It was really tasty and we were as a group class there with our teachers and it was there really good 10/10

This is our favourite restaurant to go to when we visit Amsterdam. The food is always delicious! Small cozy atmosphere is always nice as well!

I am vegetarian and was looking for some good Indian comfort food after a long day of walking and visiting all the tourist spots. This place hit the spot - would recommend getting palak paneer (spicy) with garlic naan!

Ordered from Uber Eats, and the in house delivery didn’t arrive, the store closed during my delivery, meaning I couldn’t contact anyone to inquire on my order status and order was 40€…

It was good food and a good atmosphere! Løkjøk aprroved! They had gluten free and vegetarian and it was good! Very good come here if you want good Indian food! (Plus Løkjøk has been here so you know it will be good!) :)

Best Indian food in the Jordaan

This was the best butter chicken of my entire life. The peshwari naan was also amazing and they were so chill about our two (well behaved) dogs being in the restaurant with us. The restaurant is very small but absolutely worth it. Get it to go if you can't get a seat!

The service was horrible. The waiter is rude and never smiles. The owner rushed through the payments and did not even ask if we anted dessert. It is loud like a typical student's restaurant, no ambience at all. Food ispatrons have been trestaurant.

I visited Amsterdam from Tanzania in December 2019, just before COVID. We found this restaurant by chance when another place had a long wait, and it turned out to be the best food experience of my trip. For four days straight, I came here every evening. Even on the day of my dinner cruise, I ate here first because I couldn't resist! The Masala Prawns were absolutely to die for. The spice level was perfect, just the way I like it. Whenever anyone tells me they're visiting Amsterdam, this is the one place I always recommend. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wonderful wonderful Indian food in the heart of Amsterdam.

Shah Jahan is a wonderful family owned Indian restaurant, conveniently located in the Jordaan neighbourhood of Amsterdam. The samosas were freshly prepared, served hot, and perfectly crispy. We also tried the Prawns Puri and absolutely loved it. Having enjoyed Prawns Puri at many places before, this version stood out for its authentic, homely flavour. The lamb biryani was good, and the mushroom sabji paired perfectly with their fresh, soft naan. The owner was warm, friendly, and very hospitable, making us feel truly welcome. Overall, it was a very satisfying dining experience, and we would love to visit again the next time we are in Amsterdam.

What a wonderful evening we had here. The atmosphere in the restaurant is incredibly pleasant, and every single dish looked beautiful. We were particularly impressed by the presentation of the food. The flavors were deep and very tasty; the fine strips of fresh ginger on the curry certainly completed it perfectly. Everything was served in beautiful, traditional metal bowls. It was a fantastic evening. We will definitely be back soon for another meal.

Would absolutely recommend for authentic delicious Indian food. I had the chicken jahl frezi & my partner had the mixed grill. We shared garlic cheese naan & rice. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I personally wished my dish had been spicier but it was only rated 3/5 on the heat scale. And they provided me with some spicy sauce on the side that I could add to it free of charge! We would love to return if staying longer in Amsterdam.

This is a wonderful restaurant quite close to Anne franks house.. The staff is very nice and helpful. The lady redid the butter chicken as it was too spicy for my son I really and sincerely appreciate it. The food was very tasty compared to the indian food we get in germany. Do order the popadums. Just one bad point was the KULFI. IT IS NOT MADE AT THE PLACE AND ATLEAST WHEN WE HAD IT WAS VERY BAD. Please dont order kulfi. The samosas were nice and standard may be reheated. The paneer butter maslaa was superb The butter chicken like I said my son just gobbled it up. The nans were fantastic as well. 4 nans+BC+PBM+SAMOSA+2MANGOLASSI+KULFI :( +POPADUMS= 69.50EUROS :O

We visited this restaurant two days ago, one of the members the (madrasi one) was very kind, welcoming, and respectful from the moment we arrived. However, the other staff member that was tall and had black hair was extremely rude and unprofessional. He spoke to us disrespectfully and even called us stupid from the Arab countries, which was completely unacceptable. Because of this behavior, our experience was ruined. I hope the restaurant takes this seriously and makes sure all customers are treated with respect.

This is now one of our favorite Indian restaurants of all time! It’s rare that a dish arrives at the table and you just know it’s going to taste exceptional before you even take a bite. The spice blend was amazing and I savored every bite. Likewise, my wife’s Chana masala was simmered to perfection and bursting with hearty flavor. We never expected Indian food to be a reason to visit Amsterdam, but it certainly is now.
