Visited this Indian restaurant tucked away in the cozy streets of Amsterdam and had a really nice evening. The location has a warm, neat ambiance that makes it a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy a meal. It wasn't crowded when we went, so we got attentive service and a relaxed atmosphere. We tried quite a few dishes: chicken wings, lamb chops tandoori, chicken biryani, rasmalai, mango lassi, pista kulfi, and garlic naan. The food was genuinely good across the board. The chicken wings and lamb tandoori chops were the absolute highlights — flavorful, well-spiced, and cooked just right. The pista kulfi was the standout dessert, creamy and authentic. The mango lassi was just okay, nothing special. A couple of honest notes: the biryani was tasty but could use a more generous portion. The garlic naan was more of a regular European-style bread rather than the traditional Indian tandoori naan, so keep that in mind if you're after the real deal. Overall a solid spot for authentic Indian flavors in central Amsterdam. Would recommend for the tandoori dishes alone — and save room for the pista kulfi. Will be coming back

Excellent restaurant and friendly service despite my booking error. The food is excellent and plentiful. Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I've tried (and I'm a big fan of Indian cuisine). The onion bhajis and samosas are delicious, and the chicken madras is superb. Don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed.

Delicious food and very friendly staff! They accommodated my celiac disease without any problems; I felt very safe, as the staff were well-informed. The selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes was also extensive.

Unfortunately, we did not like the food. With the poppedum, there was only one very small dipping sauce. The onion bhaji consisted of a number of small, mealy heaps (not the delicious crispy onion patties I expected), and the butterfly prawns were frozen appetizers that weren't even fried nicely. Main courses were greasy and not tasty. There was no choice of rice; no pilau rice, for example, just a bowl of boiled rice. The naan was okay. Furthermore, the Kingfisher beers (bottles) were served with small, greasy lemonade glasses, into which the foam disappeared immediately. It was all a shame, because we had been looking forward to a delicious Indian meal all day.

We spent a lot of time waiting to order/waiting for our food to arrive. We were treated very uncomfortably by the service as if we were a problem. The food was okay, not worth the price and the wait at all.

Probably the worst service I’ve had in Amsterdam. Waitress didn’t attend to us at all for 10 minutes while the restaurant was not crowded. Neither did. Once she did, it was almost like she was angry? Very unlike every other place I’ve been to here. They’d look at our table with empty glasses, etc and do nothing. Just stand six feet from us looking at it. I honestly loved the food. It came out quick and it was delicious. So it’s a shame that the service took my review down so far. Maybe order take out?

Very tasty food, but small portions.

First things first: the food is VERY tasty. Now, Some constructive critique: - the service is lackluster, waitresses seem unmotivated, uninterested. - I ordered popodoms, they brought them together with the starters. « Popppdoms are starters » said the waitress. Correct me if I’m wrong, but in te last 30 years I was served poppodoms right away, before they cook the starters. - portions are diminutive. OK, we are deep in the AMS tourist belt, but, at the prices charged, one piece of chicken and one spoon of rice costs them the same as in the outskirts. I left a tip, despite them charging for the popppdoms which I ordered -but refused as they arrived with my starter. Do either they are disorganized or dishonest. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be back, looking for another curry place next visit.

I had a very nice dinner in Cuisine of India. Stopped by a randomly, as I love to go out for dinner for Indian cuisine. I have never been to this place before and for sure I would like to come back because they offer also slightly different dishes than the rest. The service is really great, discreet, unobtrusive and nice. Though when full I am not sure about the speed of service as it was all done by one nice young lady. The food is also great, one star down for garlic naan, that doesn’t taste like a garlic naan. The dough is more like a pizza, there is almost no oil on top and the garlic taste is also very subtle, almost missing. It tastes more like a pizza cake with some garlic on top, but not as a garlic naan. Thank you for a nice dinner.

We have been getting takeout here every now and then for years, and it is always delicious! Every dish tastes equally good! We always order bread with it too, which is also delicious! For these prices, there really should be a bit more meat relative to the amount of sauce and rice.

Located at good location that's a plus. The lady serving at the counter and the girls are polite. I usually like this place but I had a weird experience today. The guy at counter charged me separately for raita taken with Biryani. It's weird because I very often eat here the same dish but never paid separately and it's unreal to serve it without one. When i highlighted the mistake the guy told me he's owners son and he never gives anything with Biryani. Worst he did not have the courtesy to even provide a plate and i ate in the serving plate. I find it funny but food is ultra expensive at this rate. I'm surprised with the attitude though. I am not confident i want to go here again.

This restaurant is highly recommended. We had a truly fantastic meal here. The dishes were authentically flavorful. I truly felt like I was in India. As a true food critic, I give this restaurant a solid 9 out of 10. I will definitely be back. And Amsterdammers should definitely eat here.

Entering the restaurant, and taking a seat, the energy seemed completely off. We were asked if we had reservation and we didn’t. We ordered hot water and they said they can’t give hot water as they only serve tea. So she’ll charge for tea and give me only water. We also ordered mango lassi and the server spilt it while placing it down. The manager lady came to our table to wipe it, and she asked “do you want to order another one?”, assuming we had split it, without even asking what happened first. And inspite of telling her it was us, she said “I think it was you”. During the whole meal we were rushed to eat and the waiter came to give us the bill before even our dinner was done. Worst dining experience ever!

Just made an order to pick-up food. On the website it is mentioned that you get a 20% discount for picking up. When I arrived at the restaurant they didn’t want to give me the discount that was mentioned, and only 10% if I paid with cash

Lamb vindaloo was spicy and delicious - Great Indian food!

We were excited to have some authentic Indian food and we found this establishment close to the centre. Some of the food was good (naan, paneer) while biriyani was bad (just rice mixed with masala - certainly not authentic) Other than the food itself, the main issue I had was that they said they did not serve tap water and charged us 20 euros for a bottle of water - the reason given was that some people were allergic to tap water so they did not serve it.. imagine this in Netherlands where quality of tap water is high. While I understand the need to generate extra business from bottled water, 20 euros charge was unacceptable. Just a small warning to the future consumers who come here so you can be aware. Thank you.

My husband and I were looking for authentic Indian cuisine and he found the right spot! The Lamb Madras was sooo good! It’s spicy enough that you can feel the heat, but not so spicy that you can’t eat it — the heat level was perfect, I’d give it an 8/10 (in case you can’t handle very spicy food). Great food and great service! Highly recommend!

Very disappointing food: the starters were flavourless and very poorly presented for their price. Not everything was served together: we had to wait for naan and for clean plates after the main course was set out. Lots of simple food and drink items from the menu were not available that evening and therefore I suspect the meal was not made fresh. For example: naan + garlic naan were available, but not peshwari naan, keema naan, etc.

There were a mixture of customers, some families and a couple with their new born. The music was a good level and we didn’t need to wait for a table. My two friends said their food (Chicken madras, lamb Kashmiri) was ok but ‘not the best they’ve had but my Lamb Biryani was quite clearly the worst I have ever eaten and you’ll need to trust me when I say I have eaten an lot of biriani, I could live on it. Soggy, under seasoned and with little lamb, no veg curry or raita was served with it so €22 for a main dish the size of a side or starter was a bit steep but to then not serve something with it and then charge for the raita when asked took the biscuit. We have been here before and returned on the strength of that last visit. Maybe it was just an off night, the food took its time arriving so perhaps they were short handed and things weren’t going to plan. That doesn’t explain or excuse the poor service or the need to try and corral customers into paying cash with the threat of ‘transaction’ charges. What year are we in?? I haven’t had a transaction charge applied to payment in 20 years. Overpriced, poor quality, not sure the first visit would allow me to overlook the second so probably would not return.

Booked a bad restaurant through Fork. We had a lot of discussion and didn't get the 50% discount because I had to reschedule because someone was walking on the train tracks. They were extremely rude, and the portions were small for what you paid. Scammers! They then deleted our Fork reservation so I couldn't leave a review there!

Food quality excellent, quite a wait for the food but as other people have mentioned: the portions are just too small, even the rice portion. You might leave hungry (as we did)

The service was fine but Food was atrocious, the chicken curry had undercooked spices and too much salt. Chicken biryani had chicken pieces from chicken tandoori, and was again really didn't taste good (this was for my friend so even he found his bad). Mixed grill had chicken that was still red from inside.

absolutely INCREDIBLE indian food i promise you

Added coconut in the biriyani and when I complained about it the staff said it is our style of making biriyani. No aplogies whatsover. Very bad service and extremely bad food!

Lamb Biryani was tasty. Glad I bought the big bottle of water to counter the heat! Papadum was good, not oily.

We ended up stumbling across this place when we were desperate for food. And oh boy did they deliver. The food was great, a little pricey but that comes with the territory. Very good and authentic Indian food!

I recently visited Cuisine of India in Amsterdam and had high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and Dal Makhni and Naan. The paneer was extremely hard and lacked the softness you’d expect from a freshly made dish. The overall flavor was quite bland, and both dishes didn’t have the richness or authentic taste I was hoping for. Service was okay, but when it comes to food — which is the heart of any Indian restaurant — it just didn’t deliver. Hoping the quality improves in the future.

Simply the worst. Horrible service! Scam! Avoid at all costs. I bet they will try to take down my review and say that they have no record of me coming to their restaurant. I came under my friend’s name so you would not have my name.

It was a good Indian Restaurant in Amsterdam. Very near ( walkable ) from Amsterdam Centraal. I took spicy dal tadka and rice, the serving person helped in choosing between vegan and regular food. The food was great. The person serving was also good, but I think he could have smiled and greeted the guests in better way. Overall it’s good value for money, nice and tasty food. I also got to drink Indian Chai there , I have to tell I liked it as I was having sore throat, the ingredients in that Chai ( tea ) helped me a bit. I actually asked for a glass of hot water, not the hotel guy told they can not give it and asked me if I can buy Indian Chai, which was at the end worth the money.

I had veg biriyani (medium spicy) and it was very tasty, it was served on time and we did not have to wait. Thank you for good food and services.

Wonderful food and exceptional service

We have been travelling different countries and different Indian restaurants and then reached to Amsterdam. We were looking for authentic Indian taste in Europe. Finally we reached to this place and believe me, its the most authentic taste we have got so far. There might be others too but we were quite happy and satisfied with the food quality, service and ambience. We have mentioned this multiple times to owner too. Good part is even after appreciating so many times and informing them that your food taste is so good but still not in the top of the google recommendations but still they didn't ask to write review like we have been asked by many hotels.😊 We tried the vegetarian Menu for 2 which includes Samosa, Saag paneer, mix veg and the most authentic home made mango kulfi (all time favorite). Food was good but quantity was quite less and a bit spicy than expected. Paneer quality was not so good. We expected a better quality. Mango Lassi was also average! Pricing seems average compared to local standards and location.

Authentic Indian food (spice level is authentic) and excellent service !

We had a table for 5 people. The reservation worked great and the staff was very accommodating. The food was delicious, we tried some appetizers - all to recommend. And the main courses were also good, only the rice was too little for 5 people. Payment in cash and by card.

The food was devine. Tandoori chicken  was the best I ever had. Chicken vindaloo and prawn curry were to die for. Friendly and efficient service.  Look forward to my next visit!

Ordered online for delivery, and I had to write a review because the Butter Chicken was honestly the best I have ever had. It was so flavorful, perfectly portioned, and just overall wonderful. In fact, all the food ordered was incredibly tasty. On top of this the service and friendliness of the restaurant both on call and delivery were so great. I will definitely have to eat with this restaurant again.

To be honest the food was very tasty and I asked for another desert. The service was good but please clean the tables between the meals and give additional knives and forks. The ambience was really nothing to be proud of. You come here to have good Indian food but that’s it.

Delicious! Just ordered delivery from here for the first time, and the food was way beyond my expectations. Great spice blends and balance, with choice of mild or spicy per every dish I wanted to order. I am a foodie that has travelled extensively in India and as far as I am able to judge this is absolutely authentic cuisine. Prices are more than fair for the generous portions. I'll absolutely be back.
