Yesterday we had a workshop at Het Bak Atelier with 30 people. Everything was ready upon arrival, and we received a warm welcome. The pie-making process was explained step by step, with a choice of four fruit fillings. Throughout the workshop, there was unlimited coffee, tea, and homemade iced tea, and there were some treats on the table. In short, a wonderful experience and definitely worth repeating!

What a super fun workshop, we baked pies with 20 ladies. We were taken through every step of pie baking, after which we were allowed to put our hands in the dough ourselves. The toppers who supported us were full of pie baking passion and conviviality. A real recommendation to knead the Limburg culture. 👍

Yesterday I attended a fantastic pie baking workshop. It started with the fact that, despite my gluten and cow's milk intolerance, I was more than welcome and everything was taken into account. Upon entering you will be warmly welcomed in a beautifully decorated room. Nice atmosphere, nice dynamic between Cathelijne and Roel. You notice that they work with passion. In between, everyone (without intolerances) could enjoy delicious (as far as I understand) snacks. You will receive good help, everything is explained step by step and you really learn! Last weekend we did a wonderfully fun workshop (Limburg pie with fruit filling) with our group of friends. Reception with coffee/tea and, how could it be otherwise, pie. That already boded well for the end result. Then very clear explanations for each step in the process. The result was a beautiful and very tasty pie. Vandaag hebben we een bakworkshop gevolgd. We hebben een rijstevla en nougatine galettes gebakken. Iedere stap wordt uitgelegd en voorgedaan. Daarna mag je het zelf gaan doen. Zeer vriendelijke en gepassioneerde eigenaren ! Koffie, thee en fris is bij de prijs inbegrepen. Als tussendoortje kregen we verse hartige madeleines. We waren op bezoek bij Camperplaats Kessel en daar hebben ze een broodjesservice. Je duid aan betaald en de dag erna om 9 uur kan je het in het onthaal van de camperplaats afhalen. De croissants waren super groot en lekker. De broodjes waren ultramals. Alles was supervers gebakken. Echt lekker!

What delicious treats, delicious! After a bit of stress about choosing, we had the cherry pie (square version, huge portion 😍) and a pudding roll. They were delicious. And the staff is very friendly. A great place to stop!

Koos Bakery in Hulsberg is terrible! Don't go after 11 a.m. on Saturdays because almost everything is sold out! The loaves have been halved in size. There are a few large slices in the middle, and then they quickly narrow, leaving only small slices in each loaf! The somewhat special loaves are so small that you easily need two for one adult and two children, so you end up paying about 8 euros for two small loaves. Well, fine... but after two days, they're already dry and unpalatable. If you show up at 8:30 a.m. on New Year's Eve to pick up your order, there are still no oliebollen, so you have to join the queue again later in the day to pick up your oliebollen. And so on...

Valkenburg is characterized by the renowned Limburg hospitality. A true breath of fresh air. A friendly chat, excellent service, or some truly useful advice. This bakery would have been better off in Amsterdam's canal district. It oozes urban arrogance. While we were in the shop, our daughter was sitting on the bench outside. Well, she certainly knew what she was doing. A slightly older employee watched over the bench as if it were a priceless piece of medieval cultural heritage. With a growl and a snarl, she and we were ordered to leave. Not far away was another bakery. Luckily, here we still found the Limburg hospitality we so appreciate…
