Pizza was great! They had sooo many vegan options, was blown away and had a difficult time deciding. The girl who was working was such a superhero, she did everything except the pizzas and everybody’s service was great and the pizzas came out fairly quick and yeah just hands down for the waitress who was shouldering the job of at least 2 people on her own🙌 But back to the pizzas - they are a great reason for coming to this place and on tuesdays they have an offer (if you buy 3 pizzas you get a free focaccia) and also on Wednesdays there is an offer of margaritas

It is real traditional Italian pizza. You absolutely must taste it.

Delicious dough...but the toppings were unfortunately rather uninspired. My pizza had far too many capers (I like capers, but the pizza shouldn't be plastered with them), and half an olive (which, of course, didn't stand up to the capers in terms of flavor), and hardly any anchovies. You could taste the capers or the oregano in the sauce, but nothing of the other ingredients. My partner was supposed to have grilled peppers on his pizza; there was just a thin strip...oh well, but the dough was really good...it's a shame the toppings brought it down a bit. However, we ordered quite late, and perhaps they had run out of toppings.

Pizza was supposed to be available for pickup at 20:00. However, it became 20:15. No problem if the pizza is okay. However, this one was bland in taste, and due to the heavily charred crust, you mainly tasted burnt, which really wasn't nice. Doesn't seem very healthy either. A shame, because you can taste that the dough is of good quality; if it weren't so burnt… Update: Received a nice offer, given our negative experience. A very friendly—I assume the owner—sat to us in the shop and explained the previously burnt crust. We accepted her offer of two free pizzas, and both were nicely baked and very tasty!

We ate pizza with a party of 14 people including kids. Thet served the children first even though we didn't ask them too. The pizza was delicious and the sellery was a surprising good taste combi. Highly recomand this place

We had dinner with my girlfriend yesterday and were sick all night. The pizza was of poor quality or past its expiration date, and the restaurant was terribly dirty. The waitress served our pizzas on a worn piece of wood. The service was slow and the pizza maker was arrogant in his demeanor. I would not recommend it to anyone.

We arrived at this pizzeria on a Saturday evening around 8:00 PM because we had read the good reviews and wanted to eat pizza on-site. Upon arrival, we first politely asked if there was still room without a reservation. We were told that we could wait outside if necessary and come inside as soon as a table became available. We thought that was fine. However, we were never told that we would have to wait so long for the food. After a while, a table did indeed become available inside. We ordered there first and waited; afterwards, we were told that a table was free outside, so we sat down there. From that moment on, the long wait began. The restaurant is very small, as is the wood-fired oven, and it was completely full. Meanwhile, customers kept coming in continuously for takeaway orders. Our pizzas were finally served only after 1 hour and 40 minutes, as the last table of the evening. Moreover, my daughter's pizza arrived with burnt crusts, as can be seen in the photo. What we found particularly disappointing: if the capacity of the restaurant and the oven is so limited, it might have been better to politely tell us that it wasn't possible without a reservation, especially with a child, instead of making us wait so long. Also, continuing to accept takeaway orders during such a busy time did not seem like a good choice to us. I hope to write this review as constructive feedback to help maintain the quality of the service. We visit Maastricht often, but unfortunately, this is not a place we will be returning to. We also found the other two pizzas to be quite average in taste in the end.

This pizzeria genuinely surprised me. The flavour, the preparation, the final product, all outstanding, and the staff were kind and attentive. We went for the Salsiccia and a cheese and tomato one the first time we went, both baked in a handmade wood-fired oven. The place itself is small, with no delivery, though you can get it for takeaway. The portion is just right to leave one person perfectly full. As someone who knows Italian food, I can say the quality is really high. When we picked them up they were piping hot, with an amazing aroma. My only small note would be the tomato topping: I'd expected it baked in rather than added fresh. Even so, the overall flavour was incredible, so it's more a personal preference than an actual complaint. Now that I've moved to Maastricht for my studies I'll definitely be back. This place is a gem. Update: I have actually came back another two times, and there is no beating this flavour in Maastricht. Most pizzas are 10-15€.

Went 4 years ago and had a really great meal. Last night, we wanted to grab a nice pizza on the terrace with friends. In the end, after ordering, we had to wait more than 1 hour and 20 minutes for our pizzas. When you pay and mention that it took a bit longer than expected, the Italian pizza maker got nicely and aggressively irritated. He actually said he wouldn't want to work there anymore, which is why he's taking it nice and easy 👍🏼👍🏼. Those were his words. I would recommend getting takeout here or sitting down if you are in anything but a rush.

The pizzas were absolutely delicious, and I thought the pricing was reasonable for the quality. The only downside for me was the interior... We were sitting very close to other people (and could just hear their whole conversation) and the chairs aren’t comfortable.

We had the spicy Salami, Pesto, Frutti di Mare, and Calzone which were all were delicious. The location has a nice rustic vibe and the staff were friendly too. If you come on the weekend, you should probably reserve though.

The service is amazing and very attentive. The open kitchen concept makes it interesting to watch, and the food was prepared quite quickly. The only drawback is that it can be a bit loud when you are sitting close to the kitchen area, which sometimes makes conversation a little difficult. Still, it is a nice place to enjoy pizza outside the city.

- very bad experience - Answer based on your last update: You/your team didn't mention any time frame such as 30 min. Even then it wouldn't be a problem for us to wait outside and START eating inside. Besides, the other guests sitting behind us in another table were definitely not happy, even almost started a fight with us saying, they were earlier then us and they should sit before us (which wasn't a case, we were earlier obviously). But because of we really didn't ruin anyone else's experience, we offered them as if they really NEED to sit earlier then us, they can let us know. Of course the answer was, no thats fine (cause the initiation was already not because of a NEED but because they were unhappy/aggressive too). Besides, why they then went back inside and did not order more food outside if it was not that cold for them? So please stop using other factors for continuing manipulating the situation. Thank you for your apologies. And there were days obviously warmer in March then yesterday, and I don’t care other peoples wish to eat cold pizza outside. Outside tables were not even set up for service. I really wanted to come here because this place was praised so often. I had planned to go a few times, but because you don't open until 5:30 PM, it usually didn't fit into my schedule. Yesterday, I went anyway, intending to eat a hot pizza in a warm environment. Because there was no room inside, you first asked if I wanted takeaway. NO, I don't want that soggy taste of pizza from a paper box. Then you asked if I wanted to eat outside. NO, I don't want to eat my pizza cold either. Next, you asked if I wanted to wait outside until a spot became available inside. Okay, that is a normal situation you encounter in other restaurants as well. At many places, I have had to wait a long time, but eventually, I was able to sit inside, and it was totally worth it. This is where the problem really begins. I went outside to sit in the cold just to wait. Why was my pizza served outside then? The table outside wasn't even suitable for eating at. There wasn't even a salt shaker for the pizza (understandable, as it was way too cold to eat outside), which, moreover, tasted quite bland. On top of that, the pizza that was brought was already quite cold. That is truly a terrible experience when eating pizza. The sides were also burnt; I couldn't eat them. And then I come to the second and VERY BIG problem. I hope you are aware that your response to the other review — “Sorry for your bad experience. Unfortunately, as our staff told you, tonight without a reservation we had no table inside. We offered you a table inside as soon as we had one, and we offered you several times to come in, but it is our understanding that you decided to stay outside. Very sorry for the experience QdB61” —is simply a lie. We were only called back inside when a spot finally became available, and by then we only had 2 slices of pizza left. Why did we have to go inside then? You must be joking. You absolutely did not offer us “several time” to sit inside. Even though we had said from the start that we would only wait outside, you served the pizza outside, and cold at that. And in your response, you try to manipulate the situation, as if we were the ones who insisted on sitting outside and as if we are making this review up out of thin air. A huge disappointment that ruined my evening.

Pizza was mediocre. You can find similar Napolian pizzas all over the town. Pizza is okay but unfortunate started when we gave away voluntarily after we sit our table to 4 people (we were 2, we thought we can sit somewhere else inside). After that we were said that we can wait outside in cold. We said okay we can wait until it becomes free inside so we could enjoy our “promising” pizzas but they served our pizza while we were waiting in chilly outside. That degraded our experience very much. They called us inside once after our pizza already almost finished so answer to that review is not true

Well you have to give it 5 Stars because it was simply great. The pizza is made directly in front of you and very fresh. Dough is great and great Italian flavor. Fair price also. But it gets crowded, so bring some time Also great plus is the free water jug. Wonder why not everyone does this

All right, I'll try to be nice about this one as I am aware it's an exception. It was my first time at Bancale61. Service was super friendly, if slightly slow. My pizza was on the cold side, but tasted great. My girlfriend's pizza had a weird, earthy taste to it that she thought was the Gorgonzola, but I recognised as somewhat mouldy bread. We're 24 hours further now and she's just stopped vomiting. So, I guess it was the latter. Three stars, because I don't want to drag an otherwise perfectly good and friendly restaurant down. But folks, be more careful about your ingredients becauise something was thoroughly off, and food poisoning is no joke. Considering my girlfriends' other physical issues and how rare it is to be able to go out at all, it's quite painful and a reason for me to not risk going to Bancale61 again.

Go to plan B, the pizza is a thousand times better. I gave it another try after the last time, but it was burnt, and the mozzarella and sauce generally tasted awful. Also, the place smells of smoke, which indicates that the wood-fired oven is clearly not cleaned properly, which explains all the negative comments.

The Pizza is amazing. The prices Are moderately high. The Service is excellent. I would redesign the interrior. The industrial design is not comfy nor welcoming. But all in all Great Job!

Lovely traditional Italian pizzeria. We ate here with a group of 20 swimmers after the Dutch Championships, and the whole place was blocked off for us. The waitresses were very friendly and the food was truly delicious! 🍕 They even accommodated our large group for the appetizer and prepared delicious charcuterie platters for us! Ordered two pizzas for €34, and both ended up in the trash. The calzone came without any sauce, making it completely dry and tasteless (it’s just dry dough with some ham, onions and tomato). To be fair the menu didn’t say the pizza had sauce on it. So it’s my fault I didn’t read it thoroughly enough. The salami pizza had raw salami thrown on top, something I cannot eat as a pregnant woman. Nowhere on the menu did it say that the salami would be added raw. When I called to address the issue, the response was unhelpful and unfriendly. I was basically told that this is just how it’s done in Italy. There was no interest in customer satisfaction whatsoever; no apology, no compensation. I find this extremely unprofessional. Whether this is the Italian way or not is beside the point. Such details should always be mentioned on the menu. It’s not only unprofessional but also unsafe. As a restaurant owner, you have a responsibility to consider food safety. In the Netherlands, it is not the standard to put raw salami on a pizza. Of course, you can choose to do things differently, but you should inform your customers correctly about raw meat. I shouldn’t have to throw away a paid pizza simply because I wasn’t warned. What else might they do without mentioning it? Add nuts without saying so?

We had the best pizza ever here. Truly delicious! What a selection of pizzas, including many vegetarian options. It's small but very cozy. Make a reservation in advance to guarantee a seat. Friendly service, and you can get inspiration for home while you wait by browsing through the many pizza cookbooks. Highly recommended!

Small place with only about 15ish seats but if it's full, take the pizza to-go! There was a long line but it moved fast and we only waited about 10 minutes for our pizza. The staff was very warm and friendly, all from Italy. The perfect hole-in-a-wall with exceptional pizza making for an ideal quick dinner.

A very small and lovely restaurant with very friendly staff. It's authentic Italian, but they have a separate menu with vegan pizzas. The one I had was delicious! It's a shame Maastricht isn't around the corner, otherwise I would have tried all the pizzas. Highly recommended! It's located right on the street, which is fine on a quiet day, but not very atmospheric. Inside, it's nicely decorated; you can see the oven where the pizzas are baked.

I decided to visit Bancale 61 because of the many reviews praising their vegan options, but I left disappointed. While it’s great that they offer several vegan pizzas, the ingredient combinations just didn’t work for me. I even tried customizing one by removing a couple of toppings, but the flavors still tasted off and a bit mismatched. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t saved by the atmosphere either. The place didn’t feel very clean, and the service was mediocre at best. I really wanted to like this spot, but it just didn’t live up to the hype.

The pizza tastes excellent. The ambiance is rustic but authentic. Only the chairs are a bit uncomfortable. We would go again.

I went to this pizzeria for an Italian pizza. I must say the staff was very friendly and the service was quick. The pizza was very good with good ingredients. The crust was thick, like a Neapolitan pizza, and it was well-cooked. I didn't like a couple of things that I think would benefit from more attention if they wanted to improve the quality: Cleanliness: not exactly the best, tables were unkempt and cleaned in a cursory manner. Worst of all were the tables made of pallets, where dirt accumulates between the wooden boards and is difficult to clean and remains. (It would be better if they installed a nice glass top; it would make things cleaner and the feeling of eating on the pallet wouldn't change.) I should also add that the table is slightly too low for tall people, making it uncomfortable to sit while eating among the pallets. Perhaps it's better at the other tables in the restaurant. Again, about cleanliness, why serve pizza on wooden cutting boards? (I'm a fan of wood in the kitchen, but I also know how difficult it is to clean it with natural methods that aren't practical in places open to the public.) They don't serve alcoholic beers due to a lack of a license... I hope the criticism is taken in its entirety, because the pizza and the service were excellent.

They focus on the pizza, not on the place. Very good pizza, nice crust and very tasty. They have many crazy combinations. Service was okay, nothing special. The place is very basic, no decorations and you even walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. But don't get me wrong, I totally recommend it and I will hopefully come again to try another pizza. And they have many vegetarian and vegan options.

They are very kind, but they do not know what is pizza. The dough was far from what it is supposed to be, weird spices in the tomato sauce, low quality mozzarella, and black pepper on margherita. Please do not call yourself Neapolitan pizzeria. Probably you may like it if you are not looking for a Neapolitan pizza.

Pizzas were delicious, although a bit on the pricey side. The restaurant is more of a takeaway, with only a few rickety tables and pallets to eat at and loud music. So this is a great restaurant for takeaway, but you don't have to go here for a nice evening of dining out.

Ordered 11 pizzas at prime time. All pizzas were prepared with love and passion. Everyone who ate them, including the kids, was very satisfied. One of the best pizzas we've ever eaten. Thank you all for your trip to Italy! 🇮🇹

Had super tasty pizzas and eldest daughter ate a focaccia. Easy to pay, especially the drinks (non-alcoholic). The chairs were less comfortable (hence 4 stars here), but fortunately the pizzas were on the table so quickly that we finished eating within an hour. Nice atmosphere too, because Italian is spoken and the Italian radio was also on :)

Na de positieve recensies waren we erg benieuwd naar deze pizzeria, maar helaas viel onze ervaring tegen. De inrichting is simpel: je zit op opgestapelde pallets met dunne kussentjes, en de sfeer is behoorlijk rumoerig. De service schiet tekort; na het eerste drankje werd er niet meer gevraagd of we nog iets wilden bestellen of of alles naar wens was. Over drank gesproken: naast fris is er alleen alcoholvrij bier verkrijgbaar, en de drankjes werden lauw en in vettige glazen geserveerd. De hygiëne was ronduit ondermaats. Het toilet was niet schoon en alleen bereikbaar via de keuken, wat geen fijne indruk achterliet. Ook de servetten waren vies en de pizza’s werden geserveerd op houten planken, die simpelweg met een borstel bij de wasbak werden geboend. Gelukkig waren de pizza’s zelf uitstekend: rijk van smaak en authentiek Italiaans. Ons advies? Bestel hier je pizza, neem hem mee en geniet er ergens anders van.

Ate real pizza for the first time in my life. (the junk from other restaurants shouldn't really be called pizza after this experience in my opinion). The atmosphere of the restaurant is very hipster, I would call it, nice and quiet. Waitress only forgot our drinks hence 4 stars for service.

I ordered over the phone at 25 past and was given a pick up time at 45, but ended up getting my Pizza only another 20min later. There was not even an apology for that. Uncoordinated team that is talking everything through the three of them. The decor is super basic and kind of run down too, definitely needs a refresh. Coming to the most important part, the food. Well thanks to a good dough and the wood fire oven it was ok, but far from really good as the artichoke had a very strong pickled taste and the ham was put on cold which made the whole pizza taste colder. And with 17€ the Pizza was also not cheap enough to accept that lower quality. Actually I only went there because may favourite places in town had closed today. Maybe next time on a Tuesday I choose Ramen over Pizza.

Cannot recommend. They said the pizzas would be done in 10 minutes, but it took 35 minutes. I had a pizza salmon and the amount of salmon on my pizza was maybe 2 cm of fish? Absolutely nothing and I feel scammed. I expect that from a place like dominos pizza, but not from an expensive pizza like this.

After living in Naples for a year and visiting the many renowned pizzerias there, it is always interesting to discover which pizzeria in Maastricht makes the best Neapolitan pizzas. After my visit to Il Bancale I can say without a doubt that this pizzeria makes the tastiest pizzas in Maastricht! Although the pizzas seem a bit on the smaller side at first glance, they are richly topped and very filling. The flavors of the ingredients are top-notch. Moreover, Il Bancale offers a varied menu with well-designed pizzas, so there is something for everyone. The service can seem a bit slow, but it was quiet during my visit, so I personally wasn't bothered by this. However, it is something to take into account when it is busy. The pizzas are on the pricey side, but the taste and quality definitely make it worth visiting Il Bancale at least once. Definitely recommended.

As an Italian I rate this pizza as extremely mediocre. The dough is vaguely similar to a real Neapolitan pizza, discreet ingredients, but the thing that left me most disappointed was the completely burnt pizza base. The pizza chef should pay more attention to cooking pizzas and clean the oven more often. The burnt and black part of the pizza is highly carcinogenic!
