice vibe there. Lots of antiques and cultural decoration. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I will definitely come back here again!

We wanted to have an Iraqi dinner, so we chose this restaurant. The only thing that was good when is comes to food was the lentils soup. The mixed grill was not that good, and the Qozi with bamia wasn’t good at all, especially the meat it felt like it was cooked the day before, like spoiled, we couldn’t eat it. The atmosphere was not very nice for us. The only thing I liked was the lamp system on the table. As for the staff, the cashier wasn’t very nice. We felt like we couldn’t criticise the food we bought with our own money. And she even didn’t deny that the meat was not cooked the day before, which made us even more concerned. Last time for us in this restaurant.

My bday Girl chose this restaurant to eat and it was a good and tasty choice. It is a Lebanese restaurant and since we had never eaten Lebanese before this was a good time to do so. And the food was tasty, also the desserts. The service was good, and helpful came by at the right time to ask if we wanted to order something and if everything was to our liking. The room was tastefully decorated with just enough lighting. And the restaurant was close to the hotel so within walking distance.

First food was not warm second I had clearly indicated I can not eat sweet so no sweet sauce or sweet marinated meat but what do I get sweet food and I had to explain about that several times Well so I did not eat. Third I ask for the bill and on the bill it says meat that I did not eat I still have to pay ok still, that is rude or not, sorry you are not going to let your customer pay for what she did not eat you should behave normally that is not how you keep customers

I went with my friends, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Despite the Google listing saying they were open until 11 PM, we were told they were closing at 10:30 PM. The manager was quite rude, and when we tried to order shisha, they refused to let half of our group sit at a separate table. It wasn’t the welcoming atmosphere we had hoped for.

We went there to have fun and we were very disappointed. The atmosphere was very uncomfortable and the staff was very rude and mean. It felt like we were eating for free because of the way they treated us. Every time we tried to order something they said they didn't have it, but it was on the menu. Definitely not recommended!!

High quality Lebanese food in somewhat impersonal surroundings. It isn't really an intimate place, the place is huge, and asking for service means turning your table lamp. So the atmosphere is so-so. But the mezze platter for two and the kebab was excellent.

Food is okay, service too bad, you ask the reception/ waiter that you would like to change rice ro fries into your plate she said no!! I've never visited a restaurant and they couldn't change for the customer what he wants, i told her you can charge me what i need to change but i don't want to throw rice, i will not eat rice!! she said i can't do anything. Such a shame !" Anyway, i don't recommend it, also the shisha is too expensive.

Food very bad and too salty. Qozi was tasteless. Sis tavul very salty! Tried to eat yogurt with my husband but got nauseous. When they were sent back, they were kicked on their toes because a skewer had been eaten. We indicated that we do not want a refund but it is extremely salty. Harira tastes like everything except harira. In any case, never again and I absolutely do not recommend it.

Dry kababs and they force you to pay for 7euro bottle of water. No joke. What can you do when they say they don’t have tap water and the kabab is dry AF. The only thing they were generous with was their bread.

Tasty food and very good service. Due to a late reservation we had a table with a noisy group, nothing can be done about it. To our surprise, the (very attentive) staff suggested to move us to a quieter part of the restaurant, plus we got a free dessert. Never experienced such good service before. The meal was very tasty and well seasoned. The Lebanese wine was a discovery in itself. The Iraqi tea was also fantastic. Never had such delicious tea before. The decor is, as is apparently often the case with Lebanese restaurants, lavish and colorful, but certainly atmospheric. In short, definitely recommended.

If you are going to go and try for sure you will never go back again. Many dishes are not on the menu but they will recommend it without telling you about the cost. Later on they will shock you with their ridiculous high prices. Most of positive reviews are family and friends of the owner as we were told by one of their own staff. NL: The prices are really ridiculously expensive. Service is poor, employees are unfriendly and have nothing to do with hospitality. They are purely focused on making money from you without giving anything in return. It's strange that no government agency controls this type of restaurant and just lets them do what they want. All positive reviews are usually the knowledge and family of the owner. So really fake. This was told to us by one of the servers. In any case, if you try it yourself, you will never go back. Ridiculous. Some dishes cannot be found on the menu, but they will still recommend it without telling you the price in advance. You will soon be surprised with a big voucher. Fabulous. The restaurant is traditionally decorated with the feeling that takes you to the heart of the middle east. Very delicious food, freidnly people and very close to Den Haag Centraal, Stadhuis and the city centre.

Das Restaurant ,,Al Hayat“ hat mich von Anfang an mit seinem orientalischen Flair begeistert. Die Einrichtung ist einfach zauberhaft und versetzt einen sofort in eine andere Welt. Das Personal war äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend, was den Besuch umso angenehmer gemacht hat. Ich war besonders beeindruckt von der kurzen Wartezeit, trotz des gut besuchten Restaurants. Das Essen war einfach köstlich! Alle Gerichte waren perfekt gewürzt. Das frische Brot, das serviert wurde, war ein echter Genuss. Die Portionen waren mehr als ausreichend und haben mich satt und zufrieden gemacht. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt: Es gibt Parkplätze in der Nähe des Restaurants. Alles in allem kann ich das Restaurant Al Hayat nur wärmstens empfehlen. Hier erlebt man nicht nur fantastisches Essen, sondern auch eine traumhafte Atmosphäre.

I made a 10 person reservation for my girlfriend's surprise birthday dinner and the staff made everything perfect. They thought our birthday cake was too "boring" so they went out of their way to put it in a platter with whipped cream all around and extra strawberries on top without any extra charge. Making the reservation by phone, they gave their own input and ideas and assured me that they will make everything work perfectly. Thank you Al Hayat!!!

The Tikka Lahma was the star of the show, tantalizingly tender and bursting with juiciness that left us savoring every single bite. Without a doubt, the experience was worth every penny.
