A truly wonderful experience with this restaurant!! Delicious food at great prices. The hostess deserves a special compliment for the atmosphere and friendly atmosphere. We came from Belgium and stayed at the nearby holiday park, and we're sure we'll be back :)

A disclaimer upfront: the staff is friendly and really goes the extra mile. Our experience at the restaurant is absolutely beyond reproach. This is a restaurant that advertises itself as an "authentic barbecue experience." In practice, that translates to tables containing barbecues lit with chemicals. You can taste it. The meat on them probably comes from a cold storage unit at a budget supermarket. The beer was dead upon arrival. We were with a group of seven diners, at least three of whom experienced serious stomach problems that evening and/or the next morning. Furthermore, everyone unanimously agreed that this was by far one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. The dessert consisted of some sort of pre-made mousse or Sunday ice cream that could have been kept in a gas station refrigerator. The price is ridiculously high. You could buy three days' worth of groceries for less. Why people are writing rave reviews about this place is beyond us.

Delicious food, something for everyone. Nice people.

I'm giving these two stars for the unfriendly reception by a lady. We all had the feeling she didn't want us in the restaurant. It was completely empty, and apparently everything was reserved. After about three hours, we drove past, and it was just as empty. That's not nice and unfriendly towards a family with two small children.

We ordered and picked up food. The food was delicious, and the price/quality and quantity were good. The restaurant looks cozy inside. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We might have to eat there sometime.

Surprising restaurant, BBQ on real charcoal

Today was our first time here. I think we were the first guests to arrive that day. We were welcomed very nicely. Friendly lady guided us to the place. She took my wife's hearing aid into account! This alone is a reason for a positive review. We will definitely come here again! The meat was fine, nothing to complain about for an all you can eat bbq restaurant. The soups and the ice cream afterwards were also very good.

Lovely bbq'ing with friends. Outside, the weather was great. Staff is very nice, participates nicely, absolutely great. Meat, salads are very tasty and well seasoned. We will definitely come back.

Good meat, nice service and a nice environment

We had a delicious meal at Harry BBQ and Carla. What lovely people! We loved the cheese sausage and the entourage. The atmosphere was super fun and the evening ended with dancing with our one-night friends. Well worth the drive from Amsterdam! We'll be back soon.

This barbecue restaurant surprised us very positively. The meat and fish in particular were of good quality and nicely marinated. The concept of having your own BBQ on the table is also very nice. There is still room for improvement in the decoration of the restaurant, especially the inside

Very friendly and involved reception. My boyfriend and I were alone with 1 other couple. That certainly did not make the atmosphere any less good or cozy - contrary to other (negative) reviews. And despite the fact that it was very quiet in terms of the number of guests (normally they are not open around this period, if I understood correctly from our hostess, so perhaps that was why it was quieter), there was more than enough choice/variety in particular the meat is present. There were also various sauces and side dishes available, as well as three types of soup and delicious bread from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Baked especially for this restaurant, so unfortunately not available elsewhere (we would have liked to have it at home :)). The meat was particularly tasty in terms of marinades (possibly some salt for this or that one, but that is of course really a matter of taste: I like it). These were also beautiful, thick, tender pieces of meat. The steak, for example, was remarkably fantastic. Wonderfully tender, beautiful thick pieces, which they cut themselves. The spareribs fell off the bone deliciously without being too greasy (just tender meat). The chicken pieces (offered in various marinades and cutting methods) were also nice and tender and of good size (and for a change I didn't encounter any muscles, etc. - great). For all other meat options: also really good and tender. The pork skewer, for example, was also delicious. We definitely recommend it! The desserts are quite "simple", but that is not meant in a negative or annoying way. It's just really fine and delicious as a ending (otherwise you should go to a star restaurant or fine dining...). We also like the location: on/in the forest area. Fortunately, we live quite close by and are looking forward to our next visit. We will definitely come back and wish the owner(s) a great 2025.

Had a delicious meal here last night December 13! Meat looked nice and lots of choice, desserts were also very tasty, especially the homemade chocolate mousse. Very nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. We will definitely come back again!

We have been coming to this restaurant for 5 years. At least once every year and it is noticeable that the atmosphere becomes less and less. We were the only table this evening, which didn't make the atmosphere pleasant. The meat was tasty, but discolored on all sides and I had the feeling that it had been there for a while. The question also occurred to me: what do you do with the meat that remains? Throwing it away is a shame, but I can't even think about coming across the same thing tomorrow. After a bit of encouragement, the waiter came more into his role and regularly came by to ask if everything was to your liking. This was great. The desserts were still the same after all the years (2 types of Sundea ice creams), which I think is a shame. There were also 2 homemade desserts, of which the chocolate dessert looked very much like custard and the other dessert seemed to have been thrown in from afar. A dollop of yogurt on a few crumbs. The staff is friendly.

We had a delicious meal and the staff was super nice. Meat was nicely seasoned and the salads, especially the tuna and egg salad, were delicious!

After a round ridge, we stopped at BBQ restaurant De Heuvelrug in Leersum. The four of us enjoyed lunch and delicious cool drinks on the beautiful terrace. Will definitely come back soon for the AYCE BBQ dinner.

We had an appointment with my brother-in-law in Amerongen in the evening. We thought we would make it a nice afternoon and evening so we could go out for a nice meal along the way. Googled what are we going to eat. We can all speak Chinese the same way. Barbecue seemed like a great idea to us. We were received very hospitably even though we had not read the reservation properly. A table was cleared very quickly and the barbecue was started. I'm quite reserved when it comes to food, but food tastes better in the middle of the country. Had an unexpected super evening with delicious BBQ dishes and desserts. Definitely worth repeating, but then we will also come with the grandchildren. And then that barbecue and table right in front of you, that's a wonderful idea. And outside they also have wonderful care and very nice and understanding staff.

Not badly set up, but with lamp oil or something similar. lighting the coals is really a no-no. The chemical taste and smell hangs over the table for the first half hour. This is simply not possible. Salad bar and sauces were very tasty. The meat was also fine when the filth from lighting and top were burnt. Service was friendly.

Restaurant in the forest. A lot of different meat but not só much variety of fish. Nice decorated.

Good food, good service, but it is a bit noisy due to the extraction, which makes chatting with the neighbor across the street sometimes a bit more difficult, but that has no other option if you want to have a BBQ ;-)

For tourist: reach the place 2 hours early before the close time or call to check if they are still accommodating, that will save you a trip. They don’t do take away as well.

Seated from 5 to 8, we were the only ones (Thursday evening)... the atmosphere doesn't really improve. Almost everything on offer was heavily seasoned and there was a lot of meat. I'm just ashamed of it. But since we were the only ones, I didn't ask for unseasoned meat either - it feels like even more to throw away. Shame. Concept is so nice. In response to the response: no complaints about the service, you were very friendly :) I can't bear to ask for more supply, there was really more than enough supply :)

Old beer and continuous smoke in the shop.

They offer a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. I read some reviews that they complained about why there aren't enough vegetables or why they should make their own food. I guess that's the whole point in this place, isn't it?

Food fine.. Nice BBQ on charcoal.. the 5th star is missing for us, because we would like to see more fish, I would not put the mussels on the buffet anymore, because when they are warm on the BBQ they are also the same overcooked.. Maybe cooking shrimp with garlic is an option.. Soup good, accompanying salads good, fries nice and hot.. Sandwiches on the table also tasty.. Dessert was fine according to my partner.. Service good and pleasant. We will definitely go back again...

I didn't try to eat with the restaurant, but very good owners. The restaurant was closed when we came, but let my friends and I use the toilet in case of emergency! Nice location, and I recommend it.

Heerlijk gegeten. Het was alleen heel erg rustig. Hoop dat het wel goed blijft gaan. Jammer dat ze geen alcoholvrije wijn hebben.

Laatst hier gegeten. Op zich gewoon prima, maar de afzuiging laat te wensen over. Veel rook gaat langs de afzuiging heen. De tafels zijn door de bbq wat groot waardoor je de tafelgenoten aan de andere kant slecht verstaat. Vlees was lekker, patat erg gekruid. Soep lekker, koud buffet standaard en prima. 🍰 Weinig keuze toetjes.

Ontzettend leuk restaurant, waar medewerkers lekker normaal en vriendelijk zijn. Het restaurant is gezellig aangekleed en ook niet te druk. Het eten is vers en wordt continue aangevuld. Wij komen zeker terug!

Wij hadden het tamelijk koud. Er waren weinig gasten en dus weinig bbq's in gebruik.

Het was een gezellige avond. Ik zou zeker nog een keer terug gaan.

It was a wonderful one of a kind experience, with open fire and dutch gezelligheid. There was a lot of meat, some salade,fries,desserts and drinks menu was also quite big. We spent a wonderful evening there. Will definitely recommend and return there.

Ich war heute zum zweiten Mal da mit einer größeren Gruppe. Der Service an sich nicht schlecht...aber was das abräumen von Gläsern und Geschier betrifft,hat nicht so gut funktioniert. Eine kleine Anregung für Vegetarier.. vieleicht auch kleine Gemüsepfannen für den Grill und etwas mehr Auswahl an Salat. Zur Sauberkeit kann ich nur noch hinzufügen...auch mal (über)den Grill zu schauen. Noch eine kleine Anmerkung...nicht in jeder Ecke,ist die Rauchentwicklung optimal beim Essen.

Een zeer leuk restaurant om heel het jaar door te BBQ'en met gezin, familie of vrienden. Service is net als uitleg perfect. Kom er heel graag nog een keer. En ja de auto op het dak, geweldig!

Op de website staat op zaterdag geopend van 14.00uur tot 12.00uur. Wij kwamen uit Haarlem en arriveerde om 14.30 om voor een gesloten restaurant te staan. Zelfs bij de deur staat dat ze open zijn. Ze zijn de coronatijd alweer vergeten en hoeven niets te verdienen denk ik. Denk niet dat ik snel terug zal komen.

Echt super lieve mensen die overal aan denken ook als je speciale wensen heb. Ons kind eet echt super slechte. Maar er wordt altijd alles aan gedaan dat hij het ook erg naar zijn zin heeft en dat hij gewoon mee kan eten. Voor ons echt een 10+

Simpel restaurant met weinig keus, het mag wel wat gezelliger.

Lekker gegeten, voldoende ruimte om zonder reservering binnen te kunnen lopen en gezellig om met de kids te bbq’en. Als er nog een speelhoekje voor de kids geweest was hadden we het nog beter gevonden :-)

Echt geweldig. We hadden niet gereserveerd maar ze hadden toch een plekje voor ons. Top geholpen. Het was erg gezellig.

Als ik 6 sterren kon geven, dan deed ik dat meteen. Ik voelde me enorm welkom. Gastvrijheid met hoofdletters! Ik heb een fructanen allergie, waardoor ik oa geen knoflook en uien kan eten. De eigenaar heeft speciaal voor mij een schotel met vers, ongemarineerd vlees klaar gemaakt, een aparte griekse salade, tonijnsalade zonder ui en frites zonder kruiden. Ik kreeg aluminium folie en een eigen tang om kruisbestuiving met het andere vlees op de grill te voorkomen. Ze hebben zo enorm met mij meegedacht! Het eten was van hele goede kwaliteit. Het vlees was vers, de salades en soepen zagen er dito uit. Iedereen heeft heerlijk gegeten. Er waren ook ijsjes em chocolade pudding als dessert. Kortom: ben je in de buurt? Zeker hier eten! Wij komen terug!

Met 7 volwassenen en twee kinderen gegeten. Vriendelijke bediening. Zijn ook regelmatig langs gekomen om te kijken of er drinken nodig waas. Goed gecontroleerd op corona app. De keuze was ruim voldoende en is ook telkens op tijd aangevuld. Vrijwel alles is gemarineerd. Dat zou voor mij wel wat minder mogen. Hierdoor valt voor mij de smaak van het vlees soms weg en er zijn veel marinades zout. Wij zijn gewend wat minder zout te eten en dan wordt het vlug overheersend.

Wow. In de Corona periode een weekendje naar de Ginkelduin in Leersum. Hier eten besteld. Tot de receptie bezorgd. Telefonisch besteld en netjes gebeld dat de bezorger onderweg weg was. Afspraken op de tijden. Eten was goed warm en vers. Heerlijke salades en goed mala vlees. Echt een verwennerij!! Gaan zeker nog eens naar het restaurant als hij weer open is! Vriendelijke telefoniste top service met de pin betalen!

Rustig gelegen, vriendelijke mevrouw die ons hielp. Helaas was er maar 1 tafel bezet (toch minder gezellig) Vonden het vlees niet heeel lekker alles is gemarineerd voor mijn gevoel om het vlees nog smaak te geven ? Terwijl alles hetzelfde smaakte.. de kleine van 11 vond het fantastische dus dat was top. Wel erg lekkere zelf breiden sauzen, frites en salade!
