Tasty food, goed service and a nice atmosphere.

So easily gave it five stars, didn't even think about it. Great atmosphere, a wide variety of beers, busy but quiet, a beautiful building, and fantastic service. Go there, you won't regret it. Probably make a reservation if you want to be sure of a seat.

Very nice pub. Super popular though. So expect a round of "in and out again" simply because it's too crowded.

(The food is in lieu of the drinks, as I didn't get food here). I do like the location, and how it was transformed into a biercafé. I must admit I was hoping for more beers that I wouldn't typically find on a shelf in any of the main grocery stores. Perhaps I popped in at a bad time but I felt that for most of the choices, I had either already tried them, or I'd seen them while shopping. I'm of the opinion that I'd rather get those beers at a store for cheaper and have them at home. Aside from that, the service was fine. Nothing special but not lacking in any way. The interior is interesting and it is still a good place for 2-6 people.

Very busy and very noisy. The staff is friendly but a bit overwhelmed. It's no longer a pleasant place to have a drink in the afternoon.

A very special place inside a church

The Dutch have a low religious level. Some abandoned churches are repurposed. I once went to a church bar in Christchurch. A friend told me there were similar bars in the Netherlands! This time, thanks to a local friend (a true local! 🐍), he took us to this very famous Belgisch Biercafé Olivier Utrecht, a Belgian beer bar converted from a church. It was a holiday, so getting a table was incredibly difficult. Luckily, we managed to snag one! 🙋🏻‍♀️ We had such a great time chatting that day that we forgot what we ordered. Lovely beer cafe in the heart of Utrecht. It's situated in a former church, and they even left a lot of stuff in there. The organ is still up in the rafters and most of the seats are former church benches. The selection of beer and other drinks is mind boggling. When I went there was a bit of a weird smell which was kind of annoying, but the atmosphere and beer made up for it.

Incredible place. I was surprised the moment I got inside. It’s a huge and nice place. I never imagined to see a Bar/Restaurante in a church. Despite being a bit noise when it is crowded, it’s outstanding! Service incredible and friendly. Carpaccio one of the best I ever had!

There were no seats available for dinner, so we hung out at the bar. (2 people) The menu varies. We ordered snacks. The prices were average, in my opinion, very good by EU standards.

Always good and tasty at a reasonable price. The price/quality ratio is excellent. The short rib burger from four years ago was better than the one today. It was also thinner and actually overcooked. Still a tasty burger, but compared to back then... It was pleasantly busy (and therefore quite noisy in such a (church) building, but that creates a nice atmosphere...). Friendly staff!

Nice place, good beer, but the snacks we ordered were cold. And the staff reacted the same way. We ended up getting the same snacks back warmed up.

You don't need a particularly special beer menu here. Lots of mainstream options. For someone with my taste (ba stouts, sours, pastry varieties, more exclusive farmers), it's not surprising enough. The least important thing about this place, which looks great inside, is the acoustics. It's very hollow because of the height. Hanging targets, a tapestry, or foam padding under the tables would be helpful.

We went here on a Saturday night. Upon arrival, we had to wait 40 minutes because we hadn't made a reservation. That wasn't a problem for us, as we had a beer at the bar. After exactly 40 minutes, we were told a table would become available and we could sit down if it was clean. We had a great meal afterward. We had carpaccio as a starter and spare ribs afterward. The spare ribs were especially delicious. The only downside for us was the location, which was in the alley near the entrance, but that's just luck, as a table became available right there.

My son and I ate here after a day of shopping in Utrecht. We were able to get a table for two around 6 p.m., but booking is recommended to guarantee a spot. The acoustics inside are quite noisy, but not disturbing. The staff were incredibly welcoming and really went out of their way to make nice contact. Highly recommended!

Cool place to go and have a beer - they have a huge selection, so you won't be disappointed. The staff are friendly and quite helpful. Reservations recommended, since this place gets very busy (and noisy). They don't do take-aways, but the food is delicious so you probably won't need to take any home :)

I'm Japanese. I went on a Monday night around 8pm and it was pretty full, but luckily we got a seat. We were two women and only ate food, so we weren't drinking, but we were able to order three dishes and were very satisfied. In European restaurants, the dishes are large and we feel bad about leaving some food even when we share, but perhaps because this is a snack for people who drink alcohol (?), the portions were just right for Japanese women. It was very busy, even on a Monday, and it was difficult to get a hold of the staff. It was quite noisy, so even if you shouted, they wouldn't catch it. All the staff were very nice. Apparently the restaurant is a renovated church, so the ceilings were high and the atmosphere was great. Above all, the food was delicious! This is definitely a place I'd like to visit again if I'm in Utrecht.

Hidden church and lovely place to get a beer!

Worst meal in a Loooong time. Alcohol free wine was spoiled. Replaced by something else without argument Mussels, sold out, soup of the day, sold out. Etc. 8pm on a weekday... Shrimp croquettes were crispy but very short on shrimp. And what's with the slice of rock hard bread served with it? Shrimp croquettes is something they teach in the first week in any Belgian cooking school. They are not hard. They should not be this bland Mains... Cod was undercooked to the point of being inedible. Sateh was overcooked, underseasoned except for lots of garlic. Peanut sauce is from a packet and is mainly sweet and soy sauce. Clings in your mouth, tastes cheap! Fries were like English chips, cooked once instead of twice.Not crispy Staff didn't seem to give a shit. I didn't feel like making a scene so just paid and left Not doing this again. Do yourself a favour, have a beer here and find someplace else to eat. There's a Febo a few doors down. They have better fries and croquettes.

A super fun location in the center of Utrecht. From the outside, it's not really noticeable, but once you walk in, you suddenly realize you've stepped into a kind of old church. Super cozy! The acoustics can be a bit noisy due to the high ceiling, but it's definitely worth it. The food and service are also top-notch!

Belgian Beer Café Olivier in Utrecht has delicious food and a super friendly staff. The atmosphere is lovely, although I found it a bit noisy, but that's just the way it is in an old church. Definitely recommended! 🍻🍴

Had a lovely lunch at Olivier's. Everything was perfect, and the lunch was excellent. One minor drawback: the smell wasn't great inside. Possibly some drainage issues. I'll try again soon!

If you believe that visiting a beer house in a church is sacrilegious, just remember that Jesus performed his first miracle on alcohol. A must visit place with a unique atmosphere, good food and service.

The beer is excellent, with plenty of choices, and while the building is atmospheric, an old church, the acoustics are terrible. You won't go crazy from the alcohol here, but rather from the ambient noise.

The place is unique, eating in a church is not something you will get the chance to do every day. The charm of the place is really the best thing about this restaurant, the food is good and the staff is very friendly, but what a place!! If you are in Utrecht, go there, it is worth the detour!!

A place where you can drink beer in a happy atmosphere

The interior is nice, worth seeing. You have to try the Oliver beer to have an opinion, personally I wasn't as excited as everyone says. The service was satisfactory, we sat outside and they took our glasses and bottles without asking us, which we considered rude. Especially my wife who had something in her glass which the waiter obviously didn't see.

Amazing spot in the inside and outside, legendary bar that used to be a church (clearly haha), has a bunch of different beers which is amazing, has great wines (we ordered a bottle). We didn´t order food, the service was great as usual, a must go, very different from any other bar.

The St. Bernardus Abt 12 beer, just like the Olivier Double Black, as well as the gyoza dumplings, truly captivated me. The beer is perfect for connoisseurs, and the dumplings are full of flavor and simply amazing

Hier heerlijk op het terras gezeten met een biertje. We namen wat gyoza’s en kip. De kip had bij sommige stukjes een bevroren midden. Haastige spoed is zelden goed. In de gaten houden dus als je met bevroren voedsel werkt.

A surprisingly nice food and beer café in the center of Utrecht. A huge selection of delicious beers on the menu, and the food was also delicious! The enthusiastic staff are happy to chat about your favorite beer and theirs. The only downside is the noise when it's a bit busier, but that's also difficult to solve in such a large space.

staff and restaurant were 👌🏼👌🏼 but the fried eggs were really disappointing i couldnt even eat it. it was more so an omelette and i hate omelette so if id known it wasnt fried eggs i wouldnt have ordered it… and still paid for something i barely touched. otherwise the staff are doing a great job. very attentive ❤️

We had mussels and fries and it was delicious. Their beer collection is good too though they didn’t have some of the common Belgian beers that you could get at a Belgian restaurant. Service was really good and the staff was very friendly and attentive.
