The drinks are superb. Seems like a performance as well as a bar. I wish we were here long enough to experience more of the revolving menu. Staff is knowledgeable, and hospitible. Will definitely come back if I'm ever back in Amsterdam.

Was a favorite but... In my last visit the staff were not as professional or well dressed as before. The quiet and classy vibe felt lost unfortunately :/ The drinks were amazing as always, but it was 3/4 the same menu as 1 year ago...

I was here for a quick drink with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. I thought I'd just enjoy a cocktail and catch up. Lovely vibe. Bartenders paying attention to you and the drinks they are making. The flavors were exceptional and unlike anything I had ever tasted. I will definitely come back sometime.

Great find in Amsterdam. Nice atmosphere and tasty cocktails. The bartender Juipe (I am sure I spelled that wrong) was so friendly and welcoming. While the bar has an old time feel (reminiscent of a speak easy) it is not pretentious at all and has a local hang out vibe.

“Best first stop in Amsterdam. Full stop.” My wife and I walked into Bar Oldenhof on our first evening in Amsterdam; early enough that we practically had the bar to ourselves. We met the owner and one of the bartenders, and what followed was one of those rare travel moments you don’t plan for. Leading up to our trip to Amsterdam, we had a full set of restaurant reservations confirmed. Terrence, with complete candor and no agenda, told us we could do better — that several of our picks were tourist traps and mediocre at best. He suggested Duchess, Bistro Neuf, Ela, and Sea Palace instead. We went to three of the four and all were extraordinary! Some of the best meals we had anywhere in Europe. The drinks at Oldenhof were equally remarkable. I had their version of the espresso martini (flawless) and a Black Manhattan (exceptional). My wife had the Pornstar Martini, served with a small piece of cake — she is still talking about it. But what stays with me most is the bar itself. Oldenhof leans into its character completely — dark wood, velvet, jazz, a sense that this place has been exactly this way for a very long time. It doesn’t try to be anything other than what it is. In a city full of bars performing “atmosphere,” this one actually has it. Go early. Sit at the bar.

We LOVED this bar. So welcoming, friendly and delicious drinks. I had the server surprise me with something from the ‘western’ menu, which is more alcohol forward drinks and she didn’t hesitate. She walked away and said , ‘I got it’. I appreciate that kind of demeanor. She knew what was good and I was gonna get it. She was right. There’s a banana bread cocktail called ‘The man with no name’ that was insane. Actually served with a small chunk of banana bread. Then the bartender suggested the Vieux Carre. We both got one and liked it more than The man with no name, which I didn’t know was possible. Really loved it here and would go out of my way to come back!

Great cocktails, great staff, cool interior. The cocktails are very expensive, but if you go in happy to pay 20 euros for a great cocktail and funky establishment, you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely wonderful! We read about this spot on a few sites and had to check it out while we were in town. We love a great cozy craft cocktail bar and this was just perfect. The vibes were so gorgeous, welcoming, and warm. We had a few drinks which were fabulous. Well made, and the bartenders listened to our likes and even made some custom stuff with local ingredients. It definitely felt like a great neighborhood spot and they took great care of everyone - tourists and locals promptly and warmly. This was one of our best nights out, wish we would’ve gone earlier! David and Joen were just wonderful local guys and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

I am really fussy about a martini. I see it as the measure of a really competent mixologist. The one I had was absolutely on the nail. Definitely the best I have had in the Netherlands (I live here). Try for yourself.

My favorite bar in Amsterdam. Every cocktail is perfect- they have a super creative menu with drinks that are so delicious. They also nail the classics. The vibe inside is warm but also so fun. The entire bar team has great personalities and ensure you have a wonderful night. Bonus that they are all cute too. Highly recommend for a fun night out.

Very cozy place, perfect for a great drink and conversation. We had the chance to enjoy their movie-inspired cocktail offering. Interesting twist and wonderfully executed cocktails. Would definitely recommend if you are a fan of cocktails, or you are looking for a place to have a nice hang out.

Super chill and cosy bar with amazing staff with quite good understanding of what they are serving. They have good selection of cocktails and speakeasy style ambiance inside. A nice place to meet with a group of friends or a date. Even sitting at the bar is good since you can chat with the staff.

What a fantastic find! This is a very classy cocktail bar, which has a similar feel to Milk and Honey which used to be in soho london. Very dark decor, quiet background music and selective lighting, to create the look and feel of a speakeasy. The cocktails are fantastic, as is the service, so much so, we visited the place every night of our stay and loved it each time. Highly recommend this for small groups of four friends, or couples. Be prepared to sit outside though until a table becomes available because its always busy Thats the sign of a quality venue and this is exactly that. Very classy and very much worth a visit.

Stopped in because we thought it looked cool from the street. Amazing decision! The bartenders really know their stuff about not just the drinks on the menu, but also some of the more unique alcohols they have. Wish there was a place like this near my house!

Bar Oldenhof is one of the best hidden gems in Amsterdam for cocktails. The drinks are crafted with precision and creativity—easily some of the best cocktails I’ve had in the city. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and make the whole experience feel special. A perfect spot for a classy, intimate night out.

Kindly disregard any previous unfavourable reviews made by those perhaps less acquainted with the art of fine drinking — it is in your own best interest to do so. On a late Sunday afternoon, my friends and I found ourselves at Bar Oldenhof. Some were initially hesitant, swayed by online commentary, yet I persuaded them to trust the experience — and rightly so. We were warmly welcomed and promptly seated at a table well-suited to our group. Service began with water and a courteous overview of the menu, followed by bespoke cocktail recommendations thoughtfully tailored to each of us. What was meant to be a casual round turned into a delightful series of impeccably crafted drinks. The cocktails were balanced, elegant, and executed with finesse — far too enjoyable to resist. We left thoroughly pleased, appetite whetted, and with an excellent dinner recommendation to round off the evening. Many thanks to the Oldenhof team for a truly distinguished experience.

An nice bar to stop off for one or two drinks before moving on. I loved the cocktails I ordered, but it is hit and miss. Some of my friends ordered basic cocktails such as a margarita, and honestly it tasted dreadful. The fancy and unusual cocktails they make frequently seem great, but avoid standard items not listed on the menu. Other than this, the atmosphere sophisticated and comfortable. It's quite a mixed crowd inside, so it's interesting to visit and see who you may cross paths with. I recommend a good Ole porn star martini if you visit 🍸

We did a whiskey tasting, which was awesome. The owner talked us through the beautiful history of whiskey with some great whiskeys. What do want more?! But the real speciality are the cocktails, when around try the ‘you should not pass’. Had a great night.

I rolled into Bar Oldenhof with my crew, ordered some cocktails, and then the owner struts over, telling me to ditch my Adidas jersey (because of the stripes, seriously?). It was freaking cold in there, and we’d just dropped cash on 5 drinks! What a stuck-up jerk. I’m NEVER stepping foot in that dump again.
