Cuisine of India in Nieuwmarkt/Lastage

Very disappointing food: the starters were flavourless and very poorly presented for their price. Not everything was served together: we had to wait for naan and for clean plates after the main course was set out. Lots of simple food and drink items from the menu were not available that evening and therefore I suspect the meal was not made fresh. For example: naan + garlic naan were available, but not peshwari naan, keema naan, etc.

There were a mixture of customers, some families and a couple with their new born. The music was a good level and we didn’t need to wait for a table. My two friends said their food (Chicken madras, lamb Kashmiri) was ok but ‘not the best they’ve had but my Lamb Biryani was quite clearly the worst I have ever eaten and you’ll need to trust me when I say I have eaten an lot of biriani, I could live on it. Soggy, under seasoned and with little lamb, no veg curry or raita was served with it so €22 for a main dish the size of a side or starter was a bit steep but to then not serve something with it and then charge for the raita when asked took the biscuit. We have been here before and returned on the strength of that last visit. Maybe it was just an off night, the food took its time arriving so perhaps they were short handed and things weren’t going to plan. That doesn’t explain or excuse the poor service or the need to try and corral customers into paying cash with the threat of ‘transaction’ charges. What year are we in?? I haven’t had a transaction charge applied to payment in 20 years. Overpriced, poor quality, not sure the first visit would allow me to overlook the second so probably would not return.

Booked a bad restaurant through Fork. We had a lot of discussion and didn't get the 50% discount because I had to reschedule because someone was walking on the train tracks. They were extremely rude, and the portions were small for what you paid. Scammers! They then deleted our Fork reservation so I couldn't leave a review there!

Really enjoyed the prawn kashmiri!

Food quality excellent, quite a wait for the food but as other people have mentioned: the portions are just too small, even the rice portion. You might leave hungry (as we did)

Everything was perfect. My food was the best indian food I ever had, the personal is very friendly and the ambience is also very good. So in my option it's a 10/10

Kulcha and dal makhani was delicious and the right level of spicy. Rice which accompanies the gravies could be better

The service was fine but Food was atrocious, the chicken curry had undercooked spices and too much salt. Chicken biryani had chicken pieces from chicken tandoori, and was again really didn't taste good (this was for my friend so even he found his bad). Mixed grill had chicken that was still red from inside.

Lovely meal and service. Good quality food but portion size could be better.

We had a fantastic meal today. Very pleasant service and excellent food. Butter chicken, mixed grill, and a few appetizers. We'll be back. And soon, too...

absolutely INCREDIBLE indian food i promise you

Added coconut in the biriyani and when I complained about it the staff said it is our style of making biriyani. No aplogies whatsover. Very bad service and extremely bad food!

Lamb Biryani was tasty. Glad I bought the big bottle of water to counter the heat! Papadum was good, not oily.

We ended up stumbling across this place when we were desperate for food. And oh boy did they deliver. The food was great, a little pricey but that comes with the territory. Very good and authentic Indian food!

I recently visited Cuisine of India in Amsterdam and had high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and Dal Makhni and Naan. The paneer was extremely hard and lacked the softness you’d expect from a freshly made dish. The overall flavor was quite bland, and both dishes didn’t have the richness or authentic taste I was hoping for. Service was okay, but when it comes to food — which is the heart of any Indian restaurant — it just didn’t deliver. Hoping the quality improves in the future.

Simply the worst. Horrible service! Scam! Avoid at all costs. I bet they will try to take down my review and say that they have no record of me coming to their restaurant. I came under my friend’s name so you would not have my name.

The restaurant is below average, the service is very bad, the food is not good, I honestly do not recommend it, I mean the other options are much better, especially since their service is bad on top of all this. And the wait for the food is long.. I will not come back for sure

It was a good Indian Restaurant in Amsterdam. Very near ( walkable ) from Amsterdam Centraal. I took spicy dal tadka and rice, the serving person helped in choosing between vegan and regular food. The food was great. The person serving was also good, but I think he could have smiled and greeted the guests in better way. Overall it’s good value for money, nice and tasty food. I also got to drink Indian Chai there , I have to tell I liked it as I was having sore throat, the ingredients in that Chai ( tea ) helped me a bit. I actually asked for a glass of hot water, not the hotel guy told they can not give it and asked me if I can buy Indian Chai, which was at the end worth the money.

Dined at Cuisine of India recently and was pleasantly surprised by the flavorful dishes — authentic spices, well-balanced curries, and freshly made naan that hit the spot. The service was also good — attentive and polite staff who made the experience smooth and enjoyable. The only downside? The prices are a bit on the higher side for what you get. Not outrageous, but definitely noticeable if you’re on a budget. Overall, a solid spot for satisfying Indian cravings with quality food and good service — just be ready to pay a little extra for it.

I had veg biriyani (medium spicy) and it was very tasty, it was served on time and we did not have to wait. Thank you for good food and services.

Wonderful food and exceptional service

We have been travelling different countries and different Indian restaurants and then reached to Amsterdam. We were looking for authentic Indian taste in Europe. Finally we reached to this place and believe me, its the most authentic taste we have got so far. There might be others too but we were quite happy and satisfied with the food quality, service and ambience. We have mentioned this multiple times to owner too. Good part is even after appreciating so many times and informing them that your food taste is so good but still not in the top of the google recommendations but still they didn't ask to write review like we have been asked by many hotels.😊 We tried the vegetarian Menu for 2 which includes Samosa, Saag paneer, mix veg and the most authentic home made mango kulfi (all time favorite). Food was good but quantity was quite less and a bit spicy than expected. Paneer quality was not so good. We expected a better quality. Mango Lassi was also average! Pricing seems average compared to local standards and location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. The food was delicious and prepared with great care - every course was a tasty surprise. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, perfect for a relaxing night out. What really stood out was the service: friendly, professional and always with a smile. Authentic Indian food (spice level is authentic) and excellent service !

We had a table for 5 people. The reservation worked great and the staff was very accommodating. The food was delicious, we tried some appetizers - all to recommend. And the main courses were also good, only the rice was too little for 5 people. Payment in cash and by card.

The food was devine. Tandoori chicken  was the best I ever had. Chicken vindaloo and prawn curry were to die for. Friendly and efficient service.  Look forward to my next visit!

A small hiden gem in the center of the city. The food and the service was very good. No loud music, you could really have a conversation with the rest of your party. Definitely going back.

Ordered online for delivery, and I had to write a review because the Butter Chicken was honestly the best I have ever had. It was so flavorful, perfectly portioned, and just overall wonderful. In fact, all the food ordered was incredibly tasty. On top of this the service and friendliness of the restaurant both on call and delivery were so great. I will definitely have to eat with this restaurant again.

To be honest the food was very tasty and I asked for another desert. The service was good but please clean the tables between the meals and give additional knives and forks. The ambience was really nothing to be proud of. You come here to have good Indian food but that’s it.

Delicious! Just ordered delivery from here for the first time, and the food was way beyond my expectations. Great spice blends and balance, with choice of mild or spicy per every dish I wanted to order. I am a foodie that has travelled extensively in India and as far as I am able to judge this is absolutely authentic cuisine. Prices are more than fair for the generous portions. I'll absolutely be back.

I highly recommend this Indian cuisine restaurant, especially the spicy dishes and for those who love spicy even very spicy. I personally booked with the fork and got a 50% discount on the total bill. Obviously drinks and menus are excluded from the promotion. The dining room staff is also very friendly and helpful.

Average food flavours, way too expensive for the food you get. You need to eat at home before coming. You get 5-6 spoons of food.

Expensive for the amount of food and drinks you get. The chicken soup is an instant soup/spice cube soup :( We paid €72 for two people.

Very tasty food and super friendly staff.

Picked up the chicken madras and it was tasty, after getting the place advised by guests of mine who where gluten free Americans. Wish they made things a bit more transparant though, the window/restaurant menu portions are a different size(so they told me), so different prize than the take away. Online order to pick up is 10% cheaper than just walking in for pick up what is plain weird tbh (I live 100 meters from the place). But I guess the family style restaurant is doing their best in a difficult location and the food is worth it, good indian should be cherished. Tip for the owners, get more involved with the neighborhood, restaurants in that street need a mix of locals, visitors and tourists to run well. all the best ps. Anne who got 50% discount on the food and wanted free water to match, how Dutch can you be? These people need to pay the rent as well.

We often order Indian food in Amsterdam. This is our favorite, they are always fast and the jalfrezi curry is the best in the whole city. Highly recommended!

A restaurant you see is sweet and delicious, but if you eat there, frankly, it is delicious in an unnatural way. By God, take it from me. Don't be fooled by appearances, the restaurant is nice and owned by an Indian family, meaning undisputed Indian food 😍😍

Authentic Indian food!! Exactly as you would get in India. Nice and friendly staff. Had paneer tikka masala, palak paneer and dal tadka. It’s been ages that I have had such tasty and authentic dal tadka. 👍

Although we didn’t know what to expect, the experience was amazing. Food was excellent, the service was super friendly and it seemed as a family business, with the atmosphere feeling like it was in India. King Fisher was available so that was great ;). Saag paneer was especially great with some garlic naan bread

A lovely setting with great decor and awesome vibes, and a very friendly waiter! Food was even better than the atmosphere and the service which says a lot!! Highly recommend if you’re looking for Indian food! (Also seemed to be one of the few Indian restaurants in the area that was open for lunch)

Maybe the best Indian food we've had anywhere. All the dishes were great. The Pashwari naan is really good with an excellent flavor. Service was fast and friendly.

The food was so tasty! Vega variants of butter chicken also great! Use paneer for a plant-based version. Naan bread well baked, many types of food all well prepared and some things spicy, others not. Service was also 👍🏻 small restaurant, not recommended for small children

Anil made our experience memorable, he was friendly and helpful. We tried the paneer tikka (nicely charred), lamb curry (best curry of the night), vegan daal makhani (delicious without the makhan too, reminiscent of excellent langar daal), and the soya chaap curry. It would be amazing if they start having some local beers on tap, those would go so well with the curries 🍻

The food was of excellent quality. I would especially recommend the pistachio ice cream. We ordered a 3-course menu for 2 people, but this was not really enough. There was only 1 bowl of rice and 1 naan, which is what you normally get for 1 person when you order a dish and also naan, so really not enough. There was also no flexibility from the staff in choosing dishes for this 3-course menu and that is a shame. So good quality food but overall I wouldn't go there again because it's not enough for 2 people and it's not worth the money. There is also no tap water served, which is a shame

We visited this place during our trip to Amsterdam in the first week of May. We were craving delicious Indian food, and a quick Google search showed this restaurant in the nearby area. When we entered, it gave us the vibe of an Indian restaurant. The menu had good food options. We tried the paneer kadhai and naan, and the taste was okay. It’s not as tasty as what we get in India.

You pay full price for a meal, but it comes in a small portion and without rice or bread. You have to buy rice or bread for about 5 euros extra. Mango lassi was terrible.

Located on a quiet, scenic alley that bridges the tourist world with that of the local folks, I’d have to dig for anything to complain about. I’ve had a couple dinners here in a few nights. Mixed grill, Lamb Tikka Sag, Chicken Tikka Masala…all top flight. Would do again. Thank you Cuisine of India.
