The food was really delicious, with everything on the table, and all the vitamins! Friendly staff.

I went here for dinner with my father and his brothers, and my niece and her husband. All Indo people. When I read the other reviews about the customer service, I hesitated for a moment, but luckily, there was nothing negative to say. We received a very friendly welcome and were regularly asked if everything was to our liking. We chose the large Indonesian rice table, and I highly recommend it. If I'm ever in Breda again, I'll definitely come back.

10jaar geleden zijn we hier voor het laatst geweest, wat me bij was gebleven was een warme en gezellige uitstraling. Vandaag maar weer eens een keertje naar Breda gereden om bij Bali te eten. Bij binnenkomst een vriendelijk ontvangst, ondanks dat we 20 minuten te vroeg waren direct een plekje gekregen. Het plekje is aan de voorkant van het restaurant, niet het meest geschikte plekje. De achterzijde straalt meer sfeer uit. De Nederlandse menu’s waren op, we moeten het doen met de Engelse versie. Laten we het simpel houden en gewoon de grote rijsttafel nemen. Als beginnen de kroepoek met satésaus, deze was een beetje waterig. We hebben maar om sambal gevraagd, deze kwam op een schoteltje met 2 varianten. De rijsttafel kwam 20minuten later, deze bestaat uit een groot aantal gerechten en de gebakken banaan mocht niet ontbreken. Niets vernieuwends waargenomen, weet niet of dit gewenst is. Het eten heeft smaak, echter niets bijzonders, aan de flauwe kant. Het eten moet warm gehouden worden door de rechauds (op kaarsje), tot onze spijt koelt het eten snel af en is zelfs al lauw voor we halverwege zijn. Gerechten worden snel koud op de plaat. We zouden het niet aanraden maar ook niet afraden om hier te gaan eten. Ligt meer aan de verwachting die er bij heerst, voor ons lijkt het nu meer op een eet schuur. Maar mogelijk is onze romantiek van 10 jaar geleden wel bij gebleven.

We hebben hier heerlijk gegeten, geen rijsttafel maar à la carte. De bediening is heel vriendelijk en checkt regelmatig of je nog iets nodig hebt. Maar we vinden de prijzen erg hoog. Garnalen koop je per stuk, saté van vier garnalen met twee eetlepels saté saus kost daardoor meer dan 20 euro. Daar krijg je verder niets bij. Bij alle hoofdgerechten moet je de rijst apart bijbestellen. Een schaaltje witte rijst: 6 euro! Ik heb heerlijke Urap Urap gegeten, maar 16 euro betaald voor een schaaltje sperziebonen, taugé en wat kokos er overheen. Jammer!

We will not be returning and unfortunately cannot recommend it to anyone.

Unfriendly service from a young man

The service of this restaurant could be much better. It is very strange that they do not answer questions via e-mail. They also stand behind the table all the time to check if everything is in order. Very annoying and strange. The food itself is fine, only if you do not order a rijsttafel it is delivered later than the rest and it did not fit on the table. Even if the entire restaurant is almost empty (on a Saturday) they still put you next to a full table which is annoying. It is also not clear which dish you will get at the rijsttafel because it is simply placed in front of you, without indicating what it is. Conclusion: Food is fine, service is terrible.

Op zaterdag einde middag met defensie vriendengroep weer eens heerlijk genoten van de blauwe hap. Wij kozen voor de grote rijsttafel. Heerlijk veel verschillende gerechten én smaken. De moeite waard.

More of a feeding shack than a good Indonesian restaurant. We were not warmly welcomed. We ordered 5 large rice tables, however all meat dishes came in portions for 2 max 3 people. We asked if this was correct, this would be checked but we did not get any feedback. The vegetables were in abundance, but with a lot of moisture. A tasty meal was not possible. There was also little chance to order something to drink. After eating we decided to leave quickly. A huge disappointment unfortunately!

We bestelden de grote rijsttafel voor 2 personen, één keer het nieuwe “menu ikan laut heek” en één keer een à la carte gerecht. De rijsttafel werd opgediend en ons werd “eet smakelijk” gewenst. Huh? Waar zijn de andere bestellingen? Na 5 minuten kwam het “menu ikan laut heek” en nog eens 5 minuten later het à la carte gerecht en de anderen maar wachten; getuigd van een slechte planning. Tijdens het eten is ons niet één keer gevraagd of het ons smaakte en of we nog iets wilden drinken. Dit laatste hebben we tot 2 keer toe zelf moeten vragen. Het eten daarentegen is prima en toen we tot slot vroegen of we het eten wat we niet hadden opgemaakt, mochten meenemen, gaf de bediening ons plastic bakjes en succes ermee. Ik had toch wel verwacht dat zij dat voor ons als gasten zouden verzorgen….niet echt gastvrij. Dus…goed eten, maar een slechte bediening.

I have been eating here for 40 years but yesterday the food was so bad. The meat dishes were very tough and dry and sometimes not hot enough. The vegetable dishes were also not particularly tasty.

Unfortunately a bad experience this time. I ordered a filleted fish, it would be 500/600 grams. First of all, there were still many large pieces of bone in it (these could not even be called bones) and there was really not much fish. This was also immediately indicated at the operator. He took the pieces of bone to the kitchen. Then he didn't come back either. I thought they would handle this nicely, I actually expected a new fish, something reduced in price or a drink on the house. But none of this. So this was also the last time here!

Delicious food. Much better than any Chinese-Indian restaurant.

It was ok to mediocre. What ruined everything is the 2 thin slices of bacon biscuit with the coffee that cost no less than 5.90. We won't come again.

Delicious !!!!!!! Here you can really relax and eat in a great atmosphere. We had a rice table, which was certainly a feast and delicious. The staff wears traditional costumes, gives just that little bit more, and is all very friendly. So highly recommended.

Het was alweer een aantal jaar geleden dat ik bij Bali James had gereserveerd. Vandaag met mijn ouders (mijn pa is een Indo van Soerabaja) hier een grote rijsttafel voor vier personen genomen. Met recht een grote rijsttafel. Grote variëteit in groente- en vleesgerechtjes. Royale porties. Uitgesproken smaken. En vooral echt pittig. Prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is uitstekend. Authentieke Indische bediening. Blijft een aanrader voor liefhebbers van de Indonesische keuken.

Kwaliteit is goed maar niet top Prijs voor een kleine rijsttafel 35 euro niet in verhouding van de kwaliteit Wijn in vieze vette glazen

Takeaway: Really bad. The tofu was very watery. Babi ketjap was more like large chunks of fat than meat. The ayam besengek sauce was very watery and lacking in flavor. Called the restaurant and they couldn't do anything. Dishes very expensive for what you get

Wat was dit slecht! Vroeger een top restaurant. We zaten aan het room en het was koud. Het eten hele kleine porties, lauw geserveerd slechte bediening. Daarbij is het nog heel duur ook. Geen afrader maar een waarschuwing. Ga er niet meer naar toe het is gewoon veel te duur en super slecht.

Heel teleurstellend. Tijdens de reservering werd niet vermeld dat er uitsluitend een menu opgediend zou worden. De perkedel werd bevroren geserveerd. Rundvlees was heel droog en de kreeft heel erg matig. De bediening was abnormaal slecht. Het eerste drankje kwam na 35 minuten. Op het nagerecht nog 35 minuten gewacht en was er toen nog niet. Zonder nagerecht vertrokken. Heel erg duur voor slechte kwaliteit en zeer slechte bediening. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

wat een desillusie, de sfeer is compleet uit het restaurant. slecht personeel, slecht eten. de oude eigenaar en personeel zorgden voor de mystieke, relaxte sfeer met uitermate goed eten.laatste paar jaar niet geweest , maar honderden malen hier gegeten .wilde graag op kerstavond zoals vroeger, hier nog graag een keer eten. we hadden 2 grote rijsttafels, bami en extra sateetjes. de sateetjes waren koud, de bami veel te heet qua peper.. niet lekker pittig gekruid. de gerechtjes haalden het niet bij wat het ooit was. droog rundvlees, groene gekookte eieren, snotgekookte spercieboontjes en alles lag in het “water” zeer zwaar aangelengd dus, fruit in een soort onopgeloste bruine brij etc etc. nee nooit meer daar eten , euro 165 voor 3 personen echt veel te duur voor hetgeen wat je krijgt. jammer daar gaat mijn “jeugd” sentiment.

How I have missed this rice table for so long. There is no end to it and everything is equally delicious. Good service and pleasant background music, everything is just right here.

Bali is certainly not the way it used to be. Messy, no reception. Operation stiff. We come there quite often, but the style and atmosphere are hard to find!!

Worthless experience, we had already read the reviews that not all dishes made it to the rice table. And indeed meat dishes had also been replaced by tofu shrimp and there were no. When we asked, the lady already looked very grumpy, she came back and literally threw the bowls on the table with a look as if she could do something to us. Just left after a failed attempt to celebrate my mother's birthday. We arrived and had to wait 20 minutes for a table that was not clean, even though we had a reservation. Afterwards we had to wait another 20 minutes before they came to hear what we wanted to drink and eat. Service was not exactly friendly so our hunger was over quickly.

Reserved table, had to wait 20 minutes in the hallway. After this we were not so kindly guided to our table, cutlery was pushed to us and was still dirty. Had to wait another 20 minutes before anyone came to ask for something to drink. Then we decided to leave the business! Hospitality was hard to find and that's what you want when you go out for a meal.

We had Nasi Goreng and crispy duck. The duck was literally some skin and a heap of bones and the rice was fairly good. It was an awful meal which we hardly touched. We had a bootle of water and an alcohol free beer and we got charged EUR 63.

Waited an hour for a bowl of prawn crackers...staff didn't seem to have the crowds under control...were busy and paid no attention to guests...ordered spekkoek for dessert for more than 5 euros...were 2 very thin slices. ..placed on a saucer...was not worth the money...quality of the food was otherwise fine. I missed a bit of attention and hospitality in this restaurant towards guests...shame!

You have to earn your reputation every day. Ordered a rice table for 9 people. One for 8 people was brought. Tasty enough, although it could be a little spicier, but that is a matter of taste. However, the fact that you have to order more everything because there simply isn't half an egg or enough rice for everyone, for example, and that this is charged separately is not nice. Also not to serve extra satay unsolicited. Even less so that you get an unsolicited bill shoved under your nose because it is apparently time to leave. Okay, it was busy and really compliments for the staff. They worked very hard and were very friendly. No compliments for the lady behind the cash register who pressed the 'no tip' button while we did give the staff a tip, but it was added to the bill. The service is good. The restaurant is well decorated with traditional Indonesian arts. The dishes we selected were very good. The chicken was well prepared. It reminds me of the familiar southeast Asian taste and aroma. The beef was spicy and very true to taste. The crispiness came through even though the slices were covered in the spicy paste. Sate was good. I wished they had a third option of sauce other than peanut or soy base. I believe the traditional sauce is coconut based. This is definitely a place worthy of your patronage. A bit of history worth mentioning is that Indonesia used to be a Dutch colony. It's not surprising to find authentic Indonesian cuisine in this country.

Eten was wel OK, maar van de menukaart kreeg ik kippenvel. Wat een arrogantie. Zie foto's. We serveren geen kraanwater. Minimale besteding voor het eten € 24,90. Ik besteedde € 23,10 en hoefde gelukkig niet bij te betalen. Ik gaf geen fooi.

What a beautiful place, you can even sit outside Balinese decor with real statues from Bali and a Balinese owner. About the food I can say that it is original Balinese cuisine, my wife is also from there. The service gives you plenty of space to be yourself in this relaxed atmosphere In short, highly recommended to visit.

Je voorgevoel is toch altijd weer correct. We gingen met goede moet maar weer eens proberen bij Bali.... Het zal deze keer toch beter zijn? Hoe kunnen ze anders open blijven? Je raad het al. Het was weer hetzelfde liedje... Te weinig geserveerd en te veel betaald voor wat je krijgt.. Taai, niet vers etc etc. Nu dan heb je een goed gevoel als je weggaat. Bali gaat op de zwarte lijst voor ons.

Wat ooit bekend stond als een goed Indonesisch restaurant was de grootste teleurstelling sinds jaren! Op alle fronten slecht! En met een aantal keren per week in restaurants eten gedurende de afgelopen 40 jaar is dit nogal wat. Voordat we iets op tafel hadden duurde ruim 1 uur. De helft van de wijnen op de wijnkaart waren er niet meer. De Tokay was overprijst en over datum. Ala carte besteld, gerechten ontbraken. Wat we krijgen was minimaal en kansloos. Personeel loopt gewoon weg als je er van van zegt. Laatste gerecht wat er nog niet was afbesteld en snel betaald (teveel). Nú heerlijk toetje en goede service in een ander restaurant. Bali is triest. Niet naar toe gaan!

We come from Belgium to live in Breda The food was delicious, but in retrospect those days are long gone. We ordered 2 large rice tables, now it comes, I miss my sambal goreng bean curd, I ask why it is included, the answer is if you want that with it, you will get one less dish, so in other words you will never get the complete rice table that you ordered . If you order 3 large rice tables you will get everything on the menu, was their answer. You only get the la boheme pralines if you order 3 large rice tables. I think it's high time that dad Steve starts running the business again, I'm just done with Bali Breda restaurant.

Delicious Indonesian cuisine, good service and friendly staff

inderdaad vergane glorie. Ik kom al meer dan veertig jaren in dit restaurant. De afgelopen jaren is de kwaliteit zo hardachteruit gehold dat ik bij iedere bezoek de stille hoop heb dat het toch weer beter is geworden. Helaas is dat niet he geval. Het begint een traditie te worden dat niet alle gerechten worden opgediend. Ik heb dan nog het geluk dat ik weet welke gerechten ontbreken. Iedere keer gaat het om de tofu en het stoofvlees. Bij ons bezoek op 2 juni 2024 has=d ik vooraf al aan de serveerster gevraagd om erop toe te zien dat alles gerechten geserveerd zouden worden. Ze deed dat en constateerde samen met mij dat de tofu en het stoofvlees ontbraken. Het lijkt erop dat bewust niet alle gerechten uitgeserveerd worden. Helaas hebben wij moeten constateren dat het eten wederom slecht was. Ik heb met de teamleider/eigenaar gesproken en het was duidelijk dat zij niet tegen kritiek kan. Het restaurant loopt goed en er komen veel mensen en er is niets veranderd aan de recepten, dat was haar reactie. De groentegerechten (tauge, boontjes, bamboe e.d.) zaten in schaaltje ontzettend aangelengd met water (was transparant). De gebakken rijst smaakt ook niet meer zoals deze voorheen deed. Twee van de stoofvleesgerechten waren taai. Dit is zo jammer. Enfin, ik ga hier niet meer naar toe ik heb de hoop opgegeven dat het weer beter wordt, zeker gelet op de reactie van de teamleider/eigenaar. Het enige positieve aan het bezoek was de serveerster.

The food in this restaurant used to be very very good. I have been visiting this restaurant for more than 40 years. My wife and I visited Bali James June 2,2024 and were very disappointed. The food was even worse than the previous time we visited Bali James. We spoke to the manager and gge manager said nothing has changed and that the restaurant is doing good. This is a huge lie and the manager knows it. The food isn’t as tasty as it was. The vegetables were terrible floating in a watery boemboe. The meat dishes were not stewed enough. The fried rice was also not as good as it was. Also, we asked the waitress to see to it that all dishes would be served because that wasn’t the case during our previous visit. We pointed out to the waitress that two dishes were missing. She was helpful and had the missing dishes served. The only positive thing about our visit to Bali James was the waitress. The lady manager doesn’t like critics and certainly doesn’t do anything with it. For me this was my last visit to Bali James. They should be ashamed!!!

Nowadays it is difficult to find a restaurant that has had the same owner for 20 years. It's not behind my corner, but every time we come to pleasant Breda I always try to convince the supporters to come and eat here. It is highly recommended if you like this genre. If you are with a couple, definitely go for the rice table and let your table be flooded with 20 small plates that all conjure up surprising flavors. Add a nice bottle of wine and your evening can't go wrong.

Disappointing! My husband and I were craving babi guling (Balinese roasted pig) for a very long time. I found it on their menu, and I was very happy. We drove there (1,5 hours) last weekend, ordered 2 "Babi Guling" and 1 sate special. The restaurant looks good until the food arrives. Basically, 2 pieces of crispy pork belly, without rice! Babi guling should be full meal (rice, sambal, urap, blood, sausage, etc)the waiter didn't say anything when we placed the order (is he expect someone to eat a piece of meat with nothing?). So we ordered plain rice for almost €6 per small bowl. It's not done yet. This fake Babi Guling was plain, almost unsalted. I tried the Sate, cold, tasteless. I was speechless. We ate the food as quickly as possible cos we were just too mad. What a disgrace. It's fine to sell pork belly, but never called it "Babi Guling" cos it is another thing! Shame on you, selling that with Bali's name and waiters dressed up on Balinese clothes! False advertisement!

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the Saoto soup that I ordered from Bali James. The soup was bland in taste and lacked the usual herbs and flavorful kick that I have come to expect from this soup. It was not the taste experience I had hoped for. It's rare for me to not finish a meal, but this time I felt compelled to do so. Unfortunately, I also found the price-quality ratio to be unbalanced. The dishes were way too expensive in relation to what was offered. I expected more for the amount I paid and felt disappointed with the value I received. And I had ordered a menu for 1 person, but to my surprise 2 dishes were missing, 1 of which was replaced by a dish that was not in the menu, namely the Babi Ketjap. When I mentioned this to the waitress I was told that not everyone likes pork so I was given a replacement dish. It was disappointing to hear that a dish from my menu was substituted without consultation, especially as the substitution was not even listed in the menu. I understand that not everyone eats pork, but it was not appropriate to simply serve another dish without communicating this. The staff didn't know how quickly to clear the table and bring the bill so they took my half full glass of Tjendol before I had finished my drink. The rushed service and lack of attention to details, such as taking my drink away without asking, negatively affected my experience. I hope the restaurant takes my feedback to heart and improves the quality of their dishes for future guests.

We chose a la carte, but are not happy with the quality. A small bowl of white rice for €5.15 and rice with a hint of herbs for just over €7. We also had chicken soy sauce and rendang, but these portions were also very small. When we indicated this, the answer was that we should have taken a rice table because you get more and that a la carte was very expensive.

Had an Indonesian rice table, which was super tasty. This is how a rice table should be, all smaller portions and more than enough. There were 7 people, the long table was completely covered with built-in hot plates, great. Food was excellent and not too spicy. Friendly service, we will definitely come back.

The meal itself was fine, but the lamb satay is not lamb but mutton... and that is disappointing if you expect to eat lamb....

If you want to taste Indonesian cuisine in Breda, restaurant Bali is the right choice.

I have been coming to this Indonesian restaurant for more than 40 years and for me it is always a pleasure to have a traditional rice table here, and the quality is always good. It is also the Indonesian authenticity that is still there after all these years that makes this restaurant one of my favorites. Recommended.

Very bad service. Had to wait more than 1.5 hours for our food. The food was only served upon request. Other tables also complained to the service. One table left out of anger without eating. Food served was lukewarm. Not just with us. Other table gave back complete rice table even though it was cold/lukewarm. What a disappointment. Once a good restaurant, there is little left of it.

Een onvergetelijke afhaalervaring! Keurige mannen in pak leverden een heerlijke maaltijd voor 15 personen, prachtig gepresenteerd. De smaak was voortreffelijk. Absolute aanrader!

Echt supper lekker en heel erg gastvrij

Lekker eten...maar wat een afzetters joh. 4pers. Rijsttafel en dan zo weinig rijs dat je voor 6EURO een kommetje bij moet bestellen. Bijna 6 euro voor een plakje spekkoek waar je doorheen kunt kijken, is niet echt gastvrij. Daarbij krijg je zeker 10 tot 5 topping die zij gerechten noemen. Alsof je gebakken uitjes ook zo eet. Eerste en laatste keer.

Het eten viel zwaar tegen. Droge vleesgerechten, taaie en oude sate. Kip lag er ook al een tijdje. Kwaliteit gaat erg hard achteruit. 250 euro voor 4 personen is dan ook veel te veel betaald.

Wij hadden een grote rijsttafel van 40eur pp. Prijs & kwaliteit slecht, paar aangebrande gerechtjes. Was ook echt veeeel te zout. Service was oke, mevrouw en jonge jongen aardig

We hadden de grote rijsttafel genomen. Bij het opdienen hadden we een vraag over het eten, maar de ober wilde niet luisteren / de vraag beantwoorden. Hij was onvriendelijk. Gelukkig hielp een vrouwelijke ober ons daarna verder. Het geserveerde eten vond ik maar zeer matig voor de prijs. Taai vlees en aangebrand. Ook was het eten te zout. De variatie ontbrak ook, veel gerechten hadden dezelfde ketjap saus. De prijs (40.80 voor de rijsttafel p.p.) kwaliteitsverhouding vond ik niet goed.

Ik neig er echt naar deze eigenaar 1 ster te geven. Maar is geef er 3 omdat ik hem de kans wilt geven zijn leven te beteren. Ik heb niet vaak dat ik me afgezet voel. Ik vind vaak wel iets duur of geen waar voor je geld...maar HIER?? Mijn god! €5.80 voor een plakje spekkoek waar je doorheen kunt kijken. Dus bijna 25 eur voor een stukje wat in de toko mss €3 kost. Dan zeg je 40 gerechtjes...maar wel 15 daarvan zijn een zuurtje...of wat kokos strooisel. Echt niet te doen! Ruim 200 euro voor 4 personen en dan kan je nog €6 bijbetalen voor een handje rijst wat ze goreng durven te noemen omdat er een half ringetje prei door zit. En hij schrijft het maar wat graag hoor. "Laughing all the way to the bank"noemen ze dat. Dus weet goed dat je voor 4 personen betaalt en er 2 normaal kunnen eten. Je kunt voor dit geld ook ook naar Red Apple.

Mooi restaurant. Vriendelijk personeel en heerlijke gerechten.

Veel voor weinig.... en dan bedoel ik veel betalen voor weinig eten.... wat je op de foto's ziet is een rijsttafel voor 5 personen....

Bediening was ronduit dramatisch, als je niet vroeg om drinken kreeg je gewoon niks. 4 man bediening op een vol restaurant. Veel te weinig. Ook een aantal keer iets besteld waar de helft niet van kwam. Stond uiteraard wel op de rekening. Schandalig. Eten niet compleet er ontbrak vanalles. Als je niet genoeg personeel hebt moet je je tent niet zo vol laten reserveren. Eten wat we kregen was wel lekker.

Supergoed eten en heerlijk zitten. N bezoek aan Bali vergeet je niet snel.

Gezellig, gemoedelijk. Eten was goed. Lekkere smaken en goed bereid.

Ik zou een 5 ster voor eten geven maar vond het jammer dat Iran met wit vis was inplaats van makreel

Geweldig lekker allemaal, erg gevarieerd en geweldig bereidt. Absoluut een aanrader! Maar. als ik ook wat kritiek mag uiten: de bediening was vriendelijk en oplettend, maar niet erg snel. Het ene schaaltje kroepoek was (met twee kinderen aan tafel) erg snel op en het was fijn geweest als er een selectie aan (bijvoorbeeld) Indonesische aperitieven werd geserveerd, waardoor de beleving wat meer uitgespreid wordt. En: ik begrijp volledig dat je in de bediening je benen uit je lijf loopt en goede schoenen noodzakelijk zijn. Maar: afgetrapte sportschoenen zijn nooit mooi, zeker als je bovenkleding dat wel is.

Het restaurant doet wat oubollig aan. Het eten was goed, met duidelijk herkenbare smaken. Ik zou er zelf niet nog een keer naar toe gaan. Ik heb begrepen dat het in Breda een goede naam heeft, maar die is misschien vooral gebaseerd op het verleden? Restaurant zat overigens wel goed vol.

Top!!! Heerlijk gegeten, snelle en vriendelijke bediening!

Wij komen al meer dan 10 jaar bij Bali James. Het is echter veel veranderd vergeleken met zo lang geleden. We hebben genoten van het eten, een kleine rijsttafel voor 3 personen. Qua hoeveelheid precies genoeg voor ons. Goede smaken en variatie. Als je echter van één ding wat meer bij wilt bestellen, wordt dit vaak 'vergeten' te brengen (dat is al zo sinds wij hier komen). Tevens kregen we minimaal één gerecht (wat we ook echt niet wilden) wat niet bij de kleine rijsttafel hoorde, waardoor we in de war waren welke rijsttafel we nu hadden gekregen. En of het een vervanging was of een toevoeging, geen idee? De inrichting van het restaurant is vrij donker en voelt formeel aan. Personeel kleurrijk en traditioneel gekleed. Sommige personeelsleden zijn vriendelijk en grappig, andere stijf en ontwijkend. Het is maar net wie je treft. Toen wij er laatst waren (op een zaterdag) was het rustig, restaurant zat verre van vol. De eerste ronde drankjes en eten werden snel opgenomen en ontvingen we ook direct. De mocktail Bali Sunset is aan te raden. Erg lekker en goede hoeveelheid, niet alleen een glas ijs. Als je later echter nog een ronde drankjes wilt bestellen is het soms lastig de aandacht van het personeel te vinden. Of voor hen om jou te vinden? Als toetje had ik een dame blanche besteld. De selectie toetjes bij Bali James is altijd al beperkt geweest. Het komt neer op spekkoek of ijs. Het vanilleijs in mijn dame blanche bevatte ijskristallen, alsof hij half ontdooid is geweest en daarna weer ingevroren. Niet echt lekker, dus dat is geen aanrader. Overall is het de moeite waard om hier te komen voor het warme eten, de rest is er een beetje op achteruit gegaan. En sommige dingen waren altijd al een beetje dubieus.

Het eten was goed. Een grote rijsttafel. De service daarin tegen was er slecht. Je moet bijna zelf naar de bar om je drank te bestellen.

Echt indisch eten zoals mijn moeder het vroeger maakte.
