We had dinner delivered. We ordered the Batavia menu twice and were a bit disappointed that the various side dishes were packaged together. For example, the vegetables in coconut sauce were in one container with the meat in a different sauce, so it was ultimately difficult to tell which was which, and we didn't taste any coconut anywhere. 🙈 The skewers and the peanut sauce were delicious, the rest was good, but we weren't really impressed. Also, the food arrived after 70 minutes instead of 20-40 minutes, with a delivery charge of €5, but we can't say whether that's the restaurant's fault or the Dutch Lieferando service. Conclusion: You can do it, but you don't have to. 🙈

Delicious takeaway, wide selection, super tasty and authentic food!

After wandering around the city for a while now, I have a good idea of ​​the range of Indonesian takeaway restaurants in Amsterdam. The quality and service vary considerably. Some establishments attract long queues every evening, which in my opinion is not always in proportion to what ends up on your plate. Other restaurants remain somewhat under the radar, while they deserve much more attention. Batavia Amsterdam is a good example of this in my opinion. This establishment does a lot, if not everything, right. First of all, the price: for €13.50 you get a Batavia Meal, and that is really value for money. You choose one base, and I can recommend the spicy rice. It is full of flavour, not greasy and cooked just right. Then you choose two vegetable dishes. The aubergine stands out: soft, spicy and perfectly prepared. Finally, you choose two types of meat. The beef is particularly tasty, tender and without unnecessary fat. The chicken is also juicy and well seasoned, without being too salty or dry. What sets Batavia apart from many other establishments is the attention to detail. You can tell that the food is cooked with care, and you can taste it. The portions are generous, the flavors are well-balanced, and the food is always fresh. The service is also friendly and efficient. You are helped quickly, without feeling rushed. In short, Batavia Amsterdam is a place you will happily return to. No frills, no inflated reputation, just good food for a fair price. And as far as I'm concerned, there should be more people queuing for that.

Great options, good flavours, large portions, good service, clean looking place. For up to €15 they give you one container filled with rice and a separate one for the meat/veggies.

I went to Batavia for the first time last Monday and tried the chicken satay, so delicious that I went back straight away the next day. The eggplant was incredibly tasty and the pak choi also had a great taste. I only found the beans a bit watery. The service is friendly and fast. I will definitely come back here!

Ordered via Uber Eats 👍 As a full-blooded Indonesian I found it very unappetizing. They could have better called the daging smoor daging tough - the meat was fried far too short and therefore did not have time to cook tenderly. And that was exactly what I was craving! Too bad. I spat out the chicken satay, I don't think the chicken was good anymore... also a bummer. Tjap tjoy was with the meat portion and the sauce was also far too sweet (cheap 'seasoning') so that also made the tjap tjoy nostalgic. The sajoer lodeh tasted old - certainly not fresh! The rissoles were inedible. I threw the whole lot away. Waste of money. Nasi kuning tasted good though. Tidak pernah lagi.

It is not their food that stands out, but instead their Beef Soup. The food I tend not to get here because it is a little dry at times, but the soup is very unique to them. You can really taste the lemongrass in the broth and the meat is always tender. Most other Tokos do not have that style of soup which really makes it something special as most often you see chicken in Amsterdam. In Haarlem most dont even serve soup. Anytime I am feeling sick and dont want to cook but need nutritious food, I pick up the beef soup and bring it home to heat up. 100% worth it. Pro Tip: Ask for rice noodles instead of rice.

As a vegan, there was plenty of choice for me at Toko Batavia. I really enjoyed the sayur lodeh, buncis, tempe and tahu. The tempe in particular was divine. Toko Batavia is also an attractive place to sit. The old posters and antique items give you something of history. The staff are very friendly. I will definitely come back to this store!

The food is tasty. Only ordered a few times and every time the beef is quite on the tough side. Furthermore, the vegetables and chicken are delicious.

Looks neat, but above all tasteless and greasy. Sweet and sour chicken was greasy and tasted like it was old, the beans, over-cooked and watery. Only the rendang was tasty. I would not recommend this tent.

This is actually really delicious. The lady is also friendly and helpful. Basically, if you go to Amsterdam you have to come here.

Lekkere rundvlees zoet. Vega loempia smaakloos, kip niet sterk gemarineerd. Maar rundvlees echt lekker. Gele rijst mwah en droog. En gebakken rijst (bruine kleur) heel lekker. Sayur lodeh, boontjes lekker. Kipsate zat veel vet aan en soms harde stukjes. Niet netjes schoongemaakt.

This shop sells Indonesian meal to bring them together with you. Frankly speaking, I have never taken away Indonesian food and please note that this restaurant remains my mind as an option for my meal with family at home. This staffs are very friendly and kind. The amount is suitable for those who live in Netherlands.

Jazeker een heerlijk afhaal/bezorg Indonesisch restaurant! Een uitgebreid menu maar ik had voor 12,50 nasi goreng (heel lekker, heel veel) pittige kip, beef rendang, boontjes, gemengde groente en een pittig eitje! Super lekker! Mooie schone en nette zaak!

Came in on a late Tues afternoon for an early dinner and was incredibly satisfied. 2veg/2meat style food “bar” (like Panda Express for Americans, or T&T food courts for Canadians :) ) Good portions for great prices (~€10-15 for a one person meal); the menu doesn’t go higher than 15eur. Only downside is the food is maybe a little on the saltier side, but that’s just personal preference. The staff I spoke with was incredibly kind and patient. They were very accommodating of my questions, going above and beyond the standard bar-food service one might expect. The space is moderately sized, clean and has a pleasant ambiance; there is a window-bench and one table inside, though as of this writing there is no dine-in yet. Would definitely come back for a quick and affordable meal!

Heerlijk gegeten en snelle bezorging. We hebben de satesaus wat pittiger gemaakt met sambal oelek. De Rendang was heerlijk. De hete balletjes zijn ook aan te raden. Eten is zonder melkprodukten, heerlijk aangezien ik hier intolerant voor ben.

When the conversation gets around a good Indonesian, people often mention Blauw. Nay! I guess they haven’t tried Batavia yet. We ordered tonight for first time and were impressed with both the taste and portions. We loved the special meal among other dishes. Definitely our go-to place when we long for delicious Indonesian food.

Goede toko. Als je een menu kiest krijg je goede porties voor een heel schappelijke prijs. De rendang is te droog, helaas al drie keer zo ervaren. En de kip met aubergine veel te veel olie. Verder lekker en goed gekruid.

Zeer fijne en schone zaak, lief personeel. En het eten is heerlijk!
