The food and the atmosphere are great. The only issue is that staff should wear gloves when serving food to avoid touching it, which happened to us but it was minor

I went there based on good reviews; it was nice but not delicious, just average. I don't know, maybe because the standard of Indian restaurants here is high, I just felt it wasn't that great.

Such a nice place with very lovely workers. They provide vegan food without a problem and everything looks and tastes amazing. If anything, more vegan naan options and dishes with tofu would be great. The decoration is chef’s kiss! Pleasure to be there anytime i visit Amsterdam.

One of the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever tasted

One of the great Indian Vegetarian food!!! We tried chilli paneer, Chana masala, paratha and mango lassi. They also served complementary pappodams to start with, which we really liked as a service. Chilli paneer was a bit sweet but the overall flavour was good, Chana masala as we asked extra spicy, so was as such, it comes with complementary rice, which is again nice. Mango lassi was also great, not that sweet like can be found in other places. The atmosphere was really cozy and start was very polite and nice- overall we enjoyed our anniversary dinner. The location was also great, near to city centre. Highly recommend!!

Ashoka has been a household name for years, and you can taste the difference. I started with onion bhaji, which was crispy and well-seasoned. For my main course, I chose lamb rogan josh, which was full of flavor, with tender meat and a rich sauce. The naan arrived warm and fluffy. The service was friendly and relaxed. It's not a trendy place, but it does serve excellent Indian food.

When I booked, I had to pay a deposit of ten euros per person. It must be the big city. Afterward, I received an email saying I could use the table for an hour and a half. That would be another hurdle for me. With 10 people in 90 minutes, that's going to be a challenge. The staff is super fun and friendly. The food is fantastic. We had the wine pairing, which includes wine. It wasn't entirely clear why this particular wine complemented this course. Highly recommended; the 90-minute time limit wasn't mentioned at all. We had a lovely, cozy meal and were able to relax. You really have to go here!

I absolutely loved Ashoka! First of all, the ambient is gorgeous! Very spacious and comfortable. Service was great too. I arrived without a reservation and they found a way to accommodate us. Finally, the food. The salted and mango lassi were good. The paneer with spinach and the daal were rich, creamy and tasty. Samosa was great, but I think my favorite was the plain naan. Not oily at all, just perfect. I really liked this place and I will definitely come back. Also, so close to the Centraal Station! A must-try if you are around :)

The best Indian restaurant we've tried so far. We're both vegetarians, and the dishes are delicious and refined. I usually order the same dish to compare the different Indian restaurants I've visited, and the paneer butter masala at THIS restaurant is by far the best! And I've had the chance to try it in Seoul, Seattle, Luxembourg… I also recommend the chili paneer and the chili edamame as appetizers—a delight! Their naans are also fantastic! The service is incredibly attentive, and the setting is beautiful! A restaurant of exceptional quality!

Nice atmosphere, but the veggie biryani was merely so-so, especially for the price. Or I got spoiled by dum biryani marinated and baked in a clay pot. Gobi 65 was very tasty, though! I found the spice level thing a bit tedious. The spiciness should match the dish. For example, I'd expect the Biryani to be more spicy than the Gobi. For me "well spiced" doesn't equate to "more chili". Otoh I can understand that the restaurant has to cater to a range of preferences, so maybe the 1-5 rating is the easiest way.

The place is very beautiful, well-decorated, and the atmosphere is super welcoming and warm. The food is good; it's best to go with four people so you can sample multiple dishes.

The food was delicious. We had a reservation, but it wasn't confirmed, and a reservation was required, but we still got in. If you make a reservation, you pay a deposit, and it's deducted from the bill. The staff were very friendly. The chicken biryani was good; the chicken was plentiful and delicious. The butter masala chicken was also good in quantity, but the sauce was minimal, though still delicious. The vegetable samosas were just okay. We ordered two soft drinks and then two teas. The bill came to approximately 78 euros. The prices are good.

The food was delicious. I ordered vegetable biryani (containing broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes, and cheese), chicken butter and masala (which comes with plain white rice), chili tikka, and vegetable samosas. The service was good, but you need to make a reservation before you come.

The most famous restaurant in Amsterdam ✨ A halal Nepalese Indian restaurant offering a diverse selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian dishes. The service was very fast and excellent, from check-in to check-out. All the waiters were respectful and quick to serve, especially the one who took our order; he was wonderful, spoke Arabic, and was very helpful. Our order was: Butter Chicken Karahi Chicken Tandoori Chicken Biryani Rice Vegetable Samosa The great thing is that each stew came with a side of white rice. The food was delicious, except we didn't like the Butter Chicken; it needs improvement, and there was very little chicken. The Karahi and Tandoori were absolutely amazing. The prices are high, of course, but it's worth it. The ambiance, location, and service are all fantastic. Definitely worth a visit.

The place is classy and has no smell. The person who received us was very classy and we entered without a reservation. Even the workers were nice. The food is good and the portions are good. We ordered biryani, tikka jelly, and yogurt with each dish, and white rice comes with the tikka.

I recently visited this Indian restaurant and was blown away by almost everything! The atmosphere was super cozy, which I loved. I’m giving it 5 stars because the Lam Beryani and Chicken Biryani were absolutely divine – 10/10 for sure! The only thing I didn’t personally enjoy was the sambosa; they just weren’t to my taste, but hey, one person at my table loved them! Someone else suggested they might be better without the brown sauce. Overall, an amazing experience and highly recommended

I'd recommend the best Indian restaurant in Amsterdam. I ordered delicious lamb dumplings, medium-sized masala, medium-sized tandoori chicken, and a nice lamb biryani, but there was more lamb than rice. Overall, the restaurant was lovely and the service was excellent.

The atmosphere is nice, but reservations are required, and the staff are helpful. The food is average, less flavorful than the Indian food we're used to. We ordered external chili, and the food was just okay, not spicy. Would I go back? No.

Nice nepali restaurant *halal*. The gobi 65 is a nice spicy surprise of flavour. I had no reservations but they accomodated us and friendly friendly staff. The food overall was ok. Ambience was very cozy.

The location was great right in the middle of Central Station and Dam Square. We were in Amsterdam for only one night. We landed here for dinner without reservation not realizing that it was Saturday night. It was totally packed and the staff politely told us it was not possible to get a table. However when we met owner and requested him, he managed to give us a table. Thanks a lot. We started with a glass of Dumanet Reserve Chardonnay and Chivas Regal 18 years old whiskey. In main course we had Palak Paneer and Dal Tadka with rice. The food was very delicious. In desert we had Rasmalai, very yummy. The décor and ambiance was top class. The service was impeccable. Though it was packed, still there was sufficient servers to look after guests. It was little expensive but it deserved it. Worth visiting...

Very cozy place, we were warmly welcomed and ordered lovely Gin Tonics by the clever bartender at the bar while we waited for our table. The food tasted delicious, and everyone who served us was very service-minded and nice. We had butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. Recommended! Remember to reserve a table!

The restaurant is definitely a treat to the eyes. But it's definitely not worth the price. Neither is their service nor is the ambiance. The tables are very closely spaced and hence loud too. Some of the staff members were polite, while some were quite the opposite. They take forever to serve you the food, claiming it's made fresh. They messed up with our orders as well. Some dishes tasted good. And, it was certainly not a bad experience, but it didn't justify the price we paid.
