Lovely spot: delicious food in a beautiful restaurant, enjoy drinks in the stunning café Bar Joris next door, or relax by the fireplace, which also has a play area for children. Nice terrace in the middle of the old, historic town.

I wanted to have a nice meal here with my friends. Everyone received their food promptly within 15 minutes, but I just kept waiting. Then, 40 minutes had passed, everyone had finished their food, and I still hadn't received anything. I then pointed out that I hadn't received anything, and the waitress said she would look into it again. 20 minutes later, still nothing, so I decided to just pay. I mentioned it to the staff but got the response: "Oh oops... uhh sorry." And that was it. Very disappointing, because I was really looking forward to my sandwich.

Lunch on the terrace was tasty (flammenkuchen and ham sandwich) and the staff friendly. However, I still don't like being addressed as 'hiiiiiiii'. And perhaps consider getting different knives; cutting the flammenkuchen felt very much like work.

It is a pity that there is no smoke-free zone on the terrace.

We live in France, but the lunch at Joris surpasses the French! Kudos to the chef, but also to the super-friendly staff. We hope to return here often during our holidays in the Netherlands.

Ate outside in early April 2026, just because we could! The hamburger was disappointing. Quite a dry piece of meat, the pickled onions were okay, but otherwise pretty dreary. The fries weren't anything special. Why they came with mustard mayonnaise, I have no idea...

We had lunch together. The service was friendly and excellent. Unfortunately, it took a while to get our food. However, the quality of the Caesar salad and the club sandwich was excellent. It was quite noisy because it was so busy. From now on, we'll come a bit earlier and hope for a quieter atmosphere.

I've been here several times over the past few years, but to be honest, it's never quite right. Yesterday I ordered a main course, the corn-fed chicken. In light of the rest of the menu, it looked like half a chicken or something, but it was two lean pieces of chicken breast, a tiny chicken leg, and four small pieces of beetroot. The plate was beautifully presented and tasted fine, but this was a starter, not a main course in terms of quantity. When the others at the table are eating hamburgers and there are cups of ordinary fries on the table, it feels strange. It feels like they're trying to be a fancy restaurant with the chicken, but they only have a burger and give you a plate of fries with everything to make sure you go home with something approaching a full stomach. With a main course, I expect at least a proper amount of vegetables and protein. If I want small bites, I'd rather go to a "better" restaurant where I can expect that too. It's a shame, because the taste itself is fine, but with this amount, it's an expensive meal.

We had a great meal here last Saturday, but when we got the bill, we were quite surprised to see a 0.50 cent charge for a slice of orange in ginger tea. That's a bit excessive, isn't it? I found it rather hilarious.

Relaxed atmosphere and delicious food. Excellent menu with plenty of choices. The vegetarian options could be a bit more extensive these days.

The food was tasty and we had a great time, but we think it is too expensive because it has to be fully booked when ordering and it is very expensive. We expected more from it and we think we will not eat it again.

Warm bar restaurant, we were very well received, with a smile, even if we do not speak the language of the country. The waitress spoke very good English, no problem understanding. Our dishes were very good and the quantities were sufficient with the accompaniments. The cocktails are also very good!

Lousy gentleman/bouncers at the door. Were invited to eat at Wills and wanted to have a drink afterwards. We were waiting for 20 minutes... smokers in and out and enough people went. 3 of our group are allowed in. It wasn't busy inside. The rest were not allowed in or had to wait a long time. The bouncer was too busy smoking butts I guess.

On a summer evening we enjoyed a lovely terrace in IJsselstein at Bar Brasserie Joris. Rivella for my wife and a Brand Weizsen on tap for me and after hearing the explanation from the waitress that the idea is to have none! choose the standard starter and dessert, but choose 2 or 3 dishes in the main form. My wife's choice was a goat's cheese salad for 9.75. Dinner price is 9.75, but lunch is just as expensive but is really twice as much). my 1st choice was a mackerel tartare which was very tasty but costs 12.50. This tartare was on the small side, too big for 2 pieces of sushi. my choice 2 was the roasted salmon with ginger and 10.50 in price. just as big as the mackerel tartare but with way too much ginger (3 large stacks) because I didn't taste any more of the salmon as the ginger has quite a dominant taste and you can't taste the salmon and you can't see or taste the roasted either. I still consumed 2 brandies and a white wine. As a side dish a bowl of fries with a very small bowl of mustard mayo for 4.50 and freshly baked bread with herb mayo also for 4.50. Actually my wife and I would have liked a dish. but our feeling in terms of costs was not good when I see the price-to-quantity ratio, and that worked out well because we paid 65. terrace is really nice, service excellent, but no more dinner here, just a beer or wine is fine for us.

Food was okay. Only the service left much to be desired. Every time we had to ask for attention. Waited for about 20 minutes with empty starter plates. Then we walked to the bar and asked for service. When the main course was half finished, the accompanying garnish was served. I think the bartender was the only one who understood service, he offered us 2 drinks on the house afterwards. The rest of the staff only delivers and collects.

Cozy restaurant, friendly service and nice location in the old center. For lunch I had a fish platter. Ok, but not very imaginative. The factory toast that was served with it was disappointing. The flammkuche that my table companion ordered is very large, actually too large for a lunch dish, but very tasty.

Gratis parkeren in de garage nabij de kerk. Daarna vijf minuutjes lopen naar dit restaurant. Ik zie niet gelijk de ingang en mijn gast ook niet. Mooie zaak van binnen. We worden goed bediend (ook door meisje net begonnen, wel met ervaring). Kalfstartaar lekker met eitje en mijn kalfsvlees als hoofdgerecht was heerlijk zacht. Prima om hier te eten. Prijzen mogen wel iets lager is mijn mening.

Atmosphere is good, but a lot of noise, due to hard, smooth materials, this is now the third time I eat oysters at Joris, and the oyster meat is terribly small, I will not order that again.

Interieur veranderd en kwam ongezellig over. Toen we aan tafel zaten duurde het lang voor de kaart kwam. Uitgekozen lunchgerecht was tegenstrijdig qua peijs kwaliteit. Visplatau suggereert een groor gerecht maar was een klein bordje. Te weinig voor teveel geld €19,50. Teleurstellend en erg jammer.

Nice location for dining. Beautiful building in the middle of the old center of IJsselstein, opposite the old town hall. The dishes were just as desired, but we thought the price was on the high side. We also found the restaurant acoustically very noisy due to the talking of the other guests.

Hele goede wijn-spijs avond. Heerlijke gerechten in combinatie met lekkere wijnen van de wijnintermediair. Aanrader!

Hartelijk ontvangen, goede bediening! Snel, correct en prima prijs. Echter de clubsandwich was zeer grof opgebouwd, halve eieren, grote stukken kip en grof brood, jammer. Als ik een hap van een club neem wil ik zoveel mogelijk smaken in mijn mond, niet steeds alleen ei of alleen kip of alleen brood. Verder prima tent!

Sinds ik in IJsselstein woon is Joris bijna een wekelijkse "must", midden in het stadje, aan de eeuwenoude Plaats, tegenover het oude Raadhuis, je voelt de geschiedenis! Maar wat en bovenal hoe ze het brengen: vrolijk,deskundig

Was geweldig, aardig personeel, eten was heerlijk. Echt een aanrader.

Gezellig restaurant met vriendelijke bediening. Denken mee over speciale dieetwensen en hebben vegetarische opties. Rolstoel toegankelijk met wat hulp ivm stijle opgang. Fijn dat ze vragen of je snel door wilt naar de volgende gang of liever even wat tijd er tussen. Eten was lekker, waarbij ik de voorgerechten lekkerder vond dan de hoofdgerechten. Is uiteraard persoonlijk. Vergeet niet het grote terras bij lekker weer!

Voorgerecht was prima Bouilibaise en carpaccio. Hoofdgerecht canard was de ride bieten meer dan de eend en niet lekker. Entrecote was aardig maar groente ook niet lekker. Werd niet gevraagd of we frites erbij wilde. Tevens moet je hier voor betalen. Bediening te traag. Viel tegen Was vroeger veel beter

Mooie locatie, mooi interieur en de bediening is erg vriendelijk. Het eten is lekker, maar niet uitzonderlijk. De porties zijn klein.

Keurige zaak, wat kleine porties maar wat me in het bijzonder stoort is dat je 5,50 euro mag aftikken voor een glaasje Merlot. Voor dat bedrag koop je een fles en vraag me af waarom de prijzen zo enorm omhoog gekrikt worden. Erg jammer!

Leuke locatie in de oude binnenstad bij het oude Stadhuis van Ijsselstein. Vriendelijke bediening 👍🏼. Heerlijke steak tartaar genoten.

Heerlijk eten en lekkere drankjes en hele vriendelijke personeel

Uitstekende, vriendelijke service. Mooi opgemaakte borden en goede kwaliteit van zowel groentes als vlees en vis.

Mijn echtgenoot was hier eerder geweest. Je kunt er heerlijk lunchen/dineren/drankje doen. Het wat oude gebouw heeft een stadse allure. Er is links van hoge ingang/hal, een afgesloten zaal. Het eten werd best snel gebracht, zag er verzorgd uit.

Gisteren met 2 personen geluncht op het terras. Beide "Broodje Carpaccio" besteld met truffel mayonaise. Carpaccio was geen Carpaccio, maar rosbief en weinig truffel mayonaise en rauwkost. Voor mij geen Joris meer.

Heerlijk gegeten hier. Vriendelijk personeel, goede locatie in IJsselstein.

"Mooie plek voor een drankje, maar ik vind de prijsverhouding van de zeer kleine porties niet juist. Verder zou het een aanrader zijn als de chef-kok zijn eigen creaties proeft, want de vegetarische stoof (waarvan de beschrijving onlangs geen smaak opleverde) en de borden zijn erg klein. Vorig jaar hebben we gegeten in een twee Michelin-sterrenrestaurant in het VK, waar een 3-gangenmenu 160 euro kostte. Gisteren was ik met drankjes en twee gerechten van bijna niets op de borden (76 euro kwijt)."
