Bakkerij Koos in Wijk 00: Valkenburg

Recently bought sourdough bread, paid more than €5. Unfortunately, it looked more like Tiger White from Aldi than sourdough bread. Shame.

Unfortunately, the quality has been very inconsistent and unreliable lately. Previously, most additional pastry products were supplied by third parties. Nowadays, they make a lot themselves. This yields very mixed results, but usually they are not up to par. On top of that, or perhaps because of it, the bread has also taken a hit and is a hit-or-miss affair. Too often, the bread is baked either too hard, too long, or too short. Then again, it rises too much or poorly, resulting in thick slices of unbaked dough in the middle of the loaf. The atmosphere has also somewhat disappeared from the shops. The staff often seem to lack enthusiasm. In short, there is real work to be done, as this is unacceptable given the prices.

What unfriendly and incredibly rude staff. According to the receipt, I was served by Marijn. I asked for rye bread. "We only have these packets left," she said, and immediately walked to the other side of the store to the cash register. It turned out there were several types of rye bread packets: "Plain and with flaxseed," she called from behind the counter. I asked, "You have one with syrup too, don't you?" "Yes, we have that too," came from behind the counter 8 meters away. I took all three and walked to the cash register. I asked, "May I have a receipt?" She printed the receipt and, without saying a word and without deserving me any eye contact, handed it to me. I was still hoping for a "Goodbye" or "Have a nice evening." Absolutely nothing, and I walked out feeling a bit dejected. Maybe it's the boss's daughter, but otherwise, I don't understand why you would let someone like that drive your customers away!

Excellent, more authentic bakery with tasty products, although quite pricey.

Koos Bakery in Hulsberg is terrible! Don't go after 11 a.m. on Saturdays because almost everything is sold out! The loaves have been halved in size. There are a few large slices in the middle, and then they quickly narrow, leaving only small slices in each loaf! The somewhat special loaves are so small that you easily need two for one adult and two children, so you end up paying about 8 euros for two small loaves. Well, fine... but after two days, they're already dry and unpalatable. If you show up at 8:30 a.m. on New Year's Eve to pick up your order, there are still no oliebollen, so you have to join the queue again later in the day to pick up your oliebollen. And so on...

December 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM... No black bread... No oliebollen, no bows... Little choice of bread. Everyone still had to come that day. Apparently, their bakers are allowed to sleep in. All worthless!!!!! Koos, what's wrong?

Get 6 halves of delicious whole wheat bread from the mill every week

Just half a loaf of white bread. 11 slices, only 2 ounces at €3.60. That's €0.35 per slice of bread the size of a baguette. When I called, they told me this was very special bread... yes, this is indeed very special...

Great bread, you can't choose, they have so much bread. The saleswoman was very friendly.

Very unfriendly saleswoman: doesn't even look at the customer. She also doesn't know what's in her own products and can't show an ingredient list. That's simply unacceptable in 2025. And they call themselves a 'bakery'.

Whenever I visit clients, I always bring home a fresh Limburg pie from Koos in its own pie box. Success guaranteed.

A very good bakery with real bread. No overpriced supermarket bread, but quality loaves. A bit more expensive, but you get your money's worth.

Bakery Dukers has been taken over by Koos; unfortunately. The quality of the bread and pastries has significantly deteriorated. Pies taste like 13 out of a dozen pies and Limburg pride, the grid pie is no longer available. The airy tasty breads have been replaced by hipster breads with sourdough in them and the yeast bread they have is tasteless. My advice for bakery Koos: take a course in baking bread and pastries at Dukers or Paulissen, or sell the whole thing.

Delicious pastries and apple pie, but quite expensive, I think that's why there are no prices listed anywhere.

Nice bakery, good bread, but unfortunately I think 2.15 euros for half a cup of white is a bit too high. I also understand that a bakery is more expensive than the Jumbo, but unfortunately there is too big a difference for me.

We bought a cake (gooseberries), a sweet bread with grapes, a whole grain bread and everything was wonderful. A bakery that is almost a must for Valkenburg visitors.

There are no prices for the sandwiches. Be careful they give you too high a price!!

At Bakkerij Koos in Valkenburg you can find the tastiest sourdough breads. They are also very customer friendly.👍🏻

Bakker Koos in Valkenburg is a very nice and cozy business. The craftsmanship radiates from it. The employee is friendly and helpful. Only the prices are absurdly high. I think 25 euros for a Christmas loaf and a stinky cheese is excessive. Especially in these times. Too bad but that's the only reason I won't come back. For the rest fine.

Lekker fijn volkoren brood en heerlijke bokkenrijder (rozijnenbrood met een vleugje kaneel). Ruim assortiment. Vriendelijke medewerkster.

Weet er niet veel over te zeggen. Personeel was wel heel vriendelijk. En wat ik wilde hebben was er.

We waren hier niet voor het brood, maar voor de bonbons van Visser. De winkel zag er echter goed uit en alles was smakelijk uitgestald. Ook hebben ze hier -voor de liefhebber- gebak van Peter Lemmens.

Lekker brood en goede kwaliteit

Heerlijk zuurdesembrood in alle soorten en maten. Favoriet zijn Neubourg en Levain. Verder verkopen ze heerlijke vlaaien (ook in handig klein formaat voor de kleinere huishoudens). De broodjes die ze verkopen vind ik persoonlijk teleurstellend. Zeker vergeleken met de kwaliteit van het brood.

We stopped in for some breakfast pastries; absolutely yummy!! Highly recommend.

In deze winkel wordt kwaliteit geboden,en smaakt alles prima.Alleen het personeel is niet attent en een beetje onhandig. Jammer maar dit is helaas een minpuntje.
