Friendly staff but a bit of a messy Barista location!

Came for a coffee and straight when we sat down we were asked what we want to order, since I didn’t know the drinks menu before I entered the place I asked for a time to have a look at the menu. After that I didn’t get any attention, so I went to order at the counter. Waited 40 minutes but coffees nowhere. So I just cancelled my order and went somewhere else. And it was not even busy there.. shame for a place located right in the old town.

Unfortunately, I can't really recommend it. The service was friendly, but the wait was long. Hygiene wasn't a priority. Cutlery was handled by the tips without gloves. The restroom could have been cleaner. The food was very meager. A cheese sandwich with just one slice of cheese was very dry. The apple pie was also dry. The chocolate and smoothie were good. Unfortunately, the staff probably don't have a good overview of the place. It seems disorganized.

The staff was nice, but that was it. In theory this should be a great place for a quick bite and coffee, and a good spot with a great view, but noone seems to have the necessary experience here. The staff is very young and seemed unsure in their behaviour, and the food was very pricy. It's okay for me to pay for good, well prepared food (which I got in other places in Den Haag), but my 12€ sandwich tasted old and was mostly lettuce. I first had to remind them to clean the table cause there was still leftover from the last guest. When I waited to pay for my food, I saw that one of the staff members was preparing food and was wiping her hand on her jeans in-between touching ingredients. Sorry, but basic hygiene is not debatable. It would be great if they could liven up the place and fix the issues, cause there would be potential.

I had the falafel sandwich. There was very little hummus and overall it was plain and expensive. I used to live this place but won’t go back because of the slow service (it wasn’t busy and more than enough staff) and expensive plain food.

Cold coffee for a much-inflated price. The service was pleasant, but the young man still needs to focus.

If you're expecting barista artistry, forget it. It's a very nice cafe.

During my visit today with a friend to this Barista Café in The Hague, I encountered this: as a former barmaid, I can say: 1. A barista should not pour water into a damaged glass; this is unsafe and can injure the customer. 2. Customer safety is a priority, so a damaged glass should not be used for serving drinks, including tap water. 3. Baristas must ensure that all glasses are clean and in good condition, so using a damaged glass is unhygienic. A damaged glass gives a bad impression and can lead to a negative experience for the customer. When I tried to complain about this, I noticed that the barmaid didn't speak Dutch, which made communication difficult, and they weren't interested in what I said. Especially the man behind the bar, who wasn't friendly, arrogant, or attentive. It didn't make a good impression on me, and I felt uncomfortable. It was a negative experience for me.

We waited too long for a hot chocolate and a pumpkin spice latte. Neither drink was quite complete as it should be. The friendly lady who served us spoke far too softly and didn't speak Dutch. After all, we were in the Netherlands. Disappointed.

Bad experience. Ordered mint tea with honey, but the honey wasn't there. The restrooms weren't very clean... I also ordered two sandwiches, but after over 45 minutes, I still hadn't received anything; the receipt hadn't come out correctly... (?) But with four staff members, you'd think they'd keep an eye on things and see that two people were waiting for their sandwiches when you ordered at the bar with four people behind them? It wasn't busy. Too bad.

such a pity because the location on frederikstraat is really amazing. unfortunately this one is filthy, extremely rude/slow service. considering the location it could be the best spot for a quick bite and a coffee but i've had bad experiences every time

Very friendly staff, and despite the lack of one, the waitress was able to come up with an idea to conjure up an ashtray! Thank you very much! The coffee and cappuccino were delicious.

The service was friendly. Very young staff. But the place looks a bit run down. Dying plant, shabby sofa, bulb missing from lamp. Very long wait for food. Could not have more than two bites of the scrambled egg burrito, so bad. Bland coffee. One of three orders forgotten. Seems like this place had better days.

Great location! Unfortunately, the service was not great, but friendly. The table wasn't clean, but it was quickly cleaned. However, it wasn't wiped dry. My coffee spilled out of the cup, leaving smudges on the outside. The food was cold inside and was returned to be reheated. The employee touched it with his hand and put it in the oven. I then said I wouldn't eat it. My companion's croissant was also prepared by hand. We won't be going back.

We've been to other baristas cafes and it was always lovely, but unfortunately not the best experience in this one. The staff seemed to be behind with dishes and orders, so it took longer than 20min to get our drinks, we can understand that to a point, but after all that waiting we also got the wrong drinks. The strawberry matcha was mostly milk, and didnt taste like much, but did cost more than 5 euros. We also heard the staff complain out loud, and although I understand the stress as a previous horeca worker myself, it is quite unprofessional when the whole cafe can hear it. I hope this location sets to improve, it is located in a nice area and has a lot of potential

After sitting in the middle of the store for fifteen minutes, I still hadn't been helped. Other customers had to walk to the bar to ask questions. So, I went somewhere else; there are plenty of other businesses nearby.

We love going to Barista Cafes in various cities, but I've never experienced anything like this. The coffee was watery, the apple pie was a very sadly small piece. You had to order at the counter yourself. And the restroom was downright filthy. I'll never go back.

The coconut drink was horrible, they forgot to put a shot of coffee in it. The chai was bland and overly sweet. Don’t recommend.

Great coffee but service takes really long

Went here for breakfast. It was okay, nothing special. Unfortunately, they were out of gluten-free bread, so with a gluten allergy, you're pretty limited on options. They did make yogurt, but it wasn't quite complete for me. It's a shame, because there's an allergy chart online, so that's not really helpful.

It wasn't bad, but I've come to expect better from Barista locations. There was barely any avocado on our smashed avocado, and the scrambled egg sandwich was bland. We also waited 30 minutes for our food while there were only a few other people there. Barista usually gets 5 stars, but unfortunately, this location didn't.

Barista cafes are always fun to visit. They don't have a lot of sandwiches, but they have plenty and they're always delicious. The homemade lemonades are also delicious. I had pancakes with fruit, a chicken sandwich, and a pulled chicken sandwich. The bread is delicious and handmade. And with the coffee, you get a super tasty cookie. The place is cozy.

Two young ladies behind the counter politely tell me to take my order at the table. I settle in at the long table next to the door. The two young baristas behind the counter continue their conversation. I'm almost forgotten. But her barista skills and enchanting smile make the rest of my stay go smoothly. Delicious flat white, beautiful latte art, firm milk foam. #top. The lemon tart is deliciously refreshing. But unfortunately, it doesn't taste fresh.

Had a good time, and the staff were lovely. I was there on a quiet Friday afternoon though, so maybe it can get busier and more hectic.

Nice atmosphere with good design and relaxing music. Friendly staff. The granola bowl was filling and well-presented, but the grilled chicken sandwich was mediocre—too many salad leaves, not enough dressing or flavor.

The new coffee, the Dubai Special, was delicious and highly recommended. The service was also excellent and friendly. I'll definitely be back!

After visiting the art museum and sightseeing, I stopped by for a quick break and some coffee and a snack. The staff was very friendly, and the coffee was quite good.

Waiting almost 25 minutes for four drinks, paying over 20 euros for an iced coffee of barely 200ml: and they don't even put ice cubes in it. I'm all for a healthy and fun workplace, but when you're stuck in a long line and then take your time taking selfies, it really rubs you the wrong way. A little further on, you'll find the platform; I highly recommend that. You get more for less, too :)

Delicious food, tasty fresh and friendly staff, but I missed some music in the shop and our drink had a bit too much whipped cream, which quickly dripped off.

The banana bread and chocolate cake at this café were absolutely divine—hands down the best I’ve ever had. The banana bread was perfectly moist with just the right amount of sweetness, and the chocolate cake was decadently rich, yet incredibly light. A must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth!

We came here a few times and the overall experience has kept going down in terms of food quality and service. For sure the branch in Leiden is much better and more reliable. Today I had to leave the chai latte there as it was completely tasteless. Also, there was a hair in the cookie (all the waitresses have their hair loose). The cheesecake was very dry on the outside and soggy at the bottom, proof that it had likely been there for quite some time. This, along with the overall lacking service (long waiting time + careless and lazy attitude of the staff), convinced us that Barista in The Hague is no longer a good choice for brunch or a snack, unfortunately. We'll still keep going to the one in Leiden, though. On a side note, we were there for around half an hour and we were the third couple complaining about the service already. I think better management would help; currently, it feels like no one cares, basically.

The cappuccino is really flavorful, and the staff is friendly :) A great place to enjoy coffee.

4 staff members 10 customers 35 minute wait for 2 coffee.. people that walk in for take-away are helped first. Table dirty. Windows could do with a wash and floor with a good clean. Coffee is good but not worth the wait.

Friendly staff, we just had to wait a very long time for our order. So long that at some point we had to ask about it. The vegan chocolate cake was delicious. I only saw that an employee put the cookies (which you get with coffee or tea) one by one into a glass jar with her bare hands. Very unsanitary!

First of all, when a guest comes, a table is wiped. Secondly, if you bring spilled coffee, please give me a napkin. Thirdly, the coffee tastes bad.

Part 1 - SERVICE: We went for breakfast today around 9:15 AM. What an attitude from the service! The blonde-haired girl gave us attitude, acting as if she were the king rather than the customer. It was a simple breakfast - Barista breakfast and pancakes and we were the only customers at that time. Unfortunately, it took ages to get our drinks and food. So, I politely asked how long the food would take because we were in a rush. This girl was on the phone, talking negatively about us, assuming that we wouldn't understand Dutch because we were speaking English to her. Later on, she asked her colleague N. to serve us because she didn't want to speak English with us and mentioned how exhausting it was. The service doesn't deserve any stars at all. If you want to talk negatively, please make sure your customers can't hear it. Just asking myself—Dear manager, seeing lots of service complaints here in the reviews, don't you want to do something about it? Part 2 - FOOD: The Barista breakfast... the eggs were dry and tasteless, the half croissant was okay, the bread was dry, and there was only one tiny, thin slice of cheese - interesting. The pancakes, which seemed oven-baked, tasted like the ready-made ones from Albert Heijn, topped with some fruits - definitely not worth the money. You might as well go to AH; it's even cheaper!

Felt very uncomfortable, staffed looked my partner and I down, and she was called it by one of the staff members.

We had two chocolate milks which where very nice. But staff spend a lot of time ignoring us and chatting together and even treated me a bit rudely sadly

If only the service was a little less glacier speed and confusingly inept this would be my living room in The Hague. Very good coffee, some decent food options available, great location. Just don't expect to be serviced within the hour. Or day. 🤦‍♂️

The cake was delicious The coffee was also good, although of course there are even better ones in terms of taste The service is friendly and what we ordered came quickly Unfortunately you can't lock the women's toilet and the faucet was broken, so you had to wash your hands with the men. However, the soap was missing there and you had to go back to the women's toilet with wet hands to get the soap. In order to wash them off again, you went back to the men's toilet. This was something I wouldn't rate very well.

We waited 15 minutes before someone came to us. Then waited half an hour for the coffee. While there were three people working on 14 tables. Take away is continuously given priority, which makes you as a table guest feel completely unhelped. Iced Latte was in a very small glass for the price. Finally, the tasting was also a disappointment. If you order a tasting of pastries for two people, you expect more than this pathetic plate.

Great place to take a break. They had vegan milk alternatives and, like in many other Dutch places, they also got soy milk. For vegans and everyone else, a good place to go!

I had the barista breakfast and the food itself was good but the portion was very little and way too expensive for what you get (14€ for a slice of bread, a small cup of cereal, some dry and cold scrambled egg and a tiny croissant).

It is unfortunate that this cafe has the best coffee/food but such poor service. Waiting time can be up to 30 min just to order and waiters keep ignoring you even if you look at them, wave etc.

Long black and matcha latte, you order at the counter

We stopped at this coffee place as part of a tour to get a coffee and rest. The coffee was not good (we couldn’t drink it) but this is not the reason of the low rating. We paid 4.5 euro for a small flat white which is expensive but also overcharged according to their price list. I mentioned it to the person serving and she said “but you are part of a group” as this is a fair reason to overcharge you. She didn’t feel bad or offered to correct it. And she served as in a take away cup…

Perfect place for my Saturday morning coffee and brunch. Nice atmosphere and very friendly customer service, would recommend this place. The sandwich with omelette is my favorite, can be with burrito option also.
