Bakkerij Nollen Enschede Deppenbroek in Wijk 04 Enschede-Noord

I was in the mood for a cup of coffee with a strawberry tart there. I'm not from Enschede and had been standing in the shop for a while, drooling. When I wanted to order, I was 4 minutes too late. The coffee machine switches off at 4:00 PM. How is that even possible!

Great sandwiches and friendly staff.

Stale bread sits at the front by the curtains, and no one mentions it. This might have been baked two days ago, or even longer. Completely dry. This isn't what you go to a bakery for... You don't exactly get a warm welcome either. I'll spend my money elsewhere from now on.

The quality of the advertising sticker is as mediocre as their bread

I traditionally go to Savonije every year for New Year's Eve treats because they're good at it, but Nollen is there now, which I didn't know about since I never go to Albert Heijn. The lack of a dedicated sales table in front of the entrance that wasn't being jostled by the crowds was already a major warning sign that I didn't appreciate enough... Okay, I'm in a hurry, and a baker knows how to make these traditional Dutch treats, right? Not so. These apple turnovers are the worst apple turnovers I've ever eaten and seen. Not only are they small, but they're crumpled up with a tasteless filling, and worse than that, the sugar has been heated so much that the outer layer is caramelized and excessively hard. They look more like caramelized spring rolls than apple turnovers! I can't compare the apple fritters to those at Savonije either, but they're just a hair better than those awful things at Dirk's... but a bakery shouldn't take that as a compliment, IMHO, because I pay almost €2 each here, while at Dirk's I get four for €2.50. Nollen's oliebollen are the only ones that aren't a disgrace... but I also bought a bag at Dirk's for comparison, and they're both cheaper and tastier. I'm never coming back. I wish I'd read these reviews beforehand; then I wouldn't have been nearly as disappointed!

What delicious bread they have here. The service was also very friendly. It's a truly great place.

It is a shame that a possibly well-meaning employee speaks to you in a rather loud tone. For some even 'shouting at'. The baker bakes them too brown this way.

Oven always turns off at 4:30 PM, no time! Most people are just finishing work when the oven turns off. Been there twice. The first time I thought someone wanted to finish work quickly, so they turned the oven off earlier... I understand that, but if that is the norm, I'm not coming back. So, no more Bakkerij Nollen for me, never again!

Just got a healthy sandwich, it was delicious. Generously filled on a delicious brown roll.

I completely agree with what shifty vlogs describes below. His sandwich, however, looked "richly filled" compared to mine. One slice of tomato, one slice of cucumber, and a lettuce leaf. Whoever came up with that should be ashamed of themselves. No more Nollen for me.

DO NOT GET FOOD HERE!!!!!!!!!! Bought a sandwich for 5 euros. A healthy sandwich with tomato, egg, cheese, and lettuce? 2 tomato slices 2 cucumber slices I'm just wondering why you get half a gram of lettuce?

Just bought some hard rolls. There's nothing like a rusk. Not normal, a bit dry. Seems like yesterday.

One customer is chatted with at length and needlessly (while there's a long line). Another customer is dismissed as quickly as possible. No "please," "thank you," or "goodbye" is allowed. Very, very unfriendly!

After trying to call for a week to place an order, I went there personally and was treated rudely and unfriendly, so I decided on the spot not to place a regular order here. I can take a great example from the south branch!!!

When the sausage rolls were advertised I went because my daughter loves them. When I arrived I was turned down with the words "we don't have that." Customer friendly heath left much to be desired. And was left with a disappointed daughter. The staff could be so much friendlier here.
