We had a wonderful experience at Woo Ping! The food was absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed every dish. The service was excellent and the staff were incredibly kind, welcoming and attentive. We truly appreciated the warm atmosphere and hospitality. Definitely a place we would love to visit again!

Just a little bit better than the average Chinese restaurant.

I had expected more. The flavors were bland and monotonous. That applied to the peanut sauce as well. The foe yong hai contained no vegetables. The spring rolls were tasty, though. Are we going to do it again? The answer is no.

We let ourselves be surprised by the chef's menu. We had a delicious meal with tasty starters and many delicious main courses. We used to come here often many years ago, and now we are back at Woo Ping and it was a real treat, with friendly and attentive service.

The restaurant is somewhat hidden away on a side street, but it's still easy to find and get to. The staff is friendly, the menu is extensive, and the decor is really lovely. We also enjoyed the food. Overall, it's a great place to eat with friends, family, or colleagues. 😊

We dined here with 11 people for the birthday of my 86-year-old mother, who has been coming here since she was 17 or 18. We were completely spoiled and the food was delicious! Thank you very much, my mother thought it was fantastic (and so did we!)

Unfortunately, I ordered very old, dry, black babbi pangang. What a waste.

It was amazing. Everything was very tasty. Gyozas were perfect they came very hot. I was feeling a bit cold so I took spicy and sour soup and that was the best decision I could make because it was very delicious and comforting. The noodle soup also came in a very big portion and was really flavorful. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were great, and we really enjoyed our meal. Definitely a place I would recommend and a place that I will come again to try new food.

We were there months ago, and the person who served us still remembered how much we liked the eggplant dish. We ordered a vegan rijsttafel for 3 people. It was amazing again. And indeed, the eggplant dish was included again.

I can confidently say that I have had the best Chinese rijsttafel ever. A chef’s special with dishes you wouldn’t expect. An unprecedented drunken Szechuan bowl and everything that goes with it. Great service and atmosphere. Until next time!

Howww??? When i ordered it said could take up to 30-45min. Which is fine right? I dont mind ill wait 11minutes... It took them 11minutes after ordering before they were at my door?! 10/10 Food is also great. And because theyre so fast its still boiling hot🤣 Would definitely order here again

The last time I ate here, I was still studying in Leiden. Now, years later, I can happily confirm that the quality still holds up. To be honest, the interior looks a bit dated. But don't let that put you off at all! What comes out of the kitchen here truly makes up for everything. The food was simply delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. It is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Leiden for a reason. Highly recommended for a nostalgic visit!

Very good chinese restaurant. My beef with chop soy was great and delicate. Well prepared meat and vegetables with perfect rice. Everything was served with hot plate so it was easy to enjoy eating it slowly & longer.

The best Chinese restaurant in Leiden! We arrived a bit late after the football match, but they were very welcoming and accommodating to our dinner requests. The food was top-notch as usual, thank you very much!

I received a voucher for a nice meal. I picked up a menu and was really looking forward to it. The satay absolutely did not taste like chicken. What did? No idea. The peanut sauce also had an indistinct taste. Foe Jong Hay consisted of nothing but eggs with a tasteless red sauce. Babi Pangang was okay, but unfortunately there was very little sauce. Tjap Tjoy consisted of vegetables, and we got the impression that the vegetables were not fresh. All in all, a disappointment.

When eating here we felt so welcome. It was such a comfortable environment. The food was absolutely amazing. The staff was extremely nice and the food arrived fast. If I could give more then 5 stars I would! Also we got a big basket with candy at the end. Also they all speak Dutch which really surprised me! Apparently they have been serving Chinese food here for 74 years already!!

When we told them we were vegan, the staff very kindly offered us a full off-the-menu selection of vegan items- four different dishes including vegan protein, tofu, vegetables, and even a plate of bao! The food was so delicious. We were very pleased and the hosting was lovely and homely. I’d definitely come again!

Spending a day as tourists in Leiden, we discovered this Chinese restaurant by chance. We had a delicious meal, and the service was prompt and friendly.

This Chinese restaurant in Leiden was a delightful surprise! The food was authentic and the portions were generous. We ordered a lot of dishes for several people, and every single one was delicious, especially the hot dishes and roasted meats. In the evening, we enjoyed quite a bit of Mei Kwei Lu (rose liqueur), which created a lively atmosphere. The staff remained friendly and patient throughout. The restaurant had a comfortable ambiance, perfect for gatherings with friends. In the end, we were all extremely satisfied; it was a truly enjoyable and satisfying dinner. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food in Leiden, I would definitely recommend this place!

Fried rice was actually good nice and fluffy, not greasy at all. Just felt a bit bland. They’ve got soy sauce on the table so you can fix it yourself, but the bottle was basically empty… like a few drops left. That’s something they really need to stay on top of. Bok choy chicken was the same story. Everything cooked properly, chicken juicy, veggies fresh, but it just didn’t hit. Needed more flavor, felt under-seasoned. Overall you can tell they know how to cook, just missing that extra punch and attention to small details.

So, this restaurant has been around for 75 years. We used to eat there occasionally during the time we lived in Leiden until 2007. And today, we did it again. We had delicious Peking duck with a spicy sauce that brought tears to my eyes, but it was all fine and also very affordable. Nice people there too!

We had dinner on a very busy evening with many Scratch participants, so the restaurant was packed. But the food was delicious and the service was very friendly. We were ready in plenty of time to participate in Scratch again in the Pieterskerk!

Decent Indo-chinese food. We got the combination meal, which was a good deal to try out different dishes. The babi pangang was underwhelming, but the beef stew was good. Filling meal and there were some sweet desserts at the end.

We ordered a Cantonese course for two, and whil the delicery was fast and there's a lot of food, the food itself is not good. Tasteless and greasy. This is not a good Chinese food restaurant.

A Chinese restaurant, very old-fashioned yet also updated with dishes from Asian cuisines outside of China. We used to go here as students (40 years ago), and after all that time, we wanted to see what the restaurant had become. We certainly weren't disappointed. You hear about Chinese restaurants that don't keep up with the times, but thankfully, that hasn't happened here. You can get the "typical" Dutch-Chinese dishes, but also many other, more original options. Our choice was very tasty. The food is still affordable, and the service was quick and very friendly.

Wow, what happened to Woo Ping? I was used to quality, but it's become so mediocre. A year and a half ago it was great, now it's small portions, mediocre flavors, and expensive! 7.50 for a large beer, before that we were in the North End, and paid 7.00 for a pint of craft beer. No more Woo Ping! What a dramatic decline for this once-special Chinese restaurant.

After 60 years, I returned to Woo Ping with my family. It was a great experience. The food was delicious. Attentive, friendly, and fast service, despite the restaurant being busy. Definitely worth a return visit!

Saturday we had another meal at Woo Ping in the shop, the Chinese tomato soup was very tasty, main course beef tenderloin with nasi, ordered 1 large portion of nasi, just enough for 2 people, then a nice dessert and to finish a cappuccino, in short, very good here, I will definitely come back for dinner with friends.

5 starts because I can’t give more. The whole dinner has been over the top! As soon as we entered, the team already let us feeling home, and they let us accommodate immediately. The host of the restaurant was very kind helping us with the jackets, while we were settling down. They brought us some complimentary chips together with the menu, which were spicy and crispy. The menu is not very clear to understand if you’re not super familiar with Asian cuisine. We were taking quite long to understand the menu, while the host came to us and asked us if we were ready to order. We expressed our difficulty and she said she would arrange something for us. There were a lot of vegetarian options, and the chef gave us a taste of different plates, which were superb! The dishes were full of flavor, really over the top, the waiters super kind, and the whole atmosphere was nice and relaxing. I would came back here for sure! One of the best Asian restaurants I’ve been in the last few years!

I'd already given them 4 stars through their app, but I'll go back on that since I hadn't tried everything yet... I ordered the festive menu and, including the Chinese noodles, spent almost €50. More than the competition, but oh well... The delivery driver was very friendly. But otherwise, what a disappointment. The Chinese noodles consisted of 30% bean sprouts. What nonsense! Very cheap vegetables, but they charged €2.75 extra. Absolutely not tasty. Beef tenderloin in pepper sauce; you could smell the pepper from a meter away. Not good. The foe yong hai was literally just egg! Bizarre, not even vegetables or anything, tasteless. The babi pangang bacon was okay, but the sauce that came with it had hardly any flavor. The satay was meh, but the peanut sauce was also flavorless. Unbelievable. First and last time.

I’ll admit I got delivery, so the high rating for atmosphere is because the pictures look good. But I can tell you for sure that the food and the service were first rate. I learned to love Chinese food in New York City, and this is like the very best Cantonese from there. Fresh ingredients, just enough bold flavors when you want them, and perfect Chinese food comfort when you crave it. Kudos and high recommendations.

Confused as to why this restaurant has so many positive reviews... Ordered a 1 person meal through JustEat, the following dishes: -Foo young hai, tasteless and bland -Koo lu Yuk, was okay -Chicken Kerrie, not balanced, weird taste -Mihoen, way too much tauge, pieces of egg shell. -Pisang Goreng, soft and salty(?) Never ordering here again, would not recommend.

Ordered and had it delivered here for the first time. Despite the 44-minute delivery time, the doorbell rang after just 16! We had the monthly special. Everything was at the right temperature. The FoeYongHai was a bit different than I'm used to, but still delicious. Babi Pangang isn't my favorite; I've had it crispier. And I'd like more prawn crackers. But overall, I was quite satisfied, and the price was reasonable for what you get on the menu. [I don't know the atmosphere, as we weren't in the restaurant.]

The food was served without love. The satay had no grill, let alone charcoal, but consisted of stewed chicken on a stick, dripping in ready-made peanut sauce, barely warm. Gado gado consisted only of bean sprouts, doused in the same sauce. The spring rolls were fried very greasy, more dough than filling. Tasteless noodles. No soy sauce, salt, or sambal on the table; you have to ask for them. The staff is friendly, asking three times how it tastes but not waiting for an answer. The restaurant focuses primarily on quick bites; within 45 minutes, including ice cream, you're out the door. Plenty of calories, but not satisfying in terms of taste.

The place is welcoming, the staff efficient and helpful, the food good, for spicy dishes it would be appropriate to ask the customer the level of spiciness desired: we, who are used to eating with chili pepper, were unable to consume one of the dishes chosen, which was incredibly spicy.

Had a meal here as part of a large party of over 40. We had an understandable wait of about an hour, for the food to arrive, but the staff were attentive and made sure we had drinks. Food was very good considering the quantity produced.

Overall, I can say we ate well. We had the chef's menu and a typical Chinese menu. 32 euros per person, drinks not included. The staff was very friendly. As soon as you leave Spain, you know prices are high; for me, this one is a bit pricey, but you don't leave hungry, and if there's leftover food, they'll give it to you to take away. The atmosphere is average, not modern or chic, leaning towards traditional and old-fashioned, but fine. If you like Chinese food, it's very good.

Woo Ping’s is such a special place. The decor is elegant snd contemporary stylish, but there is a true gezellig feeling that seems like you are right at home. The owner seems to always be present, making sure her guests feel cozy and have a top notch experience. I had the pleasure of asking her about the restaurant and she told me her family had owned Woo Ping for 50 years! She is the 3rd in the family to run it. Now I understand why her pride shines through in every aspect of this place. The food is delicious, staff outstanding and Woo Ping’s is often open when other Dutch restaurants are gescholten. We are happy to have them in our neighborhood and hope they hang around for another 50 years.

I don’t live in Leiden, but man… do I like this place! Been there around 8 times. Excellent food. Some dishes prepared with sichuan pepper, with makes the tongue feel electrified. I don’t know any other chinese restaurants in The Netherlands that do so. Yesterday I was fortunate to eat there with a Chinese friend. Somehow that made the food taste even better. It could ‘ve been the added atmosphere, so don’t stay away if you have no Chinese friends: Woo Ping is always excellent. Woo Ping deserves an honourary doctorate from Leiden University, for bringing so much joy for so long to the Leiden people.

The food was incredibly delicious and the service was excellent. The staff were friendly, and the food was served very quickly and was of high quality. We were extremely satisfied and thoroughly enjoyed our evening!

Our first time at Woo Ping. We received a very warm welcome, and everyone was super friendly. I don't eat gluten, and I'd heard I could get good gluten-free food here. We were told almost everything (except the appetizers, as much of it was fried) was available. I ate Chinese food I hadn't had in years! It was also absolutely delicious. We couldn't finish it all and were given the option to take it home with extra rice, which wasn't on the bill. So sweet, and this is now my new favorite Chinese restaurant in the Netherlands!

However, it is pricey and the portions are small.
