The (round) tables are very small and the food portions small, but nice :-) Atmospheric decor, but if there is a large group in the front section, it is very noisy (probably everywhere, but certainly there, due to the small, crowded space).

seabass and chips... don't miss it! we arrived 20 minutes before kitchen closes. still the team take our order and we had one of the best seabass on grill. even the price was higher we fully recommend. on our list of " we will return"

I found this restaurant via an app that counts calories based on a photo. The squid with peppers had enough protein and fit perfectly into my day. The service was friendly and the place is neat.

Risotto and mussels are highly recommended.

I am curious where all the 5-star reviews for this place come from, because that is not how we experienced Bar Pulpo. We went here for dinner on a Wednesday evening because we had something to celebrate. Unfortunately, we paid €136, the food wasn't very tasty, and we went home hungry. The interior looks nice and the wines are good. The service was friendly, but slow and very inexperienced. The two ladies could give little specific advice about the dishes and took a long time handing over the menu and taking orders. The food was very pricey for the quality. It just wasn't special and the portions were small. The grilled ribeye was the biggest disappointment. For €19.50, you got 4 pieces of meat on one 8cm brioche bun. Afterwards, we went somewhere else for dessert, because we had seen enough of this place. I would absolutely not recommend this place.

It is relatively good food cocktails, very good service, but the price is VERY high for the quantity you get.

This is simply a truly fantastic place. We really enjoyed it again! They have an amazing menu where you truly can't go wrong; everything is equally delicious. The oysters are absolutely delectable and the wine list is really good too. Add to that the nice location, the cozy interior, and the lovely terrace, and you have a top-notch evening. 100% recommended!

Wow, we definitely want to come back to Rotterdam for this delicious food. This afternoon, on the cozy terrace with lots of plants and flowers, we shared 5 dishes between the two of us, and that was more than enough. My favorite was the sea bass fillet. Inside, it looked very cozy too. Bar Pulpo is highly recommended!

We had a lovely meal here with the four of us for my father's 64th birthday. Even my father thought it was great, and he doesn't say that easily ;). The dishes were delicious and the two waitresses were very friendly and knowledgeable. The first round of food just took a little while to arrive. The atmosphere is very good, but there was a fan positioned a little behind our table that made some noise. Not very disruptive, but perhaps a quieter model would be a better option.

the food is tasteless. The dishes and ingredients have too much potential to explore. Service was kind and attentive. If it is warm outside, better eat at the bar for refreshment.

We got there around 8pm, I asked the girl at the counter if I could see the menu... and she told me that I could see the menu, but they weren't accepting customers anymore... at which point I looked at the room and, seeing it half empty, I asked: but do you have too much work, because it doesn't seem like it to me... and she replied: Chef's orders... what can I say, I'll never set foot in there again!

We were here for my birthday dinner.. the food was so good. Octopus was cooked to perfection, the oysters were amazing.. the drinks slapped.. The staff are incredibly sweet.. I’m a coastal girlie and grew up with seafood.. this place has the best seafood! If you’re around you should totally visit. The artworks around are also so fun!

Everything is overcooked. There’s no actual crab in the crab—it turned into minced meat stuck to the inside of the shell. The shrimp are rubbery because they’re overcooked too. Only the mussels and artichokes were edible. Such a shame to have spent money at your establishment.

This restaurant feels like coming home to a warm bath. The food is consistently delicious and consistently top-notch – the kind of place you'll happily return to again and again. The staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the fact that you see the same faces over and over again speaks volumes: this is where it's at. We made a group reservation here, so they offered a group menu with many different bites to share. They also accepted our request to make an exception for one person to order from the regular menu, which we really appreciated. As a picky eater, I genuinely enjoyed my seabass with baby spinach, and the rest of the group was also happy with their meals. It was quite hot inside though—I was sweating the entire night. The service was very kind, and the interior has a nice atmosphere. Overall, it is a pleasant place to spend an evening out.

We entered a packed, small, and noisy restaurant with terrible acoustics. It started poorly, but it got worse. The food was very mediocre. Ordinary (dry pieces of flatbread with a tomato and anchovy concoction) as a starter, followed by various dishes. A plate of mussels that tasted fine, green asparagus chopped, a kind of very finely chopped fries, squid prepared in two ways, and a sea bass fried on the skin. It was okay but nothing special. The same went for the bottle of wine: ordinary, but still €36. We spent €180 for a pub meal in a very noisy restaurant where most people come for the cocktails. The staff is extremely friendly. That's a good thing.

Rotterdam has many cozy corners and delicious, unique restaurants. This is one of them. After a cool bar where you can pre-drink, you can dine upstairs. There, you'll find a special decor and a Dutch flair for "hygge." The beer comes in pleasantly cold glasses and is quickly consumed. We started with flatbread eggplant, flatbread tomato, tuna crackers, and octopus. We've tried them everywhere and they were really good. For the main course, sardines with delicious garlic, fries with little crispy "sprats" and truffle mayonnaise, and the green salad, something I've never had before. Very exotic and delicious. One more special treat for refills: the sorbet with tequila was the crowning glory. The wine selection also went well with the meal; the Chardonnay went well with the seafood. Overall, a very successful evening with very good and friendly service. Keep it up! If we're back in Rotterdam, we'll definitely try octopus again.

We sat outside on the terrace, so we didn't see much of the interior. The staff was super friendly and professional. The problem was the food... poorly prepared and without any soul. The ultra-thin fries were served with mayonnaise from a jar (not the promised roasted garlic mayo), and the eel risotto was a soggy blob without even a faint eel smell. The family bucket was dripping with butter, and there were no herbs or seaweed. The contents contained some overcooked crab claws and langoustines (used for the soup?), tasteless prawns, and only mussels as shells. We had been very excited based on older reviews, but went home disillusioned.

We thoroughly enjoyed the three-course meal and found it truly delicious. We especially enjoyed the mackerel and the octopus skewers.

We had a very pleasant evening here at bar pulpo. The place is tiny but full of colors and lively. The guys at the service are very nice, the menu is small but super interesting and food tastes amazing! The concept is that you share your dishes with the rest of the table, something that I noticed Dutch people really love, I'm usually not a big fun but here at bar Pulpo I really enjoyed as the portions are big enough to be shared and enjoyed and the dishes are rich and tasteful. Also price is not too bad.

A friend and I had the 5-course surprise menu. It was delicious and definitely worth repeating. The cocktail we had, of which we ended up having three, could have used a bit more prosecco. I don't remember what it's called. Something like a pink cocktail or something. Normally, I can't manage three cocktails in a row because I'm drunk after two, but this went down like lemonade.

Came here on a whim after a racist encounter at another restaurant. I am so, so, so pleased that I tried Bar Pulpo out. The staff and the food were excellent, and transformed what could have been a bad evening into a lovely one. I highly recommend their eels on toast and scallops. Definitely the highlight of the evening. We had their aubergine and anchovies flatbread - both really good. The anchovies were abundant and placed on a bed of tomato salsa - honestly, the salsa was really excellent. Their grilled octopus skewer was tasty, even though the portion was rather small. We also had the eel risotto. It was tasty but for my Italian husband, it was a bit overcooked (I thought it was fine, but I’m less qualified to judge risotto). The espressos come with a nice, warm chocolate chip cookie with sea salt (🫶) and the mango crème brûlée was great and not too sweet (the ultimate compliment to any dessert). Very nice establishment - would definitely recommend and come again!

I had quite high expectations of this restaurant, I often go to the neighbours namely la pizza. We are real fish and shellfish lovers but we found the sea bass bland and overpriced. The rest was fine but not to lick your fingers, too bad! And also quite expensive..

We paid 24 Euros for three glasses of white wine that were not worth the price.

Nice restaurant and the terrace is nice. Service is very friendly. The food is just a bit disappointing. Many of the same flavors that are quite flat. Price/quality is very out of proportion. Especially when I look at the ingredients that are used. The drinks were good, but €15.50 for a non-alcoholic cocktail is out of proportion.

Absolute highlight of my trip to Rotterdam, me and my friends all got the chef's lunch with the prosecco pairing. The waitress that served us was very helpful and knew the menu very well and could answer any question we have. The attention to detail in every aspect of the restaurant from the decor, tableware glassware, even the bathroom was impeccable. The food was fresh and every single bite was a delight. When we ordered the chef's special menu, we mentioned that one of my friends specifically loved octopus, the chef made him a special starter including octopus. I would whole heartedly recommend going to this place if you enjoy seafood and are in Rotterdam.

We had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was amazing (we tried 7 dishes in total and all were brilliant). The place has customized decoration and the staff was very charming and efficient. I was staying in Amsterdam and I went to Rotterdam strictly to try this place (my train got delayed by 1 hour and they managed to keep my reservation 🙏💎).

Today we participated in the cherish your oyster tour. These oysters were by far the tastiest. Since we are on a day out, I thought I would also order some food, we were in a great spot there. Shouldn't. I thought this was a really strange sensation. I say if I leave now and sit down again as a guest, that's okay. No answer was given. Missed opportunity. Really a shame.

Very successful! Yesterday 2nd time and 1st visit a few weeks ago, it was confirmed: simply delicious, nice and fresh, divine oysters (Oesterij Special and Irish Mor), nice piece of fish, cocktails to kill for and what made it all a nice experience, friendly and cheerful staff, had another wonderful evening, delicious food and they will see us again! Just do it once, you will return, just like us!
