Super fun concept. Everything is fresh and delicious.

Friendly staff, great food, only missing the "rince doigts" that come with prawns and lobster! Their wine list wasn't great either, unfortunately!

Even though the restaurant was about to close due to the snowy weather, they still warmly welcomed my fiancé and me and gave us the full experience. Everything was perfectly explained, and we were even offered a wine tasting to pair with our dishes. The food was absolutely amazing, and each dish was presented and explained in detail. Our server was outstanding, truly made the evening special. We will definitely be coming back with friends!

The flavors were all very similar and unchanging; every dish had a soy sauce taste. The grilled fish was very good, but the shrimp varied in quality. The wine selection could be expanded.

Restaurant was not that busy and still had to wait 3 hours for all the food to be served. Next to that a different table also got our ordered food.

The side dish arrived cold, and we had to wait a full three hours for the main course. One of the main courses was even delivered to the wrong table. We asked the server several times when the food would arrive, and other guests had finished their meals earlier. And all this on a Monday evening. Truly scandalous, especially considering the price.

Such great foods and nice concept!

We had dinner in 4. While I can appreciate the concept, I didn’t like waiting to order and not being able to see a menu. The food was fresh and we appreciated the oysters. The service from the table staff was sparse (if you could find anyone to call) and we had to ask for cutlery as there were not enough forks and knives on the table. However, I would like to say that the lady at the desk and the lady serving the wine were very courteous, helpful and hardworking. In my opinion it’s a restaurant that is too large with too little staff. A more intimate space would be better and more experienced staff. A little overpriced too.

Pesca is an absolute asset to Rotterdam and a must-visit for anyone who loves high-quality food. It's a spacious restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere where the passion for fish is immediately apparent. ​The food and the experience The concept is fantastic: you choose your own fresh fish from the daily market. The selection is enormous, from various types of flatfish and scallops to giant shrimp and lobster. Everything is fresh daily, and you can taste that in every dish. ​Wine list This is also the perfect place for wine lovers. They have a selection of top-notch wines available by the glass or bottle. The more exclusive wines are only available by the bottle, which is completely understandable given the quality and the segment. ​Service and atmosphere I give the food, the service, and the atmosphere 5 stars. The staff is knowledgeable, and the ambiance is great. A very nice touch is that after paying, you get a scoop of lemon ice cream to take with you; a refreshing and thoughtful way to end the evening. Conclusion It's a pricey restaurant, but the price-quality ratio is perfectly balanced. You really get your money's worth here. I hope they maintain this high level and quality, because this is exactly what food lovers are looking for.

Chose here to celebrate new year's eve but no much available tables or high chairs for evrybody..almost 4hrs standing..not worth the price..food was okay👍

I went here for my birthday and was genuinely excited about the concept: no menu, choosing a fish, getting guided through the experience. On paper, it sounds great. In reality, the execution was very poor. The start was promising, we were welcomed warmly and offered champagne, which immediately set a nice tone. Unfortunately, things went downhill as soon as we had to select the fish and dishes. The staff member assigned to explain the concept and advise us clearly did not know what she was doing. My sister has specific allergies, which we clearly communicated. Despite this, she recommended dishes that later turned out to contain exactly the ingredients my sister is allergic to. That’s not a small mistake - it shows a serious lack of training and awareness. She also couldn’t explain portion sizes at all, which led us to order far too much food. We ended up paying significantly more than expected, only to realize later that we could have ordered much less. On top of that, she seemed disengaged and unsure, casually backtracking on her own suggestions (“oh, actually forget the eggplant”), which did not inspire confidence in a restaurant built entirely around guidance rather than a menu. Once we were seated, someone else, possibly a manager, came over and informed us that the dishes we’d ordered all contained allergens and suggested alternatives or modifications. This intervention was appreciated, but by then the damage was done. The dishes were altered to remove several key ingredients, which resulted in food that tasted bland and incomplete. One of the most expensive fish options was served simply baked with a sauce on the side, clearly not how the dish was intended to be eaten. It was a huge disappointment, especially given the price. By the end, we were essentially forcing ourselves to finish plain fish just to feel like we got some value for the money spent. To be fair, the atmosphere is lovely, the drinks selection was enjoyable, the dessert was nice, and the rest of the staff were friendly and professional. The concept itself has real potential. But if you remove the menu, your staff must be exceptionally well-trained, engaged, and confident. In our case, that simply wasn’t true. Given the confusion, the cost, and the overall letdown, especially for a birthday. I’m giving this place two stars.

Service was very slow even though it wasn't busy. The food was okay, but I thought €580 for 4 adults and 2 children was a bit steep.

Definitely not worth the hype. Service is all over the place. First oysters were put on the table 10 min later the drinks?????? Oyster wiped out where is our starters? Not yet dear wait for another 20 minutes. I ended up asking the waiter to send everything so we had to have entrees and mains all together. Staff is not knowledgeable about the menu. I chose proteins blindly not knowing what they come with. I don’t mind the concept but clearly it is not executed well.. seeing viciously shucked oysters breaks my heart. Not everybody pays attention to little details like this. I do, so should good chefs… ponzu oysters were delicious however 2 oysters served in the same plate one has almost no sauce the other one is floating in the sauce. I mean this is not a pub meal you wouldn’t care about any of this. and it’s highly overpriced for the service and the flavors. 4 of us no wine €300 and we left the restaurant hungry.. I mean it’s super annoying… finally there is no soap in toilets. Imagine you have to go back home to be able to clean your fishy hands. I am hungry my hands are dirty and I paid €300.. you wouldn’t appreciate it if this happened to you would you? I hope you guys understand where I come from. There is no ethics no honesty and care in this business but it still cost you fortune…

A new concept for us: you choose your own food at the Vismarkt (appetizer, side dish, and main course). Afterward, you'll receive wine recommendations and sit down to watch the fresh fish being prepared. It was a delicious meal.

Very unique place. There is no menu but you go to the pretend fish market where you select the dishes. Waiter is super helpful and explains well what everything is and what is the best pair. You do the same with wine and then you are seated. Quality of the fish is amazing, prepared well, fresh, unique. Overall very good. Deserts are also very nice. Best place I have eaten in Netherlands, and would definitely recommend.

Disappointingly executed concept Pesca seduces with its opening... Our Theatre of Fish invites you to participate in our shared dining experience and enjoy the diverse offerings from our seas. Don't expect a traditional restaurant when you open the doors at Pesca. We've thrown all the old rules out the window: no menus or white linens. It's all about the experience on stage at the fish market; as a guest, you are part of our concept and you choose your own fish and side dishes! With that in mind, we walked in. The reality was quite different. We started with a rather long wait at the counter. There, we were asked if anyone was interested in a glass of bubbly (with popcorn). You were given a tin of sardines with a number on it; your orders were recorded on that number. (With the message that if you open the tin, it will appear on your bill. (Seriously!)) Then we were dropped off at an unmanned/manned fish market, which was half full. The filled half was exceptionally meager (understandable from a sustainability perspective), but also very limited in the fish market, especially considering the time of year (you'd expect scallops, plaice, sole, etc.). We were helped by a pleasant, quick woman who, after making our selection (6 oysters, 4 langoustines, 1 whitefish hamachi, 1 tuna aguachile, 1 pulpo, 1 carabineros, 1 turbot, 1 cod), asked us to go to the drinks market. Here, we found ourselves once again (and still with a glass of bubbly in our hands) in an unmanned market. This took so long that the woman from the fish market intervened and helped us. And we had a bottle of Auxerrois from Schouwen-Duivenland. After that, we could (finally... we've been inside for 20 minutes now) go to our table. What follows is a kind of Theater of Laughter. Although it wasn't busy (I estimate the restaurant was only 25% occupied...on a Sunday afternoon, I expected something different), things got out of hand on several fronts. This was mainly due to a shortage of staff and incompetence and/or disinterest. It took forever, you had to open the bottle of wine and water you ordered yourself, and the dishes/courses were all mixed up (we had three courses: appetizer, intermediate, and main course). Dishes arrived before the table had been cleared, making contacting the staff during the meal a real challenge. The dishes themselves were well-prepared, but never surprising or exciting. The turbot was served in a pan that had really seen better days (the non-stick coating was already partially worn off), and the sauce on several dishes was beurre blanc. We opted to have dessert elsewhere. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but when the bill arrives for over €300... well... I recommend the owners take a trip to The Fishmarket at the InterContinental hotel in Abu Dhabi. They've mastered this concept down to the last detail.

After waiting for several minutes, I had to approach the staff myself. But after that, everything went smoothly. The concept is quite nice, but it was a bit awkward because we were still lugging coats around. Anyway, the fish and other dishes are excellent, and the wine selection is good. The service was friendly and attentive. The high table isn't my favorite; it's too small for the dishes and the huge cutlery tray. But honestly, all the dishes were absolutely delicious! Very well seasoned, and there was plenty of everything. Perhaps worth a second visit.

We had a wonderful meal, choosing the fish we wanted from a refrigerated display case, how we'd like it prepared, and what we'd like to accompany it. Then we chose our wine from a charming little "wine cellar." We received excellent advice and lovely wines. A truly fantastic experience.

The best dish was the softshell crab, mussels were tasty but sauce could be better, gambas were avarage. Service was very polite but a bit slow. "Optional" charge for foundation feels a bit forced.

The atmosphere is nice. You enter the restaurant which the interior is nice and then will be taken to the area like market to pick the ingredients what you want to eat. Everything was fresh and cooked nicely. Just a bit pricey so if yoy order a lot, you end up with a big bill. A place to go for a special occasion I guess.

We had a fantastic evening last Friday. We were welcomed with a glass of bubbly, then headed to the fish market to choose from a variety of fish, shellfish, and/or crustaceans. The selection is vast, but with the helpful advice, you'll have a wonderful dinner. Afterward, we headed to the wine bar for a wine pairing. We sat at the table with the bottle in the cooler, and then the dishes were served more or less one after the other. The fish was delicious, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Highly recommended for a culinary experience. It was our first time, but definitely not our last. We'll be back soon. Robin & Nanda.

What a great place! First pick your fish of choice at the "Fish Market" and then your accompanying whine or drinks at the Whine Bar. And then... just enjoy. Great food, great ambience and a great night!

Most overpriced and overrated place ever. Reservations don't matter. You just join the long queue as they're not capable of creating an efficient seating procedure. Staff should just be replaced by robots, as they're useless and tell you nothing about the preparation methods. Then at the end they add something to your bill which you have to ask them to take off instead of asking it beforehand. What a scam.

It's better to make a reservation to guarantee a place. The food is delicious, fresh, and the selection of drinks and spirits is also excellent. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is chic. However, when you get to the restroom, it feels like you're in a different place because everything is red, even redder than a brothel would be. That's a night and day difference compared to how chic the restaurant looks. I would definitely recommend updating the restrooms for a better look.

Very good food! The fish was super fresh and well made, we enjoyed everything we ordered. The atmosphere was also really nice and intimate. However, the service does not live up to the quality of the food. The waiters were friendly but forgot multiple time to bring us the drinks we had ordered or a new plate, so we had to remind them. Also, despite not being super full, the service was overall quite slow. Long story short: considering the money spent, very worth it for the food but the quality of the service is falling behind.

The food was great and the attention was excellent. Also big thanks to Maddalena, the organizer because she helped us to have everything ready for a group of 36 people. They even modified the menu for some people on the spot. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Absolute perfection. A paradise for fish lovers, I'm not one, but the extra class is undeniable.

The food here was quite mediocre. The service was also absolutely subpar. We had to wait a very long time for our order. We weren't even asked if we wanted anything else to drink, and when we pointed out to the staff that a puddle of water was forming under the table next to us due to a leaking wine cooler, nothing was done about it. The shellfish, unlike the scallops and tuna, were very tasty, but unfortunately, the staff couldn't tell me what kind of shell they were (other than 'clamps'). The concept feels a bit like a way to create a smokescreen around the price of the food, and I didn't think the high price was worth it.

Last week, I was in Rotterdam for a few days with friends, and someone recommended Pesca. I'm not usually a huge fish fan, but he sounded so enthusiastic that I was intrigued. And it turned out to be a good idea: our experience at Pesca was fantastic! The dishes were delicious, incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and perfectly balanced. The service was the icing on the cake: enthusiastic, friendly, and with great recommendations and explanations for each dish. We left feeling more than satisfied. A real recommendation for anyone visiting Rotterdam. I can't wait for my next visit!

Great restaurant! I knew the concept from Amsterdam, and I love going there too! I've been to Rotterdam recently and loved it, the same great experience with the fish and wine market. Spacious and beautiful restaurant where we had a wonderful table! We started with a glass of bubbly, and the service was welcoming and friendly!

Well worth a visit. Great concept and amazing food!

We had hoped for a more elegant experience. A refundable deposit is necessary for a reservation. It's on the ground floor of a Hilton. Once seeted the tables are plain, silverware,and paper napkins are in a box. One is taken to an ice table and chooses whatever seafood you want prepared. Fishes are simply grilled. Prices are listed by 100gms. An electric board lists sides which you can add. They tell you the cost of what you ordered but not a bread charge , which is added. Water wasn't offered but available. The restaurant makes its own,( not Evian or Perrier) and this too is charged. When finally paying at the entry area, you are told no tip is included, uncommon for Europe. I felt that the food was tasty but not special. 2 people -one small grilled Dorade, 3 sides, 2 glasses of wine = $115. Choosing our food before it was cooked was interesting. Overall we did not feel it was worth it.

Having visited the Amsterdam restaurant, we decided to try the one in Rotterdam a few years later. The Amsterdam one is better as it is a bit more cosy and service is quicker. While everyone was very kind in the Rotterdam joint, our orders came quite late as the place is huge and there are a lot of tables to serve. It was still a very nice treat with lovely food, so definitely worth the experience.

The food was good. It was really as at market, sadly there was no octopus when we visited. The service was a little bit slow, not very alert (we were one the first and only table during the lunch shift), but was friendly. We enjoyed our time here in general. This experience is recommended.

My sister wanted to go here for her birthday. I would never go there myself. I don't have much faith in these kinds of big establishments anyway. My fears were confirmed. I got sick the next morning, the staff was disinterested, and I paid 10 euros for a small piece of eggplant, which was also made without any love or flavor. I also paid 10 euros for a small bowl of salad (just lettuce), and 6 euros for a tiny bun of bread with herb butter that had water floating on it. The entire bill was far too high for the "quality" they provided. The fish didn't look great either; it had watery eyes and was slimy. The place also smelled faintly of old fish upon entering. I haven't eaten at such a bad restaurant in a long time.

The clams were spot on—super tasty broth with fresh herbs and a little kick of spice that just hit the spot. Those oysters? So fresh and gorgeous on the plate. The grilled prawns were juicy and full of flavor, especially with that zesty sauce—couldn’t get enough! And the sashimi? Melted in my mouth like a dream. Plus, their seafood display was impressive, showing off some top-notch stuff. Defo a must-visit for anyone who loves seafood—food was amazing, and the vibe was spot on!

Nice atmosphere, but I thought it was a bit overpriced. Six scallops cost €40 and arrived cold, which was a shame. The explanation of the preparation process was also disappointing, resulting in a sauce we didn't like. The rest was good.

Great concept and variety. Recommend oyster and aubergine, skip fish&chips(tasty but large salty portion). We had an unfortunate wait in between dishes. The cod was a bit dry, but would certainly come again.

That was truly an experience. If you are a seafood lover, this place is a must-try. Even for me — someone who usually only eats larger fish — it was quite good. The whole concept offers not just food, but a real dining experience. The service was excellent: very friendly, detailed in their explanations, and welcoming with champagne at the entrance while we waited for our order. First, they guide you through the fish market and then the wine market, giving you plenty of options to choose from. We ordered salmon as a starter, gambas as a warm appetizer, turbot (with sauce on the side, as requested), and pesto pasta. My husband’s favorite was the salmon; the gambas were less impressive, and the turbot was interesting to try for the first time but overall just okay. I do wish I had been warned about the coriander in the pesto pasta, since it’s not for everyone. The bread was served warm and tasty, but I wasn’t expecting an extra charge for it given the already high prices. They also add a €1 fee to support a sustainable sea life foundation (which you can ask to remove, though that would mean printing another bill — ironically less sustainable). I appreciated that they give you an estimated price at the fish market when you choose your order, so the final bill doesn’t come as a surprise. Prices are on the higher side, so for me this is more of an “occasional place,” but worth the money for the experience. Overall, it was a very enjoyable night out.

Ok-tier fish restaurant. You can choose your fish in a fake fish Market. Everything was ok, took a little bit of time to get served. A but noisy but a very good experience overall. We paid 120€ for 2 ppl.

Pesca in Rotterdam is a rather original fish concept. They have fresh fish displayed in a unique way, but the prices are on the high side and the service is mediocre. They don't have pulpo, and the flavor could be better. Catch and Zeezout are better. Still, it's worth a visit.

Another delicious meal here! A great concept: first, a drink at the bar, then choosing a menu and getting an explanation of all the fish, followed by recommendations in the wine lounge/bar, and finally, being led to your table. The food was delicious, with the Asian-style vongole, scallops, and softshell crab as standouts. Afterward, I enjoyed a delicious mackerel and sea bass. Great concept. Being welcomed at the bar, having a glass of bubbles at the bar, soaking up the bustling atmosphere, while you wait your turn to go to the fish market (where you select your fish an thereby your menu) and then the wine market (where excellent pairings are made with the courses and menu you just selected). And then the actual party is just getting started. When seated you get paired with your waitress of the day, and what luck we had being served by Charlotte!!! Attentive, though busy, taking her time at our side to cater for any need we might have (amongst others, to slow down) and helpfull in possibly improving on our pairings or preparations selected (loved the Asian mussels she advised over the ‘regular’ we earlier selected). Treat yourself (and your better half or splash out with friends) to a night out and book a table at this Theatre of (fish) food!!
