Hele slechte ervaring gehad. We kwamen hier voor brunch/lunch. We werden in eerste instantie vriendelijk geholpen door een jonge dame. Niets op aan te merken. Echter leek de 'verse jus' niet vers. Vervolgens bestelden we beiden scrambled eggs. Wat wij vervolgens kregen leek qua uiterlijk en smaak echter helemaal niet op scrambled eggs. De kleur was donker geel en leek een soort van uitgedroogd. De substantie had meer weg van eiersalade en de sla die erop lag was al helemaal verschrompeld/uitgedrood. Ook de smaak was echt niet lekker. Toen een Engels sprekende dame ons vroeg of alles naar wens was hebben we eerlijk gezegd dat we het niet zo lekker vonden en het niet echt vonden lijken op scrambled eggs, waarop zij heel serieus antwoordde dat het dat wel was en 'freshly made this MORNING'. We vielen bijna van onze stoel. We hebben dus voor onze lunch de opgewarmde scrambled eggs van die ochtend gekregen. Niets vers aan in mijn ogen. Even als dus de 'verse jus'. We hebben het niet opgegeten en alles netjes afgerekend voor ook nog niet een kleine prijs. Ik heb zelden zo'n slechte ervaring ergens gehad. Zeker niet met lunch, een simpel broodje met geklutst ei.

We had a really bad experience. We came here for brunch/lunch. Initially, we were helped kindly by a young lady. Nothing to complain about. However, the "fresh juice" didn't seem fresh. Then we both ordered scrambled eggs. What we received didn't look or taste like scrambled eggs at all. The color was dark yellow and seemed dried out. The texture was more like egg salad, and the lettuce on top was completely shriveled/dehydrated. The taste was also really bad. When an English-speaking lady asked us if everything was to our liking, we honestly said we didn't like it that much and didn't think it really resembled scrambled eggs. She seriously replied that it was and "freshly made this MORNING." We nearly fell off our chairs. So, for lunch, we got the reheated scrambled eggs from that morning. Nothing fresh about them in my opinion. The same goes for the "fresh juice." We didn't eat it and paid for everything, which wasn't a small price either. I've rarely had such a bad experience anywhere. Especially not at lunch, a simple sandwich with a scrambled egg.

After a day of shopping in the alley, we had dinner on the terrace. The waitress, who seemed very professional and friendly, pointed us to the drinks menu. We ordered fries, grilled cauliflower, green asparagus, and chicken from it. Everything was served quickly and tasted delicious. Definitely a place to return to.

A really nice place. Good, efficient service, delicious food, great atmosphere. It's a shame the kitchen closes so early on Friday evenings and the last round starts early. It feels like leaving the church before the singing starts. The Dutch hospitality industry doesn't understand nightlife anyway.

I had dinner here with my 21-year-old daughter on Sunday evening, April 14. We chose a table inside and had to make an effort to contact the waiter for the menu. As a starter we had a burrata and carpaccio. The buratta was fine but not of high quality, the carpacccio had green garnish leaves that were bent from the dryness. I don't understand how a chef would let this leave the kitchen like that. As a main course we had the cote de boeuff for two people. According to the card it would be 800 grams. I didn't think we had a plank with 800 grams of meat. During the meal the service showed very little interest in us. For dessert we had cheesecake, which was very tasty, and a cheese board, where unfortunately the structure of the cheeses was not quite right. The spiciest cheese was third on the board, followed by a milder cheese, which made it taste very bland. The decoration was very cozy with different levels, street level, basement level and upstairs room level. The background music was in the foreground, so we asked if it could be turned down a bit. All in all we spent 164 euros and I didn't think it was worth it.

Het voelt alsof je het personeel tot last bent. Daarnaast was de borrelhap (kipvleugels) niet lekker. De kaart beloofde kipvleugels met sinasappel, knoflook en oregano. Wat ter tafel gebracht werd waren stukken kip gedumpt op een bodem van goedkoop smakende mayonaise.

Went to eat here with my friends, we didn't like it at all, we had a toasted sandwich with cheese and scrambled egg with pink sauce, we are going to eat somewhere else because we feel nauseous.

Last Friday we spontaneously had dinner here with 4 people, including 2 children. The children had a choice of 1 children's menu, which was well received: fries, chicken pieces, cucumber and tomatoes. The adults both had the chicken salad and the roasted sweet potato. It all tasted delicious. The service was friendly. The only point for improvement: There was a thick layer of dust on the shelves in the toilet, which is not nice if you are allergic.

Found it disappointing. Upon entering we were not really well received and almost everyone spoke English. We were not guided to a table and had to choose ourselves. It took a long time before we got the card after that. It was all expensive. We had a salmon sandwich, €15,-, but it had super thin salmon on it and the bread was dry. After that, we were no longer looked after or asked if we were happy. We were also no longer asked if we wanted something to drink or something like that. If you go to such a pricey restaurant, I expect the service to be better. I personally wouldn't go again.

Had a delicious meal with a group. Even though it was not à la carte, there was still a wide choice. Friendly and knowledgeable lady at the counter. Dishes were perfectly cooked and with the right garnishes. Side dishes were unique and flavorful! (Like the whole grilled cauliflower). The photos show a starter of burrata and a main course duo of duck.

Het restaurant stonk naar riool. Het eten voor een rafel van 4 kwam in delen & de bouillabaisse was lauw, smakeloos en rook niet fris! De buratta van het voorgerecht was droog. Al net al een zeer tegenvallende ervaring. Zo is uit eten gaan toch echt minder leuk. Voor ons geen nieuwe reservering meer bij dit restaurant terwijl de foto’s op de website zo hoopgevend waren.

This was not a good experience. Our first choice on the menu was not available (cote de boeuf) and at the replacing dish only 1 of the 2 portions of diamanthaas were as we ordered (medium rare). Mashed potatoes were cold and not well prepared and the peas were rock hard. The waitress didn’t ask when finishing up if we had a pleasant meal (so we could have provided this feedback in person) or ask if we wanted desert or coffee. And there was a bad smell in the restaurant. I admit: this is probably out of the sphere of control, but it didn’t contribute to a good experience for us.

We were very disappointed, the first thing we noticed was the irritating sewage smell, not pleasant in combination with food. The food was great. We had the cote du beuf that came with grilled cauliflower. Its a two person dish and was well prepared. We ordered fries on the side but honestly just the meat and veg would have been enough. Atmospheric but calm enough to have a decent conversation. Situated in a cozy street with many other places. Staff was very friendly and didn't seem understaffed or stressed. The gruner veltliner was very nice, for white wine lovers. Would go again!

An unexpected alley in the heart of the center where several restaurants are located, such as BREN, where we had dinner. A pleasant ambiance where a bistro hotel chic atmosphere is the look. The kitchen really surprised us, certainly worthy of a restaurant. The bouillabaisse, wild salmon and grilled cauliflower have no fuss but contain the right ingredients and therefore taste. We had two side dishes as a starter, which was a lot. The main course was with risotto and very very salty. We were offered tea as compensation.

The main courses were tasty and the service was friendly. Two minor points: there was a kind of sewage smell in the restaurant and that was quite unpleasant upon entering. We were also asked if we wanted a sandwich beforehand and we were hungry for this. Now I don't mind paying money for this, but a shelf with way too much bread for 2 people is a bit too much and a waste of bread that has to be thrown away.

I wasn't okay with it! I had dirty stains in my wine glass (looked like food remains), then I asked if I could get a new wine and I was looked at strangely. In the end I got a new wine and guess what, there were dirty stains in my wine glass again (I left it at that, but I don't have to come back anymore) I also had a croquette sandwich, but the bread was too hard. If I had braces, they would have fallen out. otherwise a nice place for a restaurant.

Was helaas een tegenvaller. Na eerst 20 minuten te hebben gewacht voordat onze drankjes werden opgenomen, moesten we vervolgens nog een keer 15 minuten wachten tot het eindelijk kwam. Excuus was dat de glazen op waren?!? Bediening was verder zeer onpersoonlijk en had nul aandacht voor de gasten, er waren zelfs mensen die weg liepen omdat ze niet werden geholpen. Dan het eten, helaas ook niet best. Vooraf hadden we charcuterie met tomatentapenade en olijven. De olijven misten, wel een enorme berg aan gerookte amandelen en soepstengels. Vlees was matig. Daarna hadden we allebei bouillabaisse, dat was helaas niet meer dan een wat laffe bouillon met vooral veel mosselen en een stuk keihard brood met rouille erop gesmeerd. Misschien moet de kok nog even opzoeken wat een bouillabaisse is? Al met al erg zonde van de avond en het geld.

We came with a group of 11 and opted for the group menu. 2 of the colleagues received a semi-cold quiche, which was quickly pushed back into the oven, making it completely inedible afterwards and we also reported this. As a "gesture" we were offered a coffee on the house, which was included in our group menu (so no gesture for me), but we were quickly charged for the 2 quiches on the bill, as well as the full amount of the group menu per person, while there also fewer desserts were ordered.

Unfortunately, this evening was not the evening we expected. The service started out messy. We had a group arrangement and still received the menu card. We could then submit these for the menu options. The waitress could have used a can of deodorant. Especially since it had to go over us to operate the other side of the railing. My colleagues' puff pastry tart could better be called a frozen quiche with a lot of egg. We have also indicated that. Since it was still very cold inside. This was warmed up in the microwave and given back. And I think the placement of the toilet right next to the open kitchen is a special choice. I would have at least put a door in here. Everyone walks past the kitchen and the food, shaking hands (to shake off the water after the minimal water trickle from the tap and the subsequent bad blowers). The desserts were also very disappointing. Cheesecake is cottage cheese in a bowl and in my rhubarb trifle the gelatinous substance is more like candle wax than the airy substance it was supposed to be. Oh and to compensate for the bad quiche, my colleague supposedly got coffee on the house. While she had already chosen this instead of a dessert that was already included in the menu price. Went here yesterday with 7 people. We were late (we had called in advance) but luckily that was no problem. The service was very relaxed and friendly. The food was delicious, we had the salmon, burrata and carpaccio as a starter, and the diamond tenderloin and cod as a main course. The dishes are well prepared and everything looks neat. Delicious cocktails too! Definitely recommended.

We had a great experience at Bren. The service was warm and friendly. The different dishes were all above our expectations. Not the most cheap restaurant, but the quality for the price you pay was very high! Would recommend to go here for an intimate dinner with a smaller group of friends or family.

Beautiful restaurant, excellent service, but I didn't think the two dishes I ordered were great (mushroom pate and celeriac steak), which unfortunately made the experience disappointing.

Very nice restaurant in one of the nicest streets in Utrecht. I really enjoyed the ambiance, even though it was a bit too warm inside. Start with a crispy, well-baked sandwich with surprising dips and burrata. It is quite large so sharing is recommended. The duck duo was a hit, as was the sirloin steak. Be sure to order the fries, which come with truffle salt. We ended the evening with friandises and coffee, which is a good option if you are already quite full but would still like to taste something sweet. See you soon!
