Sizzling beef is my favorite dish here. Sichuan dishes are moderately spicy, but are adjusted if you ask. Many vegetarian options.

All dishes are prepared fresh and with care, and the presentation is just a notch above the competition. The service is always with a smile and a friendly chat. The restaurant itself is very atmospheric and always spotlessly clean. This restaurant has it all and shows that an all-you-can-taste concept can indeed be really good. Highly recommended!

Not child-friendly at all. We had indicated during the reservation that we were coming with a baby. Nevertheless, there was no high chair available. Out of necessity, we took the stroller out of the car so that our son could at least sit. Subsequently, we were repeatedly told that the stroller was in the way and were asked to move it. There was also no changing pad or table in the restroom. Not a suitable place for children. The food was okay. Ordering for a large group on the tablets is a disaster. Food we ordered in the first round arrived an hour and a half late. Some items didn't arrive, or arrived in duplicate. We will be looking for something else next time.

What delicious dishes you have! We were there with our aunt who was celebrating her 75th birthday. It was very enjoyable and everything was truly exquisite. Highly recommended 😊

It's not what it used to be. I used to come here often 20 years ago and back then it was top-notch; the chef even won awards. Now it's tasteless. The nasi has hardly any meat or spices and has supposedly become a side dish. The same goes for the chicken curry. The restaurant hostess is not customer-friendly. They even have a sushi section and an all-you-can-eat now. It has become massive, at the expense of quality.

This time we found it disappointing; the sushi we ordered for round 1 arrived around rounds 3 and 4. When the bill arrived, we still hadn't received 2 dishes; a bit messy in my opinion. The food was otherwise good. The 2nd round of drinks took 15 minutes for 1 cola and 1 ginger ale. The restaurant was half full. About 6 waitstaff were calling around.

The food we received was delicious, but it was so chaotic—nothing arrived around the same time. After choosing the fourth round, we still received items from the first and second rounds. When we asked where something was, we were given a strange story about takeout food, which was quite odd. I also found a piece of plastic in my tiramisu, which I reported, and nothing was done about it. The boy walked away and never returned. There was no solution, and it wasn't removed either.

What a disappointment! I was helped by a grumpy lady. The order was ready quickly, though. The chicken foeiyonghai and babi pangang were completely tasteless. The sauce was the only thing you could taste. One of the containers leaked, so everything was covered in sauce when I unpacked it. I'm usually easily and quickly satisfied with food, but this was so bad that I'm even giving a review, which I rarely do. The speed and quantity of the dishes were positive.

We dined here with five people on Thursday evening for a 50th birthday celebration. The host was extremely friendly and took the time to thoroughly explain everything. The concept here is essentially tapas, but with a Chinese twist. From sushi to various desserts, with a huge selection of dishes in between. The food was all excellent, nothing to complain about. The portion sizes are also well-balanced, allowing everyone to try a variety of dishes. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed. I definitely recommend it! We even got a €15 discount because it was the birthday boy's birthday.

Do not recommend. We went for the “all you can eat” Asian tapa. This way you can taste small amounts different dishes. Be aware that if the “tapa” is not of your taste, you pay the “waste fee”. I was offered the chance to eat the food I did not like so I would not pay the “waste fee”, but I passed. On the way out, we said “thank you, good bye “ and were treated with silence. There are better options in Leiden. We will not return.

I really like the all you can try concept, it is like eating tapas, you can try a bit of everything. My favorite is the eggplant and the soya chicken, and the desserts ;)

It took quite a bit of searching (I couldn't really find anything on Google), but I finally found Restaurant Alexander. What a wonderful evening we had! The staff were very hospitable, and the vegetarian/vegan options were delicious. The vegan chicken with cashews, the vegan lamb in curry, and the skewers in peanut sauce...🤤 The quality of the food was excellent. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and it felt wonderfully peaceful despite the fact that there were quite a few people in the restaurant. Unlimited dining with no time limit, great staff, and good food in a peaceful and atmospheric setting. The only minor drawback I found was that the drinks were a bit pricey.😶

We opted for an all-you-can-taste lunch! A very warm and friendly welcome, and a good and thorough explanation of the concept. You're not constrained by time, which makes dining out truly enjoyable. What a wonderful experience at this all-you-can-taste Chinese restaurant! The welcoming atmosphere is immediately noticeable upon entering. The service is friendly and attentive; you immediately feel welcome. The food is excellent, everything is freshly prepared, and the flavors are authentic. There's a wide selection of dishes: from delicious sushi to well-seasoned meat and fish dishes, and even plenty of options for vegetarians.

Though restaurant was nearly empty when we asked for the bill it's still took a while to arrive.

I've lived in Stevenshof for 35 years, and it used to be pretty good. But after the last time, I was done with it. Bami with no flavor. A chicken spring roll made entirely of bean sprouts. Not a single piece of chicken in it! In two spring rolls... Babi pangang with bacon was truly awful. And it's gotten really expensive. I won't be going back anytime soon.

Restaurant has switched to “All you can taste” which does not benefit service and service. Since the opening, we have been regular customers and have experienced chef Zhang's mission to introduce guests to more beautiful, better and special authentic Chinese dishes [and stories]. The service including hostess Anja let you sit quietly at the table for twenty minutes to half an hour with the empty starter plates and look/walk right past you. While one “All you can taste” dish after another flies past your table. When addressed, both the service and Anja say that this is simply the result of ordering à la carte. In other words They actually don't want these guests inside anymore. I would say, just get rid of the à la carte [menu]. You'll get rid of a lot of those demanding regular old customers. It's a shame that Zhang has lost his passion and Anja has exchanged her good hostess for ignoring the wishes of customers. Zhang, Anja & Jacky, thank you for the good, pleasant years. As we have already told you, for us it was the last time.

First time ordered and also the last time. Really surprised by the tasteless moist bite. You wouldn't expect that based on the reviews. Very dry babi pangang, dry satay with a lot of tasty peanut sauce. Ko lo kai reasonable. Vegetarian nasi not to chew. Other dishes more water and no taste. Real disappointment. Am an avid Chinese eater and this was one of the lesser ones although I have had worse.

Picked up from this busy Chinese. The prices are well above average but the quality was good!

Vanaf de opening, 28jaar geleden, zijn wij vaste klant en hebben de missie meegemaakt van chef Zhang de gasten te laten kennis maken met mooiere, betere en bijzondere authentieke Chinese gerechten [en verhalen]. En dat is hem fantastisch gelukt. Ook de service, bediening en sfeer was top. Helaas heeft Corona roet in het eten gegooid en is bij Alexander de formule, service en bediening aangepast. Voor de klanten die à la carte willen eten geen verbetering. De “All you can taste” gasten en afhaalklanten krijgen absolute voorrang. Ook de bezorging moet achter in de rij aansluiten en is meestal een half uur tot drie kwartier te laat. De bediening incl. gastvrouw Anja laten je rustig twintig minuten tot een half uur met de lege voorgerecht borden aan tafel zitten en kijken/lopen straal langs je heen. Terwijl het ene na het andere “All you can taste” gerecht langs je tafel vliegt. Bij aanspreken zegt zowel de bediening als Anja dat dat nou eenmaal het gevolg is van à la carte bestellen. M.a.w. eigenlijk willen ze deze gasten niet meer binnen hebben. Ik zou zeggen, schaf de à la carte [menukaart] gewoon af. Ben je gelijk van een hoop van die veeleisende vaste oude klanten af. Het is jammer dat Zhang zijn passie kwijt is en Anja het goed gastvrouw schap heeft ingewisseld voor het negeren van de wensen van klanten. Zhang, Anja & Jacky, bedankt voor de goede, prettige jaren. Zoals we jullie ook al gezegd hebben, voor ons is het de laatste keer geweest.

I just noticed that the chicken, nasi and bami dishes are 100% Halal, which means that I will no longer place any new orders from now on. Because eating Halal is against my beliefs.

Located in a not so nice neighbourhood of Leiden, this restaurant is a hidden gem. The menu is huge and I was worried that restaurants with a huge menu are typically not very good and for tourists, and I could not be more wrong. We tried a lot of different things and everything was delicious from A to Z. In a country where based on my experience it’s difficult to find really good food at a decent price, and considering also that I am not a big fan of Asian dishes, this restaurant made me fall in love with its cuisine, and I am simply looking forward to going back there. In summary…super-recommended, don’t wait!

If you like Asian cuisine and more, then this is highly recommended. A form of all you can taste, with small dishes. The service is cozy and relaxed and at the same time it is slightly classier.

From the outside it's a normal Chinese restaurant, but once inside it's different. Warm welcome by the friendly service, a pity that you have to order via the tablet on the table. But from then on things go quickly and smoothly. The food is very tasty, the tapa-like portions make it possible to try many different dishes.

Watery sauce, not as crispy the bacon. Can't add sauce of your choice. Charged extra money for noodles and bag. Very unfriendly Chinese, looks angry.

Ordered online but had to wait 2 hours and everything was cold and limp (spring roll). Called but no service with discount or compensation, for example. The Chinese are stingy, they won't even give you 1 piece of prawn crackers🤪.

Ordered online in advance. When picking up, I have to wait another half hour with my children. Also don't get anything else while waiting. Had 4 people menu. Food was mediocre and portion was not much for a Chinese restaurant.

We ve been here before on a Monday and the food was good. We came again here to have the same good experience on a Monday at 1pm, mind you the opening time is 12. We travelled all the way here with a baby only to be turned down and be asked to come back at 4 because they were closed. Being in a deserted area, we had no other option than leaving. You don’t turn away customers, especially a family for which is very hard to manage to get ready and go out with a baby (in the future, keep your doors closed and change your opening times).

When we called we heard that it was not coming, because the delivery person could not find the house. Called several times, but no missed call. If it were up to them, we'd still be waiting. Ordered food online. Pick up at 6:15 PM, it wasn't ready at 6:10 PM, it doesn't matter, just wait a while. In the meantime, several customers come to order and pick up and see them leaving with their food, so after half an hour I ask where the food is. Yes, busy, so I ask because it is the umpteenth time what the point of ordering online is. The bald Chinese guy says, you should do it that way too, so drive over and order because that is apparently faster... now it's done, next time back to Katwijk because that's where is the service really better and you don't get a big mouthful from that bald Chinese (spring rolls were also mediocre)

Very cozy and relaxed restaurant, especially if you want to eat out with a group at your leisure. No time limit so you can just chat and eat with your friends or family, and lots of delicious options to taste and choose. Always a perfect evening

The menu for 4 people is made from small containers and at the bottom there was an extra layer of atjar or too many vegetables, so you can eat meat for less. Mihoen were also far too white and far too few vegetables. And nowadays you also have to pay extra for noodles and nasi.

Delicious Chinese, Japanese and Indian dishes. You can order all dishes in a small format throughout the evening, for a fixed price. All you can eat but really culinary responsible. In our opinion, there is no better Chinese restaurant in this region. The location may be a bit uncomfortable, but the food, service and atmosphere inside more than make up for this.

Picked up years, years ago. Now I'm in the mood for Chinese food again; at the table in the restaurant. What a shame. The only thing that was reasonable was the service. The food (a la carte) was not really hot, small bowls of rice, not really tasty food... And all in all, high prices...

Our favorite restaurant several years ago! Enjoy a delicious menu and the friendly service! Then they suddenly started with an iPad, sorting everything out and ordering every time! Is that a relaxing evening and going out for dinner? Unfortunately not for us anymore! The chicken springpas we just got were also, in a word, bad! The packaging of the spring rolls is very greasy, not crispy but soggy! Never had such bad spring rolls anywhere before! Thank you for the years of friendly service!

Had a great meal on my brother's 60th birthday!

Ordered 2 vegetarian spring rolls on the spot, I had to wait 30 minutes (long) - I thought attention was being paid to it and I was looking forward to crispy, good hot spring rolls. Once home, eat it straight away, but… lukewarm and wafer-thin, tough on the outside (definitely not crispy). Called: I was allowed to pick up new ones - cycled back: I should have taken the lukewarm spring rolls with me as proof. It was also said that she had said that over the phone (no!!) As if I was making it up to get free spring rolls. Very customer unfriendly! Boring expensive spring roll anyway (€5.80). Only bean sprouts with a little cabbage and leek and a wafer-thin, tough exterior! I won't come here anymore.

All those little snacks are delicious. From well-known dishes to very unusual dishes, there is something for everyone. The only downside: they no longer do haute cuisine evenings.

Sushi.... heerlijk. All you can eat. 2 per persoon en dan 10 minuten wachten met bestellen. Prima concept. Alleen deze zondag was t erg druk. Zo druk dat t ... geen All you can eat is maar All you can wait Jammer!

Ben zeer recentelijk door de eigenaar zeer onbeschoft behandeld. Terwijl wij (mijn gezelschap en ik) al jaren vaste klant waren en we er regelmatig gingen eten. Ons zien ze hier dus nooit meer!

It is open on the internet from 12 noon. We will get there at 4 pm.. The door is open but we can't eat...not until 5 p.m....

In the past (I think I was 15 years old), it was always a level higher than standard Chinese. But I thought there was nothing left of that now. It wasn't bad, certainly, but it wasn't special either and I found it quite lacking in atmosphere. Staff really good by the way.
