Best bread in Maastricht and surroundings!

I picked up an order this morning, and upon arrival, there was no "good morning." Meanwhile, three ladies were rummaging through crates of bread. One of them yelled, "Yes, just say it..." to me, so I gave her my order number. She returned with the order and asked if I needed the Christmas order list (!?). Giving the change was a bit of a fumble, not even a "is that all for you, ma'am, do you need anything else?" In fact, not even a "good day," let alone a "happy holidays." This was my first time at Koos Bakery. But also my last. Friendliness is king. Whether they're on-call or new staff, people leave a lot of money for a Christmas loaf. A little customer service is definitely in order. You could learn a thing or two from Paulissen Bakery.

Unfortunately, Bakkerij Koos doesn't convince me. The pastries are fine, the bread is okay, but the croissants… they're dry, hard, and clearly overbaked. And all that for a price that makes you think you're getting something special—but you're not. For croissants that are actually worth it: just walk around the corner to Bakkerij Paulissen. At least there you'll get something that doesn't feel like an edible doorstop.

One of the few bakeries in Maastricht where you can still get truly good, hearty bread. The pies are made by pastry chef Peter Lemmens.

Buy your cheese and cold cuts here, it's excellent. For other things like prepared meals and soups, read this: Minetrone 1⭐️: tasteless, thick, and slimy. Grandma's tomato soup 2 ⭐️⭐️: salty, bland, and "sour." (This used to be quite good, but they changed the recipe slightly.) Mushroom soup 1⭐️: I don't know what they use as a thickener, but it makes everything slimy. The flavor left a lot to be desired. Kale 2 ⭐️⭐️: Even the cabbage stems are used, and everything is overcooked. Meatball 1 ⭐️: Only pork and made according to the same recipe as buffalo meatballs. The result: spongy and fatty. In other words, HKvB (it could be much better!!).

The best bread in Maastricht, and their Christmas loaf is divine. Unfortunately, the women who work there aren't always very friendly.

Hello, very tasty pastries and bread, very friendly and helpful staff.

I went there to buy the famous vlaai from Limburg. But only had the picture from the Rijstevlaai (my favourite). The prices are good taking into account quality ans size. (Rijstevlaai = 5.50€; fruit vlaai = 4.25€). The service is really nice and friendly. The only thing I found really inappropriate is the fact that people working there touch the food with their hands without gloves, which is not hygienic. I recommend to book the cakes the day before so you'll enjoy it with no hesitation.

Tasty products, but I find €21.88 for a loaf of bread and a small pie (20 cm diameter) too expensive.

I was visiting Maastricht from Saudi Arabia for business and stumbled upon this bakery. I had the apple pie and man was it delicious… loved the place and the staff very friendly.

Bread is tasty. For the first time I managed to order a too good to go box and then it was canceled 1.5 hours in advance. It's good that there is nothing left to waste, but it's a shame that no thought is given to picking up the package on another day, for example. And the terms and conditions of too good to go state that cancellations must be made at least 2 hours in advance. So not a customer-friendly experience for me.

Great bakery. The visit is worth it!

Almost hit you when you cross at a zebra crossing and then dare to honk. Not smart if you drive the company bus, antisocial!!!

Delicious burnt croissants. Highly recommended. A bakery that dares to sell it over the counter should not call itself a baker.

Decent bread horrible staff. Seriously, avoid this place to avoid the sass and unnecessary passive agressiveness.

Great product, and the customer service was absolutely top notch. Had the sourdough loaf and the round rolls. So far Kooks is the bakery this side of the river .

When I moved from Schinnen to Maastricht, my biggest loss was the village baker. Fortunately I found Koos. Delicious, unusual bread and very helpful service.
