Definitely a must go when in Rotterdam! The food was delightful, favorites were the watermelon, cod, Iberico and gambas! Compliments to chef Ben for the amazing food! Service from Katarina and James were also great :)

Ayla's new menu is fab. 10/10 recommend. Dishes that I recommend are the duck, iberico pork, watermelon, gambas & cod. Chef Ben is sooo talented and Catarina was such a friendly server!

Came to try the new menu and it was amazzingggg! The food was unreal, especially the duck, iberico, watermelon salad, house cured salmon were my favs and can highly recommend! James and Caterina were great hosts and Ben is the best chef ever!!!

Top service and very accommodating

Excellent restaurant. Des plats avec beaucoup de saveur. Le tartare de noix de saint jaques excellent. L’entrée avec les aubergines aussi. Un énorme merci au serveur Joäo pour les suggestions, bon humeur, le sourire et la rapidité dans les services.

Cozy restaurant where you can sit outside when the weather is nice. We came here for a drink and also ordered some snacks: crab cakes and cauliflower bites. Both dishes were nicely presented and well baked. Service was friendly and helpful in making a choice.

We booked this venue for the London Maritime Martini Club's annual dinner associated with the TOC ports conference, and a party of 20 people. The 5 x course set menu was a delight with its many stimulating flavours, the service from everyone was friendly and efficient, the cocktails, and especially the martinis, were excellent thanks to Destiny the mixologist. Highly recommended

We had a great time at this restaurant. The food was really tasty—we tried a variety of tapas, and each dish was full of flavor and well-prepared. The drinks were also very good; I had a fresh lemonade that was especially refreshing. However, the bathroom was a different story. It wasn’t very clean and had a rather strange setup—I’ve honestly never seen a bathroom quite like it before. It felt a bit out of place compared to the quality of the food and drinks. Overall, the dining experience was enjoyable.

Love the cocktails, great snacks and tasty dishes. Enjoyed our after work drinks and dinner.

Food is good, service as well. However, their no tap water policy (even when spending over 70€ on food and wine) makes me never want to return. This is basic, guys.

Food is good, even if overpriced. However, I definitely do not recommend this place because of the policy of no water. We had dinner there spending over 100 euros in food and wine and they didn't want to give us a bottle of tap water. This is insulting and a lack of respect toward your customers. This didn't make me feel welcome and doesn't make me want to come back.

First time here, but so pleasantly surprises! Like we say in Dutch ‘a hidden pearl’. Very good Mediterranian food, exceptional combinations… pleasant for the tastebuds! Waiter João is literally the friendliest host I have had in years in the Center of Rotterdam. 10/10! Great evening!

Great Mediterranean fusion food. Friendly informal service. Good experience.

The concept was fusion of all cuisines, but you could see the Mediterranean cuisine strongly. Very nice how they experiment with flavors, like with the carpaccio. You can also be surprised by a cocktail to your own taste!

Overpriced with small serves. The food was good, but the size of the main courses was more like appetiser size than a main meal. We had the grilled octopus and the lemon calamari with a soft drink and a glass of sauvignon blanc ... tasty but way smaller than what you would expect for a total of €51. Would suggest you go elsewhere in Rotterdam

Variety of products, we ate a 5-course menu with oysters, ceviches, cheeses, sautéed vegetables, excellent quality. The service was great, waiters spoke 3 languages, and the best thing was there was pisco for my pisco. You have to go.

We really liked the food and terrace at the back. Ppl were super friendly too! Compared to other shared dining places the portion sizes were ok - we didn't leave hungry :)

La comida era excelente! Las placas son compartibles, inventivas y cubren una variedad de opciones. El pulpo a la parrilla y el Bavette (flanco de filete con chimichurri) fueron dos de nuestros favoritos. Probamos sus postres que eran fabulosos también. Mi favorita fue la crema catalana con brownies de plátano y helado de plátano un segundo cerca. El servicio fue amable y receptivo. En resumen, una comida encantadora.

Very good food, amazing personnel. We had grilled octopus, scallop carpaccio, steak tartare, iberico burgers, grilled pepper salad, patatas bravas, charceturie plate and cheese platter. All of them were very tasty. We also had chardonnay from chile which was great. The waiters are knowledgeable and attentive. Thanks for everything!

Came here for drinks only, and it was a nice experience, but nothing special. We asked for recommendations and the waiter explained some of the cocktails and helped us pick what we were looking for. I got the Silken Road and it was refreshing as mentioned, however I did not find it fruity or floral as stated in its description. Taste wise it was ok, but not really to my taste so next time I will try something else. I will say that it looks pretty and there is a light under it, so when it's dark it probably looks even better.

Menu is very limited. And in addition, they did not have certain menus in stock. For what we ordered, it was very tasteful. Service is ok. We sat in a corner at the back and the staff seemed to forget us a bit and had to wait a long time until we could get drinks again in between. The atmosphere is also relaxed, but you are really in the dark. We had a gift for you voucher so the costs were not too bad. Count on 45 euros per person including soft drinks...

Plek is veel meer waard dan 3,8 sterren. Héél lekker, originele keuken en supergastrvrije bediening. Telkens met vleugje humor. Niet doen als je gehaast bent, maar wel als je wil genieten.

Went here for dinner on Friday evening. Food was very tasty but all came very quickly. If you want to dine a little longer, I would order in stages. Atmosphere was fun with a live DJ.

Different culinary experience than what You eat normaly around Rotterdam, cant stay its the Best , but for sure its delicious and another style of preparing the dish You normaly know .

What a nice place. Had a farewell lunch with colleagues. Food came quickly, was very tasty including the delicious mocktails. The service was top notch. They had made one dish too many in the kitchen and we were offered it just like that. Roasted cauliflower. Was really great!!!

It is a great place in terms of location and space. The employees are friendly and helpful. I was happy that they brought my sim card, which I didn't realize I had dropped while making the payment. Now there is a place I don't think I would leave without stopping by when I come to Rotterdam. We learned that the first owner was Turkish, and we were happy.

A great vibe for drinks and food. The servings are not huge but tastes amazing! Would recommend, but be aware you will spend money.

I have been to Ayla several times now and am now addicted to the Seafood Risotto and it is very tasty in combination with the Buratta! Enjoy! So tasty.

It remains a strange phenomenon to have to place your order in English in a Rotterdam café. Unless you have to pay, then they understand your Dutch.

The ladies at the service are all very friendly. The food is generally good, but personally I think it's overpriced for what you get. I wouldn't go back there very quickly. Too bad, because it is a really nice restaurant to see.

A cocktail costs 13.50 euros and you get half a glass. At first the waitress said this was not normal and took them back. Afterwards, after consultation with the manager, it was normal. That you dare to ask such a bizarre amount and then also for a half-filled glass... I used to think it was a nice restaurant, but now I definitely don't anymore.

We just stopped by for a warm drink, I had the fig cappuccino and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. The staff were very friendly.

First of all, the staff was professional and friendly, makes you feel welcome. The food was delicious and came very quickly. Atmosphere is also very pleasant. It took a long time to get our drinks, I think there was one person making cocktails and pouring drinks on a busy evening. If the fun doesn't spoil it, I will definitely come back.

Don't come if you're hungry. We had a tapas menu, and had to wait more than hour between 1st and 2nd dish. There also wasnt quite enough food for our group. Food quality was ok. Probably nice place for just drinks.

We initially ordered the Iberian burger and octopus. Then they told me that they don't have octopus and suggested to get tuna. I was ok with this. Then they came back to tell me that they don't have tuna. After a few minutes we received Iberian pork instead of Iberian burger. In the end, we received our orders correctly. The burgers were not too tasty. The vibe is nice, but the food is overpriced.

Very unfortunate. Tables far too close together with rickety chairs. English speaking staff and understaffed. This means you have to wait a long time before you can place an order and orders do not arrive. Food is decent but very pricey. For the money I spent there, there are much better places in Rotterdam

This is a nice place located near Central Station. Food is ok but the portions are really small. The concept is shared dining but after spending 90 euro's for 2 persons we still were hungry. The service was kind and friendly. If we come back it will be only for drinks.

Atmospheric and friendly service!!

The manager apparently feels a lot about being a manager in a restaurant. She nicely tells a guest of hers that 'she's the boss'. Moreover, if someone organizes a Christmas arrangement, you also expect Christmas music, not old elderly music that has nothing to do with Christmas. Are you asking for another number? Miss the manager doesn't allow it, because she is the boss. I would say, take a course on how to deal with guests. The employees themselves are great! Food is decent. But I would avoid it, especially the lady manager, she has a certain personality, I have no idea why. Luckily she doesn't work in an ultra 5 star restaurant. How exalted would she feel then?

Just returned from Christmas dinner at Ayla's. Staff was nice except for one lady. I think she's the manager, what an annoying woman. If you ask the DJ for a special song on Christmas Day, she will come running like a rooster and shout: 'No, that's not allowed, I'm the boss here and I decide.' Totally rude! What a nasty woman, destroyer of atmosphere!

From the moment you enter, you feel welcomed not only by the excellent service but for how cozy it is. The food is amazing, they have this sharing concept which we enjoyed a lot. The restaurant has a convenient location just next to Rotterdam centraal station. Whether you want something to bite or to try one of their signature cocktails, I highly recommend it.

We came here for a few drinks. The two of us had a cocktail and a glass of wine each. The cocktails were OK, but didn't really deliver on their promises. The flavours were not as bold as they were described on the menu. We had a portion of calamari on the side. They were excellent. I would definitely return for them!

I had a really offensive experience at here. As soon as I sat down, I was unjustly accused by the manager of being on drugs (despite being completely sober) with her logic being that I was apparently twitchy and my pupils were dilated. I’m diagnosed adhd so I tend to move around a lot and it was a dimly lit room and I’ve never been accused like that before so I was completely at a loss. This was in front of employees and other patrons that could easily hear the conversation. This all went down within a minute of me walking in and her actions were completely unfounded as well as humiliating and highly unprofessional and made me really uncomfortable and insulted. Completely ruined any chance of feeling relaxed in there. Later on she said she understands how insulting it is but dismissed it the by stating that she has done this quite a bit in the past and despite being wrong about half the time intends to continue doing so "to protect her restaurant.". I worked in restaurants for years and have dealt with many intoxicated customers before and I understand that Rotterdam has some weird characters but I was literally sitting at the bar minding my own business just like last time I was there. Certainly nobody else was bothered by me. I would never, and have never seen a customer so unjustly accused based on circumstantial evidence like that and that’s despite working in places with a much greater number of actually drugged people than Rotterdam centrum. This wasn’t a normal or acceptable thing to happen at all. Besides that this just isn’t a good place to go. I had been here before and each time it’s been mediocre service. I shouldn’t need to get the attention of a bartender standing 3 feet from me when I have no drinks and a closed menu in an empty bar. Pretty subpar beer menu as well and the whole place looks and feels tacky. You can walk like 5 minutes or less and find a lot of places that would give you a better experience in terms of service, options, and not potentially dealing with a crazy manager. I strongly advise others to think twice before supporting a business that devalues and mistreats its customers so brazenly.

Tuve una experiencia muy ofensiva aquí. Tan pronto como me senté, fui injustamente acusado por el gerente de estar drogado (a pesar de estar completamente sobrio) con su lógica de que aparentemente tenía contracciones y mis pupilas estaban dilatadas. Me diagnosticaron TDAH, así que suelo moverme mucho y era una habitación poco iluminada y nunca antes me habían acusado así, así que estaba completamente perdida. Esto fue delante de los empleados y otros clientes que podían escuchar fácilmente la conversación. Todo esto ocurrió en un minuto después de que yo entrara y sus acciones fueron completamente infundadas, así como humillantes y altamente poco profesionales y me hicieron sentir realmente incómodo e insultado. Arruinado completamente cualquier posibilidad de sentirse relajado allí. Más tarde dijo que entiende lo insultante que es, pero lo desestimó al afirmar que ha hecho esto bastante en el pasado y a pesar de equivocarse aproximadamente la mitad del tiempo tiene la intención de seguir haciéndolo "para proteger su restaurante". Trabajé en restaurantes durante años y he tratado con muchos clientes intoxicados antes y entiendo que Rotterdam tiene algunos personajes extraños, pero literalmente estaba sentado en el bar ocupándome de mis propios asuntos como la última vez que estuve allí. Ciertamente nadie más se molestó por mí. Nunca, y nunca he visto a un cliente tan injustamente acusado basado en pruebas circunstanciales como esa y eso a pesar de trabajar en lugares con un número mucho mayor de personas drogadas que el centro Rotterdam. Esto no era algo normal o aceptable para nada. Además, este no es un buen lugar para ir. Había estado aquí antes y cada vez ha sido un servicio mediocre. No debería necesitar llamar la atención de un camarero de pie a 3 pies de mí cuando no tengo bebidas y un menú cerrado en un bar vacío. Menú de cerveza bastante deficiente también y todo el lugar se ve y se siente hortera. Puedes caminar como 5 minutos o menos y encontrar un montón de lugares que te darían una mejor experiencia en términos de servicio, opciones y no potencialmente tratar con un gerente loco. Aconsejo encarecidamente a otros que lo piensen dos veces antes de apoyar un negocio que se devalúay maltrata a sus clientes tan descaradamente.

Ended up here for lunch via social deal. A place we couldn't visit but a very tasty lunch, nice non-mainstream choices that were very surprising. A very hospitable welcome and great service. Will definitely come back here.

Been going to Ayla for several years. This is a restaurant with eye for detail (which is hard to find in Rotterdam). The menu is great for shared dining with friends and family. I wouldn’t recommend it for business at night since the atmosphere is very laid back and more for close friends and loved ones in my opinion (which is a good thing). I do like to take professional relations to go for business lunch though. The quality of the food itself and the preparation of it is always on high standards. Main staff really love their job and that is noticeable. Unfortunately they recently removed my favorite from the menu: green padron peppers. Luckily my mate in the staff arranged it anyway and it made my night.

Mediocre food, great atmosphere! The expectations when reading the menu are not met: yellowtail main course is barely a starter portion, and the bavette is by far the toughest I have ever eaten. But the atmosphere is excellent, partly thanks to the very nice, enthusiastic staff!

Reserved via social deal with the shared dining deal. The deal clearly states that we get 3 rounds of dishes to share. The last round would consist of dessert. However, we only had 2 rounds. When asked where the third round of desserts was, the answer was that this was not included in the deal. The employee was aware that, according to socialdeal, this was part of the deal. Yet we didn't get dessert. Very strange turn of events. The food and service were excellent, but price/quality was not up to par.

Très décevant. Les plats sont correctes, sans plus. Pas de quoi exciter ses papilles, le menu du chef a 60€ ne propose des (mauvaises) « surprises » : planches de charcuteries, fromages, patates bravas… on se croirait dans un « All you can eat ».. les plats alléchants de la carte ne finissent pas dans votre assiettes. Même l’expresso Martini est décevant (et à 14€!!). Bref, fin gourmets, passez votre chemin !
