A lot of sadness and a nasty aftertaste following a visit here with a friend. The exact reason is absolutely unclear to us. And it was not communicated beforehand or afterwards. In my view, a gay bar is always a safe place. Unfortunately, not on Pink Wednesday, July 22nd to 23rd. After a beer at the bar, we were roughly thrown out by four security guards. During which my friend sustained a terrible head injury. Fortunately, he was well cared for by the paramedics. Of course, there are always two sides to every story, but in our eyes, we did nothing wrong. We absolutely did not threaten or touch anyone. It is certainly a fun bar to go out to. But be aware of the dangers posed by the security. This place is not a safe haven.

Went to take a look again this Four Days Marches, Succeeded spotting 5 gay/lesbian people. Except for the staff, who would still rather imitate Joost Klein than tap beer. 2 stars for the straights who were having a good time. Is this the image you want to project as a gay bar...? Apparently, it's all about the money. Four Days Marches festivities, naturally there is a different crowd this week after 12:30 (at night). But I really thought it was an LGBTI bar. NOT during the Four Days Marches; we were even more in the minority than any random other bar. So, ZERO, zero, nope policy. It's all about the money. I think 90% of the guests don't even know what the rainbow stands for. Very much NOT thanks. I'm not coming here anymore!

I attended the event during the Nijmeegse Vierdaagse festivities and was there with friends, simply enjoying the atmosphere and celebrating like everyone else. Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by an uncomfortable and unnecessary situation involving my ex-partner. Without any prior incident or provocation, my ex approached the police to suggest that I might be carrying weapons, which was completely untrue and unfounded. I have never harmed or threatened them. Despite this, the situation escalated further when they also involved the venue owner. Security was then brought in, which led to a tense confrontation that almost turned physical between security and one of my friends. This situation felt deeply unfair and distressing. I was there peacefully and had no intention of causing trouble. Being treated as a potential threat without cause — especially given the history of emotional abuse I experienced in that relationship — was extremely upsetting. I believe venues and event staff should ensure that situations are handled based on evidence and behavior in the moment, rather than personal claims without verification. Everyone deserves to feel safe and treated fairly at public events.

I love the vibes here. Everyone is just dancing and having fun. Music is perfect for the vibes. They did pretend to take two of my song requests, I don't get the point of having paper if you're just going to not actually do requests.

We ended up at De Regenboog for the "Haus of Thomtom" event in Nijmegen. The name alone was a success, of course 😉, but the atmosphere was even more impressive. The space is large, so a good number of guests is needed for a cozy atmosphere, which was certainly the case this evening.

Charging your customers €1.50 for the toilet is criminal! For a urinal you can't even flush.

In itself nice vibes but was there yesterday and then I reported to the bartender that a guy was tense about something and was being difficult and that he had to get security, after which nothing happened. (Afterwards that guy had drugged a friend of mine.) But I was approached by two girls if they could match me with a friend of theirs (I felt very flattered as a straight man) so still 3 stars.

Been several times. Unfortunately, little more to do with the origins of the bar. Nowadays more of a youth club. Shame!

This bar is basically a bar thats great, but only if you are straight or gay, white and cis. The owner is not kind. I lived in Nijmegen for a long time and I cannot express just how much it pains me that the inclusive and welcoming space of ThomTom turned into this unsafe place. My heart aches deeply just from thinking about this.

Cozy gay party cafe. Not particularly big but nice for some beers and dancing.

80s-90s looking alternative club with great music!

I went to request a song & they said anything but chappell roan.. Hello ?? You're a gay club,, know your place.. They then proceeded to play the same boring dutch folksongs that haunt the halls of the building. Also there's so much smoke in there its like walking in a cloud of vape. It just sucks because the music in the bar rly makes it a bad experience and its one of the only queer spaces in the city. I don't think i'll be coming back again.

The rainbow is a nice bar. However, there are no checks at the door, so our evening was ruined several times by nasty old men and/or no offense groups of straight foreigners who are clearly not part of the LGBTI group.

Don't go here! This is a club that cares more about making money than ensuring a safe situation. Due to the absence of a door policy, every night there are guaranteed homophobic and women-unfriendly groups of men who enjoy harassing women. When me and my girlfriend were done with this behavior we went home. We were intimidated by one of these groups right in front of the guard. This was my home for 3 years, but I will never come back. The situation has become too unsafe.

crappy door policy really let everyone in, including dirty (and sometimes even homophobic) men who intimidate you and make everyone feel unsafe. I was just kissing my girlfriend when someone said "time out ladies" sorry?? Then he also spoke to us as we walked out the door with "are you leaving?" very strange and nasty. I don't come to a queer space for this. It's a shame that one of the nicest gay places has no regard for the LGBTQ+ community.

Nice place to go out. Nice ambiance. Friendly staff reasonable prices.

Didn't taste the food, but lost some saliva. What good music they play here. To all Eurovision fans come to the rainbow. And kiss a woman.

Discriminatory security. Were refused because of a bottle of coke in hand. It would be wise if they hired another security company.

Cozy atmosphere very nice to go out

We were there on a Saturday evening around 11pm and it was still quite quiet. It was quite busy around 1am. There were more women than men. Most are around 20 years old. It doesn't feel like a gay cafe. The music is really terrible. A video clip simply plays. So you also hear when people are talking in the video clip. Katy Perry that is played 100 times, Eurovision Song Contest songs, very old songs such as the Venga boys, etc. Not really of this time. It would be more fun if more house and dance music was played. I won't be coming back here again.

Regularly a nice atmosphere! unfortunately the music is often hopelessly the same, only aimed at the commercial gay crowd. Would like to hear more Techno/house. many people complain about the music, but unfortunately nothing is done with the feedback.

We had a great evening at kareoke Wednesday last week. With super nice bartenders! Good atmosphere :)

I really thought De Regenboog was one of the nicest places to go out, but recently there was a man behind the bar who was quite moody... he wanted to kick us out because we asked for a K3 number 😂🥲 I understand that it's like 30+ might not be your thing, but just say that you would rather not play that instead of immediately going on the attack. Very unfortunate that it had to happen this way.

One of the best gay bars in the Netherlands!!! Amazing music & super sweet bartenders <3 EDIT: went from 5 stars to 2 stars, after visiting the past weekend with my girlfriend we were physically abused by the bouncer and left outside in the cold with no way to get our jackets which had all of our belongings including our keys from the garderobe. I usually always have a very pleasant experience with the younger middle Eastern bouncer who works there but this time we unfortunately had encountered an older, larger, darker bouncer who acted extremely homophobic towards us. He stood watching us in the woman's bathroom and as soon as we showed any affection towards each other while waiting in line for the bathroom we were grabbed and pushed outside. My girlfriend still has marks all along her arm and shoulder and we have been urged to contact the police or company which hired this security guard. Don't work at a gay bar if you're homophobic, and shame on the regenboog for allowing such a scumbag to work for them!

It's great that you stand up for human rights. But Qatar will not be affected by your action and the victims will not notice anything either. Would it perhaps be an idea to broadcast the matches and transfer part of the profits to the victims?

love my nights out here with my girls and gays! friendly and kind bartenders, superb atmosphere, great music and amazing people. always love looking back to the memories i made here, also one of them best gay bars i’ve been to in the netherlands!

I think it is special that the toilets are checked to ensure that men go to the men's toilet and women go to the women's toilet. The rest of that evening was fun, by the way.

Nice pub and great staff, your standard gay bar sing-a-long music. Very young audience (25-) and if you are used to the Reguliers, this is very soft and cute.

The atmosphere was really "on" but the music was just way too loud. There was no need for it and my ears hurt afterwards.

Awful experience, didn’t even get in as the bouncer with a maroon shirt insisted that we had been drinking in the queue even though we definitely hadn’t. He also let in a couple of girls who were with us but not us which makes no sense as he was accusing us all of drinking? Two of the bouncers then got physical with my friend who was just trying to explain her side of the story and was never physical with them. Made her cry and absolutely abused their authority for no reason as we had done nothing wrong. Won’t be coming back! Absolutely horrible staff!!!
