Kwantung Restaurant in Binnenstad-Noord

We ordered a salmon sushi menu i think, we were waiting for like 45 minutes. Then i asked the staff or owner if we could atleast get a drink , the staff/owner started yelling saying that he was on his own in the restaurant and other people who just came 10 minutes ago got their food . Everyone was hungry and my friend’s kid started crying because her stomach hurt.

The restaurant is conveniently located near the train station. The service was friendly. The appetizer was shrimp in rice paper. It was delicious. We ordered Chinese noodles with chicken and beef twice. The beef melted in your mouth, and the food was very good. Dessert was a banana in a pancake baked with powdered sugar. We will definitely return to such a delicious place. I recommend it.

Go here every three months, love the service, food is of good quality, location is excellent, what's not to like? The lady of the restaurant always recognises us and makes sure we get all we want. Looking for flashy, elaborate food with unusual ingredients? Don't go here. Like wholesome, well prepared food in a setting that seems unchanged since 1990, at very reasonable prices, loving service? This is the place for you!

Good service, good view and good food!

The meat (pork and chicken) in the takeaway rijsttafel is truly inedible. I have never had such bad Chinese food. The owner is friendly, though, but I come here for the food. That is truly substandard, unfortunately. A waste of money. I will never get food here again.

There was hardly any vegetables in the dish. The pork was so minimal, and it only came with a slice of ham. A proper wonton soup is missing vegetables 🍄‍🟫🫜. Is it too expensive in Holland? Way too expensive.

We come here often, especially when my wife was still working. The food is excellent, both sit-down and takeout. Very friendly service and a cozy restaurant. The staff really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

Not busy, cozy and small, fast service, delicious food and not expensive

The place looked packed and the staff was friendly and curtious. However, the food was not with asian flavours. We ordered vegetable,soup and egg dishes but the taste was bland and peppery. No distinct vegetables or spices were there.

Very bad hygiene let's not even start about that mice dead flies No never again

My daughter went here to get it. They gave her a bowl of mihoen and a bowl of bami for 25 euros. Called to say there was no meat in it. The lady on the phone said: yes, there is. I'm done with it... 25 euros for 2 bowls of pasta with a slice of ham. What nonsense. She went back and got something else. But I'll never get it again.

After the whiskey festival we had another delicious meal

The restaurant is near the train station. Easy to find and big sign on the wall. Just one waitress and she is very friendly and attentive. The food is very good, tasty and a big portion. Must try when you're in Leiden.

We had a delicious meal. The portions weren't huge, but they were enough. It was delicious, and for dessert, an old-fashioned sorbet was delicious and filling. We had the Indonesian rice table.

Went to this restaurant at a time on a Friday night where almost everything else was completely full. Thankfully there was still a place here. The staff was friendly and the meal was very good. I enjoyed the Tipan Special with black bean sauce a lot. Will definetly visit again!

Had a delicious meal at this authentic Chinese restaurant. The lady quickly showed us a table and she served us smoothly. I chose 105 with white rice and it was all so incredibly fresh and very well heated. At the other table were some regulars who were very entertaining. We had a great time here!

Our fave place to eat in Leiden by a distance! Very tasty food and super friendly and hard working owners! We never even have to order as the owner knows our fave dishes. :) :) Whenever we have guests, we often take them here and everyone likes it equally much! As someone else said, a real gem in the heart of Leiden!

Heerlijk gegeten, Sechuan rijsttafel. Met grote bewondering gekeken naar de dames van de bediening, het was erg druk maar ze konden het prima aan!

Wouldn’t recommend this place. Fried rice with ham and egg was cold and the dumplings with pork had a little bit of raw meat. The waiter cleaned the table with her bare hand and without a cloth. Don’t think that’s sanitary.

I would not recommend. About food: Food is cold, there is no taste to it. Shrimp dumplings are just simple frozen dumplings, nothing special, it was okay. However, it was served with Thai sweet chili sauce… terrible combination. Fried rice is awful and cold, it is the first time I see fried rice cooked so bad. Ham and egg should be cooked inside of the rice instead of placing it like this..? The ham could be at least cut. Xiaolongbao the taste was okay, but it was a bit raw inside and that made me question the safety aspect of eating it. About service and communication: I went inside and tried to solve this issue with the workers, instead they involved other customer who was helping them, because he eats there often. That is okay, because there was a language barrier as the workers spoke Dutch. Even though the customer was diplomatic in solving this issue, the worker was clearly mad at us and with a high tone, almost screaming, asked other customer “ Do you think its cold? Do you think its raw? it is not, do you think…? “ and the customer had to touch the food and see to check if I am right, not to mention - I was. I had an issue, I wanted to clarify this situation, instead I got yelled at and there were no actions taken. Additionally, their concerns about me trying to get free food after I did not even eat more than 3 bites, was disrespectful. Place itself: It was an outside table and the worker cleaned it with bare hand to get the leftovers from the table away, not using a cloth. There are definitely better places to have a dinner.

Leuk terras met vriendelijke hardwerkende dame maar het restaurant is niet aan te bevelen. Onze bon zegt trouwens restaurant kwang tung dus iets anders.

Het beste chinese restaurant van Leiden. Heel oud, heel smal en heel leuke mensen. En vraagt u ook even of de koolloempia's terug mogen op het menu.

Delicious food, nice terrace, excellent service!

Spent a day in Leiden for the first time. By chance we ended up on the terrace where we were served very quickly and friendly. Pretty hungry, so keep eating. Had a great time sitting and eating. These people know their trade. Excellent white wine and everything reasonably priced. Nice that a bowl of prawn crackers was served with the drink.

Tasty food and fast service. Also lots of choice with diet. Just ask.

Stopped by for a quick dinner due to the quite high ratings. Unfortunately the food was really not that great. Maybe I just ordered the wrong items, but the „fried“ noodles tasted like they‘ve gone off. The main was not bad but also didn‘t taste like much. 1 Extra star for the very friendly staff!

Very small restaurant. I think room for 40 people. Friendly and smooth service. Food is very tasty, good portion and for a reasonable price.

Don’t order the rijsttafel. It’s not a rijsttafel, just a plate with different dishes running into one another. Other reviews might tell you what they have that is good or great though.

We were vacationing and staying in Leiden as a venture point to explore Brussels and Amsterdam. My daughter decided on Chinese food and picked this restaurant on a whim. We both agreed that it was the best Chinese food either of us had ever eaten. We chose the meal/menu option with Beef and Broccoli, fried prawn and chicken and vegetables. We also started with Bao and Shumei and crispy wontons. Everything was cooked very well. The wontons and prawn fry were light and crispy, unlike much of the fried Chinese food in the States. Service was top notch with no language issues (we were limited to English). They used plate warmers at the table which was another nice touch. All in all, 10 stars out of 10 for us. Small old Chinese restaurant that I, as a born/raised Leiden resident, only recently visited for the first time. And I now know: the next time won't be so long in coming. The food is more traditional Chinese and I really liked it.

Had dinner here with a group of friends. The place is quite tiny inside but lots of tables outside. The food was absolutely amazing... We ordered different items from across the menu and every dish was delicious. The service was professional and super friendly and accommodating. Overall a great experience... Would highly recommend.

Best Chinese restaurant I’ve tried in Netherlands so far. Better than the ones in Amsterdam. The owner was very friendly and warm. Food was fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend it if someone goes to Leiden.

It took 2 hours to serve a noodle. Unfortunately taste of it wasn't different than ones sold in the markets.

Lekkerste indonesisch wat we ooit gegeten hebben echt super lekker! Personeel was ook erg vriendelijk en gastvrij. Als we weer in Leiden zijn komen we hier zeker terug!

Heerlijk eten, hele vriendelijke bediening. Voor afhalen goed. Het restaurant is heel klein en niet modern, maar daar smaakte ook het eten hier niet minder om.

Super gezellig zeker als het mooi weer is om op het gezellige terras te eten en drinken.

Due to the location we thought itd be "tourist oriented" food. Not at all. Good Chinese food and even better service. Totally recommend it.

Ik kom zelf hier al 12 jaar en ik vind dit een van de beste Chinezen restaurants waar ik heb gegeten. Het is goed bereid en klaar gemaakt met veel liefde. De eigenaresse is erg vriendelijk en kijkt altijd met u mee als er plek is voor je. Daardoor een top plek om te eten

Very Chinese family place. Food is awesome. The owners are very helpful friendly and attentive. There is huge selection including but not limited by different soups (small plates), dumplings, noodles. There are course of meals for two. Some wok dishes are served on the individua hot plates heated by candles. Good selection of beers including non alcoholic ones. No Chinese beers, though. Helpings mostly small to midsize. Many are served with rise and noodles on the side.

Fantastisch eten, lieve mensen, nette prijzen. Tip: Tipan ossenhaas. Ook fijn om af te halen.

Was really surprised and disappointed after reading all the good reviews, to have such bad food. Everything we had was completely bland and tasteless. Service wasn't really attentive either, despite us being the only two people in. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

We didn’t realise this was an Asian restaurant, we just sat down at a table for a cold drink on a hot day! The menu arrived and we chose about four starter plates for lunch. The Dim Sim was really nice. Friendly service and and a cold Coke. Top marks!

Stopped by myself for an early dinner at 6. The service was great as was the food! Extensive menu, hard to choose! I had vegetable spring rolls and the spicy cashew chicken. I recommend them both!
