Backwerk in Centrum

They didn't open on time and it looked like we'd have to wait another hour! Never coming back.

We walked by and saw coffee and a delicious chocolate roll on the sign outside. However, when we went inside, there was no roll in sight. When we asked, they only spoke English. "If you want to work here, just learn Dutch." Anyway, we continued in English. They told us, without any interest, that there were no rolls. We politely asked why the sign was still outside, but they didn't even reply. We could forget about the coffee for the time being, as the two ladies thought it was perfectly reasonable to have both machines cleaned at the same time. We left for good. If you don't care about the customers, don't work in a restaurant. What a shabby, run-down place!

Generally good sandwiches but the hygiene is really bad. Today several tomatoes fell on a visibly dirty floor, tomatoes were picked up and immediately cut and put on sandwiches. When I spoke to the employee in question about this she reacted very surprised and indicated that they never wash vegetables and that this was very normal.

The food is good, the staff are friendly, but if you, as the owner, don't understand that a press machine makes so much noise, it's useless for the guests, and the staff should have earplugs. It's an easy fix. You can't even talk to each other.

Got an egg salad and bacon sandwich with pumpkin soup. Pumpkin soup was delicious again! The sandwich was awful! I couldn't find any egg salad and there was no bacon. When I reported it, they gave me a hard time. I had to speak English. The staff were very unfriendly and arrogant! Fortunately, it's much better in Apeldoorn with very nice, friendly, and helpful staff! I'll go there again soon. But not here again!!!!

What a crappy place. The staff is too busy on their phones. There's no sign for the sausage roll. The door stays open even though it's 8 degrees outside. This was a one-time visit. Too bad.

At 3pm on Sunday there is nothing left to buy and what is available is covered in flies

If you like flies on your buns, then you've come to the right place! Extremely unsanitary!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I usually come here once or twice a week from work to get a sandwich. A young (eastern European sounding) woman came up to me and asked me "did I put a sandwich in my pocket"? I didn't quite understand the question, until I realized she was accusing me of stealing. Well, I got quite angry, and shouted a bit. I've never had such a bizarre experience in my life. I will never return to any backWerk in my life - BYEE

Open from 8:30 am, but nowadays every time I come on Monday (9:00 am/10:00 am) they don't have anything ready yet, they could make me a healthy sandwich but they had no egg, and there was no coffee milk

Went to Backwerk in Arnhem again today. Since I had to go to the toilet, I asked a salesperson (around 40 years old, probably the owner, because he was also in the other bakery about an hour later) to open the door for me. Since I was ignored by him, probably because the music was too loud and he didn't understand me properly, I asked him a second time and a third time to open the toilet door for me. He then became totally rude, cheeky and unfriendly and complained to me in English about how he wanted to be addressed by me and what I had to say. I understand English and can speak it (even though I'm older), but since it was hardly ever necessary in Arnhem and German was usually well understood, I spoke to him in my native language. And it's German. If this is not desired, please post signs stating that you only want to be addressed in English. Otherwise, I'm happy to speak English if you talk to me in a reasonable tone. Maybe you should turn down the music, then you would probably have understood what I said the first time. Someone like that shouldn't be let loose on customers. After all, he only gets his salary if customers are satisfied, come back and shop there. Then there's the fact that the women's toilet was dingy and there wasn't even any soap. So far we have been to Backwerk in Arnhem very often when we went on a day trip. But that will no longer be the case in the future.

Disappointed. On the table is an example of a croissant with yellow cream and 8 large strawberry slices. distributed over the length of the croissant. Unfortunately it was only, four thinly cut small strawberry slices. Not at all comparable to what is shown in the photo. Image quality is wrong. Image deception. Photograph reality.

If you come early, they will have almost nothing ready, which is a shame. Toilet dramatic.

All sandwiches are open with the front door open. The result is that there are all kinds of flies on the sandwiches to be sold.

The flies are on the sandwiches that are ready! Dirty tent and nothing was done about it.

Excellent service, classic food of sandwiches and sweets. Very good to get out of trouble.

I rarely give 1 star, but we made a mistake with too good to go in terms of location. We accidentally ordered here and found ourselves in Grote Oorstraat. There the bags were filled with enthusiasm and cheerfulness with leftover goodies. When we turned out to be wrong, they called ahead to tell us we were coming. We were received on time, super cool and disinterested, almost unfriendly and we were surprised. Once home, it turned out to contain 3 plain rolls (2 brown, 1 white roll) and 2 sandwiches. Such a disappointment! Never again Roggestraat, from now on only Grote Oordstraat...

Delicious, always fresh sandwiches and great coffee! My favorite spot for (quick) breakfast or lunch!

It says on their site that they are open, the door is also open, but when you walk in you are turned away in a very unfriendly manner. Bizarre.

Disinterested employee. Too bad you can only get a large cup of cappuccino there. Food is good and tasty.

The store opens at 8:30 AM, but you don't have to come in until 10:00 AM because nothing has been baked. The smoothies haven't been made yet either. For a tasty and quick sandwich in the morning, it is better to go to another bakery.

Voor een ontbijtje, lunch of een bak koffie. Genoeg plek om binnen te zitten.

Pompoen soep was koud. Koffie was lekker, broodje warme omelet champignons was ook lekker. W.C. was vies...:(

Prima broodjes, maar ik sla ze vaak over omdat de voorraad altijd zo slecht is. Maakt bijna niet uit wanneer je er komt, er zijn altijd wel een paar varianten van de broodjes op. Valt mij ook op dat wanneer je het personeel de broodjes ziet aanvullen dat ze er 2 neerleggen. In een drukke stad als Arnhem is dat natuurlijk zo weer weg.

Fijne vrolijke bediening, top. Geeft gelijk een fijn gevoel. De tosti was lekker warm en heerlijk, aanrader!

Maybe I visited at the wrong time, but there wasn't a lot to choose from. What there was, was quite expensive and not particularly appealing. Also, you can't trust the prices on the labels. Didn't like this place, won't be coming back.

Pokken-herrie van de airco. Niet fijn om binnen te zitten. Ik voel mee met het personeel dat er de hele dag in rond loopt. De koffie was lekker sterk en heet.

Kwaliteit is op zich prima hier, ook aardig personeel, maar toch valt het tegen omdat het niet is wat ik bij Backwerk verwacht. De Nederlandse variant van de Backwerk-formule is duidelijk anders dan in Duitsland. Dat wil zeggen: in Nederland is alles veel duurder en er is ook nog eens veel minder keuze. Vergeleken met de 'echte' Backwerk in Duitsland is het aanbod zelfs behoorlijk karig, al die typische Duitse broodjes en zoetigheden heb je hier helaas niet.

De koffie is prima, het is schoon, het toilet is erg netjes. De broodjes etc, maar dat is helaas nu algemeen, vind ik een te hoge prijs hebben.

Prima broodjes wel aan weinig ruimte binnen. Gelukkig wel kunnen zitten. Tafel was niet helemaal schoon. (Kwam door de drukte denk ik) Voor de rest Prima.

Was lekker, alleen s'morgen om 9.30 is er weinig keus

Ranzige wc’s en niet bijgevuld, natte tafels bah.

Heerlijke Fairtrade koffie. Assortiment belegde broodjes is voordelig maar ook beperkt.

Prijzen gestegen. Medewerkers maken de broodjes klaar zonder handschoenen en zitten vervolgens overal aan. Niet echt schoon toch?!

Altijd lekkere broodjes. Alleen toen mijn vriend laatst een to good to go wou ophalen (en die al betaald had) Wou het personeel de deuren sluiten en zeiden ze dat er geen to good to go is. Beetje jammer mijn vriend had zich hier echt op verheugd en hier voor betaald.

Quality snack food for busy people.

Lekkere broodjes..... Prijs erg pittig! Af en toe raar volk...... (denk aan zwervers etc).....

Ruim aanbod, goed belegde broodjes goede koffie e.d. en alles voor een redelijke prijs! Aanrader.

Love it here! The sandwiches are very nice and still pretty affordable.

Valt eigenlijk altijd tegen in prijs kwaliteit en de medewerkers zijn vrijwel altijd onvriendelijk.

Gezellig zitten. Niet duur, wel lekker.

Lunch, brunch bar. Leuke producten en ruim assortiment.

Top. Alleen geen gelegenheid om een klein kind te verschonen.

Vorige week was ik hier met mijn moeder en mijn baby. Na het kiezen van de broodjes en het drinken bij de kassa aangekomen. Achter de kassa stond echt de meest onvriendelijke dame. Ik vroeg of ze misschien de fles van mijn baby wilde opwarmen, met reactie kreeg ik “we hebben hier geen magnetron” nou prima dat kan, dus ik vroeg om heet water om de fles in te zetten maar daar moest ik gewoon 1 euro voor betalen. Toen ik uitsprak hoe belachelijk ik het vond kon er met pijn en moeite een beker warm water van af, met een ontevreden en bijna stampvoetend liep ze door de ruimte.Tevens is er ook geen verschoon optie voor je kindje. Het broodje was prima en onze koffie lekker maar zeer ontevreden over de service.
