Bakkerswinkel Westerpark Amsterdam in Spaarndammer- en Zeeheldenbuurt

We stayed at a hotel opposite the Bakkerswinkel and had breakfast here for days. Very tasty! The scones and French toast are top-notch!

I had a very disappointing experience here. This is a bakery café with outdoor terrace seating, where I joined friends who had already ordered food and eaten. Since I had brought a sandwich with me, I ordered a coffee and started eating it while sitting with them outside. I completely understand if your policy doesn’t allow outside food, I would have respected that immediately if it had been communicated politely. Instead, the manager (very arrogant man) made passive-aggressive remarks such as “Oh, interesting,” about my sandwich and then asked, “Where are you from? Is it okay to bring food into a restaurant there?” Those comments were unnecessary, unprofessional, and made me feel singled out because of my background. My nationality had nothing to do with the situation, and there was no reason to bring it up instead of simply explaining the café’s policy. Staff can enforce policies without making customers feel belittled or uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the way this was handled left a very negative impression and I won’t be returning.

Starting point food is great. No question about it. Everything is made with care and by people who know how to pull something above the middle ground. The issue I have is personal. Young kids, very kind but with lack of professionalism. Its rampant in The Netherlands and probably a generational thing. When you forget something in the order and we get it after we are all finished, an apology is the least you can offer. But i simply got the remark: “but the pancake was good right?!”serving staff is mostly English speaking w no knowledge of Dutch at all then why is the menu Dutch only? And when you offer a flyer with a free pancake. And we come back for the offer, we get the remark from the manager that its evening only. No apologies must be a Dutch thing. Sir put the rules on your flyer!!! Its sneaky. But again go for the amazing food. The personnel stuff is a malady of many establishments I notice.

Always a pleasure to come and enjoy a treat here. One of the first places I discovered in Amsterdam (the one in the Red Light District), the scones are so good 🤤 cinnamon, cranberry, plain, or chocolate chip with the excellent lemon curd 🤭 the cakes and cheesecakes look tempting too! I highly recommend it!

A very pleasant place for breakfast and brunch. The atmosphere is also very cozy, with lots of people and a lively atmosphere. The gluten-free brownie was deliciously moist and flavorful, and the scone was very light and airy, not dry. I'll definitely be back with my boyfriend.

The menu is a little limited but the pumpkin carpaccio was fantastic

Compared to Bakkerswinkel Oud-Zuid, this place was simply poor. The staff seemed annoyed/stressed at times. A pot of tea for two people contained a tiny tea bag, and the tea was far too weak. We paid an extra €1 for lemon curd but received a tiny bowl of passion fruit jam instead. When we asked for more, we were told they were out of lemon curd. The breakfast, supposedly with eggs and sourdough bread, consisted only of thin slices of supermarket bread. The next table received proper sourdough bread. The hot chocolate came from a carton and was heated in the microwave. It was okay, but extremely disappointing.

Delicious food! Very noisy inside though. They also have a takeaway option, for when you go for a walk in Westerpark, for example! Often very busy, as it is a popular spot; and rightly so. Terrace on two sides, so you are always in the sun! Wonderfully extensive menu.

Really beautiful location and atmosphere, and the scones were just as lovely! I tried the cinnamon one, it was served warm, and was very fragrant. The jam and the lemon curd tasted homemade, also really good! I got their savory cheese scone for takeaway to have at home later and it was super tasty too. I'll be returning to try a full meal, everyone else's plates around me looked great! 5 stars across the board!

The food is just slightly less than in Utrecht, but not bad. Unfortunately, it is really incredibly noisy (large open space without curtains) and the basement smells strongly of sewage. We were served a teapot with the top missing, making it difficult to hold the lid while pouring. The staff were friendly and attentive, though. I definitely recommend the shop for takeout, but I don't think I will come back here for lunch again.

We were seated by the stairs leading down to the toilets. Throughout our entire visit, there was a strong smell of feces. This certainly disturbed our enjoyment of the meal. The noise level in the room was high. One of the pancakes was burnt on the bottom. The food did not taste very good.

I was just charged 4 euros for a small coffee, when the board clearly said 3.5 euros. It’s not about the 0.50 euros that was charged additionally for no reason, but the honesty with the service and there was none. And I just lost my trust with one of my go to spots coffee.

Two pastries for €6.50 (the same size and taste as the supermarket) is absurd. I've been coming here for years, and the quality is steadily declining, and the prices are skyrocketing. It's very disappointing.

Bought a Red Velvet cake. It was dried out and tough. Way past its sell-by date! Simply awful for €5. The croissant 🥐 was fine, but that's also acceptable for €2.75 each. Will I come back here as a local resident? Nope.

We happened to stop here because it was snowing heavily, but it wasn't a good experience. The waitress was nice but practically sent us away because they were closing very early. The cake was too cold from the refrigerator and dry as if it had been sitting there for weeks. Even the chai lattes were watery and tasteless. Furthermore, the toilet is downstairs in a messy, dirty basement where the tap constantly runs and can't be turned off.

I went here today with a friend for coffee and cake. The location is cozy and looks nice, but unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. We both ordered the red velvet, which, to our disappointment, was dry and hard. The cake also seemed half-frozen. It's a shame, because with better quality, this could be a nice place.

Delicious, but seriously, ten euros for a basic grilled cheese sandwich... The prices (and of course the accompanying smaller portion sizes, no frills) detract from the enjoyment. If not, this would be my favorite spot.

The food is delicious, the menu is small. The atmosphere is noisy, which is a personal preference. We were there at noon, but the floor was filthy… 😧 Crumbs everywhere, even under the tables. This is unhygienic. We sat down and politely asked, when the menu was brought, if we could wipe the table, as the woman had already put the menus down. She made a sour face and complained about me to a colleague (we saw this 😆). There were also a lot of dishes in full view on a table near the cash register. Nice location, the food is good, but it's DIRTY, and the woman in question was definitely not an asset to the establishment.

20 minutes after ordering soup, they came to tell us that there actually was no soup that day. Okay, quiche then. It came after 30 minutes, one of them was cold at the bottom, and the other was equipped with a hair. Edit: as the store requested in their response, I sent them an email. However, they didn't bother responding..

But the goat cheese sandwich with two thin slices was very disappointing. Also, the tables are close together, and the dishes are completely visible?! We might come back for coffee sometime, but we'll skip the food.

i was sold a dated scone today. i didn't realise it when i bought it because it was takeaway but the employee sold a scone that was not fresh without any warning. it was soft. not going there again.

They don't know how to make clotted cream. You get your tea in a glase the size of a shot glass. Takes time to get a waiters attention.

What a lovely place! I went here for dinner around 1:00 PM and we were immediately given a sunny spot. We were helped very quickly by Fien, who answered our questions with a smile. The coffee here is 10/10. And when the wind accidentally knocked over a coffee, we were immediately given a new one. I'll definitely be back. Best, Feike

For us, this is a great breakfast spot, beautifully located in Westerpark. Whether it was yogurt with fruit and granola, croissants or pain au chocolat (like in France 🤤), or even a variety of scones – we were completely happy and satisfied. We loved it and kept coming back. When the weather's nice, you can sit outside on the spacious terrace behind the house or at the front and enjoy a delicious coffee in the sunshine. Right next door, there's a separate takeaway shop that opens half an hour earlier. The café is also a great place for a healthy lunch stop. They offer soups, salads, and quiche as weekly specials. Highly recommended if you're in Westerpark.

Popped in for some quick breakfast, but was impressed enough I paused to write a quick review. The Framboos wit Chocolate Cheesecake was so very delicious. Great Cappacino and Croissants as well. Will be back for more cheesecake. EDIT: Came back for more Framboos wit Chocolate Cheesecake with another Cappacino the next day on the way to the airport. Was not disappointed.

Had such a lovely experience here for a high tea! The food was so abundant — honestly, incredible value for money. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and super satisfying. I hosted my friend’s baby shower here and was genuinely impressed with how flexible and accommodating the team was. They let me decorate the space exactly how I envisioned it, and the atmosphere was just perfect — rustic, cozy, and effortlessly chic. Everyone left full and happy — can’t recommend this place enough for a special gathering or just a delicious, indulgent afternoon treat. Will definitely be back!

What a terrible place, the staff are incredibly unfriendly. I see I'm not the only one who's unhappy about this. The owner or floor manager, in particular, is incredibly grumpy. As an Amsterdammer, I wouldn't recommend going here; there are much nicer places in Westerpark.

Poor service, high prices, and poor cleanliness.

We recently had lunch at De Bakkerswinkel in Amsterdam West. Fortunately, the food was very good – fresh, tasty and prepared with care. The atmosphere in the shop is cozy and inviting. Unfortunately, the service was quite disappointing. Upon arrival we received a dirty cup, which we had to have exchanged. Then it turned out that there was no honey, cutlery or teaspoons with the tea, so we had to go to the counter several times to arrange this. That felt a bit sloppy and not very hospitable. We understand that it can be busy, but we hope that more attention will be paid to the service in the future. Because with such tasty dishes, a little more attentive service would complete the experience.

A lot of waiting for service and so few customers (ordering, receiving the dish, paying the bill). All this so that we were served half a quiche, telling us that this is what was left.

Unfortunately a very disappointing experience. We had made reservations for a baby shower, but had to wait at the “Wait to be seated” sign for more than fifteen minutes without anyone receiving us. The table was not nicely decorated and the welcome was far from friendly. The service was poor, disinterested and the pregnant guest was not taken into account at all (also in terms of food). The final bill was higher without clear communication. Not recommended.

What a huge disappointment this tent. Not only the food, which was mediocre and unimaginative, but especially the unfriendly and uninterested staff. In particular the floor manager. Arrogant, not service oriented and downright rude. Not an ounce of hospitality or professionalism. Questions or comments are cut off or simply ignored. As a customer you definitely don't feel welcome. Chapeau Bakkerswinkel; Anyway, you lost more than 10 customers this afternoon. And with this attitude there will only be more. In short: not flexible, not service-oriented, arrogant, unfriendly, rude — and a total turn-off for anyone hoping for a nice catering experience.

Overduidelijk de populairste plek in de buurt. Mooie locatie zo bij het park, voldoende keuze. Wel erg aan de prijs (9,75 voor een tosti). Binnen is het druk en de kleine tafeltjes staan erg dicht op elkaar.

The staff is very friendly, but this place is in urgent need of renovation. The chairs are old and uncomfortable, the interior is dark and musty and what was really a huge letdown: during our lunch my friend and I saw MICE walking around our feet! Our appetite disappeared immediately, and we paid immediately. This no longer feels like a charming 'old style' atmosphere, but simply shabby. This place is crying out for a thorough makeover.

the food is really great! the scones are irresistible, but the quiche and sandwich were also delicious. the atmosphere upstairs is a bit less than downstairs, but quieter. The only downside I think is that some chairs are really no longer suitable for sitting. I like the mixed bag style, but if there's a hole about 6 inches in diameter in your chair, or it wobbles so much that you can't sit still, then it really needs to go. In my opinion, a little more attention could be paid to that. nothing but praise, absolutely recommended for a tasty breakfast or lunch.

My friends and I are traveling for leisure and we had a small waiting period for our Airbnb to check in. We lugged our suitcases with us here and were seated immediately. Everyone was so kind, the food and cappuccinos were excellent, and the atmosphere as fantastic.

The baked goods and atmosphere was so enjoyable and comfortable. We did not wait long for our table and the waitress was attentive to non-Dutch speakers. We ordered two quiches with pumpkin, goat cheese and peppers, and veg and ham. On the side, we ordered a savory scone with cream cheese which was surprisingly tasty and the scone was baked to perfection! The price was reasonable and included tips too! Will definitely visit again in the future. Highly recommend this place, may recommend to call for reservation beforehand.

Arrived here unexpectedly without having made a reservation. It soon turned out to be super busy and we had little chance of getting a table. In the end they were able to free up a table for us and thankfully! The service was very friendly and the food was super tasty.

We have been living opposite the Bakkerwinkel for six months, but decided to have breakfast there yesterday morning with my wife and son. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the great service. And good service certainly deserves my appreciation. We have therefore decided to come and have breakfast with you every two weeks on a Saturday morning. So see you soon, great guys!

Top high tea. Everything was tasty, fresh, good quality. Our group of 9 had a nice table outside. We had to move some things due to the strong sun, which was no problem and we were kindly helped. Ideal for families due to play opportunities (paddling pool nearby). Very satisfied!

I used to come here regularly with great pleasure, good food and a nice place. Today I bought everything for a picnic in the park but I was not impressed: the quiche was supposed to be caprese but when it arrived at the park it turned out to be one with beets and it really didn't taste fresh, more like a day or two old. Also the scones that were always delicious before were this time old and did not taste as if they had been baked that day: dry and grainy. I don't know if it got worse or if we were just unlucky, but I wouldn't recommend it, especially at that price. Shame!
