Bastaard in Schagen (woonkern-Midden)

We had lunch on the terrace. The price-quality ratio is disproportionate. Delicious brown bread, but wafer-thin sandwiches. I ordered a hummus sandwich with grilled vegetables, among other things, so I expected grilled vegetables, not a few slices of zucchini with a huge amount of arugula. It's also a shame that nothing was done about my complaint. They didn't go beyond "Oh???"

Where to begin? We entered a beautiful space, but the welcome from the staff was subpar. As was the service. The second complimentary cup of coffee was undrinkable! So we left that one untouched. The space provides a view into the open kitchen. Inside, the staff are licking their fingers and dropping utensils on the floor without washing them. A truly disgusting sight. Such a shame for such a beautiful space; we won't be returning!

We had a wonderful meal at this beautiful restaurant. Dinner is a fixed-price buffet. The starters are excellent, including carpaccio and fish salad. The main courses are generally tasty, but some could have been more flavorful. The desserts are delicious; it would be helpful if they listed what's what. Highly recommended.
