I wanted a sandwich without tomato because I'm allergic. The sandwiches weren't ready yet, because it was 5:50 and NO ONE was in the store. I was told, "That's not allowed, we have to follow the recipe." What nonsense! The employee said, "If we do it for you, the next person will come too." Again, no one else was there. "It's either without tomato or with." I immediately walked out. That was supposed to be my breakfast before work. I came here almost every day, but this was the last time. What a lousy place.

Arriving tired at this location in the morning, you'll be greeted by a super friendly, cheerful gentleman. He's adept at humor and clever marketing, offering a wink: "Would you like a small cappuccino? Because that won't wake you up! I'd recommend a big one." Want a piece of wallpaper? You can decorate the train with it ;) Now that's a much better way to start your day. I don't know his name, but he's a keeper.

This place was the only one open on an early Saturday morning and I thought everything would be freshly made. Apparently not, because the sandwich filet americain I ate here gave me the worst food poisoning in years. Extremely dangerous BackWerk Leiden!

I've honestly never experienced anything like this before... I was looking at sandwiches when an employee (old woman with blonde hair) came at me, yelling angrily and telling me that "it also says so on the packaging" and that I "don't have to touch it." I hope the owner does something about this.

I was at Leiden Central Station today, April 4th, at 10:35 AM. I thought I'd grab a nice sandwich at Backwerk. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option. What an arrogant attitude those employees have. The women, in particular, seem like they'd rather you leave than be loved.

Had a healthy sandwich was good

I asked for a roll, a chicken roll, but without the sauce. They said it wasn't actually possible because they weren't allowed to leave anything out, according to a specific procedure. They did put sauce on the roll, which unfortunately made it inedible for me. I threw away €5.75. It's just incredibly sad that the customer isn't king here, and there's absolutely no service.

Bread is dry. Price is outrageous for the quality you get.

I went there last Wednesday and Thursday for coffee and a sandwich, and I have to say I really like this sandwich shop. The caprese sandwich had plenty of fillings, but the bread was especially delicious, crispy, and fresh. It was clear the sandwich had just arrived. The coffee was also excellent, and the staff was very friendly. Given the low prices and the quality you get in return, I definitely recommend this place.

Around 12:30 there were almost no sandwiches. They were busy spreading something but that was going very slowly. When I saw that they were not wearing gloves and were happily digging around in the rolls with their hands I left. At least at Julia's they do wear gloves. There is also less topping on it. I recently had an egg salad sandwich but had to open the sandwich to see if there was any topping on it.

My partner is in the hospital next to the station and has had a few days of chemo. Today he received his stem cell transplant. His taste has changed and he really wants a cheese sandwich from Backwerk. Super happy that he at least wants to eat something. At 17:05 I am standing in front of a closed door. The summer opening hours have apparently started, which has not been communicated anywhere. I kindly ask via the neighbors (Dunkin' donuts) if I could buy a cheese sandwich. No, the systems are closed and nothing can be bought. I explain why I would so much like to buy a sandwich. The answer remains no. What makes it mega cruel is that all the sandwiches are thrown in the trash right in front of me. Then you really don't understand it as a catering business, I think. Because of this heartlessness I give 1 star and after dozens of sandwiches, I will look for my salvation elsewhere.

Nice for a quick stop to get a bite in the station. For this location I find (more often than not, and generally in the morning) that the bretzels feel stale despite being dated for the date they are sold-even only an hour after the time on the sticker.

This morning for breakfast (on the go) in the Stationshal in Leiden, I stopped at BackWerk for a baguette with Chicken BBQ sauce. The staff was nice and helpful. As far as I'm concerned, it's worth repeating.

Excellent Backwerk with good fresh sandwiches and friendly staff. On Sunday afternoon around lunchtime there was still more than enough choice and we were helped quickly.

Brezels are sometimes not fresh at all. They are soggy and wet around the salt. Further employees always ask if you want a drink even if you’re in a hurry and run into the store cause you need to catch your train.

For some reason these people are incapable of cutting a sandwich in half an hour before they close

BackWerk charges a packaging fee of 10 cents on a bag containing the sandwich. A sustainable solution can certainly be found for a paper bag with a window. In addition, the contribution is not clearly stated in advance.

Nice, friendly employees, but the products are not worth their expensive price. the so-called Bretzel, among other things, was extremely tough and dry, simply unedible

The Dutch Railways upgraded their previous “TRECK” location at Leiden Central station to this “backWERK”-concept nationwide. The previous crew still works here, which is great! The ladies are very helpful, professional and friendly. A different variety of cold/hot sandwiches and snacks are available throughout the day. The coffee tastes nice and different types of milk are available upon request.

Cappuccino was waterig. Blueberry muffin was acceptabel.

Aardige medewerkers. Ik verwacht wel dat, wanneer ik een cappuccino bestel met havermelk én dit herhaald wordt door medewerkster in kwestie, ik ook een cappuccino met havermelk krijg. Geen koemelk. Fouten die je niet mag maken met betreffende allergenen.
