Last time was disappointing, tonight was disappointing again, salami poorly distributed, almost no gorgonzola. Also a whole lot of flour on the base, this really ruined the pizza. Also a 45-minute wait time calling ahead, eventually waited another 15 minutes longer there than indicated; well, it was super busy and I find this the least bad part, the review is mainly focused on the pizza.

Had a delicious pizza, really absurdly tasty. Will definitely drive there more often from Groningen, it's well worth the trip. Nice and friendly staff, and you can sit down comfortably for a bit. Absolutely top-notch 👍🏼

On Friday, February 3rd, we had dinner here with colleagues. The service is good and friendly, and the food is superb. Be careful when sitting on the terrace! The plastic rattan terrace furniture has sharp pieces. My boyfriend was wearing a new shirt, and after dinner, there were two holes in it because he kept snagging it on the backrest. There was also a small tear in my blouse, so when we got home, we had to throw both away. What a waste! That said, the quality of the food is top-notch.

We ate here last night with a group during the TT weekend. The food was fine and the service was friendly, but when settling the bill, we were left with a nasty aftertaste due to sheer shady practices regarding the account. Afterwards, it turned out that a "Mandatory TT Surcharge" of 6 euros had been added to the receipt without any prior notice or mention on the menu. Additionally, the cash register charges different prices for exactly the same drinks. For instance, we paid €7.75 for some of the large beers and €7.50 for others. With the regular beer, too, they were juggling with two different prices (€4.00 and €3.75) on the same receipt. When we confronted the staff about this, we received the arrogant response that we had "been lucky" that the low (read: the normal) price had been charged by mistake a few times. It is the world turned upside down! They raised the prices in the cash register during the TT. Don't they earn enough already during this festival? This is not only improper, but it is also simply prohibited under Dutch law (Article 6:193c of the Dutch Civil Code / ACM guidelines). A hospitality establishment *must* clearly communicate all prices and surcharges in advance; you may not mislead a consumer afterwards with hidden costs or arbitrary price increases. So check your receipt very carefully regarding this!

I had the pizza with salami, ham, bacon, onion, and mushrooms. Unfortunately, the pizza was very soggy and wet, and there was an enormous amount of onion on it, which was a shame considering the whole experience. It's a pity, because I have eaten well here before and had a much better experience then. The service was friendly, and the place itself is nice and atmospheric.

I have been coming here for a number of years and have never left with a bad feeling. It is always pleasant, and the atmosphere is good. The food is tasty and of good quality. The service is incredibly fast; for a restaurant that is often quite busy, it really runs very smoothly. Thumbs up for that!

Starter Vitello tonnato: just a few very small slices of veal (the size of a Dutch pancake). Starter Carpaccio: sliced ​​meat on a bed of iceberg lettuce (?) and otherwise plain, without dressing and without pine nuts. Main course Lasagne really not tasty due to far too many thick slices of ham in it. Main course Spaghetti Bolognese was good though.

The quality of the food here is very poor and the prices are ridiculously high. Six hours later, you still have a block of "lead" in your stomach from the pizza. We will never come here again.

We had a delicious meal here for a low price, and it's cozy too! There is a wide selection of both main courses and desserts. We spent €68 for drinks, a main course, and dessert for two people. You can park near the restaurant in the DNK parking garage.

Despite it being quite busy, we had good food and good service. The food did take a while to arrive, but that was due to the crowds.

Based on ongoing feedback, an adjustment has been made. Pickup is definitely recommended. The pizza is ready at the agreed-upon time. The restaurant's food could be better in terms of attention, service, and atmosphere. The staff is more focused on pick-up and delivery and often forgets to ask if everything is to your liking or if there's a drink you need. The pizzas are absolutely excellent.

The starter hadn't even finished yet, and one person's main course was already served, so we had to wait 10 minutes for the next course... the side dishes were cold by then... And they were served with your meat dish, which was completely covered in sauce, so you couldn't put your salad and fries away... with the lasagna, there were still two large bay leaves in it... After pointing this out to two waiters, who ignored them, one waiter was completely understanding... and he came to meet us with the bill... We had a reservation for 7:30 pm and were standing outside again at 8:30 pm... a real shame if you think you're celebrating an anniversary dinner... last time here...

Bella Italia in Assen is a large Italian restaurant with plenty of seating, but reservations are definitely recommended. We were there on a Wednesday during the week, and even then the restaurant was completely full and very busy. Despite the crowd, the service was fast and well-organized. The food arrived surprisingly quickly, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The quality of the food was really excellent, especially the pizza: perfectly prepared, exactly as you'd expect from an Italian restaurant. The prices are reasonable and reflect the quality of the food. All in all, a very pleasant experience and definitely recommended if you enjoy good Italian food.

The food was delicious, the furniture and decor were good, the lighting was great, etc. Nothing to complain about. However, the turnover was very fast. We hadn't even poured our beer before the appetizer was served. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you're expecting. The bread board wasn't finished yet, but a waitress brought it along as we walked by. The pizza was delicious, though the crust was thick, so start in the middle. ;) The macaron dessert was excellent.

Delicious, large portions (pizza). Unfortunately, the pizzas are very soggy due to the amount of (olive?) oil. The starter for 3 isn't worth the price (€26.50). The seating upstairs is nice and spacious. Downstairs can be a different story, depending on where you sit. The restrooms were clean. Friendly service.

The food was good, but there are also mice running around, and if you say anything about it, they just look at you and do nothing. Until the boss comes up with an excuse. So mice 🐁 in the kitchen are filthy too!

To be honest we were looking for a nice place to eat something and after a few nice places were booked, we came here. Right of the bat the waiter told us that if we want pizza, we're gonna wait about an hour, but for the rest of dishes about 20-30 min. So after going through the menu maybe 10 times we said that we are waiting for pizza, luckly my girlfriend suggested at the last moment to order just one, not two. Pizza came in about 45-50min, but was terrible, too much of everything on the poor pizza, and disproportionate amounts of ingredients on the pizza. I was amazed that it was so crowded inaide the place and they served this thing. Maybe i was unlucky with my pick, but sure thing I won t be trying another one.

I'm deaf. I asked for a different table than the one I reserved, because otherwise I wouldn't hear anything of the conversation. That was handled well. A little later, to my great surprise, the "chef" came to us and offered us an even better table. Top-notch customer service! Oh yeah, the food was just as good! I'll definitely go there again.

An unexpected visit to Bella Italia Assen. What a wonderful change of plans! The atmosphere was fantastic. It was very busy, which meant the wait for our food was a bit longer. But it didn't really bother us because the atmosphere was pleasant and cozy. The waitress has real talent for hospitality. She had a good overview and walked around with confidence and enjoyment. A valuable asset to the hospitality industry. The food was truly delicious. The pizza was generously topped. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area again.

According to the reviews here, it's the best Italian restaurant in Assen. I ordered the Pizza Funghi with gorgonzola and got something I'd never seen before: a pizza with what looked like slices of cheese. So you can actually see a slice of cheese near the crust. It's slightly visible in the slice in my photo. The pizza itself was incredibly greasy and very salty. The restaurant is called Bella Italia, but the average Italian would have a stroke if they visited this place. I can't fault the service or the cozy location in the city center. But the pizza was truly subpar.

The store is being renovated in January 2020. Although it doesn't seem necessary. I'm curious.

The best pizza I've eaten in a long time

We both ordered scallops and each got a sandwich and a portion of fries to share. We asked if this was the way it was supposed to be, and were repeatedly told it was, and that it was a new idea the owner had created. We also noticed it was pretty quiet here, but now we understand why. What a disappointing evening out this was after so many years of being customers. Too bad, but they'll never see us again.

The food was delicious. A great menu with plenty of choices. Not 100+ pizzas, but a good selection. Customization is always possible. It's busy and large, so fewer stars for atmosphere. Ditto for service. Little time for conversation or humor in between. We found that a shame.

We had a lovely meal for four people. The atmosphere is good, and the place looks neat and tidy. Service is fast and polite, but they forgot which table we were at when we paid, which seemed a bit clumsy.

The oyster mushroom pasta is highly recommended. The pizzas are good, the pasta better. Friendly and fast service. You can sit both inside and outside.

3 stars for food because of this experience. And 3 stars for service because of the discussion. If you order two portions of scallops, you get one small portion of fries and one small salad to share. When I asked, the server said, "The owner decided this." Really? We each pay for our own portion, so that should be a full meal. When I pointed out that this wasn't correct, I was given the excuse that it was "to combat food waste." Ridiculous. Whether I have to share my salad bowl is up to me – that's not up to the owner or the staff. Only after insisting with another employee did I finally get my own bowl. But this should never have been a discussion. For this price, I just want to get what I order. Period. A very disappointing experience. I wish it would change soon, I think most people won't be happy about this. Next time, I'll ask to pay only half the price because of the waste of money; everything is already so expensive! And what strikes me is that negative reviews are not responded to.

The pasta is so delicious I ordered the pasta with quattro formagi and chicken it was amazing the pizza margherita and the quattro formagi are so delicious too plus the atmosphere inside the place is nice also there's an outdoor seating, I recommend it

It's busy, disorganized and impersonal. We sat in the corner near the cash register and there was no attention paid to us at all. The pizza was also far too salty, not to mention the incredible thirst that subsequently arose. The last time for us at Bella Italia...

Ate the filetto del cuoco again. This is a tenderloin with Parma ham, oyster mushrooms and gorgonzola, topped with a spicy cream sauce. Again it was delicious and super tender, highly recommended. Friendly wait staff and despite the crowds we were served quickly. A good ambiance and also important, excellent seats (if you are over 1.90, this is not always self-evident) I eat here several times a year and the food is great every time. 05-10-24 Ate here again As usual, opted for the filetto del cuoco. Once again it was delicious, but this time the service was quite more chaotic and messy than before But in the end the food and atmosphere were great again! 22-03-25 Yet again I ate at my favorite Italian restaurant. I was planning to choose a pizza, but I opted for my favorite, filetto del cuoco. It looked very good again, but what was more important was that the meat was even more tender than the previous times. (Medium raw tenderloin) The knife went through the meat like it was butter and I enjoyed it again. And despite the crowds, the service was excellent. I'm already looking forward to the next time.

Had dinner at this fantastic pizzeria last night before visiting the theater. Despite the crowds on Saturday evening, we found a table and everything went smoothly. The service and kitchen run like a well-oiled machine. Very nice staff and the pizzas and desserts are great. Another top restaurant for us vegetarians. In combination with a visit to the theatre, a great evening out! Thanks for that, everyone at Bella Italia!

Already twice a pizza fish pizza and surprise from the chef. Unfortunately, both times there was little fruity on the pizza. Lots of tuna and shrimp. Little salmon mussels and anchovies. Too bad because the pizza base is delicious. But the pizza content that comes with it is little. Also the surprise from chef. Pizza prices have increased, but what comes with it has decreased. Ria

Fine pizzeria, located on De Markt in Assen, near the canal. You can park in the "De Nieuwe Kolk" parking garage or along the road in the paid parking spaces. We came with 6 people and were immediately able to sit at a table on the first floor. The menu is extensive, but the emphasis is clearly on the diversity of pizza. Logical for an Italian restaurant... Our pizzas were served fairly quickly, despite the crowds. The service at the table was also quite smooth and friendly. I personally opted for a quattro formaggi special. 4 types of Italian cheese with ham, salami and basil. The pizza was well prepared and the different types of cheese combine well with the basil. Add a nice, fresh Italian beer and you have a fun evening in a casual atmosphere. Definitely recommended when you are in Assen.
